It starts with a bang ... actually it starts with a car crash. Detective Bex Wynter remembers the bright light in her eyes and then her husband draped over the steering wheel, obviously dead.

She believes that another car intentionally cause the accident. But she's told her husband had a heart attack and died while driving. She's unwilling to accept this version and will do anything and everything she can to find the truth.

Months later she finds herself headed to New York. Her husband's estate which was left to her is under attack by an ex-wife and his son ... neither of which he saw in many years before he passed. Bex is obviously upset as she had plans for that money ...

Her past crashes into her present as a killer who tried to kill Bex in London is also in New York.

This is a complex story, well-written, filled with action and energy. The characters are finely drawn bringing more credibility to the story. Wynter's personal life, as well as her professional life brings her to life on these pages.

Although 6th in the series, this one is okay as a stand alone, but the story will be enhanced if read in sequence. The relationships between the characters are well worth reading, and the mysteries are complex with twists and turns.

Please make sure that you have nothing else to do in your life when you start reading this book because everything will fall to the wayside as you utter those famous last words: Just one more chapter! Oh, and don't even waste your breath saying the chapters are not very long so I won't be up all night reading. You are just lying to yourself. You will have to find major intestinal fortitude to be able to put this book down. Ask me how I know! There is action, suspense, and high-flying drama galore.
Since this is the sixth book in the series I was very familiar with the main characters and learned a lot about characters who had only been in the background until now. It was great to get to know the friends and family that Bex left behind when she moved to London.
What I really enjoy about Ms. Harper's writing is that she can write an action-packed story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, while at the same time writing with an emotional component that will sneak up on you and grab you by the throat when you aren't looking. I can't say enough good things about this series and the only downside I can find is that I have to wait until Ms. Harper writes the next one before I can get my hands on it. I highly, highly recommend this series.

Having read and enjoyed all the previous books in the Bex Wynter series I was delighted to be given an early copy of this one and asked what I thought of it. I have to say it's the best of the entire series. I've really enjoyed all of them so for this to be better is incredible. There's a pay off from having read all the stories but it's not required as this book works well on its own. For me though it works best having read them. All the basics, such as grammar, spelling etc, are covered to the highest standards. This is story with many threads that Elleby Harper weaves together brilliantly. There's tense action as Bex Wynter doggedly digs for the truth of what happened to her husband, was it a heart attack or something far more sinister? This is a really fun engrossing read that flew by once I started to read it. If you like police, crime or thriller books this is a must. In fact, it's a must if those aren't your usual genres! I can't recommend this highly enough, great stuff.

A brilliant and unique series you won't want to miss. Highly Recommended.

This is Book 6 in the Bex Wynter Series by the amazing Elleby Harper and is, in my opinion, yet another masterpiece.  I started reading the series with a free copy of Driven To Death and was immediately taken with both the main character and the way in which the book was written.  From that book on I have been impressed by the quality of the stories which have gone from strength to strength.  If you haven't read one of these books from this talented Author then I can honestly recommend you do. You will not be disappointed.

The Series so far:
1. Driven to Death
2. Stolen Daughters
3. Courting Death
4. Death For Sale
5. Blood Lines
6. Killing Time

Killing Time continues Bex’s desire to keep her late husband's memory alive with a halfway house for teens while also trying to move on with her new life in London. In this installment Bex must save the halfway house while trying to decide how to move on. Elleby stacks a lot of mystery into this book while figuring out how to write so that we care what happens to each person in the mystery. The only thing I did not like was how one of the characters handles some of the news at the end of the book, the cad; but I know it was a realistic option. Again Harper does a great job of infusing British and American English together. I'm more and more enamoured with Bex and how she carries herself with every book. She is an admirable character.
I received a free ARC and am voluntarily writing my honest review of the book.

Bex receives word the trust fund for the halfway house for troubled teens in New York that she set up in her late husband's name has been froze. She must appear in court in New York the next morning. She gets the next flight out. A killer who tried to kill Bex in London is also in New York. A co-worker of Bex also goes to New York. Does Bex save the halfway house? Does she find out who murdered her husband? Does the killer find out Bex is in New York? Does Cole save Bex? Does he find the killer? Elleby writes another nail biter!! You won't want to miss this one! Very well written!!

I am definitely happy to get to review this book. I received this book as an ARC from the author. Ms Harper has done a great job of creating and engaging her characters. Bex has begun to work on trying to be happy again. She isn’t sure she is succeeding though. I couldn’t put this book down after starting to read. It’s certainly a thrilling read. I was happy to see Bex get to meet her husband’s son, Kristian. I’m hoping that she can get to know him better and continue to deal with her grief better because of him. I’m not very happy about the way Cole acted but that’s the way it goes. I’m anxious to see what happens next.

Gritty and intense! Complex and compelling! An edgy mystery full pulse-pounding suspense, sinister secrets and one shocking surprise after another! The fast pace of the of the twisted, wildly-captivating plot kept me swiping the pages feverishly long past my bedtime.

*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

Bex is in the crosshairs from several directions.
Author Elleby Harper has again spun a tale of daring while keeping the reader in nail-biting suspense. By weaving together the results of British and U.S. police work she, while creating a chilling story, was able to show how international cooperation can provide the clues and manpower to win the day. Another great story. Recommended. This is my voluntary review of a free ARC

Another great book in the series. It starts off with a surprise, continues to deliver unexpected moments, and ends with a huge event. So much action on both sides of the Atlantic! New characters enter the story. The book charges forward with so much energy. I really enjoyed it. I am happy to write this review for the advanced reader copy of the book that I received from the author.

Bex is called back to New York City to court because her dead husband's former wife claims she was still his wife at the time of his death. The money from his estate is in an account to fund a charity to help the people less fortunate. A man hunt for a killer from Europe and an enemy of Bex's is in NYC. This is a thrill ride that will keep you guessing.

Killing time is the 6th novel in the Bex Wynter files. Back from London to deal with “family matters”, Bex is still struggling with her husband’s untimely death and is determined to prove that it was murder when certain leads come to light. Meanwhile, Cole, a good friend and possibly a blossoming romance of Bex, is sent from London to NYC to pursue a serial killer. With her past rushing to the forefront of this new thriller, will Bex be able to resolve the family issues that have brought her back? Will she prove once and for all that her husband was murdered? And, will Cole be able to find the killer before Bex is in her sights once again?
A great novel that will keep you on your toes throughout. I could not put it down.
I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

This book is the sixth one in the Detective Bex Wynter Files series and the story actually has her returning to New York. There are sudden problems with funding the half- way house she set up after her husband, Zane’s sudden death and had left her friend and ex-cop Walt to run. She takes leave from her job in London with the youth crimes team and travels back to her parents. After a quick visit with them, she sets herself up in the city, as that is where she is needed the most. She has a fight on her hands and it will be even more complex than she could ever comprehend.

There are multiple strands being interlinked in this storyline, a former colleague turned serial killer who has escaped from the authorities, an junkie ex-wife, a missing son, and so much more. This has little to do with Bex’s new job and so much to do with her own past and her husband’s death in a car accident. Bex always said there had been headlights on the road when they crashed, but her colleagues and friends, both then and now, believe she was looking for reasons for Zane’s death and that this is not healthy for her. They want her to get over his death and not keep up this hunt for someone else to be responsible.

Bex has a secret of her own she needs to tell someone about, but when will be the right time? There is just too much going on to have any time for her own problems. Her old friends come to her aid in fighting a legal battle that has come out of nowhere. Someone wants her out of the way permanently and an old foe finds out where she is and Bex’s life is put in danger again. A recent death makes her think again about Zane’s cause of death, a sudden heart attack, making him crash the car, and she starts some research with the coroner and online.

Her research is making someone nervous and clues lead her to a medical facility that also has links to the foe that got away. How deep Bex wants to dig into the death, leaves her friends and family worried about her sanity and whether she will ever get over Zane’s death, the reason she had left everything behind and gone to London, for a fresh start. But it isn’t, if she can’t overcome Zane’s death and his gift to her, of love and the insurance money to put towards the half-way house. Two of the main storylines begin to gather people together in an amazing climax and has someone close to her, an almost complete stranger, as well as herself, caught in the hands of a mad serial killer. This foe may be too much for her to handle and could be the death of her or some of those close to her. It’s so hard not to mention names or give away parts of the story, but I want to leave other readers as amazed as I was!

This book has been one of the most complex ones I have read in this series. The multiple plots within the storyline have been weaved together as if written in a masterclass. Readers finally get to learn a lot more about what made Bex come to London, how Zane died and the effect this had on her. Also a bit more on her old New York cop buddies, both ex and current, and their support of her after this hard event. Rather than going onto another youth crime case, this has really set the series apart from others! It has gone back into her past, yet managed to ramp up the danger, action and intrigue, even more than usual.

A fantastic read, which I would wholly recommend to all! I read it straight through in just a few hours as once you start, you won’t want to put this book down. This, I would say, has been the author’s best book yet! I received an ARC copy of this book from the author, but I have also bought the book, as I have the rest of the series, as this author has become one of my favourites in this genre. It is so easy to recommend this book to one and all. I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

I have loved this entire series! It grabs you from page one, keeps your heart pounding, your emotions all over the place, left me angry! Bex has a typical modern-day feminist problem; she wants to do everything on her own! Heaven forbid, she tells Cole, who has been as profoundly hurt as Bex, yet, he has been open with her, he cares for her, and her safety! After what she does to him at the end of this book, I hope he dumps her! She has to be the hero; she has to be in control, she keeps from him, the one thing besides her, that would give him tremendous joy! I did like the series; I was gobsmacked, as they say in England, by the ending of this book! While reading, you are so hooked by this author, I read the first five books in a row, lost sleep, exhausted the next day, could not wait to get back to reading; then bam, you feel as though you have been slapped in the face!
I highly recommend! Thanks!

Best so far in an exceptional series. I need more stars; 5 aren’t enough for this book! OMG, by the time I got halfway through the book I was suspecting almost everyone of something nefarious and questioning much of what I thought I knew about certain events — even ones that took place in earlier books. There were so many twists and turns, just as I thought I had one piece of the puzzle figured out, a new piece of information changed everything. It was great to go back to New York and get to know Bex and late husband Zane’s family, friends and former colleagues better. Some long-standing questions were finally answered but we are left wondering about other things. A must read.

This is a terrific series. Bex Wynter takes a job in London in Book 1 and each book builds from her job in London but always keeping an eye on how Zane died. In this latest book, she is notified that the past is coming to take over her home for boys in need. Cole is tracking down Sofie Dresdon and when she is lured back to London the hunt is one. Did she plant the bomb? How did she get in and out of the country without being detected. It is a nail biter from almost the first page. I love this series. Must admit the ending was not what I hoped but we will find out more in the next book and that's a good thing.

I've read every book in this series and enjoyed them all but this book gave me everything I needed to know about Bex's prior life before London. The book helped clear up many loose ends and had more action than I expected. If you're looking for a different kind of police procedural, do yourself a favor and read this series. It is thoroughly enjoyable. I received this book from the author. My review is all my own because as an avid reader, I want others to enjoy the experience as much as I have.

This book is definitely the best of the series. Partially I liked it because it cleared up many loose ends from the earlier books, but mainly I found the style of writing perfect for telling a story with so many subplots and issues the reader can't stop. The quality of writing is such that many things fly by, and there is no problem keeping everything connected where it belongs. So many issues in the story turn back on themselves and develop connections that tie many issues together. The only problem I have with this is that so many issues are satisfied an encore will be impossible.

Wow. Gets better every new book. Love this series.

Finally get to find out what really happened the night Zane died, and if Bex's memories regarding the car are true. If Zane was murdered as Bex believes, the heart attack is clarified, but the how it was done and if there is a 'who and why did it', I never figured out till it was time. It as part of what keep me so engrossed in the book.

Real happy with the way all the lose ends were tied up at the end.

This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.

Great read. I have now finished all 6 books within a week! So following other's and my advice, once you start to read this series you can't put them down. Each book gets better than the previous, maybe because you find out more about the characters and begin to feel as if you are in the story with them. I certainly felt emotional through the ending of this one (no spoilers). But what do I now read? Have to wait for next instalment and find another book or two to keep me going (don't worry, my TBR pile on Kindle is huge!!!!) Well done Elleby for the Bex Wynter stories.

I started this series with the first book and each one is better than the last. The main character, Bex Wynter, is a widow with a lot of hidden grief. She was on the police force in New York and after her husband's death she transferred to London. This book has her going back to New York on family business regarding her husband's finances. Little does she know, this might put her in unexpected danger. This book kept me up reading and I totally enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next.

Another AWESOME READ by Elleby Harper!!

Killing Time is a Definitely a MUST READ!!
Bex is back in America and slammed back into Police Work. All the issues from her Husband, Zane's death come back at her.
These compelling stories will keep the reader coming back for more.
If you haven't read any previous books, you'll be wanting to go to book one, to catch up on how Bex got to this point in time!!
PS: I'd give this series of books, 10 stars each, if I could!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Another hit!

Once again Elleby Harper pens another thrilling roller coaster ride featuring Bex Wynter. This time we enjoy her in her native habitat of NYC and meet her father as well as her ex-partner and father-in-law. Of course action ensues and the ending leads us towards the next installment which I can’t wait to read! If you haven’t discovered Bex Wynter yet give it a try, you won’t regret it.

Each Detective Bex Wynter Files series book seems like the best one right after I finish it. I really like this series. Bex is smart, strong, and courageous. Her personal life is not so easily described. The best I can say is it is a work in progress and police detectives don’t get a lot of personal time to work on their issues. Most of Killing Time takes place in NYC, so it doesn’t involve her team. However, she faces lots of unexpected action, so it is a good read.

Every time Ms Harper writes another book in this series I can't put it down. And every time I think it's the best so far - but  it seems as if Ms Harper found her voice in dramatic fashion with Killing Time. Puzzles are completed, more puzzles are unravelled, and Bex Wynter becomes more fascinating with each book. Excellent writing.
