In 2000, when the much respected South African skipper, Hansie Cronje, was found guilty of match fixing soon after a trail of stars fell after the another. Prominent cricketers from India, South Africa, Kenya, England, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Pakistan, came out as fixers over the next decade.

The scandal really hit home in 2013, when spot-fixing allegations in the Indian Premier League resulted in the ouster of Indian and Rajasthan Royals bowler Sreesanth, along with two other players. This incident threw open the murky underworld connection – quite literally – in Indian cricket.

Based on transcripts of police-recorded conversations and unpublished information about the players at the key of the storm, including some of India's biggest names, No Ball is a revealing account of the rot at the heart of Indian cricket.

This book is meant only for people interested in Indian cricket and want to know about IPL betting fiasço.Basically,the book is an organised presentation of facts of match fixing scandals in Indian cricket.
There is nothing new and its just like old wine in a new bottle.The rant about powers of BCCI,Mudgal Committee,Dawood etc bores the reader after a few pages.
I would recommend that one should only purchase the book if one has no knowledge about IPL fixing of 2013.

NO BALL:THE MURKY WORLD OF MATCH-FIXING is just the book I needed to break the monotony from the constant fiction reads.
The book is all about Match-fixing, betting as a profession which has not only compromised the quality of the game but also careers of many talented players. The involvement of the D-company is very deep and it’s sad that CRICKET is controlled by them. The underworld has established a strong syndicate of bookies and fixers throughout India, Pakistan and Dubai. Many bookies are players who played the Ranji trophy and many others, but failed to make it to the Indian Cricket Team.
Fixing ODI, Test Matches and the famous IPL are a source of income to the D-gang and many cricket players. A few famous players are named along with the teams they played for which is a shock since the story behind the incidents are clearly described with evidence and facts. Sreesanth, Chandila being the main here. Sreesanth- short tempered and illmannered and notorious has seen a very dramatic career because of his unethical decisions to compromise the game.
History of Match-fixing, types of bets, signals players give during the match to the bookies and details of the process of booking-super systematic and error free are written which are really informative and make the book a must read!
The author’s research and findings are interesting and immaculate.Nothing is dragged and citations throughout the book make it helpful to surf articles and scandals of these infamous happenings. I’m not a sports enthusiast but this book had me gripped to it throughout its course.
