A modern-day fairytale Being a prince is great and all, except royal expectations. Rey would much rather be online with his guild enjoying life his own way, but his parents have other plans for a royal ball. This attempt to help him find someone sounds like a royal pain. Too bad the invitations are out and can’t be taken back, even with magic. Things could be more fun with a little guildmate shenanigans and a cosplay theme. Can Rey make the best out of this mess with the help of his guild or will the ball be a royal flop? *For The Guild is part of a fairytale universe. The first three can be read in any order. Suggested reading order by the -An Unexpected Brew -For The Guild -Of Beasts And Bells

For the Guild is set in the same universe as An Unexpected Brew though presumably a different kingdom as it follows a prince this time and it's not the prince from Brew. Reyfair, or ReyWraith as he is known to his guildmates, is a 25 year old prince who plays mmos with his friends when he isn't doing royal work. He has little interesting in romance which doesn't make his mom, the queen, happy in the least and so she forces a ball on him. Trying to make things a little better he manages to convince her to make it a cosplay ball and allow his guildmates to join in on the fun. Meanwhile, he starts to become pretty good friends with one of the newest guildmates, Cat, who just so happens to be the cousin of James, one of Rey's longest friends. Cat has an awful home life and Rey helps as best he can with that. We get to see more modern magic which is always fun. I love magic modern settings where the magic is common place. In some ways this novella is like An Unexpected Brew. We have a prince and a girl with a bad home life but it's from the prince's POV this time instead and a bunch of other things that make it different. But if you really liked Brew then you should definitely read For the Guild. It's a super cute fairy tale and a fast read. Oh! and it has puppies! Oh! I forgot to add that this has LGBT+ rep too! The MC is bi and though it's not explicitly stated he is also pretty obviously demiromantic.

I loved this book! As a nerd/geek, it really spoke to me. I could really tell the author had fun writing this story, and I had a blast reading it. I got a lot of strange looks reading this book, since I would keep laughing out loud in front of people. One of my top books of the year, for sure.

A cute, easy read. Lots of smiles, lots of laughs, just a dash of angst. Great to relax with.

This is a fun fairy tale retelling that mashes it up with magic, gaming, and technology. It's a quick, enjoyable read, and there are a lot of puppies to enjoy too.

This was a quick, sweet read. A modern day fairytale with some magic mixed in. Great interaction between friends. There were a few things happening that could have used some more explanation.

For the Guild is a fun read full of friendship, likeable characters, and puppies. Big puppies. 😍 I'm not a big gamer myself, but the occasional drop of gamer jargon didn't detract from my enjoyment of this book. If you are a gamer, you'll love it even more.

Personally, I think these fairy tale style mashups (An Unexpected Brew is another good read!) are where J.E. Mueller really shines. She has a goofy sense of humor and a real love of life and humanity that fill every page. Basically, what I'm saying is, read this book :)
