Erin Price, gluten-free baker turned sleuth, is happy to be dabbling in a murder that this time is too old and too cold for her to be considered a suspect. As Erin begins to unearth the buried secrets of Bald Eagle Falls, she is forced to confront her own family’s dark history, a history which she knows little about. But there are others in the small town who are interested in the Price family; people who are determined to end her investigation at any cost.
Can Erin figure out who is behind the threats before more than her family secrets end up dead and buried?

My third read from author P.D. Workman (the first two were so good I had to read another immediately), although I own several of her books I’d never gotten around to reading one and after I’d acquired Auntie Clem’s Bakery #3 I wanted to read the first two books in the series before reading it, I really don’t like to read books out of sequence. Allergen-Free Assignation is extremely well written, the characters well developed. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make a reader get invested into the characters and thereby the book and now in the third book of the series you already know the characters and can appreciate the continued growth of the characters and the community as well as the author’s 3-book weave to get to this point. So many things from the first two well-written books now make even more sense with the culmination of the third book. I’m really glad I read the books in order and look forward to P.D. Workman’s next book.
I just finished Allergen-Free Assignation (Auntie Clem's Bakery Book 3). This was a great continuation of the first two books by PK Workman, Gluten Free Murder and Dairy Free Death. In them, Erin Price takes over Tea Room once owned by her late Aunt Clementine, and turns it into a gluten free bakery in the sleepy town of Bald Eagle Falls. Her decision is met with some small town stubbornness as the ladies of the town don’t want strangers nudging their lifelong friends out of business. But, as it turns out, there’s plenty of room for new business owners, as gluten free bakeries seem to be hard on the competition. And the competition’s ne’er do well son. Now Erin is up against another son and another mystery as a body is found under the cement in Aunt Clementine’s garage. And Willie hasn’t been heard from in days. What’s going on now in Bald Eagle Falls? And how does Erin always end up in the middle of things? I’m not tellin- read for yourself!
There is a lot going on in Allergen-Free Assignation, by P. D. Workman! Erin Price and her young transgender assistant, Vic, continue to keep busy at Auntie Clem's Bakery in Bald Eagle Falls, Tennessee. While her house is being fixed from fire and smoke damage, Erin, Vic, and Orange Blossom are staying at Mrs. Potter's cottage. In addition, Erin's garage has been knocked down because of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Adam Plaint twenty years ago. The concrete pad and foundation for Aunt Clementine's garage had actually been poured by the two Plaint brothers. With the help of ground-penetrating radar, the remains of a body were discovered under the cement. Erin also adopts another pet! I really enjoyed this third book in the Auntie Clem's Bakery mysteries. There seem to be a lot of secrets in Bald Eagle Falls!
Just finished P D Workman's ' Allergen Free Assignation '. This is the third book in the series and The story line and characters are staying true to form. I like the way the plot goes back and forth and keeps you guessing about what you think is going to happen next. I get angry with the main character Erin because at times it's like she is the teenager and her room mate is the adult. Then I remember the circumstances of their lives and you can understand. The best thing about these books are that when you go to turn the page to find out what happens next it's the end. So if you like stories that keep you on your toes and guessing these are the books for you. I can hardly wait for the next one to see what happens next. Keep up the good work. Cheers Lynn
I am intrigued by the storylines in this series of books. In this book, we learn more about transgender issues and, of course, allergies. Who knew that operating a gluten-free bakery in a small town could be so dangerous? I di enjoy the interplay between the main characters and will not reveal the plot because that is the fun of these books; the author keeps you guessing until the end of the story as to who the "bad guy" is.
Recommended for the days when series non-fiction book is not what you need.
Erin wanted answers to who was buried under her aunts garage. She also wanted answers to her own back ground and her parents. Vic was trying to be supportive and help as much as she could. Erin hired someone to work part time but that created issues of its own. Someone in town wanted her to drop investigating and she really was not doing much the police were but was she . Thinking about the right issues. Attempted murder and mystery keep you on the edge of your seat.
The 3rd in the series and one of the better reads. It was fun and suspensful and answered a lot of questions. But also asked a lot more. Ended with a cliff hanger so will be eagerly waiting for the 4th book.
I've been really enjoying this series. They are easy reads but fun and light. Recommended for mystery readers.
This was terrific! So much twisting, turning mystery and backstory that I am now even more hooked on these characters and their tales. The trans character and what she copes with make me want to jump in to the story to fix it....and somehow have that fix the world. These mysteries are a bright light in the world of cozy mysteries, and this one may be my favorite.
This is a great series but could be improved with some judicious proofreading. The plot is complex and very interesting. Great characters. The small minded people of the small town irritate the crap out of me but I guess this makes the story more interesting. I hope the author finds a way to give them a wake up call in future books.
Erin gets involved in a murder mystery when it is discovered that a man is buried under her garage. The murder is 20 years old and is somehow related to Erin's past.
I feel like I know these characters in this series and can feel their anguish and pain and their laughter. It just amazes me the twists and turns in this series and how I’m totally surprised by the ending events.
Another great murder mystery! In this one we learn more about Erin's past, which was exciting. There was a lot of excitement in general, with many twists and turns.
