Camilla Stevens is a new author to me. I haven't read anything of her previously and when this opportunity came to read this story I jumped on it. I love discovering new authors to me because it seems as though the writing world is small at times. So if you can find a good new author to follow that's always a plus.
I enjoyed this book thoroughly. The way Cole and Sierra met in their grown-up life was hilarious. Sierra is just trying to close a $10 million-dollar real estate deal and Cole is not about that life. Mama thought she was going to walk into Cole's house with her Jimmy Choos and her power suit on and he was just going to fall on his knees and sign the contract. Little does she know that the Universe does not work out that way.
As the story progressed we got to experience what Cole and Sierra felt from another from they're both respective perspectives. I enjoy when a book has a duel POV because there are times where I want to know what one of the main characters is thinking and when it only follows one POV you have no idea if the other person feels the same type of way. I love the love story that they had with one another.
There was not a lot of angst within this book which is super great. Yes, there was a couple of things that we're going on in the background but a little conflict within a book is okay. It wasn't over-the-top, as some books can be, which is always a plus. There was just a little bit of drama to keep you interested but it was heavy on the romance which is great for a romance book.
I'm like super excited to explore more of Camilla's writing because if this is what she is doing with the books that she writes I am all for it. I have definitely become a fan of hers after this book.
I enjoyed Cole & Sierra's story. It was an intriguing book. This was a fun read. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book via hidden gems.
Well, not what I expected!!! A little bit disappointed.....
As soon as I saw the email telling me this book will be available, I couldn't wait for it...and now am a little bit disappointed and conflicted....I have read most of MS. Stevens books and this serie was very cute and nice but this finale, well it needed more work, more spice, more of something.... Cole and Sierra, on the romance level were so cute, so adorable with Cole trying to be a broken jock (but we really don't know what happened). Cole had gotten hurt or betrayed but nothing was fully explained; then his football days came to an end, again not enough explanation and then his return home to start this bourbon company, again not enough explanation on how he started it. He seems to be a handsome man and tried to be an alpha but came out more as a beta, than alpha and then a huge mystery surrounding his life...hummm, disappointed!!! Sierra, on the other hand was fine, simple, maybe a little bit childish and naive, but hey, we will take her any day to all of the mysteries that surround Cole... Sierra, at least had more explanation on her growing years and what she is doing now, although I would have preferred to here more on her crush for Cole since she was fourteen years old, but this was probably the sweetest part of the story. In all, my disappointment was probably because I felt this story was so dry, so predictable and so uneventful, that it took me by surprise and took me two days to digest, read another book before coming back to write my review. Hopefully the next book will be awsome!!!
Sierra is a real estate agent who is asked to convince a former high school classmate named Cole to sell his property for twice its actual value. Seems like a simple task but its get more complicated as the story unfolds.
Sierra has had a deep-seeded crush on Cole since she was a nerdy teenager and he was the star quarterback of the football team. The attraction between the two of them is palpable. Cole and Sierra also have a difficult time figuring out who wants to buy his property and why so many people in their lives are pressuring the both of them to get this deal done.
I liked the love story between Sierra and Cole. The part of the story I didn't enjoy was the mystery surrounding the real estate deal involving Cole's property. Initially, the storyline was intriguing but the backstory and ultimate resolution were anti-climactic. The mystery/suspense part of the book was convoluted and unsatisfying.
This may have been a better book if the author solely focused on Sierra and Cole's romantic relationship and the internal conflicts - his intimacy issues and inability to trust and her desire to focus on her career and live in the city - they had to overcome in order to get their HEA.
3.00 Stars. (BW/WM). Amazon e-book. The heroine, Sierra, comes face to face with the crush and star of her teenaged fantasies, dreamboat, Cole. Cole was the heartthrob of most girls at their high school, he was rich, handsome and the school's star football player; currently, he is still desired by many of the women about town. The real estate company employing Sierra has sent her back to her home town to convenience Cole to sale his ranch and the hundreds of acres that he inherited and that his still part of his family's legacy. Initially, Sierra is all in with her employer until suspicions arise about the legitimacy of the company's claim, most of the drama in the story is centered around the sale of Cole's family estate. The story is well written, just predictable and uninteresting which made it hard for me to finish. There was the expected banter between Cole and Sierra about his not giving her a second glance in school because she wasn't his type and about his promiscuous sexual exploits and her demure and virtuous behavior. Every element of the book took a back seat to their insta-attraction, lust and inevitable love, marriage and children. Boring.
"But the man sounded exhausted like he’d spent the past twenty-four hours doing taxes or putting together IKEA furniture."
This is just an example of the humorous lines in this steamy, romantic suspense novel. Cole, with a male puppy named Elsa, and Sierra, the owner of a male hamster with the name of Bubbles, clash over a real estate deal. Sierra wants the commission on the ten million dollar deal to sell Cole's ranch. Cole has absolutely no intention of selling the property but is entranced by Sienna, his high school rival's sister.
The big question is why and who wants to buy the ranch for twice its value. Some suspense and danger add another twist to this romance.
I really enjoyed this book and hope to read more by this author.
A 4.5 star story. I really liked Cole and Sierra. I have this visual of red gumboots and a red raincoat with bows that I can't shake.
Although Cole and Sierra had a strong physical attraction, and she had been crushing on him for years, they seemed to genuinely like and respect each other.
I was pleasantly surprised when the book morphed into a tale of mystery and intrigue. Then, a bit of suspense was added. Who knew? Let's not forget the steamy scenes that are part of Cole and Sierra's story.
There are a couple of transitions from chapter to chapter that may seem abrupt to some, but they didn't bother me. I was also very happy to see that the author provided us with a very nice epilogue that cements the characters HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy received from Hidden Gems.
Sierra and Cole's story is interesting. Someone wants to buy Cole's home property and they want to do so ASAP. Sierra and Cole realize there is something fishy about the potential buyer and start digging for more information.
There are some really weird phrasings in this book that threw me for a loop. Like "With puckered lips he sucked the little man so hard out of the boat" or "With each recovery she withered into a curve". I wasn't impressed with some of the language choices.
Overall, not a bad story.

I received this book from Hidden Gems for free for an honest review.
Sierra is a real estate agent that is sent to her home town to close a deal. Cole was her brothers rival in high school when they played football. Sierra had a crush on him in high school. As she arrived to try and get him to sell his property she found she was still interested. The twist and turns in trying to convince him to sell become interesting and scary for her.
Will he sell or will they find their way to each other? You must read to find out.
I received a copy of this book through Hidden Gems and I voluntarily chose to review this one. This is the first book I have read by this author but it will not be the last. The story was well written and there were wonderful characters. There was some suspense woven through the story. I don't do spoilers so you will need to get the book to find out what I am talking about. For me this was an easy read but not a quick read. I encourage you to give this one a chance, I think you will like it.
Sierra is an up coming real estate broker and has a chance to close on a big investment, but once she realizes who it is , she wonders if she can really go through it. Things are not the same as it was in High School.
Cole’s life is not going the way he thought it would go! His liquor is not selling and now they want to buy his land and home for a ridiculous amount.
But once he remembers who it is that’s coming to convince him,’maybe things will go better.
Good and simple romance 3,5 I found that the story was quite simple except for the mystery surrounding the purchase of the lands of the hero Cole, whose anonymous buyer was a big surprise. The love affair between Sierra and Cole is rather cute, with some hot scenes, but with a predictable evolution. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Sierra had a crush on Cole during their high school days, now she is the realtor trying to sell his ranch. When Sierra tells him about the offer, it sounds to good to be true. They begin to spend some time together and sparks fly but someone doesn’t want them to find out why the deal is so good. Fast-paced read with lots of drama and steamy chemistry. A fun and entertaining read.
Such a sweet and adult romance with just enough mystery and drama to make it so good. The main characters read like old fire come to visit and you don't want them to leave. The writer gives you a really good story that's funny,so so sexy and just plain good.It was great to get a glimpse of life after.
So many tropes cobbled together, story wasn't giving anything new, just another surly manwhore. Also, Cole talks to Sierra like she's a idiot or even a child.... Embarrassing. I only kept reading to find out what the deal was with the sale- that was actually more interesting. Still a decent writing style.
When a man's instinct is telling him something is wrong, something is wrong. Cole is very intuitive when it comes to Sierra. I enjoyed that quality about him. Wonderful storyline, The main characters was very intriguing. Enjoyed the epilogue!
I like reading Camilla Stevens' books. They all have that warm, feel good, romance thing going on. Plus, the chemistry between her characters are always fire. I really enjoyed this book.
The build-up was well written but the rescue and reunion fell short. After Cole raced across the state and investigated Sierra's disappearance, the FBI knocked on the door and that was it ??
This story was pretty good. It had more than just sex scenes. The story was pretty good. I loved the characters. It's been awhile since I've read anything from this author, but I'm glad I did
Sweet second chance story. Sierra, a real estate agent, goes back to her small town to close a deal on the ranch of her secret high school crush, rival quarterback Cole. Nice read
Sierra and Cole relationship was funny, exciting and serious. I like their relationships with their families. Sierra and Cole’s love was strong and fierce and when needed they had strength.
Hard Sell: A Texas Heat Romance was intriguing . The story and the H/h held my attention from start to finish. Their chemistry and banter combined was awesome ! Check out this author.
I was bored. This story moved way too slowly for me and I gave up 60% in. I just didn't like the story and the couple nor the progression of their romance. I am a fan of Camilla Stevens books and I have read several of them, but this just wasn't it.
