For all things Clare Connelly, please see www.clareconnelly.co.uk, the official home of Clare Connelly on the web.

Clare Connelly grew up in a small country town in Australia. Surrounded by rainforests, and rickety old timber houses, magic was thick in the air, and stories and storytelling were a huge part of her childhood.

From early on in life, Clare realised her favourite books were romance stories, and read voraciously. Anything from Jane Austen to Georgette Heyer, to Mills & Boon and (more recently) 50 Shades, Clare is a romance devotee. She first turned her hand to penning a novel at fifteen (if memory serves, it was something about a glamorous fashion model who fell foul of a high-end designer. Sparks flew, clothes flew faster, and love was born.)

Clare has a small family and a bungalow near the sea. When she isn't chasing after energetic little toddlers, or wiping fingerprints off furniture, she's writing, thinking about writing, or wishing she were writing.

ARC provided by Author in exchange for an honest review.

I might have not been in the right frame of mind reading this, but I struggle.

I love most of Clare Connelly's books but this one I struggle with the characters and pacing.

Alice was Thanos assistant. She was a faithful and reliable assistant. Thanos finds himself within reaching distance of acquiring a company he wants more than anything. But of course there's a catch, the company CEO is a family man and traditional. Thanos is opposite, playboy extraordinaire.

When he see's his steady and prim assistant he comes up with a plan. Yep, the faithful let's marry so I can acquire this company.

She needs the money (for her family) and he needs to me married. He proposes his idea and she's at first shocked, Thonos is everything she opposes in a man, playboy and then some.

But each is in need of the other so the two agree to marriage (temporary one).

But once the "I do's" are said sparks fly.

I think the development of their relationship was in need of more emotion and dialogue. But each was a likable character. This story didn't wow me but did pass the time.

I will say again I normally love CC books, but either I wasn't in the right frame of mind or I couldn't get into the story line as much as I hoped.

I was bored but it's a safe read. Heroine is not a virgin sadly and hero is your typical playboy but they are faithful to each other.

So much emotion

I finished this book and I took a few minutes to think how to date it. There were parts that upset me, there were parts that moved me, there were parts that made me cry, and the sum total of all those parts made it a great love story.

Thanos the H was not an awful, cruel monster, even when he was breaking her heart. He was rich and privileged and he liked sex and parties. I thought I would hate him but I couldn't. And Alice, I hate that name by the way, was a really strong heroine. I loved her. And Kostas, the old man was so wise and I really felt his determination to get Thanos to finally grow up. He knew his potential.

So the heroine is a temp at Thanos office where they meet for the first time at a meeting where Kostas tells Thanos won't sell a company to him because he is a womanizing partier who would destroy Kostas' legacy. The heroine is struggling with medical bills for her Mother's comatose care. They make a bargain to marry in name only. She gets her Mom great care, a penthouse and millions of dollars, even though she didn't ask for it, and they wed. The first night they of course had sex. They continue to do so and one night she realizes she loves him so she tells him and like all HP heroes he shuts her down, doesn't love her because it's just sex. She immediately leaves and goes back to her Mother in America. It's three months later and she is still heartbroken. The hero goes to Kostas and tells him it was fake and Kostas gives him some great advice.

I loved the ending. It was so perfect, almost sappy but It made my heart go ahhhhh. A keeper for sure. And my favorite trope too. Cinderella! 💓

Bride Behind the Billion-Dollar Veil by Clare Connelly is a passionate ‘marriage of convenience’ romance for a wealthy businessman and his temp assistant.

Thanos Stathakis hates that he had to give up his grandfather’s company Peto in a business deal to Kosta Carinedes and he’s determined to get it back. His father Dion, who aligned himself with the mafia, is in jail and Thanos and his brother Leonidas are in charge now and the time has come to reclaim their heritage. The only problem is that he must convince the elderly Mr. Carinedes that he’s worthy of being its owner again. To do so, he has to prove that his playboy past is behind him and that he’s settling down.

When Alice started working as a temp assistant to Thanos in order to pay medical bills for her infirm mother, she never dreamed that just after she’d finally met him in person he’d propose a marriage of convenience! The money and status he’s offering to be his ‘wife’ will take care of her mother, her debts and give her a look into a life of luxury and indulgence. It’s to be a short term contract, long enough to get Thanos his company back and with a generous divorce settlement to ease Alice’s financial woes. But the chemistry between them leads to an intimacy and passion neither has experienced before. Will it also lead to a real happy ever after?

I really enjoyed this story! It’s a Cinderella theme, with Alice getting a look at lifestyles of the rich and famous when she agrees to marry Thanos. The setting starts in New York where Alice works for Thanos, but then features sailing adventures on Thanos’s yacht, a lovely side trip to Italy and a visit to Kosta Carinedes’s island paradise. Their wedding night is passionate and sensual, and they easily slip into a sexual relationship.

Thanos is determined to keep emotions out of their relationship, though that becomes harder as time goes by and he gets used to having Alice by his side. Both have had challenges in their upbringing. Alice never knew her father, only that her mother had been seduced and left pregnant so she knows she should guard her heart around Thanos (easier said than done). Thanos was abandoned by his mother at age 8 at his father’s house, disrupting that household. The only good thing that happened from that was his deep and abiding friendship with his half brother Leonidas. But it’s made him wary of trusting anyone else. When Alice confesses her real feelings for Thanos, he shuts her out, and then must make up for his mistake. They eventually get their happy ending and it is sweet and very satisfying. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable read.

I love CC and her writing style. you always have a double POV, you can follow the characters' evolution and their feelings and emotions. I love her damaged heroes, they are not cruel or mean, only full of insecurities. They are afraid to love and to be rejected. In this story our hero is a greek billionaire that lives like a playboy, always partying and changing women. He wants to buy a company who was his grandfather's and the man who own it doesn't want to sell it to a man with his reputation. he wants to sell it to a family man, who will leave it to his sons. The hero proposes his temp PA a moc, where he will pay all her debts and she will pretend to be his loving wife. She accepts the deal, because she has to pay for her mother's care. Of course they soon fall in lust and instead of a cold moc they have a passionate affair. After a couple of weeks together the heroine finds out, with a eery sense of foreboding, that she's in love with the hero and immediately wakes him up to tell him. He, who was rejected and abandoned by his mother at 8, and lived with a criminal father afterwards, is scared and tells her he can never love her. Of course they go separate ways. The hero is in love with the heroine but since his experience of love is not so good, he's unable to admit with himself he loves her. Eventually he understands and goes to the heroine to win her back. he was very sweet in the end. I can understand why he panicked, really after one week together a woman who tells yo she loves you it's a bit borderline, I panicked myself when she woke him up in the middle of the night to tell him she wanted to sped all her life with him... maybe let's spend a little more time together first, no?

An excellent and nuanced story from Ms Connelly. A marriage of convenience trope which was well executed with a slow burn romance that just grew and grew. Alice and Thanos each had their hang ups but they also had so many positive attributes that engaging in their story was a worthwhile investment. I liked the way this one built up the love story in such a realistic and believable way.

I loved this story so much, Thanos is a man who has closed his heart to love and Alice has been hurt by men and is not very trusting of men, but when Thanos wants to add to his company the only way he can do it is if he has a wife and his PA Alice Smart could be that woman.

Alice Smart works hard as a temp but struggles financially caring for her mother, when the boss she has been working for, for months finally arrives at his New York office and discovers that she is in need of money he makes an offer too good to refuse to be his pretend wife, but on their wedding night that ends very passionately Alice is losing her heart to the man that will become her hero.

Thanos Stathikas was hurt as a child and now lives the life of a playboy although wealthy there is one company that he wants very badly and although he has sworn of marriage this will be the only way he will get the company back but spending time with Alice will melt the wall around his heart, he has never felt like this with a woman before, can it be love?

This book is a sensual and moving story one that won my heart from the start I loved both Thanos and Alice two people meant to be together to see their passion build and their hearts open was just beautiful and the ending OMG it was amazing, and the setting Greece I love Greek heroes. I loved this one and can highly recommend this one, MS Connelly you rock another fabulous story.

SERIE IL MIO PAZZO RICCO MATRIMONIO GRECO vol. 2
VOTO 3.5 stelle

I still dont get why the hero is named after a big purple titan who's obsessed with wiping half of the population. Why the hell did the author name the hero Thanos? It said he almost had it all, what more does Thanos want? Ah, yes. Infinity stones, he gon wipe half of the universe. I'm sorry, I'm a big MCU fan and I'm too gen Z to read this 💀

《💍 3.75 stars 💰》

It was my first time reading this author and I liked it. I found this not your typical M&B, and thank goodness, because I was debating giving up on the Modern line. I found the last books I read quite boring and silly for these times.

Even though the story begins with the classic marriage of convenience to obtain, in 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐒 case his heritage back and for 𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐄, to care for his mom—who’s in a coma—and to be a debtless person; it wasn’t as bad as I imagined. The thing is, sometimes I find these plots a bit unrealistic for this era but it worked in this book because it wasn’t the center of the story, it was just the beginning for what was most important, their relationship. And I really liked how it developed. It’s true there wasn’t the normal quota of drama you find in these kind of books (that borders on the ridiculous and exasperate me) but that’s the good in this story. Their relationship growth was realistic and I enjoyed it. At least it didn’t happen in a few days.

Like I said there wasn’t too much drama, still there was some…Both have chips on their shoulders thanks to their parents. That’s something that they had to fight to go to the next phase. Thanos was the more stubborn, being abandoned by his mom left him feeling loveless and unexpectedly Alice has a similar past but she was the braver in this relationship. They realize they have many similarities even if they came from different worlds. He takes his freaking time; however, he 𝓭𝓲𝓭 realize his mistake with the help of a matchmaker old man.

P.S. I have to say it, I know the name Thanos is greek but I couldn’t take it seriously when I kept thinking about Thanos from Avengers. LOL

I didn't think I'd enjoy a story without angst, revenge or some lunatic behavior from the hero, but CC proved me wrong. Thanos the son of the Mafia king and half brother of Leonidas (Book 1) was rejected by his parents which made him formidable and heartless. He had to sell his grandfather's company to save it since he was self destructing to Kostas, a friend of his grandfather. Hatching the plan of a pretense marriage to Alice, the temp with huge debts and an ailing mother to win over Kostas family oriented business. Alice was equally scarred as Thanos which made them soulmates. She was rejected by the men in her life and abandoned by them. Woo the arrangement suited her well when every debt and her mother would be taken care of. What they didn't bargain in was their growth of love for each other their healing and merging of hearts. Alice embraced it but out of fear Thanos rejected it. Thanks to likable Kostas, this cupid ,directed Thanos to his !mistakes and fear. Thanos was remorseful and boy did he grovel in style. I enjoyed this one more than the first book. I wanted the not her to heal and recover, it would have been a 5🌟 for me if she did. I liked this one.I recommend for those interested in a soft read.

Not a whole lot of angst to this, but Thanos has his demons that prevented him from realizing that he'd fallen in love with his "fake" wife, Alice. I loved reading as each tried to keep the MOC according to the business deal they'd made, but then became closer to each other. Alice was the first one to realize it, but Thanos was so damaged by his upbringing that he totally rejected her. It took Kosta (the man they were trying to fool) to bring Thanos to his senses.

I *loved* the way he decorated his apartment:
The entire apartment was blanketed in red rose petals. The entire apartment. It was like a red carpet, thick and luscious. She shook her head as she waded through them, her heart beating harder and faster, her mind unable to make any sense of it. ‘Thanos?’ Her voice was curt. And she understood why she felt annoyed. Because this didn’t make sense. And he shouldn’t be here. And this was too much. And, and, and... Her body’s defence mechanisms were firing to life, boarding up her too-soft heart, protecting her from the kinds of vulnerability that had led to her being hurt so badly. A noise sounded and she shifted her focus, gasping once more when she saw what was beyond the balcony doors. Candles. Hundreds of candles.

Alice Smart is taking care of her mom but struggling financially in her temp job. Thanos Stathakis is a super wealthy greek who she works for. Thanos wants to take over a business but is having a hard time because the owner feels he isn't the family man he wants to run his company, and is the playboy the press says he is. When he meets Alice and understands her difficulties he sees the opportunity joining forces would make. He asks her to be his temporary bride, to help him get what he wants and he will financially help her. Sounds like a great plan except Alice falls in love with her hero and he has no plan to ever love. At least that's what he tells himself, so why does she cause him to have feelings he never experienced before? Has he finally met the one that cold melt his cold heart? An incredibly sensual fantastic story. The second book in the Crazy rich Greek wedding's and another book for my keeper shelf.

This was just what the doctor ordered for me. If you're looking for a story with no royals, sheikhs, secret babies or one-night stand pregnancies, this is the perfect book. The two main characters are well drawn out, the development of their attraction and feelings was believable. The subtle nuances that show a growing love were dispersed nicely throughout. It was the perfect read for a cold Autumn day. I loved it. And the grovel/win-back scene was above and beyond romantic.

I enjoyed this story; I read it in one sitting.
Both characters were likable and interesting. They both suffered traumas in their past that fed into their feelings of being unloveable. There were really only two secondary characters who supported the hero. This made for a story that really honed in on the development of Alice and Thano’s relationship.

I Enjoyed The Story And The Ending Was Ok, But Could Have Been Better. The H Is A Party Guy And The h Is A Loving Daughter. It Was Just Too Short, I Wanted To See More Of His Redemption To Feel He Could Change And Settle Down. The h Was A Little Quick With Her Admission Of Love And Jump To Leave.
But Nevertheless Another Good CC Story.

It's an Heartwarming story about love and loss. I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would given that the first book in the series was very beautifully written.
