An overweight omega puts his life in the hands of a battered and bruised alpha...

Captain Aries did not escape his last mission unscathed. His work with the Elite Force is always dangerous—it’s not easy protecting an entire town of trusting shifters from outside threats—but Aries blames himself for the danger he put his team in. To make certain that will never happen again, he decides to resign after one last mission: to protect a VIP named Arthur on his way to Morningwood. Aries failed as a Captain, he won’t fail as a bodyguard.

Arthur has lived his life alone and on the run. Hiding from his sadistic twin, Arthur keeps a low profile. Overweight and afraid, he cloaks himself in clothes and never engages with shifters, despite being one himself. His evil brother taught him that shifters only bring danger. But when a ruggedly handsome Captain from Morningwood shows up at his house to escort him to the shifter community, for the first time, Arthur wants to believe he could be safe.
Arthur isn’t just concerned with himself though. He has his adopted daughter, Harlow, to care for. At two, she should be years away from her first shift, which makes her ability to spontaneously turn into a tiny bunny strange. Not to mention the troubles it causes around bath time.

Aries is drawn to Arthur from the first moment, but who would want a battered alpha like him? He has no right to put a claim on Arthur. Aries knows the single father is perfect just the way he is and deserves perfection in return. But when a rival alpha approaches Arthur and offers him the safe life he craves, will Aries stand back and watch his future family be whisked away?

Hop On: Welcome to Morningwood Book Five is a full-length omegaverse romance with equal parts heart, angst, humor, and steam. It can be read as a standalone or in order and has a definite, you don’t gotta worry ‘bout it HEA.

I’m on a roll with this series because I freaking loved this book. All the books in this series can standalone because I’m skipping books and not reading them in order. 😁 After I read and thoroughly enjoyed the second book “Ball Drop”, the blurb of this book really grabbed me by the balls. 😏 I mean, what’s not to like? A hunky and grumpy, wounded Special Forces Captain Alpha and an overweight omega? This book screamed me!!! And I loved it. ❤️ (Side note: you might wanna read the third book before you read this story though because they are kinda connected. I didn’t but I was able to follow up the story. But just saying, it might be better for your reading pleasure. And I’m going to revisit the remaining books in the series. 😁)

Aries is tired, physically and mentally. But there’s one thing he has to do before he retires for good ... to get rid of the remains of the “Golden Bone”, a psychopath golden retriever serial killer, who brought chaos and havoc upon his beloved town, “Morningwood”. But finding a next of kin to this serial killer turned out to be not so easy. And when he finally did, he was gobsmacked to discover he took an instant liking to Golden Bone’s identical twin brother, an overweight omega with shy smiles and kind behavior. He is supposed to guard and protect Arthur. Falling in love wasn’t included in the job description. But when are things easy and simple when there is love and romance in the balance?

Loved, loved, loooooooved it! ❤️ I loved Arthur with all my heart. He was such an intriguing and lovely character. An omega who was abused all his life by his psychopathic brother who’s set to kill him. All his life, he’s been on the run from his twin, always afraid, scared and insecured. 😭 And when he adopted an little orphan rabbit shifter whose parents were killed by none other than his serial killer twin brother, Arthur had more to lose than his own life. And Captain Aries, that sexy bastard, I loved him too. 🥰 He took care of Arthur and made him realize that he’s beautiful and sexy. It was just a really really good story. Well-written, good plot, lovely amount of angst and mystery and pretty sexy. 😉🔥 I have become a fan. 👏 Thoroughly enjoyed it and looking forward to read more works by this author. 😌

4.5 you are the most beautiful person for me stars

IMO this is the best Morningwood book so far... and I say that even though at times in the book I wanted to pull my hair out AND kick both MC's asses for not communicating better. Ms. Burrelli just about killed me, but oh what exquisite torture she has devised. I can't say enough about how AMAZING Aries and Arthur are. These two individuals are so beautifully damaged and yet so much more than what they each see in themselves. Watching them dance around each other made their eventual union all the more sweet and satisfying! Love this series so much I wish it could go on forever!

Another sweet mate story though I have to say, I wanted to shake both Aries and Arthur for not communicating earlier. Both thought their time together had an expiration date and that annoyed me.

I just loved this one! Might be my favorite in the series so far! This one featured Aries, a leader for the elite team in Morningwood who was badly injured and is still recovering, and Arthur, who has been living in hiding for most of his life and suffers from low self esteem and body image and weight issues.

These two were just great together - I loved how Aries was eventually so fed up and declared Arthur his! Yum, sometimes that possessive alpha tendency is just perfect. And I love how eventually Arthur got some more confidence back and got his HEA with his baby bunny and his mate.

Arthur and Aries are both really tortured.

I like them both and really wanted much more time for them to heal.

Arthur starts but he doesn't fulfill my craving for a larger less fit hero who is comfortable in his body as his beloved who adores him.

This is a bit lighter than other books have been in the series which is why I read it but the dark cloud still lingers and sours a bit the joy that the little one brings to the story.

Some character motivations need working out but it was a good read overall

This series just gets better and better. I don't even know if I could pick a favorite now. I love them all. One thing I love about this series, is that the shifters aren't always these buff, built, big everything guys. Well, not all anyway lol. And I love that. This book is a continuation from book 3. Psycho Golden Bone is gone, and everyone is trying to pick up the pieces. Especially his twin.
With all the utter hell Arthur has been through, he doesn't know if he can take one more false claim of Artemis (Golden Bone) not being truly dead. Maybe he can make a fast get away again before Artemis can kill him. But Aries is there to protect him and guard him and Harlow, his adopted daughter. So maybe it won't be that bad. Arthur is already scared to death. Not having been around shifters his whole life, he doesn't know how to act or feel. And with Aries, his hormones are now in overdrive. He can't be in heat on top of all this, can he? But he is. And now he has to confirm and pick up his twin’s ashes. Things just can't be worse. But the scent of Artemis sends Harlow on the run in fear, and now she's the center of attention because she can shift too soon. And the new leader of the rabbits seems to be trying to get a bit too close. With hormones out of whack, the cloud of his psycho brother hanging around, and Aries showing an huge interest, Arthur doesn't know which way to run. Or if he should stay put.
To know you were the twin of a psycho like Golden Bone, looking just like him, except for the weight difference, would be enough to send anyone into a bad mindset. Knowing said brother was trying to kill you as much or more than anyone else, yeah I'd be in a panic all the time too. And then knowing the history behind Harlow? Hell to the no. I'd be getting plastic surgery or something and a new set of names. Especially with Arthur's computer skills. I can't even feel bad enough for him. And being hit full force with Aries. Aries is being great. Patient, easy and gentle. Trying to set him and Harlow at ease. But never being around shifters, he's not had to deal with the stuff that comes with being an Omega. Or a shifter. He hasn't shifted in so long, he doesn't know if he can anymore. He knows he needs to not be so fearful for Harlow's sake, but after having to be on the run for so long, it's a hard habit to break. And no man has ever really been interested in him because of his weight, so he doesn't know how to act with Aries. The man needs a hug and a break.
Aries isn't dealing much better. His injury from Golden Bone has left him feeling like a failure. With what happened to his team as well, it slaps him in the face everyday. His jackal is going crazy with the heat scent Arthur is giving off, but he doesn't feel worthy enough for the man. And here Arthur is thinking he's not good enough for Aries. It breaks my heart with all these guys have been through. But I love Aries even more for how he loves Arthur. He keeps showing how special Arthur is, how beautiful his curves are and it's so touching. They both have a lot to overcome and healing to get through. It's not an easy thing.
I forgot to mention earlier that there may be a trigger or two. With it being Golden Bone, even though he's dead, there's still the aftermath and recovery. Some of what he did is described just a bit, so be careful if it's a trigger for you. Otherwise, it's a beautiful story. Of hope, new beginnings and love.

I really like this one where most of the angst came from the two main characters instead of an outside source. Both men have to realize their worth is what they mean to each other. They make a great pair and baby Harlow is so much fun. I'm glad they are settling in with other.

And this is why I hate having a heavy mc. The author always makes them weak and whiny.

I almost dropped this book a handful of times because I hated both of the main characters. Aries was so cool in the previous books but he was a sniveling mess in this book. Thankfully when he pulled his head out of the ground he was better but that happened in the last like 20 pages. Disappointing all the way around. Harlow was the best part, but she was still a slighted background character.

I think I’m done with this series.

At first I had a bit of a difficulty getting into this story which I fully blame on my brain not wanting to let go of the characters from Sack of Gold. It only took a chapter, maybe a few pages less than to fully be absorbed in Hop On. As I said in my Sack review recently, I am unfamiliar with this series as a whole and though I found it bit darker than other omegaverse and mpregs from other authors, I couldn't speak to Burrelli's Welcome to Morningwood. Well, I think there are definitely some more disturbing if not full-on dark elements in Hop, I won't spoil them but just know that my heart hurt, physically hurt, for Arthur and his little girl, Harlow. How he found the strength to face it as he did, I'm not sure but he did but I don't think Arthur sees himself in full survivor mode which only added to the hurt my heart felt.

As for Aries, well the name is more menacing than the man but don't count this injured Elite Force Captain out, he may be recovering from the mission that took Arthur's evil brother down but he's not as helpless or unlucky to those around him as he thinks he is. Hop On is only my second read in Morningwood series but I can't think of a better bodyguard to bring Arthur back to recover his brother's belongings and ID him through said belongings. At first glance they couldn't be more opposite but truth is as we get to know them better they aren't so different in their hopes and fears.

And I can't forget little Harlow. What a sweetie with such a heartbreaking past but in Arthur she has found a sense of family and love. She has seen too much in her young years but you know that with Arthur and perhaps Aries(I won't spoil anything) she'll never go unloved.

As I stated in the beginning, Hop On definitely has dark and sad elements but they are all prior to the start of the story but they have left a lasting impression so not only do we see the heartache through Arthur's inner thoughts but also the stranglehold they have left on his present. There is plenty of goodness in this story too, the darkness does not win, does not overshadow, but the author shows how it takes time to overcome those demons. Heartbreaking but also very heartwarming story that lifts you up. Definitely the perfect second read to continue my want to discover more from this author.

What happens when a tough self-reliant leader has both his confidence & body completely shattered? How does he recover? Is recovery even possible? How much is his broken body contributing to his hesitancy, insecurities, fear, and self-loathing? The only emotions he seems capable of feeling now our hatred and dread. His arch-nemesis is dead yet he seems to live on causing as much pain and suffering except with different victims.

What do you do when you lived your entire life in fear? Terrified daily. Threatened constantly. Exhausted from hyper-vigilance. Angry when the cause seemed always to charm others into thinking he was the one not right in the head. Why didn't his parents protect him? He had to learn to use his fear as motivation to never get caught by his Tormentor.

But what do you do with your fear when someone else is relying on you to keep themself safe? To be their leader? How can you ever gain back all you lost? Is it even possible to ever let go of your fear? Or is it destined to ruin your life? As well as the people in their lives they care about?

What can an older Jackal offer a skittish Golden Retriever shifter and a terrified baby Bunny? How can you help someone else when you can't help yourself? What do you do when there is someone out there that makes you want to challenge your fears?

I don't know if there is going to be more Morningwood stories, but I'd really like there to be.

Got to love me some morning wood😀😍🐺🐕🐇💙

I received this book by the author and This is my honest opinion.
Loved, loved loved. This morning wood series has been on my radar for a little while but as of yet I haven't read any till now. When this one came up, the book description captivated me from the beginning and the book didn't let up till the very last page. I loved that Arthur and Aries had issues, namely Aries with a past mission going wrong and injuring him to Arthur who is insecure and a shadow of himself through his terror of his twin brother tracking down and finishing the job that he's always promised was waiting for Arthur. Throw in Arthur's insecurity of his weight and adorable bunny 🐇 shifter for Arthur's daughter and I was hooked, line and sinker. Due to not having read any of the other books and thus not knowing the details about Arthur's brother this author really knew how to put the tension of is he dead or not which was a real concern for Arthur and which was portrayed beautifully. I really liked these characters and warmed to them instantly from Aries watching for Arthur's wriggling toes😉 to his protective sides. Arthur was so brave and courageous And I loved his love and care towards his daughter which Aries also done. Highly entertaining and a world that I loved dipping my toes into, going to now read the others as I demolished this one in one sitting😍

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-
Away-book like 'Liberty' from Seth King,
'Save the at he kids' series from EM Leya or
'Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a
WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises
(like most of Andrew Grey books) it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few
times a year (most romances where you can
enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader,
maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-
reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but
it was ok). It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too
many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an
absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole
line, dismissed, repeat the class

What a pair the two in this story make. Aries, damaged by his bitter enemy both physically and mentally. He thinks he’s just a shell of who he was. That he can no longer lead the group of men that are the Elite Force. However, he has one more task to do, before he can fade out of view. Find the next of kin and deliver the remains of Golden Bones to him.

Arthur has lived in fear his whole life. That’s what happens when your brother is a psychopathic killer. A brother, who lived to torment you. They're all saying he’s dead, but is he truly gone? Can Arthur stop looking over his shoulder?

The two of them, along with Arthur’s daughter Harlow, travel back to Morningwood. As they make their way back together, they start to heal each other. The broken pieces of each other’s lives fit together and make each one whole.

I think this was my favorite of the stories in this series. And no, this can’t be read as a stand-alone. Each in this series builds on the previous one. And honestly, the series is such a great read; you don’t want to miss any of them. I would love more in this world.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is book 5 in the Welcome to Morningwood Omegaverse series and in my opinion is the best one yet. The characters alone are so easy to love and feel protective of but when you add their story, you will be even more impressed by these guys. After what Aries went through in the previous book we knew he would have some serious issues and we get to see that here. Wait until you meet Arthur. He is one of the bravest characters I have ever read and he doesn't even see it. All the things that made us fall in love with this series are in here but I think this one hits the emotions the hardest. Even though the situations are not what we are likely to be into, the struggle with their inner demons is something we all can relate to. I couldn't put this book down. Morningwood is a town I'd love to visit and the series is one I definitely need to have in paperback. If you haven't read any of them yet, you are seriously missing out. Alphas, omegas, and mpreg in a mixed shifter community. It doesn't get any better than that.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

4.5 stars

I have not read the previous books in this series yet (I'll be adding them to the TBR after this!), and I could tell that I was missing some of the background for this story, but not enough to lessen my enjoyment of the story.

Aires and Arthur are both damaged, both victims of the same vicious serial killer. Aires blames himself for both his injury and the attack against his team, struggling with his own perceived self-worth with everything that has happened. Arthur has been on the run from his twin for years, seeking to keep his adopted daughter safe and struggling with his own self-perception. I thought they were good for each other, and really sweet with Harlow. Neither thought they were enough for the other, that they were worthy of love. I thought Harlow was so cute, and adorable little bunny. It was nice to see both Aires and Arthur begin to deal with the emotional scars by trusting each other. I really hope I'll get to see more of them in future books.

*I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one elses*

4 stars

This is the fifth book in the Welcome to Morningwood Omegaverse Series and can be read as a standalone.

Arthur was sweet and his insecurities about his looks always held him back. He questions his worth but it takes a caring, loving alpha to show him how special he is. Arthur was wary and easily spooked and the author explored his reasons for being skittish really well.

Aries was a patient alpha yet Leo’s presence made his possessive and jealous nature reach the surface. Aries made me laugh and I was rooting for him when he finally decided to take things further instead of, patiently waiting for Arthur.

Arthur and Aries were seriously hot together and I loved how Aries always respected Arthur’s boundaries.

Harlow was adorable especially, when she plays with Aries - they were so cute together.

A fantastic addition to the series.

So good! With healing, heart, and family!!

I loved this story! This was my first story from Kiki and her world and it was great!

I love shifters and am finding a great love for MPreg!! This story was wonderful, with dynamic characters and both men being wounded and not feeling worthy enough in their own ways. I love how they were able to heal each other and create a family together with the adorable little rabbit, Harlow. Even though I haven't read the other books in this series, I didn't feel like I was missing anything. Great as a standalone.

I loved the journey Airies and Authur take together and how they slowly grow closer and begin to heal each other without realizing it. I loved Arthur and his issues and self-esteem were very relatable. Very well written and emotion in its own way. I loved this world and will definitely be diving into many more of Kiki's books ASAP!!!

4 stars. This was such a delightful read. I loved the characters a lot. Arthur and Aries are just so perfect for each other. I love how they both have insecurities that they work on to overcome. Aries feels as if he’ll never be good enough for a mate because of his leg and Arthur has social anxiety and is self conscious about his weight. I particularly enjoyed seeing the way Arthur tried overcoming his anxiety and stop being so afraid. Also, the way Aries always praised Arthur’s body was everything. They had really great chemistry even though the relationship moves a bit slowly but the smut (when it does happen) is A-1. Which isn’t surprising because Kiki does really well with steamy scenes. This was the first book that I’ve read in this particular series but I’m excited to go back and read the rest of them.

Aries and Arthur are two good men that have much to offer but because of their pasts they do not think that they are even worth much. Arthur has learned from his own family that evil can come at you from anywhere and anyone but when his daughter needs him to be strong Arthur will do what he must and that means trusting Aries to keep them safe.

I really enjoyed this book. Aries and Arthur’s story is a beautiful read. It was nice to see the two men connect as they spend time together. This book takes readers on a roller coaster ride of emotions and I loved seeing the two fight for their happiness. It was nice to see each man begin to heal and find love with each other and add in the sweet little rabbit shifter and you have a wonderful family worth its weight in gold. Proving that family is what you make of it not always what you are born with.

I received an ARC of this book and have chosen to leave an honest review.
This book focuses on two good men who are broken but not completely down. They have a difficult journey ahead but it is worth following them as they learn to help each other recover and find their HEA.
A recent event has left Aries injured and doubting his capabilities. Arthur is very insecure and has lived his life in fear. They are rightfully cautious when they first meet, but soon their connection grows and begins to heal them and sweet little Harlow.
This is an emotional and entertaining story with some ups and downs, doubts and fears to work through and overcome, trust issues, decisions to be made, laughs, tears, love, and so much more.

Another 3.5. Don't get confused like I did by the title and book cover. I initially thought one of the MC's was a rabbit. Actually, it's the story of Aries, Captain of the Elite force and jackal shifter, and Arthur, the hitman's brother from an earlier book and golden retriever shifter. There is a little adopted girl who is a rabbit shifter and I'm assuming is the reason for the title. Anywho, Aries tracks down Arthur to identify his brother's remains. Arthur, is terrified its another one of his brother's ploys to lure him into the open and kill him, so he is adamant Aries but escort him, and his adopted daughter, to Morningwood. Sparks of course fly as well as clothing. Shenanigans ensues. And of course there is the HEA. Sweet, short, nice enjoyable uncomplicated read.

Loved Hop On! The Morningwood series, and Kiki Burrelli’s writing is great so I loved getting more of both of them.

Arthur is a curvy omega, and daddy to little Harlow. He’s to be escorted to Morningwood to identify his brother’s remains. Captain Aries is an alpha, and is to be his bodyguard and escort...and is attracted to the curvy omega immediately. What follows is a story where Aries tries to help Arthur get free from his past. Can he succeed in making the omega move forward? Can he see that he is worthy of him? Can Arthur move forward and see that he is worthy of Aries? How will Harlow react?

Powerful Spiraling Alpha and the paraboid Omega

As I came into Hop On, I wasn't at all in mood to like Aries. I didn't like him in previous books. But when he meets Arthur, a new side comes to light that makes you instantly cheer him on.

Arthur's insecurities and paranoia make him beyond likeable. And Harlow starts showing her sassy side, I could just feel that everything was going to be okay. Kiki Burrelli hit a home run with these two and I hope to see cameos from the happy family in future books

Great!!

Aries is trying wrap up the loose ends of a former case he is thrilled to find a next of kin to give the personal effects to. Arthur is hiding from his brother. He isn’t thrilled about being tracked down.

I liked that the heroes were not typical. The alpha - Aries was injured and is still recovering. Arthur is an over weight recluse. Great conclusion.

The series should be read in order as this book refers to events that have taken place in previous books. The books are all not the usual shifter couple and are great!

Meh, not her best

This book was only ok for me. After all of the excitement in the last book, I'm glad that the characters got some down time, but I just didn't really ever get a good picture, in my head, for Arthur. Then I didn't really buy how readily everyone on Elite Force simply accepted Arthur with no concern, despite his brother's actions. We heard a lot about how Arthur said he could hack anything, but never saw any proof.
