Thrust back in time by a horrible accident, Karin finds herself immersed in the mystery of reincarnation and the magic of the Scottish Highlands, at the center of a deadly cholera outbreak, and caught in a growing attraction to a man grieving his lost wife.
Karin thinks things can’t get any worse than being pregnant, dumped, and in trouble at work, but a car accident sends her back in time to ancient Scotland where she awakes battered and bleeding. Her initial distrust of the dark, brooding stranger who rescues her and treats her during her miscarriage soon changes to a strained attraction as she attempts to settle into her new reality including the threat of witch hunters and a overzealous English Lord.
William MacClaren lost his beloved wife in childbirth and fled to the cover of the priesthood to hide his alchemy and to grieve her loss. When he stumbles upon Karin, the reincarnation of his true love, the pull to her is impossible to deny but the pain of potentially losing her again is too much to risk.
When an outbreak of a deadly disease forces Karina and William to work together to save lives, they must confront their growing feelings for each other and find a way to work through their past hurts.

In my opinion the best book in the series. The plot was mostly driven by the protagonists rather than external conflicts or overly traumatic events. Also the MMC was so different from the previous heroes in this series that i could not resist reading more about this nerdy guy. Loved it.

Alpha Male🐺🔪 Adult Highlander Romance💕 and Adventure🔪 I kind of like most Highlander🐺🔪 time travel romances, but I felt this one spent too much time ( about 40%) with Karin💃💋, the time traveler, in denial of her new found circumstances.
Karin💃💋 has dreams of Maeve, her double in looks, and supposed ancestor, that lived in the 15th century. William🐺🔪, the dead woman's husband sees her as reincarnated somehow.
William🐺🔪 is an excommunicated priest, and an alchemist or apothecary, not a warrior, which is different than most other Highlander novels. He is also not the Laird of MacClaran castle🏰.
Karin💃💋 also meets several other time travelers at the same location, and they are all women, all ancestors of supposed witches, and all married to Highlanders🐺🔪 now.
How does Karin💃💋 start to fit in? William🐺🔪 realizes she isn't his dead wife brought back, but He still wants her. Karin💃💋 wants William🐺🔪 to see her for herself, even though She has some memories of Maeve, she is not her!
ARC Received from Booksprout🌱 I also got this book with KU.
IMHO, the book spends way too much time⏳ going over the time travel aspect of the story. At least Karin💃💋 doesn't dwell heavily upon going back to her own time, keeping that type of angst to a minimum. William🐺🔪 and Karin💃💋 didn't seem to have a real connection to each other, despite this being the theme of the book.
Every time I read a time travel romance, I always wonder what I would do if it was me....not being a nurse or some kind of scientist, I don't think I would do too well! lol I enjoyed reading William and Karin's story but I wish they would have spent more time together throughout the story. At 60% of the story, it seemed like they had only said a few words to each other. Apart from that, it was well written and it was fun to revisit the characters from the previous books as well:)
My heart went out to William...he had been so devastated by his wife's death 10 years earlier and when Karin appeared, she was the exact image of his wife so it's no wonder he was having such a hard time accepting that she was NOT his wife come back! As for Karin, suddenly finding herself back in time, it takes a while for her to adjust and to believe!! When they all work together to find a cure for what they believe to be cholera after some of the village people get sick, it really was marvellous how they were able to use what they had at hand to create a "modern" cure.
I received an ARC of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
So far I have enjoyed this series, all except this one. I despise when the author makes a character thoroughly unlikable. And this book had that. The female lead was plain and simple a jerk ( I toned it down I had another word) I mean that is like the real world. I don't read these books for the real world feel. There is enough not nice people in the real world that I DON'T want to read about it in a book. Bad guys yes but the supposedly good guys, NO I don't. So very disappointed in this book. Hopefully the next one will be better.
When I started reading this story, I could not put it down. I read the book in one day. This author is an awesome writer. I can not wait to read more of their books. Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.

I really enjoyed Karen & William's story. Great characters. They were both wounded so got a piece of my heart. Good book. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book via booksprout.
Karin had just been turned down for a promotion and that she is pregnant to boot when she has an accident and is transported back to 1400's in Scotland. William lost his wife in child birth 10 years ago and has never really gotten over it. When he finds a woman who looks just like her in the middle of nowhere. It's great to here how the other ladies are getting on when you read Karin story as she tries to fit in and help. Some parts are very touching with a few laughs and a romance that will touch all who read this great book.
I love getting to know new authors. Rebecca Preston has written this book on a trope I adore, a Highland story with a time travel twist. When I finished reading this book, I realized that it had much more potential with deeper and detailed scene descriptions. I did like the characters although they too could have been better developed so we know more about them. There are a few plot holes and loose ends that interrupted the enjoyment of the reading. I feel Karin's character would be improved with more kindness and less resentment. She resented her relationship with her ex Michael and her new found independence was taken out on poor William in a negative way. William's character also can be improved if he was not so morose and needy all the time. I felt bad for him but his dramatic ways were a little overboard. At the end I felt unsatisfied. There was no explanation or even a hint of why each of the women had been chosen to time travel. There was no explanation as to how it occurred. Then the fact of Karin's mind working with the concept of no longer being in Georgia but in Medieval Scotland. I understand fantasy but her thought process was less than realistic. Then Karin had two dreams of Maeve. The first one was discussed but the second one was mentioned as if it was important because it came during a crisis and yet the story did not provide anything more about it. I liked the secondary relationship between Karin and Sir Baldric which in turn positively influenced the strained relationship between the Scottish Laird Donal and the English Lord Weatherby. Overall the concept for the story is excellent. However, there is room for improvement and if that is achieved then the potential will increase.
This is more of an adventure story than a romantic one. Karin, an assistant lab technician at the CDC, has a car accident on her way home from work on a day she had a fight with her ex, and when she comes to she finds herself in Scotland, in the 15th century. The man who finds her was married to a woman who looked exactly like her, and was scientific like her. William decided to become a priest after losing his wife and child, but had recently had a change of heart and come home. There are others that came from the future at the castle, each replacing a relative, and marrying their spouse. Karin isn't interested in replacing William's wife, so she tries to avoid him. One day she was out riding and found that the local village is closed because too many of the people were sick, so she throws herself into discovering what is causing the illness, and what she can do to help. William happens to be an alchemist so he also is tryin to help, which has them working together to find a solution. Eventually she softens towards him, and he charms his way into her heart. An intriguing storyline and interesting characters make this a great read. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
Highlanders and time travel seem to go together. Karin is a modern woman who is thrust back in time and William is the highlander who finds/saves and falls in love with her. But Karin has trouble believing she traveled back in time, in spite of the everything she saw and did. William recognized her as his dead wife re-incarnated. There were other travelers around including characters from previous books, but you can read this as a standalone. I generally love anything time travel related because there are so many options for mistakes, misunderstandings and other tangles and I never skip a highlander novel. This was a good book and it could have been a great book. I didn't think the characters really "clicked" it seems like Karin in particular was just putting up obstacles. I guess if I'd been thrown back in time and my rescuer thought I was his dead wife I might be just as reluctant but it did make the story and little slow in spots. That being said, it was still a fun read and I enjoyed it. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
Highlander Fallen: Highlander In Time Book 5 By Rebecca Preston Kindle unlimited purchase William lost his faith when his wife died in childbirth. Hoping to get some of his faith back he became a priest. Back at the castle because he was excommunicated, full of grief and rage. Karin works for the CDC as a lab technician. She asked her boss for a raise and was denied. Now on her way home, she gets in a fight with her boyfriend and gets into a car accident and is thrown back to medieval Scotland. I had the pleasure of reading this series a while ago. And lost it somewhere along the way. Now that I found it again. I can't put it down. I recommend reading this series in order. Each book has it's own H and h, with a HEA, but the characters from other books are supporting charters in the readt of the series. Book 6 here I come. Highlander Found Highlander Warrior Highlander Protected Highlander Smitten Highlander Fallen Highlander Cursed Highlander Avenged Highlander Hunted Oct 21, 2020 Highlander Returned Jan 27, 2021
Another great book in this series I have read most of them and find thnm all gteat fun well researched and just a pleasure to read
This is Karin and William's story. She works for the CDC but her life is going off track not only as she found out she is pregnant but her boyfriend has ditched her and now she finds she isn't going to get the promotion she expected Then to top things off she has an accident which thrust her in 16th century Scotland. William lost his wife ten years ago and is stunned when he sees a woman the spitting image of her is it his wife returned to him. When disease breaks out in Castle MacClaren it will be up to apothecary William and Karin to save the people and in the process they will grow attached to one another but are the destined for a HEA You will need to read to see
Can two wounded souls find happiness together? This is another really interesting time-travel historical and it is so good. Scotland 1500’s is not a place I really want to be but that is where Karin ends up. William our scot is a widower who not only lost his wife but the child also. That is not all you are in for some really cool twists and turns. This is written so well with marvelous characters there is such a depth of feelings of loss for both characters. It was a very engaging story. I highly recommend this gem.
Romance, time travel and the Highlands? Yes please! Add true love that trancends time and space and you have an amazing story. As with all Rebecca Preston's books in the series, I devoured this one. Excellent characters, captivating storyline, plot twists that kept me engrossed throughout reading. If you like time travel romances set in the Highlands, I highly recommend you grab all the books in the series!

As I started the book. I thought it was just another story in the series that had the same old plot. As I read, it took a direction that captured my attention and took the same old story in an interesting vein. I liked the series even though it wasn't Outlander and I'm glad I found this collection. This could be a stand alone book but starting with book 1 would give better.
There were a few typos or errors but I just overlooked them so I didn't wreck my enjoyment.
I have love these books. It’s like coming back to family. Others may tell you the stories. I am not as good as the author. I tell you the emotions. And this book is filled with emotions. Suppressed romantic interludes. Strong characters. A real family. You are most hate the book to end. And at the end you’re sorry that it doesn’t go farther. Do not miss this book.
This is another good addition to the series, modern day women pulled back in time and having to cope living in medieval Scotland. Great attention to detail, the characters are fun and three dimensional. I struggle slightly with the modern conveniences the women are able to create, but it remains fun and quirky to read. All in all I really like this series and Karin and William's story is no exception to the rule.
This is a new Author to me and I will be reading the other books in this series called Highlander in Time. Once I started reading this book I was not putting it down. Karin has a car accident and gets sent back to ancient Scotland where grieving widower William MacClaren saves her. They will have to go through a lot to get there happy ending. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A time travel romance with nice storyline and plot. I think it lacks depth to it. It is to shallow both on the characters and the story. The characters are defined a bit off. But it is a story that has potential to be a lot better if it got more depth and the author described characters and some scenes better. I like the romance and it could be improved to become a great story. Highlands and time travel mixed always makes a nice story.
I liked this book, but almost didn’t finish it because of the language in the first of the book, but it cooled off and Karin and William won my heart and approval. Those diseases were hard and I bet some died from Juvenile Diabetes because they didn’t have ways to check blood sugar. I had 2 children become Juvenile diabetics and it was still hard in the early ‘70’s.
Yes, I was sceptical about a book featuring the results of someone who traveled to the past. So pleasantly surprised by this story. It held the unbelievable questions in the traveler's mind, the challenges of the unavailable necessities, and a beautiful love story. Before I knew it the end was here and now I want to continue reading Rebecca Preston's books. Great read.
This was a good read. I enjoyed this time travel romance and William, its swoon worthy hero. I grew to like Karin but I will be honest, it took time. I thought the story line was quite engaging and their was plenty of emotional tension as fate brought these two wounded hearts together. This is my voluntary, candid review.
Book five in the series and this one is William and Karin's story. It's a sad and sweet story with good developed characters and a feel of real life situations and people. It was nice to catch up with the previous characters and see how they are surviving, I would recommend you read this series in order.

I enjoyed this time travel romance. The author has given us everything needed for the story - sorrow, some danger, and a sweet romance. The characters are good but could have been a little more developed and also could have spent more time together.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Karina is taken back in time when she has a horrible wreck causing her to miscarry her baby. William finds a karina who looks like his dead wife that died in childbirth. And even though he tries to stay away from her and heartache, love prevails. Good strong characters and an interesting story.

The club of the Displaced women was getting bigger with Karin Alderson. Her passion for her work led her to face risks but was rewarded. Liked how the issue of disease control was developed. instructive, interesting and witty. Read some time ago Aurina, Cora and Marianne’s stories and enjoyed these smart and fiery women. Suspense, action, drama, strong emotions and passion, all the things I like.
Karin is the 5th and new time traveler to fall into Scotland at this dark or middle-ages, witch hunting era. She is a CDC scientist . Fourtunitly with the new help of an Alchemist she might be able to make a cure. I' liked the book a lot there are sad parts suspension, jealousy, hate, and stupidness. All the feelings one can have in a good book .
Time is running around in circles. She has a life, a screwy one but she is comfortable in it. When she wakes in a different time, she doesn't know what happened. A great writer can make you fall into the story and this series has done exactly that for me. I want to stay in the story.
ARC review For honest review. Karin Anderson worked for the CDC and finds she is having a bad day after learning she not getting promoted ,pregnant , losing her boyfriend then a accident that she finds herself in castle macclran in the 1500's. what a Awesome story
Very good not to long not to short really gripping would like to read more details on the couple before they get together like looks and them talking but otherwise brilliant
