Jace Crenshaw

As Vice-President of the Slate Mountain Wolf Pack, I was second-in-command of our pack of wolves. Only those outside our club thought I was a constant jokester who rode on my Harley all day. Nothing was more important to me than the honor of guarding our town. When Ethan, our club president, requested I work with Sheriff Fulton, I ran a little test first. I didn’t trust the sheriff who’d been harassing us for years, and he needed to prove himself. Until one night his scent changed, followed quickly by my opinion of him and my own life. Now nothing was more important than figuring out who had our town, including my sheriff, under siege.

Liam Fulton

As Slate Mountain’s Sheriff, nothing was more important to me than the people of this town. Following the mayor’s orders, I kept a special eye on the criminal biker gang, the Slate Mountain Wolf Pack. When their VP, Jace, approached me, I was suspicious until I began seeing with my own two eyes that things in Slate Mountain weren’t as they appeared. On a fact-finding mission to save our LGBT+ youth, my view was forever altered. If the awe-inspiring truth Jace ended up sharing wasn’t enough, is it possible that magick truly exists here in our small town? And if so, why has someone set out to make sure I never discover it?

Welcome to Slate Mountain where magic and motorcycles roam the streets, love flows as pure as mountain spring water, and the wolves are always guarding the door.

Half Moon Above is a 34,000 word novella featuring an M/M romance and an HEA. It is the second book in a four-part series set in the same world, and while each book focuses on a different couple, the overall story arc continues on in the next installment. It is recommended the books be read in order.

Sammi Cee was raised in a family of readers. Summer vacations consisted of a good book while sitting lakeside from as far back as she could remember. After growing up and having her own children, her appreciation of how the written word could transport you on an adventure, bring you to tears, or give you hope, took on a whole new meaning.

These days Sammi is watching her children develop into fine young ladies while doing the things she enjoys most: drinking coffee, eating chocolate, and writing her own stories.

I actually liked this one better than the first which is surprising since I’m not a huge fan of enemies to lovers troupe. However, it’s not really played out all that well so I guess that’s why. But, I loved Jace and Liam as a couple and was a bit shocked at a particular reveal.

I’ll definitely continue the series. They’re sweet mate stories and easy, quick reads.

The sheriff and the wolf

Things aren't all as they seem in Slate Mountain town. Evil forces want to run the wolf pack out and take over. Sheriff Liam has loved his small town his whole life but he's about to discover a heritage that he knew nothing about - and it's going to start with one dangerously hot and cheeky, vice-president of that wolf pack, Jace.

This is the second book in the series and the was just as entranced as in the first one. I'm loving to get to know more about the wolf pack and their history in this town and now we get to add in the local witch coven. I'm seriously looking forward to the next installment in this story and in finding out more about the mysteries that surround this quaint town. Love this!

3.5 stars. Better than the first but both were not bad. Interesting story, a nice little plot twist and the promise of more. The only thing that cracks me up is when they address each other as mate. I instantly think Australian...

I'm clearing drafts from On Top Down Under. This review was written in April of 2019 but never published on the site. I'm publishing it here instead.

This book really can't be read as a standalone. Note that my review has spoilers from the first book.

I met Jace and Liam in Under A Full Moon. I loved Jace and despised Liam. I went into this book with an open mind about the sheriff but not overly hopeful. I was pleasantly surprised. What I saw as Liam being an obnoxious cop on a power trip was really a man who wanted to do right for the town but forced to believe things told to him by his superiors. He saw exactly what the powers that be wanted him to see. Sure, he should've done some research on his own, but he thought he was doing right by the people and the law.

Jace is the VP of the Slate Mountain Wolf Pack Motorcycle Club. Jace has a sweet tooth (donut holes) and likes to joke around and is kind of the class clown of the bunch without being annoying. I found him to be quite charming. He's also very serious when he needs to be especially when it comes to the pack and protecting the town. Jace, like pretty much everybody else in the pack, sees Sheriff Liam Fulton as being in bed (figuratively speaking) with the corrupt mayor and the bigoted pastor, Joyce. Brice, the alpha's new mate, convinces the group that Liam is a good guy and he just needs to be told the truth of what's going on. Ethan, the alpha, puts that job on Jace, who's been butting heads with the sheriff for years.

Jace's wolf gets antsy around Liam, something Jace doesn't understand. They're usually in sync but not when the good sheriff's around. That is, until Liam is attacked and Jace takes him to his house to nurse him back to health. Only after Liam takes a quick bath does his scent slam into Jace and his wolf is internally screaming, "Mate! Mine!"

He's smelling the mate scent now, but why not in all the times they'd been around each other before? That part is pretty easy to figure out to the reader if you really pay attention.

The homeless problem from book #1 is getting worse. The pack knows it's because of Pastor Joyce and what he's teaching his congregation. Only when Liam is forced to actually look at the situation does he see that it's worse than the corrupt mayor said it was. It also doesn't take long before he knows beyond doubt that the Slate Mountain Wolf Pack aren't the violent criminals he's always been led to believe. The mayor expects him to run the MC out of town. After the good he's seen that they've done Liam knows the mayor has his own agenda.

Another thing of note (that's really quite important to the story) is that Liam has been having strange dreams his whole life and he knows it has something to do with the town. He was born there but his parents yanked him away and moved him somewhere else before his teen years. He came back home relatively recently and became the sheriff.

The dreams and reasoning behind him being forced to leave are explained.

I enjoyed this. I even ended up really liking Liam when I despised him in the last book. One thing I really liked about the way he was written is that he knew he was gay. He doesn't suddenly discover his love for men simply because of Jace. I've read a lot of those books lately so I was glad to see that wasn't the case here. I felt bad because he'd been in the closet, but he remedied that pretty quick once he saw Jace for who he really was.

I ended this with a few questions that will hopefully be answered in future books. There's a major twist at the end that I admit I didn't see coming. I had a couple of issues with that. One, Liam kinda jumped in with gusto, not really even questioning things I believe he should've questioned. And, two, someone in town knew Liam's secret (that he didn't even discover until much later). Knowing it - and who Liam really was - you'd think that someone would've tried to have him removed as soon as he came back to town so that he would never have contact with Jace. By pushing him to rid the town of the motorcycle club, he was pushed front and center in front of the VP often.

I know I'm not making sense if you've not read the book. Sorry.

Liam and Jace went from being enemies to a couple pretty quick. I get Jace because he discovered Liam was his mate. I just had a hard time reconciling the 'lock 'em away and throw away the key' Liam with one who accepted who and what Jace was so easily. It was nice to not be overloaded with drama, but I wish there would've been a few more pages/details added.

Overall, a nice and surprising read. I'm now curious to see how things play out, especially now that we know the who and the why.

This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

A great follow up to book on of this series. Really enjoyed the characters and their interactions as well as the world that Sammi Cee and Michelle Frost have created. There's more going on than we could have imagined at Slate Mountain and the authors give us the chance to learn through the MC's and their experiences in this story.
Jace and Liam were at odd in the first book and nothing has changed when things start out at the beginning of this book. But once forced to talk about the growing issues in the town, they learn more about each other and the possible future that they have. Even though this is a shorter book, we still get a lot of information on both men and the overall story arc that plays out over the series. There's clear attraction between the two and once their barriers come down, their connection shines through.
We still get to interact with other members of the pack, including Ethan and Brice from books one. I loved the last few chapters, giving us even more to look forward to in future books in this series.
Highly recommend this book and the series. It's possible to read as a stand alone but I would say it'd help to read the books in order.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

✔ Letto in lingua originale!

Per me è ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ e 💋

Absolutely LOVED it!

I really enjoyed book one and book two is even better. I actually screamed “NO!!” out loud when it ended! I need book three NOW! (I’m feeling a bit like Veruca Salt!!)

This second book in the Slate Mountain series gives us the story of Jace and Liam and further advances the story arc established in book one. We get more background information on the Slate Mountain area and it’s history and key information about Pastor Joyce. There is one extremely compelling development that really ratchets up my excitement for book three.

I was completely caught up in this story and in these characters. The author has built an interesting world here and I can’t get enough. Highly recommend.

**The books have to be read in order in order to fully understand the story arc.**

I'm absolutely in love with this series. Each book centers on a different couple while continuing the story of Slate Mountain. Jace is the right hand man to the Alpha of Slate Mountain Wolf Pack. Liam is the Sheriff of the town. He's always thought of the Wolf Pack as nothing but trouble, so suffice it to say that learning about werewolves and that he's Jace's mate is quite a shock. Seeing their story develop was really sweet and I loved how Liam was able to realize the truth about his misconceptions regarding Jace. Young people from town are still showing up at the help center. We learn that Liam has a connection to the town's past and will play an important role in helping to heal Slate Mountain. I can't wait to continue this story and see how it ends.

This is getting so good

I can't believe I waited so long to come back to this series. I loved the first book. I'm glad in a way because now I get to devour the whole series. I loved Brice and Ethan but Jace and Liam are a whole different story. I thought Liam was a jerk at first but he was hiding a big secret. One that he didn't even know about. I loved how Jace softened toward Liam and I loved how they didn't fit the stereotypical mold of biker and mate. They were much more evenly matched. I really enjoyed the revelation of Liam's past and powers. I really can't wait to see what's next for these guys.

I liked Jace and Liam together. And I actually found the twist on why Jace didn't recognize Liam as his mate right away to be a kinda cool one. It let this work as a kind of enemies to lovers story despite their being mates and the instalove of it all. The world gets expanded a little bit in this one as we learn of Liam's family history and we get a reason for all of what's going on with the pastor.

I like this story for all that they're short novellas the details are there and I'm invested in this biker gang and how determined they are to protect their home. And I enjoyed Liam realizes that Jace and the rest of his crew really aren't bad guys despite his preconceived notion.

Great sequel in the series

Liam and Jace, were at odds and enemies in the first book, but it quickly changed here and I loved it.

I really enjoyed the reluctant Trust that quickly transformed.

The love between these two was very sweet and nice to read.

The plot in itself thickened and I am really hoping to get the next book soon to see what's in store for these two men and the rest of the wolf pack

Fated Mates- Shifter MM Romance

3 stars!

Book 2 picks up where book 1 left off but is introducing a new fated mate pair. Here we have a bit of enemies to lovers style drama. I know fated mates books often feel unrealistic due to the rapid timelines and this was no different.

I found this book could have used another round of editing but overall, it was a good story and I'm curious to see how the overarching storyline plays out.

There, the second one was a bit better. Still the same issue, too much stuffed into a novella. Why not make it a book and go a bit more into detail and development of the story? Loved that the mean Sheriff Liam has a softer side and a secret, that even he didn't know about. The sex with Jace is hot, once they get there.

It's a quick and easy read. Best to read these novellas back to back to get the most out of the story. Not sure if I will continue though.

Wonderful second installment

Whilst I enjoyed book one in this series, I loved book two. The action picked up and the focus was more on Jace and Liam and the wolf pack rather than the other town characters and it was great to get really embedded in what’s happening to Slate Mountain. I’m really looking forward to the next book.

Oddly Intriguing Romance

This is definitely a serial novel so you best start at book 1 and read your way through. This book continues the saga, with more detail and new characters, opening up more possibilities in Slate Mountain. It ends on a positive note, anticipating more story but leaving the reader hanging.

This is the 2nd book in the Slate Mountain Wolf Pack series. Liam has always that that the Wolf Pack was up to no good. Jace cant understand why one minute smell something wonderful and the next it is gone on the wind. There a huge mystery surrounding the town and slowly becoming unravel. Cant wait for the next book to see what the family does next. Highly recommend this book and series

I’m so glad I gave this series another chance. I feel like we are getting pieces of the puzzle in each book and I’m looking forward to how it comes together. There is still so much we don’t know and a lot of holes to fill just from this book. Jace and Liam were great together though and I’m really hoping to see more of them in the future.

This was so enjoyable. The sheriff and Jace had started out as enemies and slowly but sweetly they soon became mates. This story was well written and the plot was intriguing and unexpected. There were many twists and turns along the way and the mating ceremony was just beautiful. I'm looking forward to the next installment. I loved it. =)

fantastic

Such a great story that is hard to put down. Jace and Liam love story takes a lot of twist and turns. As the storyline continues from the first book you get more and more information and keeps you guessing what’s going to happen next. Looking forward to to the next one in the series.

Great back story

This is book 2. I took it on my read for free option, because I've been disappointed too many times when I purchase a second book in a series. This was not a disappointment .

The Background story seems to be getting better with each book. I will be purchasing the next installment. Hopefully it will keep a quality storyline.

Secret Chemistry

Jace and Liam had this secret kind of chemistry where you know an enemy to lovers has to be explosive but no one knew except Jace's wolf. I enjoyed seeing Jace and Liam get over their differences in order to come together. I also liked the twist of magic being thrown into the series.

I liked this installment better than the first one. This story was pure romance and I’m always weak for enemies to lovers. This story had feel-good vibes that made it an easy read. There was a sprinkle of world building in this book with the addition of itches and new truths for our team of characters.

This one was slightly more interesting mostly because we learn a bit more about what's going on with Pastor Joyce and the Mayor, but also because of the revelation with Liam. The plot in this one felt like it flowed a little better, although there were still plenty of instances of poot grammar/spelling (surer?).
