Zedo Jeta was a 14-year-old that appeared to be like any other teenager. The only difference between him and any other teen was the fact that he's a secret agent. As a member of Secret Agency XII, a black ops program tasked with one mission: to create the world's first super human; a human gifted with super natural powers, Zedo Jeta became the prime subject for the program.
After an experiment went haywire under the direction of the sinister Dr. Burton, Zedo fell into a coma for thirty years! He awoke in the year 2020 and craved vengeance against the man that robbed him of his life.
Now with the help of other secret agents, Zedo prepares for the fight of his life, and he'll take down anyone who gets in his way. However, there's so much for him to do before he can travel across the stars.

Jay DeMoir is the owner of DeMoir Books & Things in Memphis, TN and as a child discovered that his life could be a whirlwind of adventures by simply opening a book and reading. He still has a fondness for fantasy, sci-fi, and general fiction, which is probably why he writes for those genres.

When Jay DeMoir isn't working on his next book, he's usually binge-watching old tv shows on DVD or making music or teaching young minds.

Really enjoyed seeing a diverse group of people with powers. I wouldn't call them superheros. It put me in the mind of xmen, but it was new and interesting.
Zedo has a lot of interesting powers and a lot of baggage. I imagine he'll continue to unpack it in the next book?

This book is such a thrill ride! I initially wrote it in 2004 when I was in 7th grade, but the story has grown to be soooo much more! Some of the same parts from '04 remain inside this novel that's a mix of adventure,sci-fi,drama, & romance.
But to see Zedo grow from a thought to a fully formed character is amazing. I might be a little biased since I wrote it, but it's truly a roller coaster ride for lovers of superpowers, magic, and fast-paced stories.
Once you finish this one (and I hope you enjoy it) books 2-9 are out for you to enjoy! :)

Wow what a story here! I have to say, I went into Across the Stars with the smallest of expectations. I really didn’t know what to expect. I very rarely encounter Superhero novels. The last I encountered was Marissa Meyers’ Renegades. But when I do encounter Superhero novels, they often find a way to nudge themselves into that soft spot of mine. These type of stories have the ability to be anything they want to be. In this case AtS is my favorite interpretation of the SH genre. It chooses to focus on life.

Zedo Jeta (the main protag) is a very dynamic character. His life has been taken away from him—his adolescences robbed by a shadowy government who coerced him into signing up for something he couldn’t begin to image. He finds himself in an irreversible situation where he is thrust into a near-future post-apocalyptic world whilst being hunted by an omnipotent madman. The premise is brilliant that’s more than delivered on its execution.

The best parts in the story that I enjoyed were the character interactions and the Zedo’s growth overtime. He begins to put his trust into others again and learns the new rules of the world he’s been dropped into. There is plenty of nonstop action to keep you up at night reading and you can’t wait to get to the next part.
This book was a true labor of love through and through and I couldn’t help but feel the author’s passion behind the words. If you’re into superheroes that lean more onto the human side of things, than this book is for you! I greatly enjoyed the read.

Came across this on amazon.
Was caught by the premise and cover. I felt some parts were drawn out while others went by too fast. overall, I enjoyed it and seeing a character with multiple powers evolve so quickly seemed very interesting and dangerous.
However, I did enjoy Zedo and how Lester was a true villian.
The author stumbled through a few chapters and I grew irritated with the constant stops at hotels. But I could tell when the author got into a good stride, especially with the action sequences. They were very detailed and I could picture them vivdly in my head.

Can totally see this as a movie. Will probably read the next book. Definitely going to share with my nephew who loves superhero book.

took me a little while to get into the book. the first few chapters were a little slow to me, but eventually it picked up. I really liked it. Mona seemed like such a bitch the entire book. I have no idea how Zedo fell for her.
Tempestt would've been a better match. they seemed to click easier.

I liked the action scenes, they were very well written and I could envision it all in my mind. The villains were well written, too, and I loved that Lester seemed to be a tortured soul.

4 stars for me. only because of the beginning chapters and a few in the middle that could've bben left out due to being a little slow or not needed if they didn't progress the plot

3 1/2 stars. though it was an engaging read, i had some issues with the book.
yes the characters are diverse but i was kind of offended that ardet was Arab and a villian in native garb. it was a stereotype

on the other hand, zedo was a strong character.
I didn't understand why everyone fit into the stereotypical roles. like eddie was asian and a smart doctor. Mona was a white prissy girl. gonzo was a hardworking hispanic with a tough life, and zedo was a biracial kid unloved by the world. I wonder what the purpose of all that was?
the world is divided enough.

strong action scenes but maybe next time not make the sequel so political
