Strike Force Red is the first volume in Mr. Glatt's new series "The Korth Chronicles." It is an alternative history that takes place at the cusp of WW II and involves an "accidental" invasion of an alien race, the Korth. It is also my first alternative history that I have read, avoiding them in the past. It was Chris Glatte's reputation that drew me to give it a try.

Prior to starting this series, I throughly enjoyed his earlier WW II two series, "The 164th Regiment" and" Tark's Ticks." Mr. Glatte is writing "The Korth Chronicles" under C.T. Glatte, not sure why the distance from his earlier books as Chris Glatte.

The Korth invasion of Europe is the impetus for the novel, which alters the arc of American history, thus an alternative history. The story has three streams involving three main characters who are connected at the beginning of the novel. As with Mr. Glatte's earlier novels, he sketches is major characters with a fine point, especially Jimmy. Two of the settings reflect his strong descriptions of war and the hyper emotions of killing and fear, as well as the strong emotions that enable a person to work through their fear to do what has to be done. The second stream is also a strong stream like Jimmy's. This second stream carries MaryAnn and her P-51, the Tigress, into the war. The third stream, and the more enigmatic one for me, involves Rex Crandall, Jimmy's father, and his return to service and a shadowy group that will likely be revealed in the next volume. It may tie the Korth more tightly into the narrative, which I believe is necessary.

I regularly read military fiction and science fiction. Strike Force Red is a combination of the two set within an historical time as opposed to a future time. As expected, Mr. Glatte very capably captures the military fiction portion writing with great familiarity of the subject. However, I found the Korth portion (science fiction) of the book to be truncated, almost as if the small slice of understanding who the Korth are is left to the follow-on book in the series.

The book was an easy read that kept me engaged until just after midnight last night when I finished the book. The story engaged me enough so that I will add "Strike Force Black" to my reading list.

A CTG. SYFY. Novel (SFR. - TKCB. - 1) Allied Forces Combat the German Army

CJTG. Jhas. Penned a SYFY. Novel which begins with an Alien Spacecraft becoming visible inside of Earth's atmosphere. There location is Europe and European airways go quiet. The US. decided that the aliens had gained control and started to plan a military force to combat the Alien and Germans war machine. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Great story so far

Keep in mind that NCOs are the the backbone of any military force, the true professionals. Officers in the military may have a college education but lack the experience of their NCOs. It was sad to read of your protagonist's confidence in an officer over an NCO. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the action portions and feel personally attached to your characters.

Excellent

I had this book in my library for a while, and somehow always looked for a reason to read something else. In the end I decided to read this book partly out of pure boredom and also because it was the one kindle unlimited book that was yin my library for the longest time. And to be honest I enjoyed it thorp. To the extent that I am making a note of both the book and the author in order to defionot miss the follow up books in the series.

Decent story. Nothing revolutionary.

If you've read any other alt-history in the WWII era, this won't show you much that you haven't already seen. Aliens don't play much of a role, other than prompting the story and slightly advancing some tech. There are a ton of spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. So if that is something that triggers you, be warned.

Historical fiction with a devious sci-fi twist. I enjoyed the action and the characters. The plot is a bit complex but mind control of the enemy (against America) will do that. There is a ton of violence and some heartbreaking moments. The storyline is great and I already got book 2 from Kindle Unlimited! Enjoy!

Good Story

The characters were pretty well written and the story flowed well. The scenes and points of view shift frequently but it is clear to the reader as to who is the focus of the segment.
