Rate this book
The 1970s saw a change in the fortunes of the Scottish national side. Having exited undefeated at the 1974 World Cup in West Germany, the sobering trip to Argentina 78 prompted more realistic future expectations. Extensively researched, Scotland in the 70s examines the decade's 89 matches in depth, with the help of countless star contributors.

Memories of games I saw on the telly, never actually going to a Scotland match until 1979 which I shall mention in this review. A mixture of fond and painful memories of us in the 74 and 78 world cup tournaments. Billy Bremner's miss, beaten by the 'old' men of Peru and Archie Gemmill's wonderful goal against Netherlands.

Great research for all our line ups and results during the decade including my first Scotland game at home to Argentina in 79, where a teenage Maradona stole the show.

Love it!
