Remarkable Rex is based on a true story of an incredible little dog named Rex. Rex doesn't let being small stop him from becoming the king of his household where he lives with his best friend Tom. He quickly becomes the leader of the neighborhood dogs in his small town in the mountains of North Carolina. The one day, Rex finds himself separated from his family, lost, and miles from home. His five-year adventure to find his way back home to tom is filled with danger, compassion, survival, and courage. When he finally arrives home, muddy and bedraggled, Tom can hardly believe it. "Where have you been for five years?" Rex knows the answer to that question and this is his story.
Born in Franklin, Pennsylvania, David Rough was raised in West Virginia and has lived most of his adult life in Ohio. He earned his undergraduate degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College; two masters degrees from Asbury Seminary in Kentucky and Grace Seminary in Indiana; and his Ed.D. from Indiana Wesleyan University. David and Cathy are the parents of four and the grandparents of eleven.
As a relative of both authors I am admittedly biased but my daughters and I enjoyed this story and it made for a fun bedtime reading. Check out Rex and his remarkable journey
As the co-author of this book, I want to share my excitement about this amazing true-life dog that inspired this book. Rex lived in a small town in North Carolina, found himself separated from his family, and made a great effort to find his way back home. I have filled in the huge gaps of Rex’s missing years with fun fictional characters, times of adventure and danger, and a “dog”ged determination for restoration.
I gave my book 5-stars to reflect the wonderful time I had putting it together and the creative time my sister and I enjoyed in our collaboration. Diane did all the illustrations and gave great visual life to the story. I truly hope you will enjoy this story.
