It is 85 B.C. in the Ancient Americas, and against all odds, Amulek and Tabitha’s arranged marriage has turned into one based on love. Their little family is thriving and life seems to be better than they could have ever hoped for.
But despite her blessed and luxurious lifestyle, Tabitha feels as if something is missing. A part of her yearns for something she cannot see. Something to fill the hole inside of her heart. But no matter where she turns, she cannot find what she is looking for, until she becomes intrigued by a man preaching of God in the town square.
Amulek’s status as a respected and wealthy man in the city of Ammonihah seems to grow by the day. His farm is flourishing and his family is healthy and happy. Everything he ever wanted is in his hands. But when the Lord he has ignored for years tells Amulek he is not only to house a chosen prophet of God, but travel with him to preach repentance to the people, Amulek’s idyllic life is thrown into turmoil.
No matter his previous status among his peers, Amulek’s change of heart is not taken well and soon his entire family is in danger. Before they are ready, their new found faith is thrown directly into the refiner’s fire. It seems as if they will lose everything if they stand firm in their beliefs and follow the plan God has for them. Is what they will gain worth the cost?
The Faith of a Wife is a Christian Historical Fiction Romance. It follows the life of Amulek, a man chosen to preach God’s word to the people in the Ancient Americas. This is the first book in the Women of Faith series. Each book is a stand alone story and can be read in any order.
Due to wars and violence mentioned in the book, it is recommended for ages 14+.

An interesting narrative of a part of Alma the Younger's ministry in the Book of Mormon told from the point of view of Amulek and his wife Tabitha. I have read through the book of Alma several times and it is fun to get a new perspecive of what life might have been like for those who lived during that time.
I received a free digital copy of this book. All thoughts expressed are my own.
The Faith of a Wife is one of the best Biblical era fiction books I have read. Each character is written with depth and insight. We are drawn into the lives of those who struggled as they find a deep and abiding trust in God. A man’s struggle with love for his family and a call from God that will challenge his strength and remove him from his family. A woman’s love for her husband and struggle with loneliness. A family’s need for security. Is faith enough? The scenes are rich in description and paint a clear picture of the times. You feel as though you are transported to the dusty streets as you walk with the characters. This is not always a feel good book. There is death, destruction and doubt—but also faith, hope and love. I highly recommend this book. I received an ARC courtesy of the author and this is my honest review.
I am familiar with the account of Amulek and his encounter with Alma. What I enjoyed about this story is the personal touch. Instead of family members being relegated to the impersonal designations of wife and children, the author brought this account to life in a family setting with well-developed characters. This helped broaden the impact of what it meant to this man to answer the prompting given to him in his dreams. He set aside his own business and reputation to follow the difficult path of supporting a prophet unpopular with the people of his city. He not only put himself, but also his family, at risk.
This story was well-paced, full of action and challenges as well as faith. Although leaving his family to serve the Lord created difficulties for his family and strained some relationships, this novel was also a lovely story of the power of family love. An inspirational must-read.
I am afraid I didn't read the reviews before reading the book. I had no idea it was based on the Book of Mormons. I was expecting this to be biblical historical fiction and I kept trying to figure out who these people were supposed to be and where and when this was taking place. It seemed like a hodgepodge mash up with elements that seemed Old Testament and some that seems New Testament even the names and places. Some of it seemed a bit off theologically, too. There is much persecution and sacrifice in this book, which is hard to read. While I appreciated the great faith of the main characters, I agree with the review about not agreeing that God would keep a man away from his family for 8 years. So I didn't really like the book, though it seems that many Mormons probably would enjoy it.
I like this story but I emphasize it is a story set in a Biblical time. It protrays a good example of christain persecutation that has happened & could still happen to those in this world who have strong faith. I don't agree with the premise that God calls a husband/father to be away from his family for 8 yrs. doing God's work. Family is very important to God. Families need the father present to be the leader in the home. The struggles the eldest son exhibits in the story is what happens when the father is gone for a long time. Other than that negative thing, I think it is a good story that many would benefit reading. I received an ARC. This is my honest, voluntary opinion.
Couldn't wait to read this and it exceeded my expectations.
What a wonderful story. Reading about some of my heroes from the Book of Mormon, seeing them in a whole new light. Learning more about the customs of the times, the way they lived and the women they loved and who loved them. Knowing that they relied strongly on Faith in the Lord to get through the tough times just like we do. Reading about the persecution of the Believers by those who didn't believe and the miracles the Lord provides. I can't wait for the next installment.
I love reading books about the people in the Book of Mormon. Their lives become real to us through an authors interpretation. I like being able to visualize what life was like for them. Seeing their faith in our heavenly father and a savior who would yet come is humlbling. I enjoyed this book emensely. Take this journey with Tabitha, Amuleks wife, as she learns what it is like to be the wife of a man called to serve the Lord. She truly is a woman of faith.
This was a great read that I enjoyed a lot. If you are looking for excitement and danger, suspense and intrigue, you will not find too much of that here.
What you will find is a fictional account that is realistic, at times painfully so. You will find characters acting like real people, with feelings including love and anger.
This book is worth reading to help bring to consideration things you might not have considered from the scriptures.
While I typically love a books like this one, I just really didn’t like this one. I was not a fan of the internal dialogue with the Lord and the whole 8 years thing. I literally cried I was so mad. I get being gone in times of war for that long but seriously they couldn’t take a month off and visit their family? The distance between Jershon and zarahemla didn’t seem like a big distance when at the end of the book.
Completely enjoyed "The Faith of a Wife". I've read this story in the scriptures. The "italic thoughts" of Tabitha and Amulek created something that I could relate too! They had trying times, just like we all do. They were able to show us all how to work through them. A very inspirational read!
You will fall in love with Tabitha her characteristics the way she loves' her faith in the One True God and the coming of Jesus Christ. Her commitment to family and her husband. I loved all three books about her family and Her commitments. What people suffered for there faith!! Wow , Makes you think about your faith. Enjoy!!
The first book I have read that truly depicts the trial, pain, anguish and cost of truly living for Christ. A really good read that covers a lot of what devoted Christians can go through. Wonder what the next book will be like. Well written.
I totally enjoyed this book. I love the .Book of Mormon and this book helped me understand and appreciate the scriptures found there. I love these kinds of stories. GREAT JOB TO THE AUTHOR.
I really enjoyed this book and so really appreciate that it helped me understand better ancient Americans and their society’s and religion. It helped me want to be better too, and is interesting and well written. I recommend reading.
I loved this book. All the characters were well written and I was hooked from the very beginning. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good story!!
