This new series of childrens crafting books offers a variety of projects for children seven and older. Each book includes crafts at several levels of complexity for children of different ages and abilities. Some crafts are simple, hour-long creations, while others are two- or three-session projects. Concise wording and clear illustrations make the instructions easy for a child to follow, and a glossary and an illustrated tool page define any crafting terms or supplies with which a child is not familiar. All of the crafts have been kid-tested for comprehension and ability to complete the crafts with minimal adult guidance.

About the author

M. David Detweiler, a graduate of Yale University and former investigative journalist, lives in Harrisburg, PA. His grandfather is Civil War author Gen. Edward J. Stackpole. Detweiler also has authored the novels Evenings along the Stream, The Guide and the CEO, and The Tree of Life.


David Reisch, also a graduate of Yale University, lives near Harrisburg and has worked with Stackpole’s history line for 10 years. He has studied the Civil War since childhood and is a frequent visitor to Gettysburg.
