Rate this book
This exceptional book immerses the reader in the world of gardens and plants. Jacqueline van de Kloet takes us on a tour of the garden in 12 chapters and shows us what makes a garden special and beautiful, month after month. She explains what has to be done throughout the year, shows us her favorite plants and gives us a glimpse into her many national and international projects. Jacqueline talks enthusiastically about her life as a garden and landscape designer and about her own little piece of paradise. The many photos are a source of inspiration and bear witness to this plantswoman’s love for everything that blossoms and flourishes. The 12 recurring fixed views read as a visual narrative showing how the garden develops through the year. This is the perfect book for every garden enthusiast.

This is certainly a beautiful book but unless your interested in Garden design, one I suggest checking out from the library rather than buying. The title is a little misleading since the author features quite a few of her projects she’s designed for the likes of Martha Stewart and Disneyland Paris.

The book starts in September which in my opinion, is an odd time to start the gardening year. I would think Spring would be more logical or even January. On page 22 of 270 the author writes, “an element I have hardly mentioned up to now is the pond.....” Since she hasn’t really discussed her garden at any length I can only assume that originally this was intended for a later chapter.

Lovely photos and layout. Wish she had listed growing conditions behind the names of favorite plants she recommended by color.
