But one of the humans, Kenna, won’t give up on him, not even when he’s grievously inured in battle. It takes seeing her dancing with another warrior to get his ass into gear, but before he can claim her unusual readings in a far flung terran system have them heading on on a mission for the Emperor himself. What they find is a disturbing debris field, a colony with more secrets than members and a hidden enemy. Hitched to the Alien General is book eight in the Warriors of the Lathar by Mina Carter.

This is one story I’ve been waiting for since book one. Xaandril and Kenna have been featured as minor roles and this is their time to shine.

Xaandril is the Emperor’s personal bodyguard and Champion. Kenna is a Terran Marine and has been training the Lathar in Tarran hand to hand fighting.

The Emperor requests that Xaandril and Kenna take a look at some unusual things out in Taran space. What they discover is another alien race bent on eating its victims alive and human pirates luring in unsuspecting travelers plus a few more surprises.

Xaandril and Kenna have been dancing around each other and now they must work together and confront their attraction. I liked how this one played out. I also liked that it took most of the book for these two to become a couple. The romance and dance was well worth the wait.

Hitched to the Alien General was another solid read full of mystery, suspense, action and romance. If you’re a SciFi Alien Romance fan then you might enjoy the Warriors of the Lathar series.

Kenna has been attracted to General Xaan, the emperor's champion, since she joined the Lathar, but he hasn't given he much attention, other than wearing her token during battle. Part of that is because he feels undeserving after his near-death accident and feels that Kenna deserves a whole, strong warrior. But soon enough, he's done waiting and ready to claim her. But the emperor sends them on a mission to investigate some strange readings. When they arrive, they find a colony that was calling for distress and soon discover a bigger problem. All the while, Kenna and Xaan are dying to be together but circumstances never seem to allow it. Xaan needs to claim the woman he loves before anything can happen to them with the danger they're in.

This was a pretty good installment. I pick up each one of these with a certain amount of trepidation waiting to see if there's going to be an overly dominant Lathar paying no heed to his woman's consent and more or less turning from a badass marine into a feminine arm-ornament who accepts his protection. That's what I've been seeing lately and I don't like it. But this one breaks that formula and introduces a pretty fantastic adventure/action plot as well. Kenna and Xaan have little in the way of romantic tension except for at the very beginning and then all the UST comes from circumstances not allowing their coming together. But I don't know that the romantic tension was necessary given the suspense of the action plot. When they arrive at the colony they find that the colonists are actually scavengers who killed off the old colony (except the women) and they're luring in ships to do the same to them. Xaan is taken prisoner and Kenna has to work out a way to rescue him while keeping the leader complacent with her. Then, the colonists discover a man-eating Krin, who terrorizes the colony and puts everyone's life at risk. It was non-stop excitement I tell you, with Kenna and Xaan working together seamlessly and without any inability to trust a female feelings coming from Xaan. This way of doing things made me see Kenna and Xaan as more than just a sexual pairing and more as a couple. The only complaint I maybe have is that their first and only sex scene together comes pretty much in the middle of their dealing with the Krin...countless people dying and horrors galore the previous night, but Kenna and Xaan take a few hours that day and sex it up, before the Krin is dead. I couldn't make the switch from horror to sex/romance that fast (and knowing they had more to come that night) to really engage with it. I would have preferred the sex come AFTER the Krin was destroyed and they'd gotten home. But that's just a small issue. Everything else about this book was quite enjoyable. I'm now wondering if the robot is gonna get her own story.

As Emperor Daaynal K'Saan's personal bodyguard & Champion, General Xaandril M'rlin is responsible for the ongoing health, well being, and safety of the Emperor. Though a certain Terran has been on his mind for some time he can't act on that interest as his duty to the Emperor is a 24/7 obligation.

Kenna Reynolds, Terran Marine, serves as a military consult/trainer on Lathar in the Emperor's military. Seems the aliens are very interested in primitive Terran hand to hand fighting techniques and willing to learn from a Terran female. All but a certain stubborn stand offish stick-in-the-mud General.

When abnormal activity and strange readings are picked up originating from an outer colony system, Kenna & Xaan are charged with checking things out in a long range Scouter Ship. A ship where the occupants will be forced to get close and personal as space is limited.

When the two discover a suspicious primitive settlement that had been broadcasting a distress beacon call, General Xaan decides that the two should go undercover, posing as a married couple, to check things out.

Not all is as it seems as the settlement population seem to be keeping secrets and the settlement's leader singles out Kenna personally.

* * * *

In this the 8th installment in the "Warriors Of The Lathar" series, which can be read as a stand alone, another Lathar/Terran couple are featured. I do want to include for those who are on a need to know basis, though this story does include erotica content, for the most part it's a SciFi alien romance that supports multiple c*ck blocking scenes leading up to the two sealing the deal. In other words, don't grab this one if your sole reason is smut in your reading.

Xaan & Kenna. Both have been featured in minor supporting cast status in earlier works of the series. This is now their time to shine as the two are forced to team up to investigate a potential problem. Just coincidence I think that the Emperor was the one who charged them with that assignment, maybe as a sort of matchmaker?

Secondary characters. Characters from previous installments do return in varying degrees. Not a deal breaker if you haven't read previous books in the series as the author did a great job in referencing their role in the overall world building spectrum.

Though the story had a few problematic issues for me, overall a solid read for fans of SciFi alien romance that enjoy and appreciate mystery, suspense, and action/adventure.

I enjoyed all the stories of the women but I have to admit, except for the first the military women's stories were the best. They are just so capable and really do not need rescuing, not that the other women really needed it either. It is so much fun to see the reaction of the warriors to capable women.
The writing as always is crisp and the action flows nonstop.

What a fun and enjoyable read!
The plot was entertaining and thrilling. I was glued to my kindle and couldn‘t stop reading. In general this is a really good alien romance series worth reading.
Kenna and Xaandril were one of my most anticipated couples and I loved them. They have great tension and both have mutual respect for each other.
All in all this was a good alien romance.

The Lathar Warriors has been so fun to read I've enjoyed all the books in the series. Mina Carters latest release in this series I've been dying for.

I just love Xaandril! and Kenna just rocks. Watching them together was a blast they're tête-à-tête, they're having a chance to get to know each other. Both their personalities come out and it was a delight to watch them grow. Kenna so sassy and Xaan not sure what to do with her but was sure no one else was touching her.

The King sees all and has maneuvered his champion and the sassy human together in close quarters, it just made me laugh because I remember the Kings story. Now Xaan and Kenna as a mystery to solve, space debris that tells a tell. Read and find out what and what they will face as their journey moves along.

He waited to claim her because he was badly injured and didn't want her to have a warrior who wasn't the best fighter.

SPOILER SPOILER PSOILER

The colony was taken over by "scavengers" and then a Krin (evil alien who eats people alive) was there too.

Could not put this down till it was finished.
It is great to get Xaandril and Kenna’s story at long last. And boy what a story it was. My skin is still crawling from reading about the Krin.
Having read the whole series, I know who these two are in their own respective lives. To new readers, Kenna is a human female Marine now living with the Lathar. She is smart, sensible and has had the hots for Xaandril from first sight.
Xaandril is the Emperor’s Champion, a General and one of the most respected and decorated of warriors, second only to the Emperor himself. He was mated many years previously and widowed but knew Kenna was his from the first time he disarmed her when she was holding a weapon to the head of one of his men. He had planned to make her his but was badly injured and feels less than deserving of this beautiful warrior woman.
Though not a lot of time for romance between these two, we have to remember they have been dancing around each other for a while, so this story really does just push their mating into being.
Once Xaandril gets jealous and declares Kenna is HIS, they keep getting blocked from consummating their mating due to lots of factors interrupting. One of which is a mission for the Emperor, which leads to lots of complications.
Loved the whole colonists plotline and what was going on and how this played out very well.
Xaan’s instincts were right and Kenna owed him an apology.
Liked Stephen and Keris being in the story.
A few sad unwanted deaths but too many ones that got what they deserved.
This is my honest review of this book.

I cried 😭

**I recommend you to read the previous books or the first book first. There are character interactions that will make this book more enjoyable. ***
(I read book 1, then this and then book 3.) 🤣

It was SO GOOD!
Fated mates❤️😩
Neither are virgins
1 smex scene + many make out scenes
Size difference ❤️😩
Age gap❤️😩 (older hero)
The hero has a kid. (Kid is already a grown ass man with a mate of his own)
Him having a grown ass child didn’t take anything away from the story.
His kid is from an Oonat. (Because he needed a heir)
(It makes me want to give all those other books that I avoided reading with pre-started families a chance 🤔)

I don’t read books with child-from-previous relationships but this one is an exception.
The hero’s ex-wife(died many many years ago) was a selfish woman who would run away herself and leave her daughter to die during crisis 🙄🤦‍♀️

Their interactions are beautiful!
Especially when the hero pour his heart out and let the heroine know how much she means to him and how he cannot live without her ❤️😭

I would absolutely recommend it!

Wow
I just realized my first book with a pre-started family heroine was also written by this author! 😱❤️👌🏼

Another great Lathar romance!

I really enjoy this series and was glad to see the hero and heroine finally get together in this story. He’s the Emperor’s champion General and she’s a tough human Marine. When they are sent by the Emperor to check out an anomaly they run into a problem on a distant colony planet and it will take all their wits and love to save themselves.

Did not finish at 62%. I have reached the end of my patience with this book. The premise is solid, the world building is interesting, and the relationship has possibilities. However, this author could have used a really good editor to make these characters more internally consistent. Both of them have very similar issues. They are contradictory and confusing.

The guy is super insecure about himself and whether he’s worthy of the heroine. His friend has been telling him to make a move but he’s held back. And then he says this crap. As if he wasn’t holding back out of fear. All of his self talk doesn’t make him seem strong… it makes him seem to have low self esteem and confidence.

“The males in these ‘rom-coms’ seemed to be clueless with females, only realizing the perfect female was right there after events forced them to. They’d only proved to him that human males weren’t fit to reproduce. Any Latharian warrior would have taken one look at the female and done everything he could to claim her. None of this commitment-phobic behavior that almost caused the female to walk away forever.”

The heroine is undercover as a sweet innocent but then decides to challenge another woman and go “street” on her but doesn’t want to look “too tough” cause then maybe the enemy would know that she is a marine.

“Kenna sighed, pushing away from the table and surging to her feet in a burst of movement. ‘Yeah, right? You got a problem wi’ me, bitch?’ she snarled, going from nice to street in a heartbeat.”

What!? Especially, when this is followed by:
“She had to lose. But convincingly.” And “Does Suzie look like a marine to you? You just about beat the crap out of her. Would you be able to do that to a battle-hardened veteran?”

Why would it be worth it to possibly break her cover? Seems stupid.

The hero bad talks his dead wife (so not necessary): “What he felt for the human woman, a warrior like him, was sharp and immediate—stronger than anything he could ever remember feeling for Laryssa.”

Why can’t the first relationship be what it was? The first thing he murmurs to the heroine when they are entering into their relationship is how his dead wife was substandard. Ewww. Why!? It would have been a fine convo to have with his buddy, but not his love interest.

This could’ve been a good book but it really need some more work. It’s muddled and confusing.

Ok, I've read enough of this series to be able to write a pretty good somewhat overall review of it. There is definitely a formula to this author's writing. Not very original. The sex scenes are basically all the same thought out the books. There's little originality when it comes to the thoughts of the characters, as well as some of the phrases she consistently uses in the books. Pretty sure "stiff rod of his dick" can be said in many other ways, but nope, the author chose to stick to that one, over and over again. Also, it's very clear the author is not from the US, which is fine, UNLESS you want your books to be neutral. I mean, she doesn't specifically say the characters are US based, however, being a former US Marine myself .... yeah, you can't have them walk like a duck and look like a duck, only to have them BLODDY quack like a moose, know what I"m saying ?

As far as this book goes though, not the best of the bunch. I skimmed over a few chapters because I thought they were kinda boring. The whole "hold that thought" when it came to their relationship advancing got old real quick. It was just meh for me. The only one I'm willing to read, if she ever publishes it, is the Emperor's story, and that's a big MAYBE.

Xaandril is the Emperors Cheif Guard and bestie! But something, or should I say, someone, keeps distracting him. Kenna is an Earth female warrior. A Marine, why would she want a broken warrior, one he believes is past his best? She could have any warrior she wanted. So why is he hell-bent on keeping the favour she presented to him months ago?!?!

Kenna only wants Xaan. He sets her blood on fire and ignites a passion she didn't plan on! But he also blows hot and cold and she's getting whiplash trying to keep up! So when the emperor sets them up on a joint mission, they'll have to work together.

Crashlanding into a colony wasn't part of the plan. But neither was finding a secretive group of colonists and a big, big secret!. Add in some worrying readings and Xann is about to have an up close and personal encounter with the same beast that killed his family!

Poor Xaan gets c'#kblocked several times, it really does add to the sexual tension as you can feel his frustration coming off the page! Kenna isn't about to let him off easy though and she can give as good she gets.

Love me some Lathar Hotties!!

I absolutely loved this story!! It was a fantastic and fun read. I loved the characters. We've seen Xaan and Kenna from the beginning of the series. They have been dancing around each other since then. It was great getting to see them finally get together and take that chance. Kenna was ready but didn't know what was going on with Xaan as he was blowing hot and cold. Xaan reaches his breaking point early on in this story and they are ready to get together but they keep getting interrupted and then sent on a mission together. This story has plenty to hold your attention from beginning to end. There is action, intrigue and the romance relationship. I loved the banter between the two of them. Kenna is not a pushover and Xaan loves her strength but he also wants to protect her. I loved the balance that he found with that. It was very well done! I'm super excited to see what comes next and to get to jump back into this world!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

"They could work anything out if they both wanted it enough,"

Kenna, a human Marine, and Xaan, the Emperor's Champion, have been in a lot of the previous stories, but here they come center stage. Kenna doesn't need to be protected, yet having someone who both respects her as a Marine, and wants to protect her intrigues her... and she's the first to admit she's only ever had eyes for Xaan.

Xaan thought he understood the path he and Kenna were on... then he was grievously injured and nearly died. He'll never be the warrior he once was... he still wants Kenna, but is he still worthy of her?

This done in one story challenges each character to appreciate one another, to realize they have gotten to know one another through their friendship, have looked beneath the surface, see one another for who they are at heart. I lived watching them on this adventure, though it did get a bit more gruesome in some of the fight scenes than I anticipated.

I am so happy that Mina Carter has new Lathar Warrior books out this year. Xaan and Kenna's story was so enjoyable. Love the Lathar Warriors, they are so protective without being overbearing. The human women are finding that even though they can be protective of their mates they still let them do their jobs even if that means they have to go into danger as in this book. Kenna and Xaan have gone on a mission together and run into a bit of a problem with nasty human scavengers who will think nothing of killing anything that gets in their way. The planet Kenna and Xaan have landed on holds more danger than just the human scavengers it has a dangerous alien species which gives even a Lathar Warrior little hope of escape. A big thank you to Mina Carter for the wonderful review copy. I am also a verified purchase and put a pre-order on the next book which is out soon.

Finally wised up

Kenna had fantasized about Xaandril ever since she saw him. But he never acknowledged her as a woman just as a soldier. Then she was sent on a mission together with him. The emperor was playing cupid, knowing that they were fated mates. Xaandril was afraid that she wouldn't want a scarred up, damaged warrior. Oh, how wrong he was! They ended up on a colony planet of mercs. Kenna found a mass grave hidden behind a hill. What did that mean? And a Kirn shows up and what the hell was that about? You will have to read the book to find out how they get off the planet. And how Xaandril gets mating marks around his wrists. What do those mean? I dearly love this series and each book is better than the last one. You can't go wrong with any of Mina Carter's books. But they are for adults only! Oh, goody!

The two main characters in this are Xaan - Xaandril general of the Latherian forces and Kenna Reynold a marine from earth.
Daaynal K'Sann Warrior Emperor of the Lather just happens to be Xaan's best friend. He has seen how the two look at look at each other when the other isn't looking or they think no one else is to but nothing gets by him. So he after an odd reading comes in he think it's a great plan to sent both Xaan and Kenna out together to see about the odd reading. Small mission, small ships, Close Quarters in might spark something. It's the best thing to speed this courtship along. Only this small missing turns into something much much more !
OMG! What action, drama, mystery, betrayal, spice, and twist. I couldn't put it down and didn't want it to be over! This was awesome. A science fiction romance not to be missed. Voluntarily review a copy and I honestly loved it

YEAH! Finally we get to find out what happens with General Xaandril and Kenna. The brooding General held out so long I was wondering if Kenna was going to give up. Thank goodness she didn’t. Xaan and Kenna have meant to be together since the beginning of the series. It just took them this long to get there.
Just when you think everything is falling into place, “BAM” a mission comes up. It’s always something distracting them from finally being together. At least Xaan is starting to show true feelings for Kenna. I have to say that the mission they are sent on is crazy. I didn’t even expect any of what happened. It’s amazing what is out there in space. Beyond that, these two burn hot and I am sooooooooo glad we got their story. I did cry though, so have some tissue. I can’t wait to read the next in the series, “Alien Warrior’s Secret.”

Finally accepting

It has taken months for him to accept that she wants him. The emperor send them on a mission. A ditress signal happens and the go to it. Well it was a fake , he was capture, and she was trying to free him. She was caught trying to find a radio to get help and when they were being sentenced wound was brought in and he'd figured out it was a vicious octopus looking alien. With others to help they were able to hold it off, make a ship to get off the planet. Till the octopus showed up and caught his mate and the bot that was charging came to the rescue , killed the things and saved her with healing she learned. The bit was the AI that was with his son, she transfer herself to the bot. She was able to send out a signal to the Lathar for help. His mate healed and he confesses about his feelings for her.

Loved this book

Great book! The story in this book was so interesting. I really enjoyed trying to figure out the mystery of the inhabitants in the colony settlement Kenna and Xaandril landed on due to a distress call that they intercepted. It was cool trying to figure it out along with them. Then new characters and bad guys are introduced and the plot thickens. The ending is super awesome with another character brought in.
There wasn’t as much romance between the MC’s as I tend to prefer but I was totally ok with it. The mystery kept me going. I did really like how Xaandril was confident in Kenna’s fighting ability and even though he’s over protective of his mate, he trusts her to take care of herself against the bad guys. She is totally bada*s and can handle herself in tough situations.
I can see me reading it again and highly recommend this book.

Xaan and Kenna have been dancing around each other for a while now. They were my most anticipated couple. Two extremely strong, loving and loyal individuals. Everyone could see how they felt about each other. I could not wait to read their story. Needless to say, I was a little disappointed. They were put on a mission together. The Emperor match making again. Xaan and Kenna’s characters completely changed. They were no longer the smart General Champion and marine. A train wreck story really. Redeemed in the end by the action. The most ridiculous was their mating in the middle of all the chaos. Dumb. I wanted a better story for them. I did like Stephen. Wanted to find out what happened to him. Interesting character. Hope to learn more about him.

An alien feeling not worthy of his attraction to a human woman and the aforesaid woman attracted to him but comes up against a brick wall in getting him to see their "light". Both characters are strong personalities who meet in the middle amongst this plot of unprincipled smugglers, a vicious and appalling creature who hands out death so horribly on an abandoned plant colony, and new characters added to the story line. The epilogue was a marvelous ending to this story; so emotional, so touching. It had my heart skipping a beat. All told, a truly intense plot told in Ms. Carter's inimitable style. For my honest and willing review I was given an ARC.

I loved the emotional dance that Kenna and Xaan did as part of the courting. Without really admitting it to themselves or anyone else, they tango’d until pushed together. They were both very strong and independent people and yet willing to bend and be soft for each other. I enjoyed the story and how there were threats from different directions and they had to be smart and work with others. I liked that there were new story elements and people introduced. Excited that there might be a few more tales and matches coming.

This is part of the series, but I don’t think you will miss much if you start with this one. It is pretty stand alone for Kenna and covers her background.

An addictive and compelling story, I loved this piece of the series. Kenna and Kaarn(? I am awful at remembering alien names) Finally get their own. Story! And it is all things sweet, exciting and action packed! Personally, I have loved almost everything Mina Carter has written, and this book did not let me down. Kenna is impressive on her own, but when she finally gets the general's attention, things start to heat up, but they are in a constant state of crisis. The suspense at the colony was just thick enough to keep the story fun without killing the whole romance vibe. The part with Dax and the Kirn though? Too funny, gross still, but funny anyway.

I love all the Lathar books, but this one is my favorite because . Kenna finally gets her book, and it was filled with action and danger and ends with a from the grave message from Dannae, Xaandril's daughter who was killed. That surprise, mentioned above, is what made this book stand out to me from the others, even though they are all as romantic and drama filled overall.

I absolutely adore the series with the witty dialogue and likeable characters. I almost canceled my preorder of this book after seeing how the last one deviated with its bodice ripper/borderline rapey tone. I'm glad I didn't.

I don't know what happened with the last book but I'm glad the author came back to the original tone and feeling that made this series enjoyable. I'm so happy to finally read Kenna and The Champion's story!

Now I'm waiting for the Emperor's happily ever after!

It's about time!!

Anyone who has read this series(if not, why?) has watched these two characters "spar" with each other since their first meeting. Finally Xaandril has decided to make his move. Yeah, it may have taken a "slight" push from Emperor Daaynal but it's about time! Kenna is the perfect mate for Xaandril. Hopefully they can survive their mission and get their HEA. I'm eagerly waiting for the next Latharian to meet his mate.

Awesome! This story has everything- pirates and bad aliens and a marvellous strong female character. It is definitely an exciting and very enjoyable read, it kept me absolutely mesmerised for the whole book. I never wanted it to end, but I couldn’t wait for it to finish so I could see what happened. Mina Carter always writes a magical story, and this one is definitely a great one. The ending is wonderful- definitely a story to put in my keeper file and pulled out to enjoy when I want some excitement with my romance

The Emperor’s champion had his eye on the fierce Kenna Reynolds. But as a wounded and scarred Lathar, he had his doubts. Would he be enough for the Terran woman? Xaan was decided to take advantage of their new mission but, things were not as they expected. Exciting and scary! Enjoyed the suspense, the detailed descriptions and narrations that had me on edge. Good characters, intrigue, lot of suspense, danger, violence, romance, heated passion and a surprise. An interesting book that I liked very much.
