I’ve always loved dogs, which puts me in a unique category along with what, maybe two or three billion people?

What’s not to love about an animal who will sit in your living room all day long, waiting for you to get home, and even if you need to work late and then stop for a stress-relieving beverage on your way home, when you unlock that front door, is absolutely overjoyed to see you? How could you not adore an animal who senses when your day is not going well and tries to cheer you up by dumping a sodden tennis ball in your lap?

I was probably 8 years old, playing in the back yard of our house in Prairie Village, KS, when my dad opened the gate and in rushed a 9-week-old Labrador puppy. I fell to my knees and spread my arms and that dog leaped into them as if we had loved each other our whole lives. It’s a scene that shows up in A Dog’s Purpose—a puppy and a boy meeting each other the very first time, both of them full of unrestrained joy.

We named the dog Cammie. She arrived in my life when I was just beginning to connect some of the dots in my memory to make a picture of who I was, forming my identity as a child. I remember every skinned knee and bicycle ride in the context of Cammie, who was always there for me. And I lost her just as I was starting to leave childhood behind, passing on after I’d spent a year in college. That’s Cammie, the dog of my childhood.

Years later I was riding my bicycle in the mountains outside of Pine, CO. A chance decision to bounce down a dirt road led me past a few scattered ranches and one small house near a creek, set back from the road at least 50 yards. A single “woof” from a dog caught my attention, and I braked and stood in the dry, clear air, regarding the dog who had called out to me.

She was on a chain by the house, and a fence stood between us, so I remained on the road even though I could see that the dog, a black lab mix with a crazily active tail, was clearly friendly. I gazed at her and the dog sat, attentive, staring into my eyes exactly the way my first dog, Cammie, used to look at me, really seeing into me.

And that’s when the thought hit me. What if this wonderful dog was Cammie? What if dogs live over and over again, and always remember us?

I dismissed the thought, waved at the dog, and rode away, but days later the idea came back to me. What if?

I’ve been a writer my whole life, but never have I ever written anything as important as A Dog’s Purpose.

I can’t promise you that A Dog’s Purpose will make you love your dog more—how could it do that? But I’ll tell you what a lot of people have told me: after reading A Dog’s Purpose, you’ll never look at your dog the same way again.

Run, run, run!

Before she was rescued by her girl, Maggie Rose, Lily knew what it was like to be a stray. Now she helps out the kind people at the animal shelter run by Maggie Rose's mom. But whenever there's another animal in trouble, it's Lily to the rescue!

When they get the call about two piglets lost at a rest stop, Lily knows they need their mother. But no one knows where they came from. How will they ever find the piglets' mom?

A story of squeals and snorts. A tale of snouts and smells.

Sweet, easy going Lily was always up for meeting new playmates. Whether playing fair, chasing/coaxing cautious creatures to safety, or snuggling, the helpful pup was forever sharing her huge heart. It was so easy to love the intelligent, ever learning fur baby.

Clash! Dart! The supporting cast will have your heart from the start. Watching these energetic piglets, Scamper and Dash, bond with Lily as played melted my heart.

As they went around and around, friendship abounded as all of the souls from book one returned to take care of the piggies. So much trust, love, and affection flowed between Lily and her girl, Maggie Rose. However I was most excited by the cameo of a friend who I won't name because of the spoilers. Rest assured, these friendships will fly away with your heart.

Besides books, baby animals are my weakness. Wiggly, witty, and warm, Lily's adventures put the largest of smiles on my face. Coupled with the cutest illustrations, Lily to the Rescue: Two Little Piggies, effortlessly taught fairness, friendship, and team work. Peppered with facts about creatures of all kinds, W. Bruce Cameron's latest puppy tale is sure to entertain readers of all ages. Heartwarmingly adorable, I can't wait to read more.

Lily to the Rescue: Two Little Piggies will have you squealing with joy.

Of all the Puppy Tales stories of W. Bruce Cameron’s, this one is my favorite so far. The story of Lily, her girl, Maggie Rose, and the two piglets was sweet, and the illustrations were adorable. Cameron’s humor shines through, as always, and no one can get into a dog’s head like he can. Young readers should find this book both entertaining and informative.

REVIEW FROM MY DOG CASSIUS: This book was even more fun than the last! All my favorite characters are still around - Maggie, her parents, and Casey the crow. This time the team is called upon to rescue to baby pigs who have been dumped at a truck stop. And once they are rescued, the whole family has to pitch in to feed Scamper and Dash every two hours which wears everyone out. Not to mention how energetic the little piggies are. But never fear, Lily is there to help and she'll make sure the piggies are guaranteed to have a happily ever after.

Once again this book itself is quite pretty. They are wonderful grey-toned drawings which in this sequel, are mixed with orange to highlight the cover. I am a pup who does love details. My only complaint, and it has nothing to do with the book, is how many times Apollo has whined that he wants a baby piggy. He doesn't listen to me because I keep telling him we have a baby piggy - HIM!

If there are kids in your home, are just people who are kids at heart, this is a wonderful tale full of fun animals and a great family. Check the series out because I, Cassius Grey, say so!

First sentence: Snow had melted, the birds were in the trees, and I was in the backyard playing ball with my girl, Maggie Rose, her older brother Bryan, and her even older brother Craig.

Premise/plot: Lily's family goes to the rescue yet again in this installment of the series. This time, the family is responding to a call reporting PIGLETS found at a truck stop. With Lily's help, her family may just make it through this fostering experience.

My thoughts: I really enjoyed this one as I was reading it. Lily and her human family are so delightful that I wouldn't mind a hundred books. Even if they were all mainly same-same. Find an animal. Rescue an animal. Have Lily help out. Rescued animal finds a new home. The narrative style is so super cute and adorable.

I was so excited to receive an advance copy of "Lily to the Rescue, Two Little Piggies". Such a cute and funny children's book. I can't wait to read it to my Granddaughter (she is 14 months old). The story is told by Lily, who is a dog who helps her girl, Maggie Rose, and their family rescue animals. The rescue of the Piggies is a smart and sweet "mystery" that will keep kids AND parents interested. I loved that there are facts about the animals throughout the story. This story is great for boys and girls.

Cute story with cute drawings. Once again I learned something new from the last few pages that talk about pigs. I didn’t know that a weaned piglet is called a shoat or that wild pigs live in a group called a sounder. You can be relieved to know there is no discussion of what would have happened to these pigs elsewhere & they go somewhere they should be safe. Also no mention of Lily liking bacon. Just cuteness. And Casey makes a reappearance, so it might be best to read the books in order. This one is dedicated to Best Friends Animal Society (in Utah, I assume).

I enjoy reading this series with my 5 year old niece before bed. I read Lily’s parts, and she reads those of Maggie Rose. It’s amusing, because she asks so many of the same questions Maggie Rose does before she reads the words on the page.
She enjoyed this book, and has been very happy to continue reading books in this series. It’s not the best we have read in the set, but it’s solid. She enjoyed the illustrations.

Lily to the Rescue is a continuation to Lily Story. A puppy, a rescue puppy, named Lily her girl Maggie Rose, and her family are continuing to help animals:in this case two little piglets.
This is an absolutely delight. Kids and adults will absolute adore this book. I can’t wait to read more of Lily’s adventures in the future! Bruce Cameron has a magical way of telling a story!

Lily to the Rescue: Two Little Piggies. I was fortunate to receive an advanced readers copy, and I can't say how much I enjoyed it. It is charming, witty, and educational as well. It's written for children, but I admit to loving it also. The relationship between Casey the Crow and Lily is true friendship indeed. I highly recommend this books for animals lovers of all ages.

This is part of a series of chapter books for young readers. Lily is a rescue dog that lives with Maggie Rose, whose mother works for a rescue group. In this book, Lily helps rescue two piglets that have been separated from their mother. Although this is written for young readers, it is also very entertaining for readers of all ages!

I find the "Lily to the Rescue" series delightfully cute and the illustrations are so adorable! This quick read is perfect for kids and animal loving adults! At the end of each series, Cameron gives some facts about the main focused animals. Lily and her family are called to rescue some pigs from a highway store. Casey the crow adds to the excitement too!

For the intended audience this book provides both humor, compassion and good information. Being told from Lily’s perspective adds a bit more of all of this to the story.
