I’m afraid that I simply did not enjoy this. It was poorly written, characters were immature and confusing

Trina and Drake had a romance while in high school but somehow it remained hidden from her twin brother and her father. Drake suddenly left without a goodbye and didn't know Trina was pregnant when he left. She assumed he wouldn't care since he left without a goodbye and made no attempt to contact him even though that would have been easy to do. She kept the baby daddy's identity secret and never told anyone. Over the years she had multiple opportunities to track him down and let him know.

Now it's 10 years later and she has a 9 year old daughter who is curious about the father she doesn't have. Drake comes back to town unexpectedly and Trina still keeps it a secret. She still loves him but can't tell him about their daughter and no one has figured out what's going on. When Drake has the opportunity to figure it out she tells him not to ask any questions but yet she wants him to figure it out so she doesn't have to figure out how to tell him. That's just stupid. And this was after she realized he still cared about her. This just slowed the book down and really dragged things out.

I don't want to give away the ending but I will say that Drake's reaction seemed surprising and so did Amelia's (daughter). Trina had just been outright lying to Amelia so I would have expected a different reaction to finding out the truth. Trina was too stupid to realize that being deserted by her father would impact how Amelia feels about herself. The ending was just a little too trite and tidy and what happened in the mine was just unnecessary.

I wanted to like this book more, and would have if Trina coming clean hadn't been dragged out so long and she hadn't just outright lied to her daughter after she'd met Drake. I am voluntarily reviewing an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This a second chance at love for Trina and Drake that takes ten long years! These two had a quick young relationship right before Drake leaves for college and never really leaves with a good-bye. Unknown to him Trina was pregnant and had a baby without telling a souls who the dad is and it’s cost her the relationship with her father. Her twin brother is best friends with Drake and it’s something he is not happy about but you see why she never shared. After Drake has become a successful actor in NY in plays he returns home to produce a documentary about the mines closing and how it affects his hometown. Things get heated quickly between Drake and Trina and all the baggage she has been hiding for all these years. They reconnected without missing a beat but can not find the words to get through what is necessary to move forward. I wish Trina would have shared her secret sooner giving Drake the chance to make decisions without missing 10 years of his daughters life! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Scarlet West’s Secret Daddy: A Second Chance Romance is a totally enjoyable second chance romance. Trina and Drake are both likable characters, former high school sweethearts who broke up before Drake left town fir fame and fortune, not knowing she was pregnant. Now he’s back. Is what follows predictable? Sure. HEA in these sort of tales is pretty much guaranteed. But the key is the path chosen to get there. In this case it’s a well written, well plotted and totally enjoyable one. Not much more one could ask for. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is definitely one to read, and it is easy to recommend.

Not feeling it

Honestly I don’t even remember the main characters names, that’s how uninteresting this book was. Basically a friend falls in love with his friends twin sister. She gets pregnant, she doesn’t tell her brother or the father of her child she is pregnant. 10 years later the father comes to his hometown to do a movie, she stills doesn’t want to tell him, her best friend skylar told her she was dumb and asked why didn’t you never tell him? Her response? I didn’t want to hold him back. Than somewhere in all this craziness he started crying and was not mad at her for keeping his child away from him for 10 years. The smartest person in this book was the daughter. Who asked like a million questions.

Classic and simple
I found the story fairly classic in the second chance genre, but I was annoyed by the time taken before the revelation of the secret that was rather obvious.
Drake became a known actor from Illinois who now works in New York, but when he learns that his little hometown is dying, he decides to go back there to shoot a film about the mines that had made the wealth of the city. There he finds his high school love that he gave up. As soon as he sees her again, he knows he will not be able to leave her again, but a secret holds her back, and she is backing away from a new relationship.

Drake and Trina were high school sweethearts when Drake started to pull away from Trina and then left without saying goodbye. However, he left her a piece of him behind. Ten years later, Trina has done the best she can for herself and daughter. Yet, she never forgot about Drake. When he shows up unexpectedly, all the feelings she had comes barreling back. Drake didn’t know that he left Trina pregnant, but he has never forgotten her. When he sees her, he realizes he still lives her and wants her back. This was a cute story about second chances. I do wish she told Drake sooner about Millie. It had a good storyline with great characters.

I loved this story . No drama, just a lovely story about a second chance at love .
Drake and Trina got together when he was nineteen and she was eighteen , and then he left. For ten years they missed each other . Drake knew that he loved Trina and always regretted leaving her . Now he has the chance to go back and make it right , but would she forgive him .
Trina always thought of Drake, she was reminded of him every day . Then one day he was on her doorstep with her twin brother , and he looks better than ever .
Such a great read

“The second time around”
High school sweethearts Trina and Drake had lost contact when he left town, but were reunited ten years later. He had come back to try to do something to save the town after the mine had shut down. Feeling that had laid dead were ignited when they were reunited. He fell in love with Amelia as well. What would they do when he returned to New York? Great characters, story, and writing make this a super delightful read.

Trina is a struggling single mother struggling to make ends meet. She has a nine-year-old daughter and works as a hairdresser. But she dreams of owning her own salon. Drake is a broadway actor who comes back to his hometown to try and breathe life back into it after all the mines closed. He plans on doing a documentary. Is it possible that Drake is the father of Amelia? Can Trina and Drake get their second chance? Lovely story.

Good read

Trina had Drake's baby alone, barely out of high school. He comes home ten years later none the wiser to find the one he left behind still as lovely as the day he left without a peep. They found their second chance at love and he didn't yell at her once for not telling him. Good story but editing could have been much better. Too many misplaced paragraphs and comma usage was atrocious. Highly distracting and caused a lot of re-reading.

What a wonderful book about how two people muss out on what life was suppose to be like and 9 years later are reunited with an extra surprise. Trina and Drake show us that love can withstand the test of time. I loved this book and give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.

Blast from the past and a gift

They were sweethearts and Drake left to pursue his dream if acting. Trina was left behind and he didn't know he'd left her a gift. Now 10 years later, the truth would be revealed.

I enjoyed this story! I love secret baby stories.

I'll say that there were a few typos. Maybe having someone proof the final copy will help.

The plot is good, I like secret baby books. However this had a lot of typos and editing mistakes. The characters were very awkward. There were lots of inconsistencies. Where was the 9 year old daughter as she never seemed to be home with her mom? The characters would say one thing and then the author must have forgotten they were going to do that. Very disappointing.

Just okay

The characters and the story line were good . But it seemed mundane fore some reason. I also found it took too long for the story line to pick up. But towards the end it seemed rushed.

This book wasn't what I expected but it turned out to be a good book. I really can relate to being a single parent always putting your child first I been there. So glad she was able to give her little girl the father she so needed.

Awwwwww

I loved it. I loved how Drake took it all in stride and knew what he wanted and needed to do. He didn’t get mad he took responsibility and moved forward. Trina just lived and hoped and life came to her. Great story.

It’s not a bad story, actually the premise was good but there is a disconnect somewhere along the story that makes you lose interest.

a wonderfully romantic book. this second chance in love is certainly deserved and the best thing is that he immediately gets a family. the main characters are well described and in addition to all the drama there is also plenty of room for passion and love. I found the book wonderful to read and that's why it gets me 4 stars.

I give a voluntary review for this book. thanks scarlet for the arc.
