I adored Anna Bloom’s Tears of… trilogy and was excited for Scars of Silk. It’s a spin-off with characters I really enjoyed, and I was curious to see how everything played out between them.

I’m going to be honest and say this is best read if you have knowledge of the Tears of… series. This is more a companion story than a story within itself, and it wasn’t quite what I’d expected. There was so much talk of what was going on in the final Tears of… book that it was like reading the story all over again. I’d been expecting more of a standalone novel, a novel that would stand well without needing knowledge of the Tears off… series, and this wasn’t quite that.

Don’t get me wrong, it was an enjoyable quick read. It was one I powered through, finishing in no time at all. I had fun seeing more of the characters, it was interesting to get an insight into their lives, but I’d been hoping for more. We only touched the surface with them, and I wanted to go even deeper into their stories.

For fans of the Tears of… series, this is a nice little bonus. It’s not my favourite in the series, but it works as a nice extra.

Oh, dear... This book is almost perfect. I loved every minute reading it. Dan and Sienna are awesome and have so much potential. Not only their stories but also their characters themselves. I really do wish this book was longer and the author would have dug deeper in certain topics here and there. Everything went so fast... However, I thoroughly enjoyed Scars of Silk and I love that Dan got also his well deserved happy ending.

Scars of Silk is fast ride thorough happenings parallel to Tears Of God, telling Dan's and Sienna's story. It pulls you through a roller-coaster of emotions in the best possible way.

Can I ask for more, please?

Wow...
ONE WORD: 𝑰𝑵𝑻𝑬𝑵𝑺𝑬

*Squeeeeeee* Yay!! Dan my Man is getting his own story. I cannot be more thrilled. I feel like finding the author and hugging her!

As you may have noticed, this author is not new to me. I did, however only discover her a few months ago with her Tears Of Ink series and let me say this now if you haven't read that series yet. 𝗜𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗔 𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗. Scars of Silk is a spin-off from that series. It is stand-alone so you don't need to read the others, but if you want to get a better feel for this story then it is recommended.

From the moment Dan came into the picture in Tears of Ink series, I knew he needed his own story, so when I got word that this author was writing it. I was beyond excited!

Dan was in love with his best friend. So after tragedy struck and he was left grieving, alone and struggling to keep his head above water... He expected his best friend to be by his side, he expected her to save him... But it wasn't her that did.. It was the last person he ever expected. A socialite, with beauty, grace, and glam. She was polished and proper, and a woman living a luxury life.

Sienna took me by surprise... I'll be honest, at first, I didn't get a good vibe from her, but as I got deeper into her side of the story, I could see that she was also struggling with her life, and trying to break free from her family. Having to always live up to their standards, and trying to live up to this picture perfect daughter that they wanted her to be. It would be enough to drive anyone crazy. While trying to break free from the shackles that are her family, she never thought her freedom would be a tattooed man from the other side of the tracks.

These two were the definition of opposites attract. They could not be any more different than they already are. Dan was the bad boy, with tattoos and she was the prim and proper beauty queen and poster girl for all things that screamed 𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗘. They were exactly what each other needed...It was intense, they were forbidden in a sense, and it was addictive and consumed me from page 1. But things aren't that easy, in both their worlds and they knew going into this that all it could ever be was a casual fling.

I loved these two. At first, I struggled to connect with Sienna, but the girl grew on me more and more, and I found myself cheering her on, cheering her and Dan on, hoping that they would see that what was between them was always going to be more than just a fling.

I couldn't get enough of this!! I loved it. I loved how Ms. Bloom weaved her words together and mastered this plot perfectly. I loved seeing them both grow, and become stronger together.

I am so glad the author made this book happen!

5 Stars!

This is Dan's turn to shine but boy did his story hurt. We find Dan in a dark place, he's lost full of self doubt and alone. For someone with such self destructive tendencies this is the worst thing that could happen. Sienna is struggling under the expectations of her family. I will admit to questioning her motives previously but we get to see a different side to her. When they meet it's not just sparks flying it's like an explosion. I would have liked more character background on Sienna but it didn't deter from my enjoyment of the story.

If you have yet to read the ‘Tears of’ trilogy by Anna Bloom then please do so. Not only have you missed out on reading the most incredible book series, but Scars of Silk is the story of Dan and Sienna who you will have already met in all three books. I personally feel that knowing the history of the characters and the story line from the trilogy would be beneficial, but if you wanted to start Scars of Silk right now then I’m certain you will love and enjoy this fabulous book equally as much.

Scars of Silk is one book that I have been desperate to read. In the trilogy Dan Smith is one of Faith’s best friends and sometimes when reading a book you don’t look too closely at secondary characters. I loved having Dan in the spotlight in this novel as I really wanted to get to know more about him and discover the man beneath the tattoos. I had no idea that Dan would end up owning a piece of my heart. His story definitely needed to be told because so many preconceptions that I had about him changed as I turned the pages of this book. I loved taking the time to learn more about him and discover his feelings and witness what he went and continued to go through. I was hooked from the very first chapter and I so desperately wanted Dan to get his life back on track.

As I’ve already mentioned, Sienna Richards is another character from the trilogy and I found myself totally intrigued by her. I found Sienna not to be the person I originally thought she was and I really want you to meet the real her. My opinion of her certainly differs because of what I’ve learned about her in Scars of Silk and I think you’ll find her story fascinating too.

I love a book that has me gripped from the very beginning. I love a book that has me changing my opinions about people and situations, and also one that enables me to discover an individual underneath the persona displayed to others. Scars of Silk ticked every single one of my boxes. By the time I reached the epilogue I really didn’t want to read it, and the reason behind that was that I simply didn’t want to say goodbye to the characters that I have grown to love and end the incredible journey that this fabulous series has taken me on. This will always be one of my top favourites. Anna Bloom has never disappointed me when I’ve picked up one of her books, and I hope you enjoy this as much as I have.

We originally met Dan in the Tears Of… trilogy as he is Faith’s best friend. He finds himself alone and floundering uncertain how to pull himself out of the black hole he finds himself in. He seeks one night of comfort in the arms of a woman who is his complete opposite but one night may not be enough.

Sienna has been told her whole life that appearances are everything. She comes from a wealthy privileged family but all she wants is to break free and doesn’t know how. She is drawn to Dan with his dark demeanor and tattoos but knows that they can never have more than one night.

These two couldn’t be more different or more perfect together. They both bear the scars of their pasts but the way they help each other heal is beautiful to watch.

Scars of Silk by Anna Bloom is book 4 in A Tears of Ink Series. This is the story of Sienna Richards and Dan Smith. I haven't yet read the previous books so I did make this a standalone book. With that said I did feel that if I would have read the previous books, it would have added to my understanding of this one.
Dan is in a low place after things that went down. But the one that came to him was Sienna, someone he never expected too. Sienna's family is all about looks and keeping up appearances but Sienna has been wanting to cut free of their hold and that stigma. Dan is the total opposite of her and her family but she feels something in him that she wants to look into.
Enjoyed their story!

So I obviously know this Is a separate book for the Tears Of series but to me this is a much needed part as my head would never have settled if I never knew Dan's story lol

Pretty much going over alot that happened in book 3 (Tears Of Gold) this tell you the story of Dan and his feelings for Faith and where his life went next ... I'm so glad we got this book as that man had certainly gone through every single drama right alongside Faith and still didnt get the ending he actually wanted....but will that all change in this book when we see how Sienna manages to slip into his life without either rof them even trying.

Full of emotions and turmoil this is the ending that Dan needed to start his life again.

This is the latest in the series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not that keen on Dan in the previous book, where we first met him, but this one gave more on his background and I could empathise with him more. The main characters - Dan and Sienna - both had traumatic pasts, but the book kept us guessing as to where they'd end up. This was gifted to me as an ARC.

Scars of Silk is written from Dan's POV. Throughout the series I felt sad for Dan. Though he could have told Faith his true feelings at a way earlier time, but I have a feeling that wouldn't have changed anything. He really had a life of being the hero and once he started to spiral, he needed his own hero. And that hero would be Sienna. Funny how the characters turned out in the end.

I simply adored Anna's Tears of.... Series and in that my heart broke for Dan, to the extent that I annoyed Anna that she needed to give him a good story, a happy ending and she certainly didn't disappoint me!!

If you haven't read the Tears of series then I highly advise you do, not that this can't be read as a standalone but it will spoil your enjoyment if you read this first as it runs parallel to Tears of Gold

Once I started this on a Sunday afternoon I couldn't put it down and devoured it quite quickly. It was such a roller-coaster of emotions reading this and I felt every single one of them. Anna has really knocked it out of the park with these books. Her best to date!!

Dan is one of Faith's (from Tears Of) best friend, practically her family. They have been through so much together he is lost at the moment and in a really dark place. I wanted to see him get his life back on track,to get to know him and for him to get his HEA as he deserved it.

Sienna is another character we have met in Tears Of. My opinion changed throughout this book on Sienna as I wasn't too much of a fan of her before. In the Tears of series she is the last person I would have put with Dan but seeing them together I can see how they fit. They are two damaged souls that may actually bring each other back to life.

I am sad to say goodbye to these characters as I have loved every word. Well done Anna for a phenomenal story

I absolutely LOVE the Tears Of series, and Dan absolutely needed his own story, although I wasn't happy with him when Scars of Silk started, and that's what made it hard for me at the beginning. I know it doesn't make sense, but if you read the trilogy, you may or may not understand, since him being in love with his best friend definitely had him doing some douchey things. On top of it, I wasn't a big fan of Sienna either, so this pairing was a surprise, but once I got past the surprise, it was very intriguing to be honest. Both of them have demons, but they're from different sides of the tracks that's for sure. She's a socialite whose family would never accept him, while he's the tatted up bad boy, but their chemistry was intense, so their affair was on the down low since it wouldn't be denied as they set the sheets on fire. However, this story was off the charts filled with angst, as Ms. Bloom with all of her talent, made sure that I really started to see inside of both of them, so my dislike of them dissipated more & more with each chapter. Now I guess the question is, do they grow into more than just a casual fling?! Well, you'll have to actually one click this baby to find out because nothing is ever cut & dried in Anna Bloom's world! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Hes on a path of destruction, oblivion and losing the chance for a tomorrow. He wants to remove himself from the memories and what hes truly lost.

She longs for freedom. To choose her own path, be who she wants to be, but it comes with a hefty price.

They both long for a future without pain and sorrow. Will they ever get it...?

The characters in this book already have a special place in my heart as it's a continuation of the "Tears of" series which I'm loving!

The characters and storyline are woven together, threaded through and pulled tight, to give more insight and depth into the mind and thought process of Dan.

His dark soul is bared for all to witness, and whilst some of the material is hard to read, it's written in a way that makes you understand and sympathise.

Dan is in pain, but underneath that is a true friend, a survivor someone you want on your side.

Sienna is tired, time is running out for her but shes a fighter. Her compassion is beautiful and her heart pure.

I think to enjoy this to the fullest you do need to have read the earlier "Tears of" books, as there are lots of references to past events which were explored.

A fantastic series that I'm enjoying sooo much!

" So many secrets. So many damaged shards of who we are. Two broken people. Him with his bruises, and me with my aching hollow in the place of my heart. "

If you haven't had the opportunity to read Faith's story you should start there. This picks up a few months before Faith and Elijah's story comes full circle. Nice try but No I'm not spoiling anything.

Dan is in a really dark place. He wants it all to stop but he doesn't. Just a chance to sleep, if only for a little while.
He has the biggest heart and the savior syndrome runs strong in his blood. Oh (fanning my self) but when it comes to closed doors and Ms. Sienna his sense of control never falters. Those two are Hot together.

Sienna is a bit like a ravenous viper. She sees something in Dan that calls to her on a personal level. It reflects in his eyes, those crystal windows to his soul. His pain and something else, something he is trying to hide. She has decided to call him on it.

Spark meet Kindling!

I wanted Dan to get his HEA and Anna Bloom delivered.
Could there have been a bit more - definitely?
Are there questions rolling around in my head that demand answers - you know it.
Would I read this over and over -

You guys have no idea how happy it made my heart to read Dan and Sienna’s happily ever after. While I absolutely loved Faith and Elijah’s story in the back of my mind, I couldn’t help but root for Dan, empathizing so much with his hurt and feeling of loneliness I couldn’t help but get invested and fall for this character from the moment I met him in Tears of Ink. He was the underdog, the best friend who had to watch the girl he believed himself to be in love with love someone else and my heart absolutely broke for him. Enter Sienna, a woman who’d been running away from her own personal hell at home with a father who manipulated his daughter into doing what he wanted by holding her mother essentially at knife point. Sienna and Dan were two damaged souls who couldn’t have found each other at the most perfect time, at a time when they needed each other the most to realize how much life is worth fighting for. I don’t know if we’ll hear more from these characters but I can happily say that the author ended this book in a way that made me feel happy with how everything turned out for these characters.

A light read

I enjoyed this spin-off from the Tears of Ink series, which you should read before-hand. However, it didn’t quite deliver as it’s predecessor. I wanted more in terms of character progression and I didn’t quite buy the insta love between Dan and Sienna.

The storyline runs parallel to events in Tears of Ink, so I was disappointed not to see a much anticipated reconciliation for Dan and his so called bestie. I struggled to comprehend why you wouldn’t visit a lifelong friend who’s been viciously attacked, hospitalised and unconscious. I again, had to question Dan’s and Elijah’s motives.

When I reached 95%, I was convinced that there would be a second book, only to be underwhelmed with the abrupt conclusion and left with loose ends, such as Vinny.

Anna Bloom is a talented author and I will read any future books, but please work on the editing. There were a lot of grammatical errors, which is a huge bug bear of mine. It ruins the experience of the reader and I can’t fathom, why you would work so hard to get your work published in a less than perfect format.

*4.5* After getting bits and pieces of Dan in the Tears of Ink trilogy we finally get his story. If definitely did not disappoint. Though I have to admit I only gave it 4.5 stars because I wish it was longer. I love Sienna. I'll admit I wasn't a fan of hers in the previous books but she slowly started redeeming herself. I love that she got her HEA in this book, even if they were keeping it on the down low. After her socialite life she needed some privacy. Dan angered me. He really pissed me off. But as we got to know him, and Sienna infiltrated his life more, I started to like him better. I love that he finally let go of his anger and the past and started working toward his future; a future that would make him happy. I would have loved to see more of this couple but I'm so happy for the two of them that I'm okay with what we got. Maybe we'll see more of them in future books... one can only hope. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*

When you put together two characters that are complete opposites, this is what you get. This author gives you this nugget of gold that is Dan’s story. And it is one beautiful, emotional, steamy story of two star crossed lovers who can have everything they’ve ever needed. It is one of rebirth and seeing what is right in front of you. The words are magical and come to life on the pages from the first word. The emotion, forbidden aspects, and overall struggle will make you fall in love with these characters and author.

Dan and Sienna are what I would call “star crossed lovers”. They are from opposite sides of the tracks and should not be together and want each other. The circumstances where they meet makes you want to cry because Dan wants his best friend, not Sienna. Their story is one of emotion, wanting what you shouldn’t have, and raw - off the charts passion. I loved these two and felt the connection between them. This a must read by this author. You will he hooked!!!

if you have read Anna Bloom's Tears of trilogy you will know that Dan featured a lot in it as one of the best friends of Faith since childhood, this is now Dan's story, a perfect end to this epic series.

After his dad died and Faith left him for another man, Dan was at rock bottom, he was going in the ring fighting, coming out battered and bruised, but he didn't care it was stopping other pain in his heart, he was broken, that was until he met Sienna again, she was way above his league, or so he thought.

Senna was once engaged to Eli, who is now in love with Faith, although on the surface she seems to be all together, rich, successful and privileged, she was broken inside, behind the smile she was hurting, that was until fate brought her together with Dan.

After we saw Faith get her HEA, it was so nice to see Dan get his, I loved all four of these books, they are a must read, well done Anna on a brilliant series again. They leave you wanting more.

It's hard to read Dan's story and not have so much of it already told thru the Tears Series. The problem with that is if you haven't read the Tears Series then you are kind of dropped into the story. Dan just fell apart when his father passed, then in his mind loosing Faith there just was nothing left. Not even his love for Abi and her family was enough to stop his spiral. Until Sienna. She took an interest in Dan and his well being because of her own past. A past that was very much alive in a father who used his abuse of her mother to keep her in line. These two and their story is one of healing for both of them. What started as casual, just one night, ended up being a lifeline to better. We do get their story and we get their new birth. You won't be disappointed because this author is just that good and that's just one of many reasons I keep coming back.

TITLE: Scars of Silk
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
AUTHOR: Anna Bloom
TROPE: Secret Relationship
TYPE: Standalone (Tears of Ink Book 4)
POV: Dual POV
MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

⚠️ Check trigger warnings; this dark content is for +18 readers.

Dan & Sienna's story was a great addition to the series. The timeline runs parallel to the Tears of Ink trilogy, but even though I read the books back to back, the storyline did not feel repetitive and filled in times when we did not see Dan & Sienna in the previous books. I was happy to understand Dan and all he was going through, which impacted his friendship with Faith. I felt Sienna was the perfect fit for Dan, and even though he struggled, he remained likeable. I am giving Scars of Silk a rating of 4 / 5 Stars, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Faith & Eli's story.

A bonus book to the trilogy - Dan and Sienna's story. 💜 A book I totally loved and was glad it was a only one installment, but a part of me wanted it to be drawn out longer.

Ideally you should read the Faith and Elijahs story before this as it runs along the same timeline.

The storyline is quite intense in parts, we know bits from Faiths journey, but Dan has his own issues and oh my so does Sienna. Her family are as messed up as Elijahs - it shows money doesn't mean happiness!

What else can I tell you? It's a book you will want to read, it deals with difficult subjects, it has a hot couple and Dan is a surprise in the bedroom much to Sienna's delight.

4.5 Dans the man stars

ps I loved the epilogue

Great companion story to the Tears of.. series by Anna Bloom. I enjoyed it very much.
Both Sienna and Dan was first intorduced as secondary characters in the first three book of the series. It's great they got their own story.
My heart ached for Dan and what he went through and how he couldn't deal with everything that's been thrown on him.
Even when she first appeared as controversial character in previous books, I knew Sienna was more than what met the eye. I also felt for her. Her seemingly privileged life was anything but easy or nice.

Scars of Silk was a great story with enjoyable characters and writing. As I read all the books in the series I couldn't decide if it was a standalone but it's definitely worth giving a try whether in or out of order.

I loved loved LOVED this book.

I have always had a soft spot for Dan through the tears of ink series. So I was happy to see he got his own story.

Dan was in the pits of hell with no way of finding his way out. He meets sienna and what should have been a one time thing develops into something more but the ghosts of their pasts are stopping them deal with their issues in the present.

There is so much more to Sienna than I originally thought, so it was great to see her full story too.

And of course the few times that Eli and faith are mentioned you understand the pain more from Dan’s side of things.

I want more, I don’t think I will ever have my fill of these characters.

I have been hooked on this series and Anna Bloom's writing for quite some time now. I waited impatiently for Scars of Silk because I had to know what was going on with the troubled and tattooed beast, Dan!
This is his story along with Sienna, who is Elijah's best friend. The two broken characters are such a perfectly damaged match of rough brawn and smooth elegance that one cannot breathe when seeing their need for each unfold on the pages of this book. I am not one for spoilers, but I will say this story has all the intensity of the previous books and continues the web of broken promises, lies, and needed healing that you have always wanted from the very beginning.
Breath-taking read!!

Fantastic read - another 5*

I love Dan, I loved him from the first appearance in Tears of Ink book. I wanted so bad for him to be happy and to read his story to see what life has in store for him. And I'm so really grateful to author for his story. What really and completely shocked me was Sienna and how I would never pictured her as she is presented on the pages. This character and her development completely took me by surprise and honestly I fell in love with her even harder than I fell for Dan.
Amazing plot, fantastic writing, awesome characters and that all summed up to be a supreme story. Another 5* must read from this author and I can't wait to read more of her books.

Oh my! I loved Dan and Sienna's story! I couldn't put it down! We knew Dan and his background from the Tears of Ink books, and although Sienna made an appearance in the Tears trilogy, we didn't really get to know much about her. And her story was quite unexpected, as she slowly spilled her secrets. So, a grieving, broken hearted Dan and Sienna, keeping up public appearances, whilst privately she has family secrets and expectations to live up to. This is set within the same timeframe as Tears of Gold, so we do get to see some parts of that story from a completely different perspective. I love Anna Bloom's writing, and can't wait to see what she publishes next.

Dan featured in the Tears of Ink series and as Faith’s best friend, I was itching to know more of his story. I do feel that you need to have read the previous books to understand everything that occurred to bring Dan to the present, dark place that he finds himself in. My heart just split into two at the situation that Dan is in. Feeling completely alone, he seeks out pain and gets himself into some major messy business. Sienna, another character that readers of the previous books will know well, is his unexpected friend and despite having mounting troubles herself, steps up and becomes the friend Dan needs. Highly emotional, sizzling chemistry, and lots of hurdles to jump, I finished Dan’s story with a satisfied smile. Just perfection!
