Rate this book
The President is dead.
The outer colonies are in revolt.
One man will make himself Emperor.
The Commonwealth must stop him…or fall.

In the chaos after the death of President Barnes and the revelation of his betrayals, Brad Madrid has been imprisoned because of his relationship to the pirate known as the Phoenix. His relationship takes on a new edge when the Phoenix declares himself Lord Protector of the Outer Worlds—the unquestioned dictator of a nation born to wage war against the Commonwealth.

Released from his prison and drafted into the Commonwealth Navy, Brad is sent out to wage war against his last living relative. As his own home, Jupiter, tries to step aside from the conflict, he finds himself with a sparse list of allies—and facing a far more powerful enemy than he’d ever feared.

The Phoenix promised that he would be Emperor. As years of hidden work comes to fruition, Brad isn’t sure he can stop him. He only knows one thing: brothers or not, he will defy the Phoenix to his last dying breath!

Damn what an ending to a great series I just wish there was more it all felt a bit short too me. However I can't say that short was bad in this case because it was action packed, the plot moved at a perfect speed and a lot of stuff other writers do that I feel is a shitty thing is fill pages and pages with unnecessary details/stale boring repetitive stuff that you've heard 50 times in every book. Alternatively some slow down the pace of plot so they can release more books. I really need to give props to Glynn Stewart and Terry Mixon for not doing that. Also let me say thank you for a really interesting ride these 2 series have been great to listen to I really enjoyed the characters in them.

This is a good conclusion to the series. Writing a full review for the fifth book in a series is quite pointless as anyone reading this is already a fan of the book series. You won't regret picking up book one and getting to Bound by Blood though. The first 3 books are solid four out of five stars. The last two are a solid five out of five. The plot picks up and gets more detailed and interesting in the last two, and the ending is expected, but with a twist to make it completely unexpected. Very well done there. These are some of the better stories I've read recently. Too often an author forgets to just tell the damn story. That isn't the case here. These are good stories that read really fast.

Blood VS Blood

Oh boy, a major family dispute that involves the Common Wealth, the Fleets, the Mercenaries, to support Brad Madrid to take on his own blood, his brother. The Phoenix. With the former known Cadry now recognized the OUter Worlds Alliance under the Lord Protector commands to attack everything that is the right and true side of the humaity. Will Brad and his friends and alliances help stop the Lord Protector? Or will all worlds collide?

Definitely deserves my ratings but only disappointed that there isnother book to follow up after this. But alas, all good things must come to an end, no?

Fun read

Not a bad ending though you'll only get a pale imitation of the drama that's being described. That's the price of skinny characters but the tale is rousing. Good guys bighead to head with sword wielding bad guys. It's fun and hints at the almost plausible reality that is the serviceable background for the series.

I was surprised by the ending, which was pleasant. All in all, the action was well described, unit descriptions made sense, the tech was consistent and the characters stayed true to their roles. There's not much more that you can ask from a space opera.

To be candid, I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this book and the series as a whole. This book provided a good endpoint to the series with the usual action and adventure Glynn Stewart always delivers, while leaving space for more stories to come. **Spoiler alert** It's an interesting twist to see the hero of the series refuse to take power when it's offered and leaves an opening for more books in the universe.

The action was ok. I liked the ending mostly.

I wasn't too enthused during reading this book. Part of it was not having read the first 4 extremely recently, but I just didn't have it in me to reread them. This series always felt a bit fluffy, even for adventure-story-SF. The action kept it moving usually though.

It's all family business

Consider that you don't even know how your parents died, how that you have one messed up family that keep on killing each other and dragging the whole solar system into a massive war with it. That's what Brad Madrid have, and he have to deal with it to save the solar system, one mono blade swing at a time.

Excellent novel and an excellent series.

This is a series set in the Earth's solar system in the future. Space travel is now possible but politics and strife still surround us. A good man is needed to fight for what is right and good about mankind. There are space ship battles. There are hand to hand fights. This story is a easy and enjoyable read.

Suspenseful ending to a great series!

In depth characters with a twisting and turning plot. Heroes and villains win and lose and the end is in doubt up until it's over. Brad Madrid's character faces trials and triumphs, which all fall into place at the completely unforeseen but satisfying conclusion. Great series!

An excellent conclusion to the series

Terry and Glenn have managed to keep the magic going with this book concluding the series in a satisfying manor while keeping up with the action, if I had any complaints it was they once again left me wanting for more

Loved the series 4.5 stars

I loved the series and Brad along with many other characters were great.

The only item I would change would’ve been to add another 15-20 pages to the ending to wrap up a few loose ends.

Otherwise truly enjoy both of these authors work.

Epic

It has been a while waiting for this finale and it was worth the wait. A fantastic story with wonderful characters written beautifully. Far and above the best series I’ve read in quite a while.

Book 5 of the 2 book series

This is a good ending. I wasn't sure what was going to happen until the very end.

Lots of other good stuff happens too. There's space combat, ground combat and hand to hand monoblade fights.

Solid Finish

I can only assume this is the final book in the series, and I can safely say it does a fantastic job of tying everything up with a bang. I also believe this setting has room for more stories that I would love to read. Great read, would recommend.

Great series

The 5 novels have been such a good read with solid character development and amazing action. I like the hard science used in the stories and have impatiently awaited the next in the series. I hope to see more from these authors.

Ok space opera

This is normal space opera. The bad guys are omniscient and omnipresent. The good guys can never catch a break and always underestimate their foes, until right at the last moment! Tada we win!!!

A fitting end to the series

More twists than a roller coaster. Skillfully directed action keeps you on the edge of your seat. Intricate portral of the fight brings the fates of our heroes to life. Even knowing the good guys have to win doesn't diminish the story.

Another winner

To be offered a kingship and turn it down after fighting most of the world's warriors might seem illogical to you, but you have to read to find out why.

Brilliant series

In my opinion, two of the best sci-fi authors have combined to cook up a 5 book thriller. Highly recommended.
