The Border: A Post-Canadian Anthology

Rate this book
What makes Canadians different from Americans? Or a dead soul from a living one? Does Canada really exist? Is there life before sixty? These and other bemusing questions are the subject of Kevin Annett's sixteenth book, The Border: A Post-Canadian Anthology.Drawing on his popular skills as a wry raconteur, public satirist, wandering spiritual journeyman and whistle-blowing Enemy of Church and State, Kevin Annett delivers once again with an entertaining and inspirational selection from his speeches, sermons, writings and musings gathered over a lifetime.Imbued with what he calls "the gift of the Exile", Kevin draws on his own heartfelt remembrances from times of tragedy and victory to remind us "that the human heart is a complete sacrament". Will humanity, and Canadians in particular, accept the cost of their own freedom and learn to live elsewhere than in someone else's mind?"Kevin carries on the torch passed by Tom Paine, William Lyon MacKenzie, Studs Terkel and Kev's own fire-spitting rebel ancestors. The Border is a delight to read and chew on! A must for all true Free Thinkers and patriots of the Republic of Kanata!" - Ed Laliberte, SaskatchewanContact Kevin Annett through thecommonland@gmail.com and www.murderbydecree.com , and see ten of his other books at www.amazon.com .

This book is impossible to put down. It embodies the inner workings of the mind of a modern revolutionary- a man who not only sees clearly what’s wrong with the world but who has devoted his life to standing up for the oppressed against the comfortable and corrupt, to set right injustices of the past & present. If he sounds sometimes jaded, he’s not and this is proof. Kevin Annett cannot ignore his conscience to indulge the human tendency towards entropy and the resultant tyranny. He’s a living wake-up call, and you’ll realize your bones ache with stiffness from sitting too long while others tow the burdens of necessary change. He’s one-of-a-kind and lives his truth. You’ll be required to revisit your own conscience as you read, while being entertained by personal anecdotes and enlightened by his fighting spirit. Bring your resistances to truth! He’ll smash them. Just read... but be forewarned- this is a no-bull zone, and you’ll find yourself questioning any complacency you’ve been lulled into by the slog of survival and the titillations of television. Turn on, tune in, and listen!
