Attacked and left for dead, undercover FBI agent Ashley Thompson has forgotten almost everything about her current assignment. But since Logan doesn’t know Ashley’s real identity, is blowing her cover the only way to catch a killer?

Whoa! What a stellar Love Inspired Suspense debut from Kellie Vanhorn! The action driven plot kept me on the edge for the entire read. I was riveted right from the gripping opening scene through to the swoonworthy epilogue. I feel like one very indulged, very happy reader. :-)
Kellie Vanhorn really ramps up the tension in this with an amnesia angle! Undercover FBI agent Ashley Thompson was attacked and left for dead, forgetting who she is. Big Bend Park Ranger Logan Everett discovers her on his patrol rounds and from there there the story really takes off. Drug cartels, alleged hidden gold mines, and a suspicious death, all culminate into a fantastic suspense story by a new-to-me writer!
I really loved the different vibe of this story, it kept me turning pages to see what happens next. There were quite a few tense moments to keep my heart rate up, gasping from surprise and running alongside Logan and Ashley. These two characters really worked well together and I loved how their personalities meshed. The ending was tense, and just what I love to round off a good suspense book. I never guessed who the mole was!
A definite five star rating from me!
Grief is a terrible unavoidable part of this life. But it doesn't change the fact that God loves us, so much He was willing to die for us. God wants us to trust Him. And to let Him comfort us.

"Cold water roared through her clothes, swirling over her head and through her hair, dragging her back into consciousness."
What a great opening line! Debut author Kellie Vanhorn has written a fabulous story! That opening scene whet my appetite to discover what had happened to undercover FBI agent Ashley Thompson, who couldn't remember where she was or why. Park Ranger Logan Everett discovers Ashley after she is attacked and left for dead. Together they deal with all kinds of danger and work to expose a crime ring and catch a killer.
This story has everything suspense readers look for, interesting characters who have great chemistry together, a mystery to solve, and a setting in Big Bend National Park so full of vivid descriptions I felt like I was experiencing it all right along with Ashley and Logan.
I really enjoyed this story and give it five stars. I'll be watching for Kellie Vanhorn's next book!
This is a new author for me. She writes a great book. Getting to know Ashley Thompson was alot of fun. Ranger Logan Everett was interesting character. I enjoyed the mixture of suspense and mystery in this story. For she did a excellent job of drawing you into the story with Ashley's memory loss. She further draws you into the story with what is happening. The mystery map and who is behind the problems Ashley and Logan face. As each Mystery get solved you get to see the story unfold. Its a sad but happy story. Its a loss of a brother but also finding a new love. I will be looking for more books by this author. J

Suspenseful and sweet, this story will have you flipping pages to find out what happens!
The characters are well drawn, the setting is incredible, and it truly is a mystery as you discover along with Ahsley what happened to her and why she was sent to Big Bend. I loved all the details of the landscape and how perfectly that tied in with the mystery. A great read!
Average and rather boring, not anything that I haven't read before. Characters were bland and forgettable, but....
I absolutely loved the setting of West Texas, which is the #1 place I want to go to in the world.
And also, some of the villain plot points were kind of neat, even though some connections were predictable and there wasn't really any suspense involved for me. Still, it's a decent harlequin read, so I'll go midway in my rating of it.
Another great suspenseful read from Kellie VanHorn. Big Bend is one of my favorite national parks so I loved having a great suspenseful mystery set there.
Fatal Flashback by Kellie Vanhorn is one of my favorite LIS books, ever! I felt like I was reading a movie! The cover really sets the feel for this story, which takes place in Texas in Big Bend National Park. I loved the setting because it was so different! I have never read a book that takes place in this vast and beautifully dangerous area.
I liked Logan the second he appeared in this story. He’s kind, caring, loyal, and believes in doing the right thing. Ashley, who is undercover and has amnesia, was also a character that I really liked. I usually do not care that much for amnesia stories, but the way this was written was perfect! I really liked all the action in this story. It was so well done and believable and it was perfectly paced.
I am really looking forward to Kellie Vanhorn’s next story!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Fatal Flashback. This is Kellie's debut book for LIS. I really enjoyed it and look forward to her next book. She is a good addition to the club. This story is well written, action packed, and full of faith. I know you are going to love it.
FBI Agent Ashley Thompson was undercover. She is hit over the head and thrown over a ridge into the river and left for dead. She remembers her name but that's all. She is out in the middle of nowhere. She has a gun so she must be law enforcement. She remembers she's not speaking terms with God so she can't even pray. A man shows up wearing a uniform and wants to help. He manages to take her gun from her and gets her to her vehicle. Her name in her purse says Ashley Watson. What's going on?
Ranger Logan Everett has been to a meeting with the park rangers and the border patrol. It lasted longer than he expected. It was late. He had seen a black sedan drive past about an hour ago but it never returned. He felt something was wrong and the driver had looked like a woman. He goes to investigate. Sure enough he finds her car. As he searches the area finds a woman's watch in mint condition. He goes further and finds a woman who has obviously been injured. He soon finds out she is a new ranger and he is to train her.
A harrowing journey as they try to find the man who has assaulted her and the men she is sent her to find. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your world.
I love well-written suspense and Kellie Van Horn's Fatal Flashback did not disappoint. The suspense is tight, the characters are real, the romance is sweet, and the setting is unusual but felt just right.
Ashley is reporting for duty as a ranger at Big Bend National Park in Texas when she finds herself in deep water--literally. She's been thrown into the Rio Grande with no memory of who did it or why.
Logan Everett is a ranger, still reeling from the death of a trainee ranger three months ago and the abandonment of his almost-fiancee five years ago. He fights his attraction to Ashley, especially since she's clearly hiding something.
As Ashley's memory creeps back, she and Logan search for a crime ring operating inside the park. They don't know who they can trust, except for each other. Logan also trusts God, but Ashley doesn't. She can't remember why, but she knows God abandoned her.
I loved this fast-paced story. Ashley's memories returned at a realistic pace, just as they would to someone with a head injury. The clues were doled out fairly. The romantic tension built organically, just the way I like it.
I highly recommend this book!
I received a free copy of this book from the author. This did not influence my review, nor did it induce me to review the book.
From the first sentence Kellie Vanhorn was able to draw me in to Ashley Thompson’s predicament (I actually love a well-done amnesia storyline). I was instantly captivated and the intrigue did not allow me to put the book down (I read it in two sittings). Logan Everett was instantly trustworthy to the reader, which eludes Ashley as she is in a situation in which she is unable to trust anyone around her. The faith of the characters adds depth to the story, especially in situations and environments that relentlessly test that faith.
I don’t normally read this genre and was pleasantly surprised by the breadth and depth of the many topics covered: FBI/ranger politics, the harsh environment of Big Bend National Park, the drug cartel, and border crossings. Pair all that with near-death experiences, romance, mystery deaths, and suspense and it adds us to a great read. The only reason I didn’t give the book a full five stars involves small plot points that aren’t integral to the main storyline but I can’t divulge without introducing spoilers. I would recommend (and have…my mom is borrowing my copy as we speak!) this book to friends and family.
OK, I'll admit it. As much as I liked the characters, it was the Big Bend National Park, Texas, that really stole the show for me. Santa Elena Canyon etc. is probably one of the most interesting and unique places that I've read about in a Love Inspired Suspense novel. Kellie VanHorn does an excellent job describing the sights, sounds, and smells of the dramatic location leaving readers feeling like they've been there. While she does take some license with trails and other spots you can almost feel the heat...and the danger...
Fatal Flashback is the perfect title for for this little tale of romantic suspense. What Ashley can't remember is dangerous, but what she does remember is even more lethal. And, of course, Logan isn't sure who he can trust anymore. Fatal Flashback has lots of thrills and, despite the Texas heat, chills in store for readers. So, go ahead and check out Kellie VanHorn's debut with Love Inspired Suspense.
(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are entirely my own.)
Forest Ranger Logan Everett finds a frightened woman in rough condition crawling out of the water and she doesn’t know who she is. So Logan brings her to headquarters to get answers and come to find out Ashley Thompson is the new ranger that he has to train. What Logan doesn’t realize is Ashley is an FBI Agent undercover and even she doesn’t know whom she isLogan and Ashley instantly connect even though they fight the attraction admits attacks on her life from the get go. As Ashley starts to get her memory back she starts to tell Logan bits of info as much as she can remember but her killers don’t want her to remember so they will stop at nothing to take her down before she can take them down. Can Logan save Ashley in time to have a relationship? And can she remember everything before it’s too late
Kellie Van Horn has written a fantastic debut book that pulled me in from the first page and had me turning the pages until the action packed ending.
Big Bend National Park is the setting which the author goes into detail describing the various trails and the vast area it encompasses. It made me want to visit here one day.
Undercover FBI agent Ashley Thompson arrives to try to track down a drug cartel lord and locate a mysterious gold mine. She suffers amnesia from an attack.
Park Ranger Logan Everett is assigned to train Ashley. The heart pounding action keeps readers on the edge of their seats. They survive many harrowing experiences. They work to also discover a mole in the department. I loved Ashley and Logan’s bravery and tenacity.
A faith message is woven into the book. An adrenaline pumping suspense story that readers will enjoy.
You're in for a thrilling chase across the border for a case one FBI agent is dying to remember.
As pieces of her past slowly return after surviving a push into the river, Ashley knows her mission is close to home and too important to run from. She gets help from a charming ranger but hesitates to give him her full trust.
Fatal Flashback places a tale of suspense and mystery on a foundation of faith with a covering of romance. The combination results in a page-turner you won't want to end.
Well-written with great description throughout to help the reader to visualize the scene and events, as well as empathize with the characters. Loved the creativity of the plot line as it unfolded, especially with the loss of memory and the relationship with Logan as she worked to solve the mystery. Highly recommend!
*I received a free copy of this book from the author in return for my honest review.
FATAL FLASHBACK is Ms.VanHorn's debut LIS and it was one of the better written ones I've read recently even though I found it extremely formula driven and as a result very predictable. I do read a lot of romantic suspense though.
There was some guess work who-dun-it, and a unique setting which definitely part of the story. That was very well done.
If you like LIS books, you will love FATAL FLASHBACK.
Not only a solid love story but also a very intense suspense book! Ashley is undercover and in trouble right from the first page. Kellie keeps you wrapped up in the story watching as Ashley's memories come back while simultaneously coming to terms with her brother's death and God's saving grace. Loved it!
Kellie VanHorn ranks high in my list of favorite suspense authors. Fatal Flashback's tight writing, relatable characters, and tension-filled mystery did not disappoint. Well done!
Enjoy ed every word of the book. It held my attention throughout. It was a very interesting story .l loved the characters and you couldn't figure out how it would end or who did it.
