Tough and uncompromising undercover sheriff Asia Powers Bancroft had one goal—to bring crime extraordinaire Carlos Saint Magna to justice for tearing her town apart with criminal activity. This goal led her to choices that condensed to one thing—her family and her ability to protect them from the consequences of her job. But she hadn’t known that choosing to bring Saint Magna down would alter her life irreversibly. Now left for dead, she discovers that, through faith in Jesus, some new beginnings start with “The End”.
Sharon Parson had asked for more than she could handle when she showed up to teach a Christian career counseling class for a Youth Reading Club in a dangerous part of town, unaccompanied, for the second time. Caught in a shootout late at night, she never expected her on-and-off boyfriend, Ash Carter, to rescue her again—or for their love to bloom anew. With Sharon hesitating over a relationship because of his lack of faith in God, and Ash eager for something permanent like marriage, will she have the love she dreamed of or will it come crashing at her feet before it begins?
Read At First Sight first, then To Have & To Hold.
Who doesn't like to curl up with a good book? I certainly have, for as long as I could remember. Next to books, I loved movies just as much, especially if it had action and suspense. No surprise then that I'm now writing romantic suspense, and inspirational stories! I'm grateful to the Lord Jesus for His undeserved mercy and grace. I earned a Masters' Degree in International Affairs from American University, Washington DC; and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan. I'm a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers(ACFW) organization. I pen stories during evenings, weekends, and whenever the food takes too long to cook. Despite the many hurdles I've faced in life, God has been crazy faithful! I live in the beautiful State of Maryland.

At First Sight is a short novella in a new series by Joy Ohagwu. New Beginnings looks to be an intense and suspense-filled series. At First Sight gives background information about several of the main characters of the series and some of the circumstances behind their actions and reactions. They are strong and vibrant and readers will quickly be caught up in and compelled by their stories if this novella is any indication of what is to come. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this new series from this talented author. I read a complimentary copy of the novella and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.
Joy gives us insight into some of the main characters from “Her Undying Faith.” We see why Asia is driven to seek revenge while Luke encourages forgiveness; and how it’s important to walk out your faith in relationships as Sharon struggles between her love for God and for Ash who has no faith.
She gives us enough backstory to help us understand the circumstances that helped form the choices that brought each one to the place where they are at the beginning of the series. I read “Her Undying Faith” first and this filled in some blanks for me.
This is a great introduction of characters in this series Asia, Luke, Sharon, Ash, and Sharon's family. God has a plan for each one of them and Joy Ohagwu is a fabulous writer with this prequel developing the basis of the series and leaving you wanting to read the rest of the series as soon as possible. Loved this prequel and looking forward to reading more about these characters and how God's plan for their lives will develop.
At First Sight gives background information on some of the characters in Her Undying Faith, I like reading it because I got a better understanding of how they characters met and some of the things that they went through . I think that the book stands on its own merit, but I recommend that you read the other books in the series because the stories are tied to one another.
A good prequel giving us some of the characters that will be in this series, Also for the issues they will be dealing with forgiveness, revenge, and seeing someone not in the faith. To walk the Christian path, and fellowship with same goal.
I liked this introductory story. I look forward getting reading more of the story. Young love and going against her parents wishes for a noble reason. It definitely kept my interest and made me.want more
Great introduction to this new series by a fantastic author. Meeting two of the females and learning some of their background truly sets the scene for the series. Extremely well written. Highly recommend.
I have read almost all of the books by Joy Ohagwu and have enjoyed all of them. This book is no different. It tells about trials and tribulations and that God is there for you.
Solid start. Short but fairly intense. Lays the groundwork for more to come. I especially was interested in how the author addresses the need for community input to help us make choices that honor God and give us a purpose in life.
I was disappointed with this book because it was not mentioned in the description or the reviews that it was written for young readers. It was a waste of my money.
A very nice short introduction to the next book called, Her Undying Faith. I was sucked into At First Sight and I didn’t realize how short it was. I look forward to reading Her Undying Faith so that I can find out the rest of Sharon and Asia’s stories.
I am amazed the author came up with this story dealing with 2 women having 2 different problems in their lives. A great introduction to a new series I am anxious to read.
A prequel that leaves you waning more. The reader gets a brief introduction to the characters that will carry them into their hearts as they seek God for their future.
Enjoyed this story of Asia who is seeking revenge on the man her killed her family and left her dead and Luke the person who finds, nurses, and wants her to seek forgiveness instead of vengeance.
The heart wants what the heart wants in this story of love and loss. This introduction starts prior to Sharon's marriage and gives insight into her and Ash's journey.
I did not like this book at all, it was hard to follow and confusing. I did not like the characters either. I will not be reading any more of these books.
A great novella introducing the readers to the characters in the New Beginnings series. Very well-written; definitely intrigues me to read this series!!
I actually read this prequel after I read the new book in the new series and it did give more detail about the characters in the next story. If you can get this one and read it prior to reading "Her Undying Faith" it will help that story take on more meaning.
