Sing, gypsies, sing of your lies...

That old song plays in my head, as the world turns around me faster than it has ever turned.

Monsters and mayhem. That's become my life.

Fear and apprehension. That's become the normal for those around me.

Dread and distraction. That's what has interrupted my own personal romance story with my mon-star quad.

Vengeance and retribution. That was the theme of the monster world long before I landed in it, and it's starting to heat up more than ever.

Jabs from a complicated, ancient past keep coming so much and so quickly that I've grown desensitized to them. Which is a good thing, since I'm about to need a thick skin.

I guess it's time to see if I can handle being in the middle, because that's where I'm about to put myself. My mother always did accuse me of being a masochist. I'm starting to think she must be right.

Either they love me, or they love her.

I suppose it's time to find out who wins. I don't fight pretty, and I'm not that great at smack talk.

It's not that they're not worth fighting for. I just don't want to have to fight for them. Not when I'm fighting bigger battles already. Either we're in this together, or I'm on my own. That's for them to decide on their own.

Let the games begin.

Part of me didn't even want to write this review, because it honestly doesn't give me joy to be so negative about almost every single book in a series. But I've promised myself that I'm going to review everything I read, and of course those reviews have to be honest.

So. Here we go.

Way too much of the book revolves around Violet's stupidity and naivete. Like, the girl can't even breathe without someone going 'OMG how could you, do you not have a clue?!?!' And you know what's WORSE? It was usually the so-called heroes shaking their heads over how stupid she was. Yes, Violet is pretty dumb. She willingly gets beaten to death for a random shifter woman who refuses to tell her her secrets, which is a level of masochistic I'm generally allergic to in my heroines. But you know what? At this stage, I don't even care that Violet is a moron. I've accepted it's just her personality, and I can roll with it. But I can't tolerate that the men who are supposed to love her can't stop calling her clueless , in what's supposedly a romance.

❌ Linked to the previous point: her men are CONDESCENDING AS F*CK. Like, they never take her anger seriously, or her goals seriously. They just consistently spend all their time being arseholes who only remember Violet exists when she jumps up and down in front of their noses. They STILL see her as a pathetic little girl instead of a real person. We're 5 books into a 6-book series; it's so late in the game that I'm no longer at all invested in their relationship.

❌ Idun returns, and it's the most anticlimactic return in history. We spent the last 4 books being told how she was pure evil, and incredibly powerful, and capable of twisting the men around her little finger. NONE of that was evident in this book. Months go by (more on this in the next bullet point) where she does nothing more evil than brush her teeth. Like okay, maybe she's biding her time. But we never get a sense of power from her - if anything, the men quickly discover that she's a lot weaker than they thought she was. It makes the men, and Idun, look pretty pathetic. Harsh but true.

We get treated to one of the STUPIDEST time-jumps I've ever read. So, Violet spends five months renovating a hotel and turning it into a sanctuary for omegas. The author skips over those five months with like five sentences. We're just supposed to believe that her four men don't want to have sex with her, or even speak to her, for FIVE MONTHS. The explanation given for that is that they're too busy watching 'Idun TV' - she sets up a 24/7 CCTV channel so the men can watch her to 'make sure she's doing nothing evil.' So, Violet's so-called boyfriends spend five months watching their ex for every waking moment, to the extent they don't even talk to their supposed girlfriend. Like I said, arseholes. I'm pretty sure that this time-jump is longer than the entire time that's elapsed during the 4 previous books. It weakened the book massively.

❌ Speaking of anticlimactic returns... Anna - yes, the Anna who's supposed to have passed into final death - returns. Does Violet exhibit astonishment at this miracle? Fear? Joy? A single bloody emotion? Nope! You'd have thought Anna returned from holiday, not the bloody DEAD. I don't understand why Violet didn't demonstrate the slightest bit of curiosity over this impossibility. Anna's personality is also very watered-down compared to the earlier works. She used to be endearing. Now, she's just irritating.

The plot was a hot mess. It had everything in it but the kitchen sink. Random new plot points were introduced all the time, like Idun's necklace. What was the deal with her necklace? What's so special about it? I'll probably go to my grave wondering. The author didn't deal with all the plot points she kept introducing. If I hear Violet mentally tell herself to 'put a pin in it' ONE MORE TIME, I WILL COMMIT MURDER. At this point, it's just a sign of a book with too many plot points to do them justice. Either Violet will deal with them all in book 6 (too late) or she'll never deal with these issues; in both cases, it's bad writing.

There are way too many characters. Names are being thrown at us without explanation - who the hell are Nadine and Demetria and Avery and Caroline and Luis?!? The cast just keeps getting bigger and bigger, bulked out with totally unnecessary characters who serve no purpose.

✔️ The only positive in this book: Violet on two rare occasions discovered a backbone, and actually SPOKE OUT against the crappy behaviour she was being given. This is why I gave the book 3 stars. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to counter the fact that her 'traitorous body' kept betraying her. Side note: I am getting SUPER SUPER TIRED of authors using a heroine's 'traitorous body' to fast-forward a relationship and get around shitty heroes. . Dumb lust isn't a replacement for relationship development. I'm looking at you, Filthy Rich Boys.

I have to read the last book now, mostly because I suspect I'm falling prey to sunk-cost fallacy. But I can't believe I thought the first couple of books were pretty bad. Compared to this one and the last one, they were bloody perfect.

The book itself is lowkey a hot mess of hot alphas, funny lines, and some weird outside plot that I have no idea whether its a bunch of unfortunate events or if there is an actual goal for this series.

But damn, I am just enjoying the journey

description

The highlight of this series is *absolutely* the hilarious group dynamic of the alpha monsters.

Damien, succubus. Emit, first werewolf. Arion, original vampire. Vance,Van Hasling hunter.

So essentially all the book things I have to say about this book... it be about them

description

First! Their history together. These original monsters have been around for a longggg ass time— trapped together. They are quite literally a boyband who can never break up

No matter how much they goddamn want to. But because all their history together, it has created a bond and hilarious dynamic. I adored trying to understand their past together, and fell more in love with them every chapter.

Basically, they all share a single braincell and use it to try and win Violet’s heart

“I called this meeting, because we’re Pandora’s Box,” Arion states very randomly, eyes not leaving mine. “We’re all very fucking stupid.”

description

Secondly! The courtship. Its almost as if the author remembered that the alpha monsters were the love interests and needed to lock that shit down considering there's only ONE MORE BOOK to tie up all those loose ends.

So everything went CRAZY and BIG and DRAMATIC.

No seriously....

“He takes her spot on the bed next to Violet, as I answer the call.
“Now’s not a good time, Arion. We’re—”
“I’m putting together a fun little Monster Olympics,” Arion says with all seriousness.
I shoot an incredulous gaze to Damien, who looks as stupefied as I feel.
“Monster Olympics?” Damien mouths.
“Violet once told me she’d always wanted to be a team mascot, but she never spent enough time in a town to make friends, let alone become a part of a team,” Arion goes on. “I’ve already secured an appropriate sized stadium”
“Pinching the bridge of my nose and exhaling, I lean forward, closing my eyes, and give him my full attention.”

The previous books was more of fun sexual tension building up to creating that romance between them. This book was do or die motherfuckers

description

To perfectly honest, I gave this book another star purely for the hilarious lines and random situations that these monsters got into -- just desperately trying to keep up with Violet

“That fucking wanker.
I’m going to tear off the wanker’s wanker and give it to another wanker who wants a wee wanker.
“Who the fucking hell is he?” I ask, as Vance joins me in my thousand-feet-away-from-the-sanctuary rooftop perch, watching Violet as she sits across from the wanker, who’s going to suffer all those things I already mentioned. “And why is she smiling at him like that?”

“Who is this wanker?” I ask again. “How long has he known her?”
“Someone tell me his name so I can dispose of the body properly,” Arion says, smiling darkly at us.
Vance exhales like he really doesn’t want to waste time dealing with him.
“Kidding,” Arion finally says a little sourly as he looks back.”
“What’s his name?”
“Dead Wanker,” I say absently, just as Vance answers, “Jerome.”

I’m going to be quite frank in saying that I enjoy their bromance together more than their romance with Violet

Considering its book 5 and they still haven’t succeeded at swiping Violet off her feet. its starting to get a little desperate.

description

And for a series, this is taking slowburn to a whole goddamn new level.

description

Especially for a reverse harem in which I wanted...Well you all know *wink*

Secondary character wise. I felt like the author read previous reviews -- noting the lack of distinguished secondary characters *aside from the legendary Anna* so she cranked that shit up to 60.

Every chapter it felt like we are meeting new people that got HELLLA confusing at times. But the handfull that I actually do remember, were pretty cool additions.

“The suspicious lad from earlier hops out and runs around to open the back door for Violet. “Ms. Carmine, I hope you don’t mind if I drive instead of Anna this time. Or would it offend her?” he asks, looking around.
“Anna’s not here, you prat. Who the hell are you?” I ask as I lift Violet into the seat too quickly for anyone to notice and shut the door.
He jogs around to the driver’s door and hops in, and I take the seat behind him and next to Violet, as I narrow my eyes.
“Talbot Lane. I’m Damien’s new favorite beta.”
Damien took you on already?” Violet asks like this is the time to be genuinely interested in anyone other than herself.
“Not yet, but I’m exceedingly arrogant, so I’ve already given myself the job. Be seeing you around some then, eh, Ms. Carmine?”

And now onto my critiques.

What the actual FUCK was that time skip?

it was so stupid. and pathetic. and made no sense.

I can't believe that my biggest problem with this ROMANCE REVERSE HAREM is the goddamn romance.

description

But hear me out. The sexy fun courtship that I'm glad was *finally* established in this book was what I genuinely expected to have happened sooner... like perhaps in the four books leading up to this point. The first couple chapters ESPECIALLY WITH THAT TIME SKIP made zero sense and totally destroyed any bonds that the previous books had built up

Then suddenly the plot went into full swing with the guys desperately trying to win her back and tie her down. Why does it have to be all or nothing ALL of a sudden?

Any progress she made with ANY of them previously almost felt like a restart in this book! I mean come'on! I enjoyed the fact that she had stronger connections with some of the guys sooner while needed more time with others. But after that little STUNT they pulled, everyone was back to square number one IN THE FIFTH BOOK

Looking back, I realize where this series really kinda bugged me. I love the characters. I hate Violet's backstory. I love the alpha monster premise. I hate the info dump world-developing that also felt incomplete. The group dynamic is hilarious. What the fuck is the plot for this series?

It's this constant back and forth battle happening while I was reading, and I kept going because I saw it getting better. But dear god did I get annoyed. I will never reread this series. But I will finish it. Take that as you will.

"I really do need better boundaries.
Also, I need stronger resolve or something.
Arion's lips kiss along my throat, and they slide over mine, just barely brushing, as his gaze stays devoted to me. There's a breathless moment where he conveys so much with that lost, yet content, look.
It's the same look he gave me the first time we had sex.
As though he's found something he didn't know existed and doesn't know how to treasure it properly.
Or…I'm a romantic idiot, who is reading way too much into it.
"I'll make you my bride, Violet Carmine. And when I do, you'll love every fucking second of it. You have a month to adjust to that warning before I make it a reality. Find a way to make peace with that," he says before he practically vanishes, leaving my mind rushing after the really crazy shit he just said like it wasn't a big deal.
Emit is beside me and pulling me against him, running his lips up my neck, and cradling me to him. He nuzzles me, affectionately snuggling against me, as I continue to reel from Arion's parting words.
"He ruins all the fun when he says crazy shit," Emit says on a sigh. "But you do continuously reward bad behavior," he points out.
I blink up at him, still too stunned for words. Arion was so serious that I believe he really did threaten to force me to be his bride, and to ultimately get over it if I have any objections.
I have no idea how I feel about this, since it sounded far more endearing the last time he mentioned it. Before he gave me a deadline and made it such a reality.
"How do you feel about being my mate?" Emit asks too abruptly.
These guys…
I swear…"

Easily manipulated Pretty Monsters...

Honestly, I dragged my feet starting Gypsy Rising. I didn't want to be let down with the same old same old and left frustrated when I couldn't see the end. Now, the end is near and I'm regretting my impatience. Sure, I want parts of this story to play out and get resolved but I will miss these Pretty Monsters when they're gone. One book to go and things are starting to get really interesting and good again.

Holy Moley...I cried bucket loads in this one. I'm a wee bit of an emotional reader and this one dragged me through the wringer. I was convinced Kristy Cunning wouldn't be able to bring this story to a path where I'd be satisfied. How would she convince me that Idun wasn't controlling the puppet strings over Arion, Damien, Emit and Vance? Well, turns out she was in a very modern kind of way. But, sneaky little Violet decided to do her own controlling and manipulated things to suit her and those she cares deeply about.

Violet has always come across as a bit of a doormat but in some ways that is Violet. The characteristics of her monster bring out those tendencies more. She's also has a big heart and hates to see the vulnerable taken advantage of. Things go a little pear-shaped for Violet but as the story progresses, you realise all of these things need to happen to get to the right ending.

Loved catching up with All The Pretty Monsters and especially loved that a beloved character reappeared in all her quirky, snarky and inappropriate glory. We get a bit of "action" towards the end of the story and it was its usual sexy shenanigans that I've come to enjoy. For a "Reverse Harem," it really isn't OTT or extreme. I never feel uncomfortable, and the possessiveness is more humorous than icky.

Surprisingly, after my slight disappointment with Gypsy Moon, I really enjoyed Gypsy Rising. I can't wait for Book 6 in All The Pretty Monsters series.

I’m done with this series and this author.

Sounds harsh?

Not really when you consider I absolutely loved Four Psycho’s. It received a rare 5* from me. Three Trials was also fabulous. But Two Kingdoms was unbelievably dull and tedious. So I tapped out and quit the series.

But then I came across All The Pretty Monsters and couldn’t resist. I mean everyone deserves a second chance right?

It was okay. It had huge potential but a weak stupid main character. I was in two minds about reading this book but I figured the author must have read the reviews on the previous ones. She must have realised how annoying it is that Violet is so stupid.

But no so I’m out. This author is obviously not for me so I’m done.

So in love with this series

Not only is the mystery picking up in this paranormal RH, so is the steam! Violet is setting her plans into action and the Alphas are struggling to catch up. It’s a beautiful sight to see and one that brings the story ever closer to completion - which is promising to be epic.

Pros:
- Exceedingly well written.
- The Characters engulf you.
- Reread factor is sky high.
- You’ll spend hours contemplating theories.
- Get some answers, but even more questions are spawned.
- Makes you anxious for book 6!

Cons:
- Nothing, loves it.

Awesome

Yes. It was awesome. I just can't help feeling so proud of Violet yet again. The guys mess up really bad once Idun makes her presence known. It takes them quite a while, but they seem to figure it out this time. There's a fairly big development with Emit, too. There are even more revelations as well. That cliffhanger, though! The next book will be the last and it makes me sad, but it's a good place to end. I can't wait to see what happens.

Another great Buddy read with the cake eaters @ RHR

I’m so behind on reviews so this will be quick
This is my favourite so far after book 1. I’ve stuck with this series even though I’ve been more confused than anything else throughout it all. I thought about dropping it more than once but felt like I’ve stuck it this far, now I have to see it to the end

Violet finally grows a backbone and does some surprising things I applaud her for! She finally takes charge. That’s what makes this one worth reading! Not the appearance of a missing person who I thought I’d enjoy coming back more than I did. Violet stole the show this time - and about bloody time! This should have come in book 3/4 not book 5 with only one more to go! Violet had so many pins in things I'd be surprised if she found anything on that thing

“I still have questions, and everyone seems finished with looking for answers. Except me. I’ll find them on my own, and at least this way I don’t have to deal with any confusing circle-talk, just so everyone can dodge answering uncomfortable questions about the past,”

Baffles me how all these secrets are gonna be cleared up in one final book. But hey I’m no writer so we shall see ..

Bonus edit for your enjoyment and my own. Some of the funniest lines I've read are written in this book, I genuinely laughed out loud

“I wonder if she poops food since she talks shit.”

"That fucking wanker. I’m going to tear off the wanker’s wanker and give it to another wanker who wants a wee wanker."

"What sort of action needs to be taken on a scale of one to death?” I ask very seriously. “Death,”"

I was so sad to end this book as lame as it sounds because the next one is the final one and I’m not ready for it to end. Now that the Simpletons are freed good-doer violet takes them under her wing and even builds a flipping hotel to cater to them all. She basically creates a new system of laws and damn if she isn’t good at what she sets her mind too. Unfortunately and quite comically I might add, the guys are a bit distracted what with the return of Edyn and the reality like tv show her life provides. A distraction that leads violet to breaking up with them all, I loved every second of it because she knows just how to put them in their place. Not to mention watching them try to prove themselves to her made for a great read. Violet somehow manages to win over every supernatural being she encounters and it’s really rather funny watching people go from loathing her to loving her. All but edyn of course who hates violet like it’s a religion and our girl violet, well she could care less lol. I literally LOL’d so much with this series, and this book in particular. Perhaps it’s because our girl Anna decides to come back. I could have cried I was so happy about this development.
This book was more fun than anything for me. We saw the guys moping and shining over violet while at the same time all my girlie bits lit up like a firework watching Damien and Aryan go gaga over a little baby. Emit was lucky and his wolf required an immediate mating so now him and violet are stuck together. I’m sure the next book will have all the guys cementing their place in her life and I’m loving this ride. I’m clueless as to how the author is going to close this out but damn I can’t wait 😬😬😬😍😍

Started a bit dull, even though I am feeling extremely exciting about these characters and how it all will end.

The situation with Idun was not as intense as I expected. 🤔Less “dramatic”, and I think that’s the main reason why I found the beginning a little slow. I think the build up was great. Everyone feared her return. But when she finally appeared I didn’t get that “oh no”-feeling.

It did however, really pick up, and it got so sweet and emotional and I CANNOT figure out who I love the most.

These alphas are some twisted souls, and I ship them all. Love their banter and their “I kinda hate you, but I will still fight for you, because we are still family”-attitude. That is just so precious.

And I love even though it’s RH that they don’t have sex every 2 pages. I just really enjoy we actually get a plot. And the sexual tension is the absolute best, because it really is sexy as fuck. It’s such a good balance, because I think that makes this story so much more enjoyable. It got depth, and hot and sexy moments. To me that’s balance.

It started off too slow, but it luckily picked up the paste and the story finally started to make some sense.
Violet got some backbone and showed that she has some brain inside that head. Though we still don't exactly know what she is, some of her actions seem to hint more towards alfa, than beta or omega. It still remains to be seen.
One of the characters is back, but the return was pretty anticlimactic and as with everything else so far, still confusing as to how and why.

THIS SERIES!!! Oh god! I cant get over it. This is the 5th book of the series and i need more!! In this one we get to see how Violet protects the one she loves, she might be just an omega who doesnt know what type of monster she is but she is so damn strong. She can be naive and innocent and the guys treat her like a glass doll but she is so much more than that. I seriously love violet, she is determined, head strong and wont let the guys control her life, she calls them out on their bullshit and doesnt forgive easily. And the guys on the other hand, they want to protect her from their crazy ex who is the most powerful alpha. Ugh, so much drama, so many secrets and i was up for it. Vance, damein, emit and Arion, i mean these four guys...they have my heart. They can cross any limits for violet and her happiness where on the other hand Violet can die protecting them even tho they are the alphas. Their relationship is so unique and I literally lovee all the characters from this book..except Idun who is the crazy ex. She is annoying af and keeps provoking violet but violet wont let idun be her problem cuz its alpha business, she just wants to protect the omega’s who really dont matter in their monster world but violet feels their pain and wants to make a safe place for them, the guys are the alphas and they help her.

This book is a mixture of suspense, romance and creepiness. So much mystery and the secret about Violet keeps dragging but it really didnt bother me cuz at the same time, other secrets reveal and my brain is gonna explode now cuz its just the 5th book and so much happend, one more book left which is the last one where all the secrets will reveal and i am not ready. Its too much to handle but i cant stop cuz its so fucking addicting. Its such an interesting book, so different and original. I never read something like this book and I LOVE IT!

Summary of the story:

Violet is a gypsy who really doesnt know about her power and the monster inside her but after her mom dies she takes over her shop in a town where she meets Vance who is a Van Hesling, Damein who is a sex defiant/ illusionist, Emit who is the Wolf and Arion who is the vampire. They are all cursed because of the mistake they did centuries ago and they are all immortals. These guys once used to be friends and loved the same women who betrayed them and years after , now they cant stand each other because of the things they faced during that time but they are intrigued by the Gypsy who doesnt know anything about the monster world and together they find answers.

Synopsis

Violet - January - Portocale is a witch with a hidden secrets that comes to live in a town with more hidden secrets. She meets four dashing Paranormal Gypsies descended from a Van Helsings, a Vampire, a WereWolf, and a Succubus. These four were a decade ago connected to a Simpleton Gypsy, Idun, who is so powerful and cruel that she molded herself to be the dream woman of each one and lured them to sacrifice something precious to gain immortality. These five immortals were cursed by the Portocale Gypsies to suffer unimaginable torment whenever a Portocale Gypsy dies. Violet was able to break the curse and slowly slowly gained the trust of the four monsters only for them to realize that she is a monster herself, a unique one.
Violet is outraged to find that in order to put Idun underground, her Simpleton innocent clan had to be put out with her. Vi sets out to free these Simpletons and creats a Sanctuary for the weaker Omegas of every Gypsy Clan. While doing that, they discover that Idun has already gotten out and is planning something

The Slow Burn

This is the slowest slow-burn series I have ever read and I love it
The relationship between Violet and her men was not immediate. We were not hit with the rushed lust or the sudden realization that they are fated for each other.
Many secrets had to be revealed, their characters had to show for them to come together
I mean yes there was some sex, but not once they showed any indication of like/love feelings for each other until this book
and when the "I love you" hit, it was the most beautiful thing
“If I hadn’t fallen in love with you that first day you spotted me, as Vance drugged you and painted your toes, I would have fallen for you the day you threw yourself at my feet and freely gave me your throat—without one ounce of regard to the personal cost to yourself—to break a curse that has tormented me for centuries,”

Violet's character

If you read the previous books or read some of the reviews, Violet appears to be this naive, clumsy, weak female who is helpless and always waits for someone to rescue her. But as we go into the series and more secrets are surfacing, Violet is anything but.
for one, she is an Empath, which means she has a strong sense of others' feelings and stress. I do not consider this a weakness at all.
She is unpredictable. Like the men come to realize, you cannot expect what she will do next, she can get herself out of trouble in her own way.
She is smart and resourceful. She knew that the men would stand in her way if she confronted Eden so she made use of their preoccupied state and the fact that they thought her naive to design a set of rules and make them sign it.
“I built this place, because not even you would listen to a voice weaker than an alpha’s. You’re all hardened, and I understand why. I don’t even judge you for it, despite appearances,” Violet says as she pushes open her door. Her eyes flick back to mine as she steps out on her good leg. “So that means I have to step up if I want someone to care about everyone who will die. If Idun claims even one life from sanctuary, no one will ever have faith in it. And all you care about is what she may do to all of you and me. To hell with everyone else.”

She also got familiar with all the laws concerning Alphas and was able to outsmart Eden to save an Omega's life.

"I’m January Violet Carmine, and I’m as resilient as a Neopry Simpleton and as stubborn as a Portocale. I’m just getting started. I’m young and naïve, so I have plenty of fight left in me. I was born to be your fucking punching bag.” “I was born to stand in your way, just because I fucking can. And now everyone’s going to know that you’re not my problem. But I just became the only problem you’re allowed to have, because you, the big, scary, all-powerful alpha can’t even make me scream while I’m still just a pup.”

In the end, she was able to wrap the four fearsome monsters and their families and clans around her fingers.
“Don’t you fuckers dare start a war after watching Idun TV for five months. You owe me this,”
Emit chose her willingly as his mate
Arion wants her as his Bride
Damien is set to make her his Flame
and Vanse is buying a ring to propose
something none has done with Eden

“If you want me on my knees, I’ll happily get on them for you right now. But what I want is that surrender. I’m already your monster. I want you to be mine in return.”

So No, Violet is not naive. she is empathic and kind-hearted who knew how to use that to her advantage
“I hate that little monster is even right about that. Can we not tell her we’re huge idiots anymore? The damn girl is too young to be right so much,” he adds on a frustrated breath.

the refrences

the mix between urban legends and mythological creatures was very well done.
So you have Pandora and Succubus from Greek mythology
and Vampires, werewolves and monster-hunters from legends aaaand Dorian Grey!!
“The metaphorical and literal box was smashed, unable to seal Pandora’s Box ever again. Hope was released into all of us—Pandora’s way of balancing the scales in an attempt to keep us as human as possible,”

and what is Violet? She is Frankenstein. A man-made monster with superhuman powers but a kind heart who only wants to be accepted and loved. She is Hope that would bring all these monsters together rather than tear them apart.

Idun

She is the devil, the temptation, the evil whisperer. She is all of the seven sins. Her name is close to the EDEN like the paradise satan was kicked out from. She is the history that never learns from her mistakes and is bound to make them again and again.

Final note, I promise
Did this series have to be six books? Maybe not. Four or Five would have been enough. Did it need to be six books? Yes it did. Each book was a step and a revelation that brought us closer and closer to the end. So my advice is read this at it is. A six-book slow burn that is best enjoyed at the end.

This series is so weird because I’m five books in and can barely tell you anything that has happened in any of them. I’ve been passively listening to the audio for the last week and think it’s the only way I’ve been able to get through them.

Idk what the hell is going on, and some of the characters are grating on my patience at this point. They appear in random places for poorly identified reasons and get attacked just because. I don’t get it!

It’s sad that I’m not going to finish the series when there is only one book left but I’m convinced that I won’t understand it anyway.

jfkdsakjflajsldfjdlsaf why end it like that? hot damn.

Gypsy Rising was so freaking good! Violet has been underestimated by everyone. So I was intrigued once more by her after Idun came back. It definitely sucked that she was kind of getting pushed under the rug by her four freaking boyfriends. Ugh, guys are clueless.

Violet is a bad ass in this book. I didn't think she could become more lovable but she totally did and I enjoyed it all. She definitely made the guys rethink about everything. Especially since those little shitheads did nothing for 5 months straight. I get that they were obsessed over their ex and thought she would do something to Violet.. but damn - they didn't even think about poor Violet.

She definitely put them in their place and I think they might need to grovel more. Luckily for me, she hasn't forgiven them all just yet but I'm sure things will really heat up once she does. Which I can't wait for. I seriously want them all together just to see what will happen! Ugh, the ending - damn cliffhangers - but I'm slightly freaking out with how this one ended.

Need the next book now!

The last few in this series have been a let down. Violet has been a spastic doormat who’s OTT gullible. She’s let the Hero’s repeatedly talk down to her and dismiss her. The hero’s...well, they’ve been assholes who’ve boarded on crossing lines that would make them completely undeserving of redemption.

This book, though showed a stronger, manipulative, Violet who finally stood her ground and kicked the boys to the curb when they kept placing her in last place. It was a nice change. Violet not only proved her strength to the Hero’s but also her loyalty to the Simpletons. She stood up for them when their own leaders wouldnt while exposing the Alphas compliancy.

The story progressed and it was nice to see some full and complete commitment from the guys. Surprisingly it was the most resistant to give in first and take the relationship to a whole new level. We finally meet Idun and it was also great to see them take a stance against her while standing for Violet.

Don’t get me wrong though, while it was nice to see a stronger Violet she def has plenty of WTF are you thinking moments and the guys till had their complete asshole times. They still played off Violets issues with them as a “she’s young and doesn’t understand” thing BUT I do believe that their view is changing of her...especially her rank and status. They still dismissed her when she put her foot down BUT this time Violet didn’t immediately give in. She did make them see the error in their ways. Of course though we’re dealing with four incredibly pushy alphas who, even while recognizing their mistakes, still don’t take no for an answer. Love them or hate them they are how they are and Violet is who she is. While showing growth KC still kept them true to their characters....

“Even though it’s a little insulting, I’m okay with the fact you put a pin in me, so to speak, in order to learn what you could, since it’s a rare opportunity,” I go on, sounding as reasonable as I can. My eyes narrow, even as the ire tries to give way to emotion. “I put a pin in you too....”

“I don’t have time for four guys who don’t make time for me. Four boyfriends and not one ounce of romance to break up all the hard work I’ve been doing, while you guys watch Idun. Salt on the wound by now. My time’s important too.”

“I’m January Violet Carmine. I’m half Neopry. Half Portocale. I’m all gypsy with all my gypsy pride. And I’m the only person in the room who can say that last part. I’m here to remind you of just how far you’ve all fallen.”

“She claims she was making a statement. However, Violet didn’t step in there to prove any sort of point. I believe she stepped in there to find out just how fucking tough Idun really is. She was testing Idun to see how close she is to being able to take her.”

“It’s the only way I can make Violet understand I’m choosing her. I’ll grovel for Violet in a way I’d never do for Idun.”

“She’s not wrong for being pissed. She’s just insane if she thinks we’ll give up so easily.”

“You do a lot for everyone, Violet. We know we’re special to you, but you fail to see how very much more we care for you. You’d never question us again if you’d been around long enough to know us before you,”

Violet you clever little monster

Jesus this book was freaking good, and let me tell you I've had a love hate relationship with the whole book series and was ready to just give up. This book was my absolute favorite, we get a strong violet I've been dying for and some bad sexy alphas who finally come around to realizing how stupid they've been. I don't know where to even start but I want to point out I'm super impressed on how far violet has come, the little schemer! Talk about she had us all fooled! She is oh so freaking good!. And the guys, (rawr) talk about freaking yummy! about time we get us some RH deliciousness we've waited so painfully for. ugh I could not put this book down, it was that amazing! I'm so freaking excited for the next book! Please don't keep us waiting, I have a feeling s**** about to really get ugly and hit the fan, and it's going to be glorious!

Still a great story!

While this book was not my favorite so far, it was still a great story! We finally got to meet Idun and, yep, I didn't like her one bit. The guys all messed up when she finally made her appearance, as predicted, but so far I think they've managed to redeem themselves.

I can't wait to see what happens in the final book. I think Violet's been hiding how truly strong her monster is, when from her mother. So I hope she puts Idun down. Hey if she can bring back Anna hopefully she can cause s true death.

More like a 3.25 star cause I find Idun to be...lacking. Such an anticlimactic introduction to her. At least in this book I now know how the men truly feel about the lovely Violet and we have our friendly Anna back! So. Yay!

“Given the story, and how severely the Portocale Council hated all of you before this even escalated, I’ve stitched things together. It’s the only way to get answers, since no one here wants to come out and say the whole truth all at once. It’s given in small, confusing, somewhat convoluted fragments, leaving me to search through the wreckage of information for the important pieces.”

I looked at my phone. Again. The screen showed April 14th, 2019 and it did so the other two times I looked at it in the past hour.

I was sitting in the Blue Room on the second floor, reading a book that I am sure was an April Fools joke. I mean how could it not be?!?

My conviction only grew stronger by the time I finished it. April Fool's. Yeap. At that moment, the new PA system Bob's friend installed announced "Gypsy Rising has been released. A Room has been established". Hmm.. Should I? Oh who am I kidding, of course I would.

I made my way down to the lobby and following the directions I arrived in the room expecting something only to be greeted by absolutely nothing. There was noone in the room. I backed up a couple steps to the corridor and checked that I was in the right place. Yeap, in the right place. Hmm.. Trap? Nah, no glitter or Dust.

I left a GIF to commemorate the book and went to get my copy. As I was aimlessly browsing, cause of course I would, I got two Nots. Typically they will gently float in front of me somewhere but lately they have been appearing on my face, like Post-It notes. I am suspecting Bob has something to do with this. As both Nots appeared right on my eyes I crushed head first into a display. Thank fuck I wasn't walking fast or walking at all for that matter.

I took them off and sighed. First one was from Rhiannon: "Haha! That GIF is on point! I'm going to start this after I finish Book X". Hmm ok. The second one was from Gaby, which I expected: "Ouu I agree with Rhia! I will start this after Book X as well!".

I thought it couldn't be a trap but I am rethinking that right now. Or maybe I was transported into an alternate reality? How is it possible that I was the first to the room and the first one to read and be done with it? Alternate reality. Has to be. At that moment my phone rang, the screen display saying "Bob". Nope, no alternate reality. Although I am 1000% sure Bob will appear wherever I am.

Picking up with yet another deep sigh I say "Hey Bob. What's —"

"The shrimp lady said that I am not to allow people into Building X. How am I supposed to clean it if I am not allowed inside? Also one of the basement rooms exploded. It wasn't my fault this time."

Oh dear. "When Shrimpy said "No visitors" she meant everyone that doesn't work for the Asylum is not allowed in. You work in the Asylum. Which room & how?"

I listen as he rattles on about Fart bombs and time travel.

"Bob. Bob. BOB! Hey. I get it, I don't need that much detail. Just seal the room and call Burt and his crew, they will take care of everything. Ok? And Bob, do not, I repeat DO NOT, piss off Shrimpy."

"Ok I will call Burt and I make no promises."

"Bob —" but it was too late as he had hung up already. I pinch the bridge of my nose and wait for him to call me back. It doesn't take long. I pick up again and hear a lot of loud voices and then Bob screaming "IT WAS JUST PEASANTS". I honestly don't want to know. But I will. I sigh.

Bob seems to realise I have picked up the phone so he turns his very short spanned attention back to me. "I need you to go buy me duct tape. One black and one whatever colour you find. I am not allowed in the store, still. Also I picked up your book. I like Anna. I wonder if she is available. That is the woman for me"

"Do I want to know why you want duct tape when I bought you a whole box two days ago? And what the hell do you mean 'my book'?"

"No. No you don't. You can ask Tybalt though. He knows. I don't mean 'yours' yours, just that I picked up the series. That shrimp lady is not happy with me for that. I liked Anna. A lot. Everything else is stupid. Oh shit. Are you mad?"

"Why does Tybalt know? You know what, never mind. Did you rub it under her nose again? You know she is allergic to Romance. Don't agitate her. Please. And of course you would like Anna. Not everything is stupid but a good portion is. Why would I be mad?"

"No I didn't rub it under her nose but I did leave some pages laying around for her to find. Hehe. Anna is awesome, like you. But I sense something is different about her although I don't know what. Well you finished the new book right? Noone has seen or heard from you since. I thought you might have gone on a murderous rampage or something. I have had my favourite bucket and mop ready to go!"

I laugh, I can't help it. He is just so adorable at times. "No more of that pages shenanigans from now on ok? That shit is for winter only!". That is the only time we can get away with that shit. I smile to myself and continue with dry sarcasm in my voice " Gee you think? Don't answer that." I say when I hear him try to answer. "Aww that is so sweet but I don't need it. I am sick that is why I'm not around much. The book didn't anger me as much as one would expect. I have kind of given up on this by this point. It did manage to annoy me. I mean with the whole —"

"Yeah..That is great. Sorry, got to go! Gaby is here for our Nerf Guns full of strawberry jam War! Toodles! Muha!"

"WHAT?! Bob No!" but again he had already hung up. Before I could call anyone my phone chimed with a text from Gaby: "Heya Mars! Want to come by the Asylum? I've missed you! ♥♥". Before I had a second to think about how obvious trap is obvious, my phone chimed again, Tybalt's name on the message this time telling me that he is at the Asylum and to meet him there for coffee, adding that he didn't know how many things you could do with duct tape.

I shook my head and got to thinking why would Bob think I would go on a murderous rampage cause of this book. I mean, everyone knows I have given up on this already.

The pace is idiotic and the characters aren't any better. I have to admit that this wasn't as confusing as the previous ones but it still feels like pulling teeth with the whole series. I have figured out most of the plot but still I can't see where this is going.

To be honest I am not sure if I want to know where it will end up. Having any kind of hope will not work in my favour on this. I wonder when the last one will be out?

Another sigh escapes me as I start back to the Cake Cult's House. I am curious to see if anyone has read it yet or not and what they thought. Besides I have to avoid the Asylum at all costs for the upcoming week! 😂

In the last book, Violet raised the Simpletons from the dead and was anticipating a battle with Idun except she has run off to do who knows what. So Violet brings all the Simpletons back to Shady Grove and starts renovating an old hotel to house them. Idun also relocates to Shady Grove and starts her own reality TV show to "be more transparent" so the guys can keep an eye on her. The guys do just that - they are glued to the TV for the entire 5 months it takes Violet to complete her renovations and create a sanctuary for not only the Simpletons but any omega that is in need. When she is finished, she

It's been a while since I've read about Violet and her harem. I was happy to pick up where I left off. Oh, and Anna comes back! She's not quite as hilarious as she was previously, but I love her all the same. This book had the guys acting like asses throughout and Violet finally standing up for herself in more ways than one. I like how she is cleverly manipulating things in her favor. I can't wait to see how things play out. I'm definitely picking up the next one ASAP.

I'm not even going to waste anyone's time with my rambling. Here's some of my favorite scenes…

"What about the hotel, Violet?" Vance asks with a little impatience.
"If you're not going to do anything with it, I was wondering if I could buy it from you."
Another round of blinks.
"If you want the hotel you can have it. I was going to use it as a neutral location, but never got around to it," he tells her.
"It'll still be neutral. Promise. But I have to buy it. I'd feel indebted to you otherwise. And I know the fair cost based on Tiara's research-"
"You don't sound drunk," Vance notes.
"I'm not drunk. I haven't had a drink."
Now I want to watch those videos again with that new knowledge, because no one can be that shamelessly ridiculous while sober.
"Can I buy it from you or is it too important?" she goes on.
"It's not too important, but I don't want your money. You won't have enough for a fair offer, simply due to the location."
"Sounds interesting," I butt in. "Know what else is interesting?"
I dramatically gesture to the pregnant debacle we still have on our hands.
He sighs harshly.
"I have the money. I have enough enough in my bank account for that, and I won't even have to dig any up," she tells him, causing me to shake my head, as I stare up at the ceiling.
Priorities are a bit fickle these days, because I thought she was struggling with her finances just a few months ago. This girl…
Vance essentially says around what I'm thinking. "When you first came to town, you couldn't even hire a delivery person. Now you suddenly have enough money to-"
"The money is/was my late grandmother's money, so I've been saving it. She was loaded because she invented some sort of really popular toothbrush design, so I have plenty of money. You don't just sink a ton of money into a new business. You work it up until it's paying for itself so it doesn't become a financial drain."
Vance opens his mouth, then closes it, and then opens it again.
"That's why you made toothpaste," he says like he's solved a very important puzzle.
"It definitely gave me the idea," she states as the music in the background gets louder for a second, before dulling again, as though someone has left or entered the room she's in.
"Whenever someone asks you about it, you always say how you came to make toothpaste isn't an interesting story," he argues.
"Took five seconds for you to figure it out on your own from one sentence. I don't think that constitutes it as being very interesting," she deadpans. "Can I buy the hotel for my new tribe?"
Vance releases a breath, as he continues to stare at the downed shifter.
"You can't keep them, Violet," he tells her gently. "They belong to Idun, and she'll have it no other way."
"I've got all that covered. Can I buy it or not?"
"Of course you can buy it. I want to give it to you. But you can't-"
"Mary is going to send over the formal paperwork via email and get a date set for the closing. Thank you," she says sweetly. "And be careful while hunting Idun."
She hangs up after that, and Vance stares down at his phone.
"This day just keeps getting worse. Violet's already too attached to them," he groans.
"We'll deal with that later. What about the pregnant shifter who knows too damn much?" I ask him, my patience fraying.
He pauses like a thought has just occurred to him. "You always carry around a portrait of Idun in your pocket?"
Un-fucking-believable. He's so distracted and unfocused that his mind can't stay trained on the problem at hand.
"I carry around a portrait of the necklace. Did you not hear me when I said how hard it was to even get the stone's impossibly-hard-to-recreate-details that close? And the portrait is damage-proof to withstand time, so it's not as though I could hack her face off like a lovesick pup after a hard break."
His phone rings again, while the woman on the floor remains unattended.
"Violet?" he asks into the phone, turning his back on me again.
"Yeah, me again. Sorry. But this time I do need an actual favor, since you're the pilot with all the girl-named planes. I sort of need to get a lot of people oversees. Is it okay if I call your hangar and work something out?"
"Idun will nest in Shadow Hills, so it's not like they won't be coming over anyway," I remind him, since he wanted to argue this earlier.
"Yes. Of course," he tells her all too easily, despite his earlier objections. "Pay me in apples for that one."
I'm starting to think he can't deny her directly. The prideful Van Helsing is fucking whipped. I'll mock him for it later, and settle for grinning about it now
"I'm going to need to save my apples for now, but I have something you'll appreciate."
"If it's lacy and black I'm in for that one as well. Dibs on the Devil's three-way this time, I tell him very seriously.
He gestures to the pregnant shifter's belly, giving me a silencing look.
"It's not like it knows what I'm saying," I dutifully inform him.
And I thought Emit was stupid.
Vance pinches the bridge of his nose briefly, something he does when someone is irritating him, before returning his attention to the phone call.

~

"If you don't stop laughing-"
Anna brays like a donkey with her next bout of laughter, as though my demand for her to quit mocking me right now is only fueling her hysterics.
"Y-y-you're walking funny a-a-after fucking like a champion during a three-day sex-a-thon, and you expect me to resist having a commentary?" Anna asks me through her guffaws, quite literally rolling on the ground, as she zaps from place to place in front of my uneven strides.
I glare at her, as she slaps at the ground, her hand passing through, as she feigns wiping tears from her eyes.
"It hurts when my thighs touch!" I hiss, idly wondering if my vagina will ever heal.
"I'm so proud of you," she says, clapping for me, as I waddle by her on my way to the front door.
Just my touch ignites Mom's magic, and the doors open.
Sighing in frustration, I try to walk as normal as I possibly can, wearing nothing but the curtain cape, and…come to an abrupt halt when everyone in the lobby stops to stare at me.
Looks like we have some newbies, because I don't know all the faces.
A few tremble and drop to their knees, while Shera approaches with a glare and a wrinkled nose.
"You disappear for three days and return smelling like foul wolf sex? Seriously?!" she snaps, punching the bridge of her nose. "Omegas have been lining up to join Sanctuary, and you've been off getting laid?" she adds on an irritable growl.
Speaking of omegas…
Leiza's eyes widen, and she drops to the ground, abruptly bowing before me. Lemon, Mary, and Tiara all have the same fast reaction.
"Why are they bowing at your feet?" Shera asks more seriously.
I bristle not liking where this looks like it's heading. Those scars on my back don't look like they're going to be healing, regardless of the healing potions I've used on them. I weirdly don't mind the scars, but…what do they really mean?
"I have a lot of questions," I tell the omegas, who give small, short nods, not speaking, as they remain bowed on the ground.
I notice a few others quickly dropping and bowing to me as well, though they do so with terrified trembles.
"This is neat. Do those scars make you royalty or something? They can't even see them," Anna states from atop a banister near us.
"After I shower, I'll see the four of you. Find Ingrid. I want her there too. And make sure the new wolves who've claimed sanctuary aren't afraid of me, regardless of whatever in the hell has happened," I add.
Leiza clears her throat. "As you wish."
"Oooooh, she said that like you're royalty!" Anna gushes.
"What have you done now, Violet?" Shera asks in a worried tone. "All I smell is a lot of werewolf sex. Have you even showered?"
"Not in three days. Emit wouldn't let her out of his dastardly clutches," Anna supplies on a wistful, romantic sigh.
"I could use a-"
A very pretty red cocktail is thrust in front of me by an omega I've yet to formally meet, and her hand trembles as she waits on me to accept it.
"Thank you," I tell her with a smile.
She nods, eyes wider than they already were, and darts off without another word.
Shera shakes her head like the distraction is too annoying to deal with, and she hands the iPad to me. "I have so many things for you to look over and sign, and -hey! Where do you think you're going?" she shouts as I start walking off.
"To take a long, cleansing shower, so people will hopefully stop being weird around me," I answer without looking back, waddling my way up the stairs.
When I whimper, Anna snorts out a laugh.
"I hate you," I inform her.
"Only because I love your pain," she volleys.

~

My head is killing me. Arion is fussing over a damn shifter baby he has strapped to his chest, which only makes my headache worse. There's no more disturbing sight than seeing Arion play father to a shifter child.
Our world used to make more sense than it does.
How does one fucking woman change so much?
The child wails like he's just woken up in a den full of alpha monsters, who are natural predators of his race, due to years of evolving wars and hereditary senses.
It's a nightmare to deal with the fallouts of our own prejudices mixed with magical DNA.
"Why on earth did you think it'd be a good idea to bring a helpless infant into a circle of alphas?" I snap.
Emit groans as he devours yet another hamburger from one of the twenty bags he has.
Arion's head falls back, and I can't help but find it amusing that this psychotic son of a bitch is working so hard to keep his temper and frustration levels in check. His eyes haven't even turned black yet.
Must be a nightmare for a bloodthirsty, murderous fiend such as himself.
I derive a lot of joy from that. Enough to make the headache bearable.
With his brow still drawn down in concentration, Damien says, "I'm still stuck on the part where he's an impossible mix of vampire and a shift-"
"I'll believe anything at this point," Emit interrupts, working on his next burger. "Was this pointless meeting about the kid? If so, I need to get back to Violet. I want to share a bed with her for something other than sex, so that she doesn't misread my intentions. The omegas have filled her in by now, and I want to see what she has to say about it. Hopefully they've sold her on it, because they're damn good at silver linings and romanticism."
"Cheater," Damien mutters.
"Says the prick who tasked his desperate beta-prospect to get you laid," Emit volleys.
"I thought I was making progress all in my own, before you assholes got jealous and interrupted our moment," Damien adds on a bitter note.
Rolling my eyes, I pop more of the useless pills. My headache is growing mire tedious by the second.
"Jasper isn't the reason I'm here," Arion says in distraction, as he reads something off his phone. To himself, he mutters, "Pacifier. Pacifier. What the bloody hell is a pacifier?"
Damien leans over, lifting the oddly shaped thing, and plugs it into the intimidated babe's mouth. The child isn't going to stop that wailing when he's stuck in a room with alphas that painfully enlist his instincts to-
The crying ceases immediately, and the intriguing young thing actually stares up at Arion with wide, fearless eyes now that he's been left content.
The wee lad got what he wanted.
"She's spoiled the little crier. He apparently screams until you do what he says, and he hasn't even learned to speak yet," Emit states in observation.
My headache only marginally eases.
I'm not sure why we're all staring at the baby like it's going to burst into flames or something.
"It's scary having this sort of responsibility. Anything at all-big or small-happens to that baby on our watch, and Violet will definitely be angry for many, many centuries, depending on the severity of the infraction," Damien points out. "Take it back. It's too much trouble."
"The vampire is more nurturing than the fucking Morpheous. Why do I bother trying to make sense of things anymore? I think that's the reason for the increasingly frequent migraines," I confess on a tired sigh.
I massage my temples to punctuate the point, suppressing a groan.
"Fuck's sake, Arion. Get him out of that contraption," Emit growls as he goes to unstrap Jasper from the weird chest strappings. "Babies need connection when they're held."
The small lad almost disappears into the massive trunks Emit calls arms.
"The kid is going to suffocate between those rock walls you're so proud of," Damien gripes, as he goes to snatch the baby away, showing far more knowledge of proper care than any of us should know.
He even goes so far as to rattle off a few instructions about head, neck, and body support.
It's a little eerie to find Arion's eyes on me when I glance away from the weird sight of Emit and Damien arguing about who knows more about kids.

~

I hate him for doing this to me, but he already knows I love him. So I don't actually hate him at all, because…
My head is entirely too fucked up, and I need to stop thinking.
"Arion, we're going to need the alpha vampire for this problem, if you're quite finished being a selfish son of a bitch with our girlfriend," Damien calls out, apparently forgetting we're still broken up.
I really do need better boundaries.
These guys…
I swear…

Violet puts on her boss-pants in this one 💪
Her monster-squad focuses way too much on their ex, and even though it annoys and hurts Violet, she uses their distraction to her advantage. Clever, clever girl.

It’s freaky, a bit weird, and intriguing with all the unexpected twists 👍

I’ve been struggling to write this review for a couple of days because I feel so ambivalent about this book. I remember how intrigued I was when I started this series, but I’ve slowly lost interest along the way. I think if I wasn’t so close to the end I’d probably quit.

Everyone quickly returns home, including Idun, at the start of the book. Violet buys an old hotel that she wants to renovate for the Neoprys. Idun starts her own reality tv show supposedly so that everyone can see she’s harmless now. The guys become obsessed with watching it and ignore Violet. Eventually she decides she’s had enough and breaks up with them. The guys have never been good at respecting boundaries though and they ignore her decision. Of course Idun is not really as innocent as she’s pretending to be so she causes some trouble. Other stuff happens that doesn’t make much sense and the book ends on a sort of cliffhanger as usual.

I keep repeating the same thing in every review. The plotline is a confusing, rambling mess. I was hoping that since this is the next to last book that it would be a little more straight forward. Unfortunately that’s not the case. Anna pops back up with zero explanation. A couple of new characters are introduced. Established characters are ignored, and old plotlines are still unresolved. Worst of all, the book is kind of boring. Violet spends five months and over a third of the book renovating the hotel while the guys ignore her.

Idun’s appearance is incredibly anti-climactic. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised by that. She’s always been described as an egotistical attention whore. She’s basically a bully and a mean girl with supernatural powers so it makes sense that she would want to film herself. My mistake for thinking she would be a big bad villain since everyone was so worried about her. Then she conveniently disappears for a little while so that we can move on to another random plot development that seems to exist solely as an excuse to write a sex scene.

Speaking of the guys, they were terrible. I hate that they don’t respect Violet and her wishes. They ignore her, then when she breaks up with them they ignore that as well. They think she’s an idiot. They stalk her and refuse to take no for an answer. I don’t like any of them right now. I’m also upset that Violet keeps rewarding their bad behavior and secretly finds it attractive. There’s nothing healthy about this relationship.

As for the five month time jump, it was completely ridiculous and unbelievable. I think it was just a convenient plot device to set up a twist that I’m not at all happy about.

On the plus side these are fast easy reads. There are amusing moments, and I still think the premise is unique and intriguing. After this many books I want to know how things end even though I have very little hope that I’ll be happy with the resolution. As frustrated as I am I keep reading which is the main reason this book gets an average rating.

There's still so many things that remain unknown, in this weirdly addicting series. The only thing that's certain is, that I still have absolutely no clue exactly what kind of monster Violet is harbouring within. It becomes even more confusing when there's no way to tell, whether she's alpha, beta, omega - or something completely different. In other words this Neopry Simpleton Portocale gypsy is giving me an headache, from trying to figure her out!! It's finally become time to meet the notorious Idun, and the conniving woman does not disappoint. While this evil supreme alpha bitch is busy scheming, Violet's monstar quad falls for her games. The only one who seems to be able to see through them, is Violet, but the sweet gypsy is no longer as sweet as she once was. Much like her apples, she seems to pack a bitter punch in this book.

Violet does grow a backbone in this book, I'm not entirely sure what the point of it is. Aside from manipulating her quad, Idun's house and all the other alphas... and to be honest, I just don't know how I feel about that. Violet still put others before herself, but it's getting harder to workout if it's part of her monster, or if it's part of her "apple and oranges" personality. While Violet keeps repeating that Idun is not her problem, there's no longer any doubt that she is Idun's problem. A problem she needs to work hard to get rid of. And now that the guys have bonded even more, and decided to let old resentment and secrets be, the quad is starting to look very unbreakable.

Okay, so this is not my favourite of the books in the series - but it's still such an enjoyable and entertaining read. It speaks volumes that an author can keep readers on their toes, while still keeping so many things a secret. As this author doesn't like to promise when she releases her books, I have no idea when the sixth book will be out. But I know I'll be waiting (im)patiently!!
