Rusty Labuschagne details the 10 years he spent in prison in Zimbabwe. He was falsely charged with and convicted of murder, but was innocent. The conviction appears to have been politically motivated.
There were frightening, disturbing and daunting challenges in surviving the circumstances in all the places of incarceration - Binga Remand Prison, Khami Maximum Security Prison, Chikurubie Maximum Security Prison, Harare Central and Connemara. In the book, he also looks back on his life.

He is a brave man, who, through faith and sheer determination came through the ordeal and has started a new life on the outside.

Being a Zimbabwean, living there at the time these events were taking place and knowing most of the characters, this book was particularly interesting and somewhat disturbing. The author's fortitude is nothing short of immense! The zealous use of adjectives gave the narrative a surprisingly positive tone considering the subject matter. Definitely worth reading if you have any interest in what life is like in a Zimbabwean prison.

This book is not an easy read but it's not a dark read.
The crimes and corruption in the Zimbabwe legal and prisons is astounding.
Conditions are extreme and would never be permitted in the UK.
It's testament to Rusty strength of character and resilience that he made it through the ten year sentence.
The most profound and inspiring story with the final chapter so powerful.
