Inspired by a post on Tumblr, this is a AU story set during Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts, with one big, foul-mouthed difference. Instead of Horace Slughorn, the position of Potions professor will be taken on by...Gordon Ramsay.

It started off as a fairly light-hearted AU where Gordon Ramsey was hired instead of Slughorn.
As time went on, it delved into the horrors of war, grief, the grey areas of the wilding world, told the stories of characters in both sides of the conflict, and ultimately made me cry.
It was really good.

What an epic.

Unlike others, I really enjoyed the huge cast of characters. It felt powerful, reading about what was actually going on in other places while the golden trio kept out of sight for so long.

I read complex novels for fun, so keeping tabs on them all was easy.

Sure, some of the additional representations felt a bit forced, and I am nearly 100% confident the writer of this feels themselves to be Slytherin, but the characters all had depth beyond the one-dimensional way they were represented by JKR.

Really, this isn't a Harry Potter story. He's an additional character. If anything, the first half is a Ron Weasley story, and the second half is a scatter gun of multiple other characters.

Yes, it could have done with editing. Yes, there are a number of extraneous scenes. Yes, it's still an absorbing read once you get past the first half and into the darkness of the war.

Found it *really* hard to go back to the Chamber of Secrets that I'm currently reading out loud to Mr8 while reading this. I developed a MUCH deeper bond with some of the characters who were killed off in the war in this book than I had from the original series, like the Creeveys - if you think the movies did them wrong, you'll even think JKR did them wrong after this.

This fic is just so- wow.

Basically, in Harry's 6th year, Dumbledore hires Gordon Ramsey as the Potions professor at Hogwarts. Gordon cares deeply about his students and their safety (more so than any other professor seems to, because of which he often ends up screaming at them), and so he gets Dumbledore to cancel all outings (to the students anger). To help the students, he starts up "MagicChef Junior", (aka magic Masterchef) and the fic then follows the lives of the 12 students who are chosen as the competitors (some of whom are canonical characters and some of whom are OCs) during the competition and after Voldemort comes to power.

Just a warning, there are a LOT of OCs and characters in general whose lives you have to follow, which may be confusing, but I enjoyed it. I got so attached to the characters and I just could not stop reading it. It starts off a crackfic(ish) thing but turns into this serious and fleshed out story- wow.

Technically I'm not actually done. I am still trogging my way through this and I have 9 chapters or so left, but I don't see my opinion changing. This is a prime example of why it's important to know what to CUT. This was WAY too long and despite there being a fair amount happening, somehow still managed to be so boring. I think the problem was that there were way too many OCs and I had no clue who anyone was and I just don't even care. I read fanfiction because I want comfortable, familiar characters. OCs are fine to add seasoning to a story but use them with caution. A dash of pepper to a dish. They poured the whole damn bottle of pepper onto this meal and it was just TOO MUCH. I was reading this with a group of people but everyone else bailed by the 50% mark.

Very, very busy story. If you're looking for a story with queer representation, this has it in spades--honestly, to the point of being detrimental to the pacing. If you're looking for a story about Gordon Ramsay as a Potions professor, you may be disappointed. There are at least 16 POVs in addition to Ramsay, and a significant portion of those are OCs. I ended up skimming a lot of the story--the author retreads A LOT of Deathly Hallows--and despite the massive changes to the relationships, the author did a lot of bending over backwards to justify with certain canon events and all canon pairings.

Clever premise, great first few chapters, but inevitably too long and convoluted to be worth a reread.

FINALLY FINISHED THIS!! While I read 4 books in January, this took me the entirety of February (during a lap year nonetheless!) and a bit of March. The first half (focusing on the Half-Blood Prince) was actually really fun and I blazed through it. But when it moved into the plot of Deathly Hallows, there was just soooo much filler. It was actually really nice to learn so much about random side characters, give them stories and redemption arcs, and I loved how some plot lines changed entirely while others stayed within the "reality" of the original. That being said, I didn't need like 300 or so pages of diary entries ;;
3.5 if Goodreads allowed for half stars.

I loved this fic so much! A lot of reviews don't like the fact it has a lot of OCs, but honestly I think they make them better! I loved all the relationships between them, and this book had me actually sobbing, instead of being a little sad like I was when I read the actual books.

((SPOILERS AHEAD!!!))
I'm just going to be spitballing about all the things I liked, so be warned for abrupt switches!

Ajurna's death had me SOBBING, and everyone's reaction to all the deaths were the worst of all. I loved Rose's and Lucius's dynamic! Peppy child and Gloomy adult dynamics are always fun! I loved Draco's character, I've always thought he deserved to be written better than he was. The cooking competion was so fun to watch, and I loved all the characters! BRIDGET!! Colin's and Millicent's death (and everyone's reaction to it) had me sobbing to my sister, THEY SACRIFICED SO MUCH AND THEY STILL DIED!!! I loved reading the notebook entries, and trying to guess who was writing by their style! They all have their own unique style of writing, and that's amazing!

Okay I think I'm done here, but I 100% recommend this fic!

Such a fun concept to put Gordon Ramsay as a Potions Master at Hogwarts. It provided some seriously hilarious scenes, but there was more to this fanfic. It also gave a broader look at many characters, the fight against Voldemort, and Fred didn't die! :D So yeah, big thumbs up. Liked it a lot.

~~~
Re-read it after someone liked my review. I had totally forgotten that this fic existed, but subconsiously it did stay with me because everytime I saw Gordon Ramsey on TV it reminded me of the universe where he was Potions teacher. However, almost every other plotpoint and character from this fic was completely gone from my memory.
I do think that the author could have done a lot more with Ramsey and the changes his appearance caused for the plot. Why stop at saving Fred? Now a lot was the same as the books and, I mean, I read those...
Still a hilarious concept tho.
I was one of those readers, who followed this story from the first chapters. It captured me with the premise of "Gordon Ramsey in the wizarding world" but I stayed for the amazing storytelling and fleshed out characters.
It was a delight to read imagitory's story, see her (and JK's) characters' development throughout the chapters as it went from light-hearted and fun comedy to actual drama and tragedy. It is LONG no doubt in that - it contains the events of the last 3 HP books! and also adds to them! But if you like the premise and want diverse characters, do not be afraid to start this piece.
It started out pretty slow, but it got better. A lot better.
I really liked the world-building and I actually prefer this to the original series. Shocking. It starts kind of crack-fic-y but builds up to be a very emotional and touching fic. Who thought adding a wizard MasterChef would change so much?
I know many people don't like too many OCs, but I actually liked them and they were all quite compelling characters. It expanded on canon where canon failed, and I think that's what makes it a great fic.
Honestly, this was probably one of the best pieces of fanfiction I have read.
I went in expecting a funny little fic to relax, and came out with one of the best fics I've ever read. Reading fanfics is insane because wdym I'm sobbing over a fic of Gordon Ramsay teaching at Hogwarts.
TLDR: Gordon Ramsay teaches potions during HBP, starts a ✨Junior MagicChef✨ competition for the students, and then we follow the ex competitors into the chaos of war.
The premise of this fic was absolutely hilarious, however the author took it and then gave us so much more, after getting attached to these 12 lovable kids, and follow them in their daily lives while the world falls apart.
This fic does something that was insanely overlooked on canon, which is tackling the lives of everyone else during war. While Harry, Ron and Hermione hunted for horrocruxes, people had to go into hiding, fled the country, hid in safehouses, stared resistance groups, people killed or permanently injured. Every character has its own story, and this fic does it perfectly.
I laughed and got excited during the magic chef competition, I got worried and scared when characters went into hiding mirroring Holocaust stories, I'm not a crier while reading but I genuinely teared up multiple times with these characters.
I already told everyone I know about this masterpiece, and it still feels like it's not enough.
i think it is unfair to have to give this entire book a rating as a whole - it was very extremely long, and some parts would've gotten 5 stars, even. Of course, essentially, this is a fan fiction posted online so I'm not complaining about the length, but overall the ups and down average out to 3-4 stars. Pretty good, overall, loved the Half Blood Prince part. Deathly Hallows - overall I adored it but it was also in this section of the book that some of it temporarily became a bit hard to get through.
On the whole I still loved it, and I loved loved the ending much more than I ever have liked it in the real Deathly Hallows.
Never thought I'd be reading a Gordon Ramsay x Harry Potter crossover, but this was adorable! I loved how the friendships made through the magical cooking contest show how food can bring unexpected people together, and cause tiny but impactful changes to the original events of the books throughout the war.
