‘It’s time for freedom to reign’
In a world of submission and memory erasure, Ange and Amy seek a refuge within the Towers of Refuge. Survivors of the poisoned world are rapidly deteriorating and none of them can be trusted. One of the characters described them as:
‘Instead of wisdom, they found cunning, and instead of power, they found rules, and so they trapped themselves.’

The author has some sage advice for us IRL:
‘Don’t fight fair and don’t fight head-on.’
‘The best way to win a fight is to not get in it.’
‘Pay attention to your surroundings and stay out of reach.’

Fave quote:
‘Stories are for the telling, but it’s up to you to decide which to hear.’

Next is ‘Boy with No Name’ then I want to read the rest of the series, starting with ‘Blind the Eyes’.

This is a prequel novella to Blind the Eyes. It follows Ange as she is first exposed to the Under and meets Cass for the first time.

I really enjoyed reading this novella. Not only did it provide insight into Ange (among the more interesting and elusive minor characters Blind the Eyes), but it also depicted some other characters in a new light.

The writing was very good - excellent pacing, good character development, and it did exactly what I hoped it would: provided some insight into characters I'd encountered before.
