Short, rich, and handsome, Lin Feiran was always the center of attention. But after transferring schools in his second year of high school, he discovered that his limelight was snatched by his Adonis classmate, Gu Kaifeng.
Lin Feiran was very resentful, and he and Gu Kaifeng became archnemesis (one-sidedly). Although the two lived together, they were like strangers.
When Lin Feiran went back home to attend his grandfather’s funeral, he accidentally inherited the Yin-Yang eyes that had been passed down from generation to generation. After gaining the ability to see ghosts, the timid Lin Feiran discovered that his two-person dormitory was actually a sixteen-person (ghost) room. Every day, he was scared to the point of collapsing.
The more aggravating thing is that because of Gu Kaifeng’s innate body constitution, he possessed an abundant amount of Yang energy. Gu Kaifeng is the only humanoid amulet he can rely on. Lin Feiran found out that whenever he touched Gu Kaifeng, Gu Kaifeng’s Yang energy could temporarily disable his Yin-Yang eyes. If you touch him, you can see the ghost for five minutes, and take the pen he used for twenty minutes. Wearing his original clothes for about two hours. To this end, Lin Feiran tries to stick to this yang extractor. Just sticking and sticking... Ah, how is this atmosphere like falling in love? !
Lin Feiran had no choice but to throw himself into his archnemesis’s embrace.
Gu Kaifeng doesn't like Lin Feiran very much!
Although this transfer student and roommate is completely his favorite type from head to toe, but the sly look is really not pleasing. He didn’t expect to care for him with a fever, but the little fool would become a small sticky cake. Drilling him into the bed, hiding his pen, wearing his clothes, not separating for five minutes. Every day, he couldn’t help himself, so he couldn’t help but ask ─ Lin Feiran, do you like me?

man.... Don't You Like Me has pleasantly surprised me. I'm gonna be honest I wasn't expecting to love this book as much as I did. In danmei it's a sad truth that the actual romance part is often left out until the last few chapters, mostly in historical but also a lot of modern novels. Don't You Like Me threw all of that out the window with the constant need of physical contact between the main characters. Nothing crazy just a little tap on the shoulder to not see a half headed ghost during math! It does however make you excited to see just how adorable the main CP will be once they really get together. Although there isn't much to see other than the main CP, there are some snippets of side characters that will pull you into the story just enough to absolutely adore it.
The author... I seriously LOVE you ! I haven't read anything else by this author and don't even know if they have any other works but believe me if they do I'll read it. I wouldn't even care if it was danmei or a subject that didn't interest me because the writing of this author is just that amazing. It's not like they're some sort of poet or write the most beautiful sentences. The writing just makes it so easy for you to dive into the book and the pacing of the story is comfortable and it's all just RIGHT.
In the end we are blessed with 33, yes you heard me 50% more of the original 66 chapters, extra's and boy you're gonna need them. The story didn't really have a closing in that sense so these extra's make you feel like you can enjoy the story a little while longer before you have to come to terms with the fact that yes the book did indeed end.
A magnificent 5/5 score for Don't You Like Me with a definite reread in the future!
guess i’m entering my danmei drought because ugh i cannot keep on reading this anymore
i loved loved looooved this from the start but once i hit 40% all interest flew out the door. why you ask? yeah idk i was having so much fun until i wasn’t anymore.
so soft dnf for now because i still have 30+ chapters & 30 some extras and i don’t think i can push through it right now
from what i did read of this it was definitely a 4 star read for me. the characters were endearing & the humor was unhinged in the best of ways. one day i’ll revisit lin feiran, gu kaifeng, and all the ghosts. i’m too invested to never give it another try once i’m in the right mood 🫡
Really sweet, fun and quick read inbetween long series. Not an all time fave as the middle dragged a little bit but the ending made up for it.
Would've liked a little bit more explanation as to why the MC was unable to tell the ML about his ghost seeing abilities and to spend more time with the side characters which were under-developed.
The story is only 66 chapters long. Can't comment on the 33 extra chapters as I felt like I got everything from the main story so didn't bother reading them.
I was looking for a short book with fluff and I got a whole lotta fluffy moments from this. I enjoyed their antics and the small story arcs with the different ghosts.
It started really strong, but when it got to the part where Gu Kaifeng confessed his feelings, I didn’t like it as much. He was being really pushy even when Lin Feiran told him to stop (which, yes, Lin Feiran didn’t want him to stop, but still), and I’m not into the whole “no means yes” trope or dynamic.
Strong start, but it didn’t deliver the way I wanted it to. The main pairing was cute most of the time, but it wasn’t my favorite. Still, not a terrible read.
2.7/5. the ghost story is wholesome. it's funny, and they're cute.
but wang zhuo baby thing happen, and this is about a pair of literal minor doing that thing for the entire book, so it's very uncomfortable to read.
I love Gu Kaifeng and Lin Feiran. They're amazing. Although they're the typical danmei couple trope and very, "heteronormative", and extremely a living Gary Stu, they're adorable.
But you know what? The extras are boring and the all the touch and sex things is very uncomfortable to read.
Do consider before reading this lol.
Decent enough though.
If they focused on how they are getting together, and focused on the ghost hunting, this would be a 4 star read at least.
What I loved about this book was the plot, I loved all the ghosts stories, everyone has a beautiful and hearth breaking story, they left me thinking about life and my wishes.
I believe this story deserves 5 stars just because of the amazing ghost plot but the "relationship" is what stains this nice book.
Mainly the Main Character (Lin Feiran) is a good guy, a little bit narcissistic and shy, he hated his roommate the "Love Interest" (Gu Kaifeng) because he was "better" than him in everything but once he gets the ability to see ghosts he sticks to him 24/7 because every time he touches him he can stop seeing the frightening ghosts (He's scared to death by them, he hates ghosts and everything supernatural) for a short period of time.
Now my problem here is, there's no relationship in reality, he really just wants to stop seeing ghosts, the love was one-sided from beginning to end, even if like by half of the story the MC starts questioning his sexuality and "falls in love" with the LI, ( he gives us some hints he's gay like he never really liked porn or he has never dated any girl because he does not feel nothing with them at the start, so he did not "convert" because of the LI) it does not feel like something that happened because he actually likes the LI, everything was because he needed him, he never really liked him and the scenes with spicy/fluff moments and kisses fell flat and awkward.
In reality everything about this couple feels awkward because it's one-sided, even when the MC feels like he's actually in love with the LI you get this sense of "this dude is quite brainwashing himself to justify using the LI" There's really no love, the author just added a lot of fluff and cute scenes to make this "love" seem more organic, but you can't overlook how sad it is, the LI really likes the MC but the MC just wants to stop seeing ghosts.
We can see how terrible awkward this is by some simple scenes for example when the MC discovers that the LI dog has high yang energy thus does not need the LI to stop seeing the ghosts he stops being "sticky" and he turns back to being himself, even getting a little mad when the LI starts acting a little sticky, you can sense how he really wants nothing to do with him, he just wants to stop seeing all those terrific things.
I finished the book because the plot is really interesting, the ghosts are really unique and they have a really interesting personality, I loved every and each of them, I sort of wish this book was just about the ghosts.
In conclusion the plot is amazing, the couple plot is terrible and sort of wish it didn't existed at all.
This story was a whole lotta fluff without much story, imo. I liked the premise, that the main character Lin Feiran inherited his grandfather's ability to see ghosts, and he can temporarily stop this by taking absorbing his roommate Gu Kaifeng's strong yang energy. However, in order to do so, he needs to touch Gu Kaifeng constantly, giving GKF some wrong ideas about LFR's feelings towards him.
Their relationship is a main focus of the book, but I wasn't a huge fan of it given LFR's dependency on GKF. What makes it worse is that LFR can't communicate anything to anyone about his ability to see ghosts, so he can only go along with GKF's flirting if he wants to keep taking advantage of GKF's yang energy. Though it was amusing to see how shameless LFR's excuses got in order to keep GKF around, switching desks in class to sit next to him and even going to the bathroom or showers together with him.
The main story points are about LFR's interactions with various ghosts around school and his attempts to fulfill their wishes so that they can either move on and enter the reincarnation cycle or stay on earth as a non-vengeful spirit. I thought these were fun, especially once LFR shared his yin energy with GKF and they were able to help the ghosts together.
Here's a cute quote from the story:
“When I remember that we couldn’t be together in our previous lifetimes, I feel that I have to treasure you even more now. I have to stick to you as much as I can.” Even though it was hot out, Lin Feiran wrapped his arms around Gu Kaifeng’s upper body like a koala, using his Little Sticky Cake Technique to its fullest extent to stick to Gu Kaifeng with his whole body.
It was a very enjoyable read. While it includes a ghost element, it’s definitely not a horror story. I highly recommend it if you're looking for something to lift your mood.
Lin Feiran and Gu Kaifeng are quite a comedic duo despite their antagonistic start and then slightly disturbing reasons for getting together.
After gaining the Yin-Yang eyes, which allow Lin Feiran to see ghosts – many of whom are quite crass, blood thirsty and genuinely terrifying – his school life seems to be going downhill fast. And they are spread throughout the school in fact— classrooms, dormitories and even the bathroom!
It is at this point that the MC realises that the only way to cancel out this power is to come in contact with the ML, Gu Kaifeng, a classmate with a huge amount of Yang energy to counteract the Yin of the ghosts and thus block Lin Feiran's ability.
I'll admit that this was a truly hilarious ride from the start, and that their slowly progressing relationship was fun to read. Especially with all the unintentional, yet necessary misunderstandings. Even the mini-mysteries surrounding the ghosts were enjoyable.
My major complaint would probably be that the main story ends quite early, and then we are just left with 30 chapters of extras, which are frankly not needed. They're well written, but it drags on too long.
Also, around the time where the MC and ML confirm their relationship, the story suddenly becomes way more romance focused than before. Personally, wasn't a fan of it. Even so, a good read, and well translated as well!
This book was so much fun 😂!! I'm gonna miss sticky cake Li Feiran and doting boyfriend Gu Kaifeng's antics.
I had a great time reading. There was no complex plot, no angst, and no relationship problems of any kind. It was just a sweet and funny story about two idiot high school students falling in love and making everyone feel single (I have never eaten so much dog food before). The supernatural aspect was the cherry on top. Some of those ghosts had heartbreaking stories and I teared up a little.
Adorable couple dynamics and amazing character growth too!
110% pure sweetness. Loved every moment <3 I thought it would be just lovey dovey but I was pleasantly surprised by the touching small story arcs and the main character's development. I would love to one day write stories like this, very minimal conflict/heartache and yet kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time! So much respect for the author!
Love this one!! The main character start seeing ghost once his grandfather died. He is totally frightened but then he discover that the ghost disappear when he's touching his archenemy and roomate !
So yes, he start to be veeeery close to him so of course the roomate misunderstood the situation and thinks that he is actually in love with him!
Funny, intriguing and so beautiful slow burn romance 💕
As many of the novels I've read that had this "fluffy" or "funny" concept, this one also catches you by the feels. You laugh with the characters and AT them, because they're clearly written to make stupid decisions, but that's what's fun in it. It gets deeper along with characters development, which also makes you wanna keep reading.
The first few chapters didn’t excite me, but fortunately it got funnier with every chapter. The misunderstanding, the thirst, the fluff and the abundant dog food we’re fed with. 😂😍 It’s an angst-free comedy, and the couple’s antics didn’t fail to make me laugh.
The fantasy element is simple, but is explained well to make it a solid world building. There are some touching stories involving MC’s ability, too.
What I also appreciate is that these two people have flaws. They’re also not at the top of their class like in many school-settings danmei. Of course, they’re still somewhere in the uppermost, and they’re the most handsome boys in school and loaded, too. 😂
I’ve never read so many extras in my life. They were fine, but I did wish they were shorter!
Anyway, recommended for those who want pure comedy & fluff.
I thought this book was charming. The misunderstanding in the beginning was hilarious, and was smoothly resolved later. I like how the author doesn't drag out the book too much. She ends it clearly, and adds a couple of side stories to slowly ease the reader off the story.
I really enjoyed their adventures helping ghosts fulfill their wishes - it almost felt like a bunch of mini stories inside this one story. I would have loved to learn more about their past lives, but I guess the author wanted to leave us guessing.
Overall, I think this was a sugary, warm story. It gently teaches appreciation for family heritage (though not at the cost of your own happiness), why people shouldn't let prejudices prevent them from befriending someone, and not to judge a ghost by their appearance.
cute little novel to read, a good length with fun characters, and even though there's half the length again in extras, the stories fit in well and it's a nice rounded ending, I loved reading lin feiran trying to figure everything out
I really like the dynamic between Lin Feiran and Gu Kaifeng. It seems like the typical “I’m totally straight” to falling head over heels with a man kinda trope, and the author plays into our fantasies so well. Anything the readers wish for comes true; it seems like the author is as dirty minded as us 😭. We have Feiran, the little cute straight male who adamantly states that he is straight while making very suggestive moves on Kaifeng that would make anyone think otherwise. Kaifeng is literally the epitome of ‘I just work here’ and accepts the advances. We need justice for Kaifeng as this boy is getting LED on, poor guy. I love how Kaifeng teases Feiran and Feiran is just so oblivious to everything 😭 this guy is really dumb. I also like how Feiran is so competitive with Kaifeng, and Kaifeng just thinks it’s cute 😭.
A huge part of the charm is the physical affection. I loveee the subtle touches Feiran gives Kaifeng and the touches Kaifeng reciprocates only to Feiran. They’re very affectionate in ways that give me butterflies. I think this novel has the best romance in terms of actual physical affection; it’s very satisfying. OMG the smut and the details of the reactions are written so well oh my gosh I’m getting butterflies. The humor is also cute and funny. It's not like ROFL, but I'll give it a little giggle.
However, there were moments that made me pause. If Kaifeng wasn’t fine asf, he’d be a hella creep. What is he doing going around calling Feiran baby 😭 it’s a little weird. I didn't know how to feel about their first kiss. While it was cute and a mess of emotions, Kaifeng basically did force himself onto Feiran without consent. Although Feiran did lead him on with the incessant touches, it’s never okay to do something like that without the others consent. It’s a good thing that Feiran liked it or else there would’ve been a worse outcome. There was also this other moment with a forceful nerdy energy that was really weird. Feiran even said no adamantly. It’s good he knows his limits; with someone else, things might go wrong.
Beyond the romance, I like the ghost-saving aspect where the two find ghosts and help them to reincarnate. I think it’s a nice little addition that strengthens the bond of the two MLs as well as adds some variety into the novel.
Just finished the novel, and some things I wanna add were that I didn’t grow bored of the couple at all after they became a couple, which usually happens when the romance is lackluster. I also like their friends’ side/love story, it was so cute!! Overall, the story and fluff were cute, but it did not leave much of an impression.

He's fun, I can say that.
Casi me pongo a llorar, ADORÉ.
