SOOO I took another one for the team. Unfortunately, this one didn't go as well as my previous foray into starting a book without reading reviews first...

description

The blurb for this book was AWESOME. A hot muffin man ex-Navy Seal going all alpha and wanting to breed his little cupcake...that's a WHOLE heap of yummy frosting, right? Ya didn't pan out that way.

description

First of all there was something off with the writing for me. The dialogue was stilted or something. I can't really place my finger on the "what" but everyone just sounded like robots delivering lines.

On top of that Vincent didn't come across like a OTT alpha going after his muffin queen. He's been panting after her for a year, and he only steps up to the plate when she gets in trouble.

description

My main reason for only giving this 2 stars, and for spending the last half of the book LAUGHING MY ASS OFF was the OTT cheesiness that was Vincent and the evil Irish mob boss Aiden. Vincent was like an ex Seal turned muffin man ninja superhero. No lies, he took out THREE of Aiden's armed henchmen all by his little lonesome self. With just his BODY, no weapons, laid'em out flat.

But that's not all. When his muffin queen is kidnapped by the evil mustache twirling Aiden SHANK (yes his last name was SHANK) he fights the good fight against the henchman (who has a GUN) using kitchen items like pot lids and pans.

description

Even though the evil Shank gets the muffin queen back to his lair. Vincent the ninja baker is on the case. He leaves a cupcake with a homemade explosive inside to be delivered to his muffin queen. She opens that little cake of death and hurls it at that (poor henchman) causing him to go up in flames.

I could go on here, but really I think you get the point. This just wasn't that good. Unless you need a laugh, then it was excellent...

Was it believable? Nope! Did I like it anyway? As much as the muffins Evey enjoys so much :) I honestly think part of it was the timing. I wanted a cutesy OTT, story after a pretty heavy read and this gave it to me. Vincent, an ex Seal, owns a bakery next to the bar that Evey owns with her brother. After her dad passes, they get in some trouble with a mafia dude. The story has some action, cupcakes, extortion, muffins, love with sexy times, kidnapping, coffee and more. I found Vincent to be sweet and sexy even if he was a little insane for dropping so much dough on his crush. If you can suspend your belief for an hour or so, you might find this a treat. Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing. h has an aggressive OM interested in her. No rape or abuse.

This is my second DNF today!

Oh my gosh, this one was not for me.
I was doing fine until he gives her the money to save her "Virtue" (after not even having one "real" conversation with her).
Then, he saves her life...I was all REALLY HERE?!
Just too much for me here.
I need my romance to be somewhat believable.
Also, the heroine just sounds lazy to me here. Can't get out of bed, overindulging on the things she likes, being late a lot, just she does not sound like my type of heroine.
Honestly, I tried here because the hero sounds soooo good but with the Navy Seal ninja out of nowhere business happened, I thought to my self I can't read anymore.

And I don't have to here!

I totally enjoyed this story! You got sweet, curvaceous Evey, bad boy turned good, Vincent who happens to be former Navy Seal turned bakery man and a sleazy Irish mobster.

Aiden Shanks (yes, Shanks!) is putting the squeeze on Evey and her brother Tommy for a debt owed by their father. Aiden cares more about getting in Eveys pants than the money. Evey and Vincent have had a year long eye f*ck fest so Vincent notices when Evey starts reacting in fear. The navy seal in him comes out for the rescue!

This was a fun read with a side of mob a*s kicking! Caution, please read on a full stomach. The talk of all the sugary goodness made by and ex-seal will be pure temptation!

A quick long-story (not quite a novella) that featured very likable MCs and a nasty villain who doesn't know when to quit. Delicious baked goodies, hot sex, a splash of romance, some rough action scenes and an HEA. What's not to like? Cute, fast, and adorable if a bit cliched.

4 “Muffin Bombs” Stars.

Dear Tabatha Kiss,

I read one of your book at the beginning of this month. It was an ok book for me. But something told me that it wasn’t going to be the only book I would read by you. And then, a few weeks ago you revealed the blurb of Muffin Top and I was like “I’m so reading this one”. Because seriously, the idea of a sexy male baker had me super excited to read it.

The book hit my kindle, I dived into it right away and didn't stop reading till I read the last page. Muffin Top was not what I was expecting at all. I honestly thought it would be just another raunchy reading but oh boy was I wrong. Tabatha Kiss, you knocked me down with a feather delivering a sweat-steamy reading with an angsty sparkle of suspense all wrapped up in a delicious blueberry muffin with a cherry on top. And I loved every second of it.

Let’s talk about the story a little bit.

“She walked into my bakery and my dough wasn’t the only thing rising…” LOL.

Evey and her brother happens to own a bar next to Vincent’s bakery called Muffin Top. VINCENT. Sweet baby Jeezus with a cherry on top. He’s this quite but sexy man who could give any professional baker a run for her/his money. I would eat whatever he bakes me or cooks me or… yeah, you get it right? But the thing here is that he’s not only a baker, oh no! He’s also an ex navy seal. And one of the best.

“If she’s gonna have a bun in her oven… it’s gonna be mine.”

Vincent has had a crush on Evey from the very first moment he saw her walking into his bakery, but he never thought he could have a chance with her. His own little demons didn't allow him to think he deserves happiness so he decides to watch her from afar. Little did he knows that Evey felt the same way.

Evey and her brother are being threatened by the Irish Mafia. But Aiden Shanks, the Mafia Boss, is more interested in getting into Evey’s pants that in getting back the money they own him. But what he doesn't know is that Evey has someone who will destroy whoever tries to take her from him.

“Sometimes a girl just needs a hero.”

And Evey got her hero. Her sinfully sweet hero. A real man who not only cooks but will move heaven and earth to protect her.

“Vincent Silva might not want to think of himself as a hero but that’s exactly why he is to me.”

Will Vincent and his muffins be able to save her? What about the happily ever after? You definitely need to read Muffin Top to know how their story will end. Believe me, the ride is as sweet as is deadly.

Engaging characters, a well-handled plot, that may or may not be a little cliche but one that Ms. Kiss deliciously pulled off delivering a great action-packed scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat. All of these with a simmering sexual tension that make this laughter-tinged romance a hot, lively read.

I cant wait to read more from Tabatha Kiss. Meanwhile, I will be here eating cupcakes like a boss. LOL.

I absolutely loved this book! A hot, steamy, suspenseful, intriguing, and captivating story with some surprises and humor thrown in. The story-line is good, the writing flowed smoothly, and the developing relationship between the two main characters was great. If you want a book to get lost in for a while, Muffin Top by Tabatha Kiss is the one for you.

I picked it up when it was a freebie. Anywaddle, I liked the setup to the story with hot ex-SEAL baker - ripped AND wants to feed me baked goods? Lawd I am IN like Flynn with that - and BBW heroine who’s in a spot of bother with the local mobster. Lots o’ smutnip there to feast on.

However, the execution was lacking. There’s lots of ridiculous action, but it doesn’t flow, it’s all jammed into the backend (heh). The romance itself was offputting, since I didn’t believe that Evey and Vincent’s chemistry was that convincing and the writing didn’t help it along. All in all, a good idea that doesn’t live up to its promise. But it was free *shrugs* you win some, you lose some.

I absolutely loved this book! Evey and Vins bantering only set things off in the chemistry department. Those two will set your Kindle on fire.

I loved that this story had so many different facets to it. The Irish Mob, an Alpha male baker with muscles to boot, a curvy, Fiesta women, and their explosive chemistry.

I recommend you read Muffin Top... you'll be beggin Vin to top your muffin!

Erotic Romance, Standalone Novella.  Includes bonus novel.

I found Muffin Top by Tabatha Kiss when I added it to my 99¢ sale list. The reviews were phenomenal. As of this review, there are 488 reviews with a 4.8/5 average. That is OUTSTANDING. I noticed it was short and included a bonus book, and it had a great blurb and cover (right?) so I had to click!

Muffin Top is action-packed, sinfully steamy, and sure to satisfy your sweet tooth! For a limited time, your Kindle copy includes another steamy, action-packed, bonus read!

Hmmmm....WTF did I just read? I mean, I liked it enough to finish (but not read the second), I read it in one sitting, but with the phenomenal reviews I was honestly disappointed. The writing style felt a little stilted and forced to me, and the whole story just kind of silly and over the top. It started out with lots of promise. Evey part-owned the bar next to Vincent's bakery. She stopped in every day for the same thing and basically lusted after the muffin man while he did the same. But they never spoke beyond the order.

"I watch him with anticipation, salivating over a little more than his tasty muffins, that’s for sure."

I love that kind of tension and build up. I love that she's a bigger girl. I love how The Muffin Man is big and burly yet makes muffins. I love how they pined away for a year.

Almost every night for a year we’ve done this, and every time, I try to pick out one thing I’ve never noticed about her. On the first night, I noticed her brown eyes. On the twenty-fifth night, I noticed the freckle on her neck.

But when they finally break the ice after a year, BAM. That was it.

Why didn’t you ever say anything to me?”
“Why didn’t you ever say anything to me?”
“Well…” I take a step back and gesture downward. “Look at me.”
“I do look at you, Evey,” he says. “I don’t think you see yourself the same way I see you. You’re beautiful to me. You smile and my world stops. You walk in here and I can’t breathe.”

When Evey starts getting the shakedown from the mob boss 'Shanks', Vince proves he is way more than a muffin man by taking down 3 guys with his bare hands.

“Sometimes a girl just needs a hero.”

Then there is all kinds of action and fighting and rescuing and stuff...all a bit silly but fun.
*Note: the book ends at 48% and another book, Bodyguard is included.

Likes:

• Cute Premise.
• Love the cover and blurb.
• Hot sex.
• Plus sized heroine.
• Manly baker (but of course he wasn't just a baker).
• Alpha in bed...yummy.
• Some lines that made me laugh out loud.

Dislikes:

• The writing and dialogue came off kind of choppy and stilted at times and then run-on at times.
• The whole thing was just a little silly. A lot of stuff happened in a very short book, so it all felt rushed and kind of goofy.
• Hardly a mention that she was BBW

The Down & Dirty:
Perhaps if I wasn't expecting so much from the huge amount of amazing reviews, I would have enjoyed Muffin Top more. It was honestly cute and fun, but it was also over-the-top silly at times. The action overshadowed a relationship that could have really been the star. The writing didn't always flow very well and felt choppy at times, but it was still a quick, easy and fun read.

Rating: 3 stars, 4 heat

Oh man! I love this, It is good to see a man knowing he way around the kitchen.
Vincent owns Muffin top but you wouldn't expect it from this sexy man especially with his physique oh and he happens to be ex navy seal ( Hotness right! ). He has been admiring the beautiful cury bar owner next door named Evey. Evey is part owner of the bar with her brother, their father owned it but due to him passing away he left the bar to them as well as his debt. Only the debt he owes isn't to a bank it is to a bad guy and he has his eyes set on Evey but lucky for her Vincent won't let him have her. I thought this was going to be a sweet read but then it turns out there is much more to it like a mob boss wanting his money and willing to kill people, it the end it was sweet with a badass seal protecting his women.

Lol. Oh boy. I must confess that I love finding books while scrolling amazon. This one made me laugh with the title, and I couldn't resist clicking on it. Needless to say, I had to get it and read it asap.

This was a fun book. I loved that she wasn't a stick figure yet the hot guy that's got an amazing ripped body wanted her.

This had a great storyline, with some suspense as well as heat. I'll admit, I wondered how they'd get out of the predicament and just when I thought it was done, it came back with a vengeance!

Vincent is my type of book boyfriend. He was super protective and went out of his way to make things better for Evey. I loved them together.

This was definitely a fun book to read.

When Evey finds out that her brother has been hiding the fact that they owe more money to a mafia loan shark, she is livid especially when the loan shark wants it paid in his bed with her body. Vincent has long been crushing on an oblivious Evey, when he sees her upset he does something to fix it. Vincent finally has Evey in his arms and he has no plans of letting her go.

This was fun fluff. I thought overall it was a bit unrealistic but was looking for something light and this worked.

This was an enjoyable story overall but it had definite issues. Evey was a decent heroine and I liked Vincent as the hero. Regardless of the issues with the story, I will say that I did get caught up in the story and finished it quickly. I should also note that although Goodreads says the book is 299 pages long, Muffin Top actually stopped at the 48% mark on my Kindle because a copy of Bodyguard was included with it.

Evey is the co-owner her family's bar along with her older brother, Tommy. Their parents are both deceased and unfortunately, when their father died just recently, he left them a debt with the local loan shark, Shanks. Evey and Tommy don't have the money to pay it off and Shanks has more than a business interest in Evey.

Vincent is the owner of a bakery called Muffin Top. He used to be a SEAL and since he came home from the military, he's had a hard time assimilating back into society. Vincent mostly just makes his baked goods and doesn't leave his bakery much. The one light in his life is Evey, who comes in daily to get a large coffee and a blueberry muffin.

When the story begins, Evey and her brother are being given a hard time by Shanks. Business has been slow lately and they don't have the money that Shanks wants. Unfortunately, Shanks is quite clear in his interest in Evey and makes her an offer of working off their debt...on her back. Uhg! Needless to say, Shanks is a slimy scumbag. Evey is freaked out and scared of what will happen when Shanks comes back and Vincent notices her change in attitude. He's liked her for around a year so when he realizes she's in trouble, he wants to help. When he finds out about her issues with Shanks, he's determined to keep her safe.

Evey doesn't realize just how long Vincent has had a thing for her so she's unsure when he shows an interest in her and wants to help. Once Vincent makes his interest clear though, things move very quickly between them since they've both been nursing mutual crushes on each other for the past year. While their relationship goes from 0-60 in the space of 2 days, Shanks does his best to spoil their happiness so he can have Evey for himself, whether she wants him or not. Things happen and there's danger and all that but Vincent and Evey get past it and end the story starting a HEA together.

This was an engaging story and I enjoyed it overall but there were some major issues that kept my rating down. Mostly, the story was over the top and hard to believe. I mean I do pretty well at suspending disbelief (one of my favorite genres is paranormal) but some of the things that happened just seemed a bit much, even for me. Also, the writing wasn't the greatest at times...sometimes I noticed sentences that just didn't seem to work for the paragraph and had me questioning what the heck the author meant by it (which was kind of distracting). There were also some editing errors but those weren't too plentiful.

I will say that there were some parts I really liked...like Evey verbally slamming Shanks during their showdown (even if there was a painful response). I always hate it when a heroine is too placating towards the evil jerks that have kidnapped them and Evey didn't so that. Vincent was a sweetheart if a bit single minded once he set his mind on something. Overall, this was a decent story but it was flawed enough that I can't say I'd recommend it.

Sadly another one i didn't connect with.. idk why i love the cover love that it was a curvy gal and a ex seal.. but idk it just felt off to me :( which is sad cuz i really wanted to enjoy the story... Vincent been lusting/crushing for Evey for a year and never tried to get with her until she was in danger.. :/ as for Evey well she was just there.. and i dont think ill even read the others in this series.. Vincent's sister sounds like a bitch

Why a 1.5 is for the cover and curvy gal in the book..

No ow drama slight om drama, no cheating, Drama, secondary charas, not a manwhore and no virgins

Four wonderful stars for Muffin Top!
Have your bibs ready when you read this one, besides a drool worthy hero, he is a baker too making drool worthy goodies !

For a little over a year now Vincent Silva's bakery "Muffin Top" has been open right next door to the Ryan's bar and for that a pintos time Vincent his watched the Beautiful Evey Ryan and catalogued every emotions and facial feature , so when Evey comes in for her morning coffee with even darker circles under her eyes than normal and clearly a look of worry in he eyes Vincent wonders what put it there.

Evey Ryan and her brother inherited the family bar from their father when he passed , unfortunately they also inherited his debts too. Little did they know their father owed a huge sum of money to the Irish mobster Aiden Shanks they have spent the last fewmonths working themselves to the bone to make the monthly payment with intrest. Aiden Shanks however is done taking excuses he wants his money or he wants Evey; suggestion that every night she spends with him he will take twenty off the debt owed him. The thought of this mobster touching her is sickening but as time ticks by the likelihood of that happening is increasing; especially when she is leaving the bar after closing at 4four am to find her tires slashed with a note from Shanks to come to hi. Or the next time it will be her brother's throat. Evey finds her hero in Vinnie that morning .
Vinnie usually watches out for Evey 4 am is when he is opening shop , so he takes his oppurtunity to appreciate Evey, but seeing the distress on her this morning draws Vinnie into the alley way where he gets a look at her ts and the note setting him into protective mode.
Vinnie to come in and have coffe and a muffin while she waits for a cab to pick her up which leads to a reveal on both their parts , that they both have had intrest in each other but neither one bold enough till now to say anything! A single kiss leads to a whole lot more.
These two plow Ahead, but even after Evey pays off Shanks with Vinnies help ; Shanks is still an issue.
Luckily for Evey, her baker is more than capable of protecting her, turns out his past life was as a navy seal, and this ex seal is not letting anyone take his women form him!
So settle I. For a drrolworthy, sexy action packed read!

I loved this book, I read it in one sitting. Evey and Vincent are amazing characters.
Vincent is the owner of a bakery named Muffin Top. Everyday he looks forward to when the bar owner from next door stops in to get her usual blueberry muffin and coffee. He is enamoured with her but feels like he doesn't deserve her so he is content with her daily visit. Evey is said bar owner from next door and she enjoys her morning visits to Muffin top every bit as much as Vincent. She feels like he is way out of her league so is happy with checking him out every morning.
Evey and her brother inherited the bar when their father passed away and with it inherited his debt to a local monster Aidan. The two are struggling with making the payments and Evey is offered to work it off by sleeping with Aidan or he will take it out on her brother. Vincent learns of Aidan's plans and is not about to let him touch the woman of his dreams.
This is where the relationship between Vincent and Evey picks up. It is fast, sweet and combustably hot. The two go through so much together over a few days and it was a joy to read their rollercoaster of a journey. Love, love, loved it! Vincent is one sexy baker!

Muffin Top is one emotions and sexy-sweet read. It has suspense wrapped in with all this angst and sexual tension that is sprinkled with sassiness. Evey and her brother have a bar next door to a bakery owned by Vincent. Now, picture him- he is sexy and handsome and he bakes =the name of his bakery is called Muffin Top. But Vincent has a secret side-he is an ex-navy seal.
Vincent has had a crush, a serious crush on Evey since she walked into his bakery. He thought he would never have a chance with her until… Evey and her brother are being threatened by the Irish Mafia. Evey is in more danger from the head of the Irish Mafia beause he wants Evey for himself. What the mafia doesn’t know is, Vincent will make sure they don’t get their hands on his woman. The story gets really good because there are so many twists and turns as secrets are revelaed and more come about. Evey has always had a thing for the baker and this is a such a fanastic love story that I was sad when it ended. Kudos to the author for writing a beautiful love story. I cannot wait to see what comes next.

5 Delicious Stars!

This fun, flirty, and sexy romance really got me licking my lips. I loved Evey and Vincent. I don't mind Alphas but though Vincent is far from nerdy, he's Alpha is in own way without being overbearing. Evey is really strong and though she knows she's curvy, she doesn't feel that bad about it. She loves food and eating it, so what?

If I'm not mistaken, this is the first novel I've read about a BBW heroine and it's refreshing. Not much drama here, just light reading. Evey and Vincent are adorable together, theirs is a fast-paced romance but their love story reminds me of One Republic's song, "All This Time". They've been attracted to each other for over a year and it took a mobster to bring them together.

Their chemistry was amazing under and over the sheets. Vincent is at a time in his life where he wants to settle down, have a family, raise children, and though Evey wasn't looking that far ahead, she felt that yearning with Vincent.

There were a lot of other fun characters to read about so I gotta say this is another awesome standalone by this author.

This book a the perfect balance of sweetness, romance and action. Evie and her brother own a bar next door to Vincent's bakery. The two of them have been dancing around a attraction for over a year. Once trouble finds Evie in the form of the Irish mob, Vincent steps in to help. We think Vincent is just a baker. He is so much more and proves it immediately. The plot was not very original but it worked so well with the characters. I loved Evie. She was a strong independant woman. She was a fighter. Yet, when she needed help, she took it. Once Vincent received the red light from Evie, he claimed her as his and protected her with everything he had. The romance went from 0 -100 in two pages but again it worked for this story. Plenty of action for those who like it with romance. Plenty of steam. Loved the characters, the interaction between the main characters and the action. We get a cute epilogue at the end

Well, I take this book because I have a soft spot for the SEALs, and that really piqued my curiosity a bad boy with a bakery, it's not very common and I wanted to see how this story would unfold. Although I must admit I would have liked to see a little more Vincent's skills as SEAL definitely enjoy his other skills.

The only detail that I have for objecting is that the 'Irish Mafia' which followed after Evey looked more like a gang of neighborhood than a mafia full-blown, but the story was quite fluid, with a touch of humor and with its fair share of drama.

I voluntarily read an Advance Review Copy of this book.

I loved this book. It was full of a great story and steam and suspense. Kept me on my toes. Loved Vincent and Evey. They were great together. I absolutely love me a NAVY Seal and add on top of that he can bake and he knows how to love a bigger woman. Girl yes sign me up!! Loved even the little Christmas story added in. It had nice suspense also. Can’t wait to finish Vincent’s sister Anna’s book. There was a few chapters in here and seems like it’s going to be good as well. I was drawn into both from the very beginning.

It bought laughter, tears, and whole range of emotions in between. Sometimes the good guy has to win. I was given this story for a honest review.
