The Dark God Rises #2

The Crimson Lord

Rate this book
War strides across the land, and ancient gods pull the threads of destiny…

Brand has passed through sorcery and battle, surviving everything his enemies have sent against him. So far. But each time he discovers an enemy, he finds only another, and a greater, behind them.

Now, his enemies number not just Unferth the Usurper nor Horta the Magician, but also ancient gods that once walked the world. And they dream of bending it to their will again.

He learns that the Trickster, one of the greatest of the old gods, has set a trap for him. But he can spare little time to think on that, for a more obvious danger is coming. War. And the outcome will decide not just his own destiny but that of the realm. Unless the Trickster kills him first…

I am a man born in the wrong era. My heart yearns for faraway places and even further afield times. Tolkien had me at the beginning of The Hobbit when he said, ". . . one morning long ago in the quiet of the world . . ."

I love to read high fantasy and epic fantasy novels, and I have a passion to write, to weave a story with words that draws the reader into another world.

So very good...and so short

I really love this author’s books. Similar to “The Lord of the Rings” and full of heroes. I can’t believe it ended so soon. Cannot wait for the next one!

One fight ends another is beginning.

Another great delivery from R. Ryan. Book #2 sees Brand at the end of a long quest. Maybe not by his own hand. But for know he has united both sides for the time being, for the a new war is coming from a people no one has heard of. An the God's are not far behind.

Short - in fact, books one and two could really be one book, to be honest. Both are short, and would go so well together. It's enjoyable, and well written, and the storyline is still continuing, with an epilogue giving a taste of things to come, and I'll be continuing on with this series to see what else the author has in store xx

Book 2 of Dark God Rises

This book continued as well as the the other ended. Brand faces a tough task of taking back his rightful place. This story has twist to it that was very interesting. Look forward to finishing this series. Robert Ryan is a very good author and thoroughly enjoy his books.

Great Read

I really enjoyed this book, the pace was fast and exciting. The lead character is strong but not in an overwhelming way but is not portrayed as a weak person. He is a good hero good morally which I really like.

Fascinating read

The story continues with the 2 warring nations, and the plans for the return of the old gods. The book builds on the characters and introduces new ones, as it builds to its completion with all the twists and turns you need.

A continuation of the story of Brand. Must read the first one in the series for this one to really make sense. IF you liked the first then continue it.

Excellent work

A very good job of the second in the series. Can't wait to get to the end. Brand has won over Unferth. Now to the conclusion of this epic.

Enjoyable fantasy novel

For those who love the fantasy genre, this book is above average. Interesting plot and decent action. A little too predictable but enjoyable nevertheless.

Another excellent story

Noblebright... those words strike a chord in me. I have always enjoyed that style of story above the grim dark. If you have read any of Robert Ryan's books my suggestion is do so. They are excellent.
