It was supposed to be just a fun summer romance. No strings. No obligations. No future. Only this little adventure left behind a keepsake they didn’t expect…Romance author Sabrina Taylor is ready to escape the monotony of her small-town life when she flies off on an all-expenses-paid vacation to Venice, Italy. Indulging in food, shopping, and maybe a few selfies for her author Instagram account are the only things on her itinerary. Not falling for the charms of the sexy and thoroughly off-limits stranger whom fate seems determined to throw in her path.Crown Prince Christian of Odinsborg is in Venice for a brief break from the suffocating public scrutiny surrounding his possible upcoming engagement. Spending time in the company of the lovely and irreverent American writer who has no idea of his name, let alone his title, delivers just the break he needs. Only, what was supposed to be a brief but memorable escape for them both starts to feel all too real. Especially when one unintended consequence of their short-lived adventure follows them home…
Ashlee Mallory is a USA Today Bestselling author of Sweet Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy, Suspense, and Thrillers.
A recovering attorney, she currently resides in Utah with her husband and two kids. She aspires to one day include running, hiking and traveling to exotic destinations in her list of things she enjoys, but currently settles for enjoying a good book and a glass of wine from the comfort of her couch.
Sabrina Taylor is a small town girl from Idaho with an imagination and a great talent for writing, whether reporting for her local newspaper or writing her published romance novels. She also has a fantastic desire for adventure which leads her to a Vacation with her sister and her intended to Venice. There she meets Chris who assumes her author name is her real name. They have a week together and one special night before Crown Prince Christian is called to return to his kingdom because his father has had a stroke. Sabrina misses him when he does not show up for the first leg of their extra week of travel together because she did not get the letter he had delivered. She returns to USA finding out weeks later she is pregnant, Neither can find the other. But Christian remembers the name of the small Idaho town and plans a trip eight months later to find the woman he can't forget and so he can get closure. A great story full of companionship and love without constant erotic love making. The plot is so good, the pages keep turning! I volunteered this review from an ARC.
The premise itself was good - Sabrina and Christian have a whirlwind summer romance in Venice, go their separate ways, she discovers she's pregnant, he comes to find her, and the story goes on from there.
It wasn't bad, but I wanted more. I wanted the journey, instead of being told about it. The most pivotal night of their lives in this book is essentially skipped over. You don't get to experience it with them, you're filled in on what happened after the fact. I'm not saying I needed a blow-by-blow account or a detailed sex scene, but I needed more than what I got. Sabrina tells you from her perspective how romantic and how amazing this last night in Venice was, and how they made plans to meet at the train station and he didn't show up, and how devastated she was when that happened. But you don't get to see that and feel those emotions with her because you're only told about it instead of being a bystander as a reader and finding out how it happened for yourself. Because of that, it was hard to be totally invested in these characters.
What a fantastic book which I highly recommend to all readers who love great romantic stories. Sabrina has been given a free trip to Vienna by her sister where she meets a handsome man named Chris. They enjoy their time so much that they extend their stay but Sabrina thinks that he has left her with no notice when he fails to turn up at the train station. A month later she finds she is pregnant and can't contact Chris at all. Chris meanwhile has no idea as he left a letter for her and thinks that she has not cared. He goes to Eureka Idaho where he remembers she lives and finds her unexpectedly very pregnant. Readers will love this romantic exciting story just like I did and should enjoy finding out what happens between these two lovers especially as Chris is a Prince.
The first series I read from Ashlee Mallory was The Sorensen Family set, though I discovered these books first on the mobile app Chapters, and later invested in and read all of her books as well.
I really enjoyed getting to know the characters in these books, and shared their emotional hills and valleys as each story and series progresses. I appreciated the fact that this author is excellent at writing romances based out the oddest circumstances imaginable, and also managed to catch my breath with each chapter of her suspense novel as well.
If you are interested in romance, humor, or even suspense, you should definitely check out Ashlee's books. I'd recommend her books for anyone that enjoys a good story with memorable characters you will find yourself falling in love with.
Sweet, sweet book. Chris, or should I say Christian, didn’t know what love was and it almost cost him a life of happiness. Sabrina let her fears rule and that almost cost her and her son a life of love, acceptance and happiness.
This is a story of two different people having to face some hard facts of life. Their struggles are real but its how they face those struggles that keeps you turning the pages. One struggles with duty … duty to country, duty to family and duty to birthright. The other struggles with doubts, fear and pride. And they almost lose everything by allowing these snuggles rule their life and their relationship.
Yes, we get a ‘happy ever after’, but its the journey to that HEA that makes this such a good read.
When Sabrina is given a gift of a free trip to Vienna, because her sister and her fiancé couldn’t make it, she had no idea what the future was for her. Prince Christian can’t believe his luck when the beautiful woman doesn’t know who he is. He mistakenly thinks her romance writer pen name is real and he tells her his name is Chris. When he’s called home in the middle of the night, Sabrina thinks she’s been dumped and when she finds out she’s pregnant, vows to raise him herself. But eight months later when he reappears with his friend who bought the local ski resort, he has no intention of letting her do anything without him. I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to everyone.
They meet in Venice. Neither know their true names. Things happen, then they go their separate ways. She is pregnant with no way to reach him. Fast forward 8 months and he ends up in her small town. This town is cute. He is a prince of small country that is expected to marry someone else. The ups and downs of their relationship is crazy and cute. Their families are completely different. Love this small town and their friends. Love this book.
This place S a clean romance and that’s one of the problems. The book skips a lot. Sabrina and Christian meet, have a good time and then it’s a month later, and then 8 months. I feel like I’m being told the story instead of living it. I didn’t feel like I wanted to jump into the story. Being told she was left at he station months after the event, meant no emotions were added and there lies the biggest problem. Sabrina’s parents reaction to their daughter being pregnant and single appeared missing. Again it’s mentioned after the fact. No emotions from either side. And the queens reaction to her son’s potential new wife. She warns Sabrina off, then they marry. The problem the queen brought up, vanished. However, it is a well-written and edited book. Not much in the way of formatting problems picked up. Nothing to drag you away from the story. I just wish I felt more chemistry from the main couple.
There's something so exciting about pretending to be someone else for a little bit. But when you need to find the person you spent some time with, that leads to a ton of complications.
Sabrina and Christian had a whirlwind time in Venice. He pretended to be a regular guy instead of a crown prince, and she pretended to just be a romance author from a small town. No real details were shared about their lives. So when Sabrina returns home and finds that she's pregnant, she's resolved to go it alone.
The chemistry between them is off the charts. They couldn't be more different in a lot of ways but when it really mattered, their similarities were great. At times, this book broke my heart. I wasn't sure they would ever be able to overcome all of the obstacles in their way but I loved the ending.
Nice CR read! Loved the royalty aspect, surprise baby trope and small town goodness. Loved the h, she was a very strong and independent woman, the H (the prince) was also kind and made efforts for the h but he was a little bit dense for the most part. Sometimes, you might feel like smacking their heads cause' they are so frustrating but well the end was worth it. Does not have steam but great kisses. Great ending.
Sabrina and Chris share a brief summer fling...that has very real consequences when Sabrina returns from vacation. Faced with raising her baby on her own, Sabrina is surprised to find out "Chris" is really Prince Christian, heir to the throne.
This was a fun, fast paced Royal story. I loved Sabrina and Christian and their cast of friends. I hope there are more books in this series!!
You'll love Sabrina and Chris's story. A sweet romance that will warm your heart. A beautiful ending to this royal - commander love story. Fate brought them together in Venice and she left with a beautiful souvenir. This story had lots of twists and surprises. Well written with likable characters.
This is a outstanding and heartwarming romance with adorable and charming characters that will definitely touch your heart and have you'll rooting for their happily ever after.
Loved this book! It was so much fun to read. The Prince is such a sweetheart who is genuine and kind. You don't often read a book about a woman 8 months pregnant as a love interest.
Entertaining story of a couple who meet in Venice and are both trying to be incognito. Eight months later Prince Christian meets up with Sabrina in her hometown.
Usually these Prince \ princess books are so predictable, they're not much fun to read, but this one has lots of ups and downs, it makes it so much fun! Very predictable Queen, though! All in all, it was a very good read! Will be looking for more!
This is such a great down to earth love story. Sabrina went through such turmoil in her mind about so much. So many twists and turns in this story, but true sincere and deep heart wrenching love persisted.
