So far I can’t get enough of this series, I’m completely consumed by it. I feel so invested in what happens with Eve, Asher and their rolls in what happens between good vs evil. I love this series so far and highly, highly recommend it to read. The only thing I don’t like is the Author is a little repetitive with saying some of the same thing’s, but I still love the characters and story line.

Restraint is book two of The Revelation Series. This continues Asher and Eve’s story.

I was really impressed with the first book of this series. I have never heard of the author but I took a gamble and well it paid off. I am always cautious going into the second book of any paranormal series because usually the main characters split or it doesn’t live up to the height of the previous book, but to my surprise the pace and flow kept on going and so did I.

Restraint is basically that, Restraint. It’s Eve and Asher’s relationship put to the test. First off, this is not a young adult book as I previously imagined and that’s okay, bring on the steam! So if you are looking for that, you get plenty of it. Asher and Eve can’t be together it’s forbidden, but how unfair is it that they are blood bonded? I find the whole situation really unfair and I’m grasping hard to understand how they, the powers to be, could force Asher and Eve to have this platonic relationship despite the blood bond.

I’m also struggling why it’s unfair for the two to be together, yes it’s explained to me several times, but I just don’t see it, I guess I need something more. Anyhow, Asher and Eve try hard to keep it friendly, but the chemistry is too much and touches and kisses happen. They are playing with fire basically.

During all of this, the gang continue to protect Eve and help Eve struggle with her heighten emotions towards Asher. I feel really bad for Eve, her whole life was a lie and now she spends 12 hours a day training to protect herself, I feel like really?! How mean can you be, but Eve takes it in strides and I commend her.

I really enjoyed Gage’s parts and I like seeing his different sides, he’s still a jerk, but something tells me he has a bigger role in the future books and I’m welcoming it. I love Asher still, but at times he can rub me the wrong way, maybe it’s his hot and cold personality, but he wouldn’t be a broody Hero if he wasn’t.

The story was a bit descriptive in the beginning but it picks up eventually and basically that had me glued to the pages. I will continue with the story to see what happens.

You know what? I'm choosing to be done with this series for now. As interesting as the world the author created is, I can't stand the heroine and the should-they-shouldn't-they thing she has with Asher.

If only the heroine, Eve, used a brain cell or two and had a backbone this would be an incredible series! She's impulsive and puts plans into action without considering the consequences. There's the whole love-kinda-triangle she has with Gage and Asher that's a thing I dislike. She's also very whiny and as much as she trains she still pretty pathetic when an actual fight is concerned.

Asher is still on his hot and cold train. It's gotten old and stale at this point. The worse part is that it's never been explained why he and Eve can't be together. It's only ever said that they can't but (as far as I remember, please correct me if I'm wrong and missed something with all my eye-rolling) no one ever comes right out and explains why that's a thing that can't happen and that's the most frustrating part about it for me. It becomes even weirder when secondary characters in the story incentivize them being together all the while knowing they're prohibited from making it a thing.

This whole book was one big will-they-won't they between Eve and Asher. It felt like a filler and a slow-moving one at that. If the ending had been what Eve was thinking about because of her dream/premonition/magical-powers it would have made the stakes way higher. Thus making one heck of an ending!

Overall, I don't want to put myself through the rest of this series at the moment. It's not necessarily that bad (because the universe the author built is pretty cool), I just don't want to have to deal with whiny spineless characters in the books I read.

The Audio Book:

I enjoyed Jorjeana Marie's narration a lot! She has a very calming voice and it made this book fly by! She has a nice range of male and female tones and accents. From the reviews I've read on books narrated by her, you'll either love her voice or you'll hate it, so listen to the sample before doing anything.

There’s a lot of push and pull in this second book with Eve and Asher both fighting there bonded connection due to the forbidden nature of there feelings. It could get slightly tiresome at times though as when one seemed to be all in the other would then pull away then it was like rinse repeat but the other way round.

There’s new characters introduced here along side all the old familiar ones
also new enemies and allies we get some slight OW drama and things definitely heat up on the steam front.

Eve is now firmly ensconced within the London clan and events here eventually come to a dramatic conclusion when the consequences of there love reaches the ears of the council leaving Eve distraught from the fallout. Things are definitely getting interesting that’s for sure.

I really enjoyed reading Revelation, the first book in the series, but I LOVED Restraint!

Whilst there was a lot of laying down the groundwork in the first book, this book hit the ground running and was all about the story. And what a story it is! The connection between Asher and Eve is getting stronger by the minute, and the tension between them was electric. I felt like I would spontaneously combust waiting for them to ‘get it on’! I wasn’t too sure about Asher in the first book, he seemed to blow hot and cold with Eve, so she didn’t know where she was at with him, but oh boy, she knows now. He wants her. And he makes his intentions known. But there’s a snag. Isn’t there always!

He’s her sworn protector. And she’s human. He is not. They also just happen to be preparing for a war between Heaven and Hell. Their relationship would be frowned upon on more than one level, but these two are just perfect for each other. He pushes her to explore her boundaries, to push herself further than she would go on her own. And she tests him to his limits too. She’s not afraid to challenge him. He’s used to being treated reverently and deferred to in his position as… (you’ll have to read it to find out!)… And so when Eve stands up to him he finds it refreshing.

Asher has me hooked completely, he’s so protective of Eve and he can talk the talk AND walk the walk. He certainly gets me all hot and bothered, so I can understand how Eve finds it hard to resist the ‘Sexy One’. Alas, the title of this book is Restraint, so that’s what they must use – lots of it. There were moments were I was like ‘oh my’ and needed a cold drink, because Randi Cooley Wilson has really built up the attraction and tension between Asher and Eve, and I could feel the heat coming off them!

I love Callan and Abby, Callan makes me laugh, especially with his need to bake when he’s *ahem* frustrated, and Abby is a great friend to Eve. I don’t feel so much toward Keegan and McKenna just yet, but there’s still time – who knows what will happen in book three.

Gage is still there, adding to the mix. I thought he was a bit too cocky and aloof in Revelation, but there’s more insight into him in this book, we get to know a bit about his background. I felt really sorry for him, and understood a bit more about why his allegiance is to himself primarily and also why he owes Deacon a favour.

Randi has really pulled it out of the bag emotion wise – there’s passion, anguish, jaw dropping heart-stopping moments, and heart-breaking scenes too. I found this story to be really fast paced, it was one of those books where ‘just one more chapter’ leads to another 3. Which is all well and good when you don’t have other commitments, but when it makes you late for the school run…. you get the idea! Before I knew it I was at the end, and I wasn’t ready for it to be over. I loved how it finished, I didn’t expect it, so I can’t wait to read what happens next.

This one picks up closely to where we left off. Eve is still trying to move past the death of her best friend and it's not easy. She blames herself for being so preoccupied with the sexy Asher. She tries to stay away from him but it doesn't work and in between her being kidnaped and all the crap going on with Lucifer and his minions, she's falling harder for Asher and he's falling back. Though that's forbidden, so what will become of them?

While I still think I prefer the fist one over this one, the quality in this one is much better. The writing has taken a step up and so has the pacing, it's moving at a much better pace now. I found myself flying through it.

The ending though... it kind of ripped my heart out and then just ran off with it. If you pick up this series make sure you have them all ready as you'll want to binge this, the cliffhangers will kill you otherwise.

I love this world more than anything, there is every kind of supernatural creature in here and I'm loving it. The characters are all well developed and I love them.

So if you're looking for a NA paranormal romance, then look no further because this series is for you!

My only complaint is that the h is immature and quite frankly, TSTL...and for those that don’t know what that is, it’s TOO STUPID TO LIVE.

Other than that, I love the story!

Well guess what everyone? Eve is still very much WHINY... OMG there isn't much worse than a heroine with no backbone! How am I to take one who is suppose to be the "savoir" of Mankind seriously when Eve always acts like a damsel in distress? Answer: I can't. "Your my protector, Save me save me". Ugh grow some tits Eve and try saving yourself!!!

But I guess it doesn't help when Eves (Protectors) the Gargoyles and everyone else that matters is keeping her in the dark and there are sooooo many damned secrets. I HATE ALL THE SECRETS! Perhaps Eve would take shit more seriously, like oh I don't know her (training) if she actually was well informed seeing as how it is H-E-R Destiny. Why do they all treat her like a child?

I was happy that there was more of the romance in this book at least. And I love Callam and Abby a lot. Even Kenna is growing on me. I want more Gage though :( I hope as the books go on that he has more of a presents. This story could have been GREAT but so far all it's been about is forbidden love. It's wayyy to fast paced and skips over the things that needs more than 5 seconds.

Review to come!

Update 8/13/14:

There is so much to love in this book that there aren't enough words to describe it all! I absolutely loved the first book in this series, and Restraint just blew my mind. And trust me, it will blow your mind as well. This novel picks up right where Revelation left off, and the story just takes off running. There are many twists and turns that your head will be spinning. The story is fast-paced and never once boring or dull, and it all leads to an ending that will leave you completely heartbroken.

The writing is phenomenal, and proves that Ms. Wilson is one to watch. Every scene is so well described, and the world she has created is completely unique. Trust me, after reading this, you will want your own gargoyle protector. Additionally, the sexy scenes, will leave you fanning yourself. Things get hot and heavy in this one, much more than in the last book, and it is just whoa! Nevertheless, every scene is handled with a grace that's never overly graphic or trashy. It is important to note that where I feel the first book could be classified as YA, this novel is definitely NA.

However, where the writing truly shines is in the characters. Every single character is extremely relatable, and they act realistically in the situations thrown at them. None of the characters are ever fake or unbelievable. They seem like real people, and this is something I always love in any book. Eve is an amazing heroine. She is such a strong and brave person that is willing to go to any lengths to protect those around her. She really steps it up in this book, and doesn't shy away from furthering her ascension. She also still has her sass and humor, which is always a good thing. Asher...the boy is HOT!! And he will have you swooning majorly while reading this book. I love his protectiveness over Eve, and you can see how much he truly cares for her. As I said earlier, the romance is turned up to level mucho caliente, and Asher and Eve are forced to confront their feelings for each other. I loved that Eve wasn't afraid to stand up to Asher, and they are so perfect for each other. But by the time this book is over, you will be praying that everything just works out okay so that they can just be in each others' lives.

Abby and Callan are another couple that just crack me up. I absolutely love them, especially Callan. I seriously wish he was in my life because he is so much fun! I especially loved his "baking" times when he is, how shall we say frustrated? It's just hilarious.

Overall, this book is absolutely fantastic, and I highly recommend checking this series out. Be warned, there is a major event that happens at the end of this book, and it will leave you longing for the third book, Redemption. There is a sneak peek, and boy does it give a hint of things to come. I can't wait to see what happens next! Happy reading :)

Restraint, by far, is my favorite book in the Revelation series by Randi Cooley Wilson. Of course, I say this only having read books 1-5. Who knows, book 5 might change my mind. Seriously, though? This book was hot.

It’s funny that Restraint ended up being my favorite book, so far, because I actually wasn’t very fond of the first few chapters. It’s not that they weren’t good. I was just really frustrated over the whole Asher/Eve situation. The whole “we can’t be together or else dooms day will come” concept being repeated over and over again was frustrating. I have to say, though, the super heavy hot scenes between them made it so worth it. I’ve been struggling with the understanding if this book is YA or NA. Let me be the first to tell you, this book is totally NA. OMG. SO HOT. So. Flipping. Hot. It was just what I wanted to read.

Asher, as always, was absolutely amazing. I adored him. If for no other reason, you must go read this book for him. Gage is pretty hot, too!

The ending made me really sad. Like….really sad. It ends on a huge cliffhanger. Fortunately, all the books have now been released! So, you can binge them, like me! If you’re anything like me, you’ll binge them in less than a week!

Go read this book!

If you haven't read book one, Revelation, stop here. Go read Revelation, it's great, - don't worry, I'll wait. Ready?

Randi Cooley Wilson turns up the dial on everything in Restraint, the sexual chemistry, the danger, the connection between Eve and Asher, the romance, the risk they take if they pursue their attraction.

The world gets a little bigger in Restraint. We meet other characters, both good and bad and jealousy inducing. We also get to see a little more about the effects of the bond and the sacrifices Eve and Asher each have to make. As to their relationship, despite the continuing on/off nature of their relationship I really like them together in their sweet moments - the Property of London tee shirt - and their steamier ones, even when they're at each other's throats.

I like that Randi Cooley Wilson isn't afraid to hurt her characters, to injure them physically and emotionally, to take away what they love the most, it definitely makes for an interesting read. And the end? Another gasp! What?! Where is book three? Must read now!

Randi Cooley Wilson is quickly becoming one of my favorite Paranormal Romance writers! If you are fan of Jennifer L Armentrout, specially her The Dark Elements Series, then you have to check this book out!! It's about Gargoyles to, but it's unique and fabulous in it's own way!

I was engrossed from page one. Literally could not put the book down. I even read it every minute I got at work! It was adventurous, great dialogue, swoon worthy characters & scenes, everything I look for in a PR. I can't wait to read the next book!

I also want to add, ASHER *SWOON! He is 100% on my top 10 Book Boyfriends! He so damn sexy, and arrogant, and just everything I look for in my book boyfriends. I like them a bad ;)

Restraint was an awesome follow up to, Revelations and I can't wait to read book 3! This series is a spectacular Paranormal Romance with just the right amount of swoon and supernatural adventure. I highly recommend it :)

I really enjoyed this book, in fact I devoured it and could not put it down. This is the second book in the series and if you haven't read the first one, The Revelation, then stop and go back otherwise you will be lost.

Eve has to deal with the loss of her good friend and continue to learn all about the new world she is entering into, as well as figure out how she is suppose to be with Asher when it is forbidden. Restraint is the proper title for this book. Asher and Eve know how they feel about each other but Asher is using all the restraint he can until Eve is sure she wants forever with him.

There are so many things they don't know and Eve is still trying to figure out who she can trust.

Yes I will admit Eve gets on my nerves sometimes, she is whinny and stupid at times, but then again she is only 18 and so I tried to let that go.

I love Asher and all his family, even kind of Kenna. We get more Gage and pieces start to fall into place about him as well. The end of this book leaves Eve in heartbreak so hold on and get ready to jump right into book 3.

I really wanted to give this book 5 stars! I enjoyed the book, but there were a lot scenes which made me roll my eyes and speak out loud to the main character in frustration *sigh*.

A book about The Daughter Of Heaven, who has the power over the war between Heaven and Hell would make you think that that's the main plot right? Nope you're wrong. The book is 70% romance and 30% action. Even the action scenes are too short.

I will stop myself now because if I continued I will never stop ranting. Anyways, going to start book 3 and hopefully it's not disappointing.

Okay, I will admit, I got pretty upset about the request Eve made at the beginning of the book. Yet again though, I simply could not stop reading. I really want to order either a Callan or an Asher. These boys... breathing problems, heart problems, even thinking problems. I cannot wait to start with the next book.
In my opinion, characters like Asher, Callan and Keegan are the reason why no boy on Earth will ever be perfect.

For those of you that remember, I was blown away by Revelation, the first book in this trilogy, as it was a Paranormal/Romance/Fantasy book which is my favourite genre but it was something NEW! It wasn't the same story told in a different way. I was reading something new and quickly became engrossed and yes, even addicted to it. Then it finished and I was gutted. I needed more. Randi Cooley Wilson has been teasing her fans with trailers and snippets of my favourites - Asher, Eve and Gage, not forgetting the rest of the St. Michael clan.

I was so excited to receive a copy of this book but was also of the opinion that it simply wouldn't be as good as the first. There was no way that Randi would be able to sustain my interest at the level it had been for Revelation. Boy, was I wrong! Restraint is just as good, if not better, than Revelation. We see more deeply into the world of the gargoyles and understand more what Eve actually means to the rest of the 'mythological' world. Luckily for me, we see a lot more of Asher too - happy days! This book could have so easily been called Frustration because that is what I was feeling for Asher and Eve. Jeez, I want them together so badly! We see more of their relationship and their struggles as they 'try' to do the right thing. Eve isn't afraid of Asher anymore and will happily disagree with him should she feel he is wrong, but still has her own insecurities that spring up occasionally. Mind you, if Eve didn't want him, I'd be more than happy to take him off her hands. What hubby doesn't know won't hurt him ;)

The characters in this book are all fantastically well written and we get even more depth and knowledge about them. We learn that Callan loves to bake whenever he and Abby argue, we learn that Eve can take lessons from this but also can't keep a straight face when offered a cookie any more! McKenna is warming up, Keegan is still the strong silent type but emotions are coming through. Gage is still... well, Gage is still Gage. If you're going to have a triangle then at least make it a good one and this one is brilliant.

I could not put this book down and ended up staying awake far too late in the evening to finish it. *Spoiler Alert - invest in a box of tissues and preferably a large wine whilst reading this!* I have waited a few days before posting the review simply to make sure that I don't gush like a schoolgirl at her first boy-band concert. I'm not sure I've 100% succeeded but I've given it my best shot.

Absolutely fantastic second book in the series. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to all once it is released in August. Now, if only book 3 would be released like NOW!

I found myself thinking about the characters for the few days between finishing the first book in this series to purchasing the second book in The Revelation series. While I enjoyed picking up on the storyline of the now familiar characters, I did find the dynamic of the relationship between Eve and Asher, while moving forward in their eyes, starting to become a little tiring in mine. I understand there are rules of engagement between their roles as Daughter of Heaven and Protector, and that there are consequences if they break those rules -- I know there needs to be conflict, but let's move on to conflict that is not still centered on their relationship?

This series reminds me of the daytime soaps, which I used to watch years ago. In reflection, I started questioning how far did the story really progress? I had the same feeling about this book: how much further in the overarching story did we really travel? I would have to say "not much". I would like to continue on the series, but I don't want more of the same that I read in book two. I want more action and story that isn't just about Eve and Asher.

This book is all about the tension, baby! Sexual...that is!
The boundaries are being tested on all fronts for Eve, and I must say that she is more than proving challenge worthy.
Not only is Lucifer coming for her, fangs out and swords ablazin'. Things are also getting considerably *ahem* steamer on team Asher and Eve.
Things are a lot more emotional for all involved this time around with the loss of Aria, so moments of levity shared with Callan and Abby...complete with sessions of therapeutic 'baking', provide much needed smiles.
Gage makes a rather eye opening appearance this time around, and we get a much needed "glimpse behind the mask" that helps to better understand him.
There is so much to say, explain, relate, about how the story deepens and evolves in what is truly a great second book. In the interest of maintaining some shred of reviewer objectivity however, I must bite my overly eager tongue and allow you to embark upon this wondrous journey for yourself.

I expected more. I just expected so. much. more. The only reason I am even giving it 3 stars, is because the romance was hot. Besides that, the girl has zero dignity. Zilch. She doesn't know what it means.

I don't know what else to say. Every time I think she will be strong, that she will fend for herself, that she will grow a fucking vagina, she disappoints me. Even when she finally finally does something independent, it was a stupid decision that went nowhere. It only landed her poor protectors in deeper shit. She is such an idiot! I hate when girls act like a 17th century wuss. Her annoying, pitiful, helpless, selfish little "woe-is-me" act got on my nerves.

I had to force myself to keep reading... again. I don't know if I'll start the next book.

Stupid drama and too many f*** words

The storyline is one we have read a bunch of times before. The gargoyle take is new but the same drama of unrequited love we have heard before. I think the author threw in the f-words for....I don't know why...there were not any in the first book. Nothing was accomplished in this book at all. No story progression. It was super frustrating. I grew very tiresome of Eve's whining and her "heart shattering into a million pieces" over and over. Unfortunately there was a little plot twist at the end of the book, after nothing the while entire book, that makes me want to see what happens.

Hmm... This girl is def getting on my nerves now. She is weak, self centred, moody and obsessed with Asher. Her constant need to check her hormones ip around him is ridiculous. Further - could he be any more confusing with his mixed signals?? I want you.. But I can't have you... You're mine... But I can't love you.... Aargh fkk me. I can't stand female leads like this... I know there are 5 in this and so will continue on, but book3 better be better than this.

What I loved about book two in the series was that we got to know the characters a lot more. It is very easy to see why Eve struggles with her attraction to Asher. I like how we learned more about the protectors. I can't say I've read a lot of gargoyle books before but this series is making you really enjoy them as a supernatural character. The world building continues to be enjoyable. Another great read.
