Charlotte Bennett has always been different. A birth defect has given her a lifetime of misery, and as an adult, the ridicule hasn't stopped. When preparations for a spring festival begin, the sudden attention from Elijah Collins, the middle son of the local mercantile owner, make her dream of a future she never thought she'd have. But rumors of his impending marriage make her question his motives. Why is he still pursuing her if he plans to be married? And how will she protect her heart if the rumors turn out to be true?
Everly Ann West grew up in a rodeo family in west Texas. The youngest child in a family of six kids, she developed a love of history at an early age. She started writing seriously while her kids were napping, and now that they're in school, she has time to write all the stories she's wanted to tell for years. She is supported by her own cowboy and the love of her life, who provides the inspiration for her heroes, as well as chocolate when needed.
Elijah was the son of the mercantile owner and worked there too. Charlotte was the bakers daughter and she worked there making elegant pasteries. She secretly had a crush on Elijah and he on her. She was extremely shy due to awful reading because she had a misshapen ear. Will she and Elijah ever realize the happiness that was just out of reach? Would they ever find true love and their happy ever after together?
I liked this book but continued to think this is very different from the first 4 books. Some similarities in style to book 5 in that the brides were not against getting married in first place
