Connected: The Emergence of Global Consciousness

Rate this book
Is There an Earth Mind? This is the story of the Global Consciousness Project, a unique 20-year scientific collaboration of researchers recording the effects of mass consciousness in response to major global events.  Its findings are consistent with the wisdom traditions of many cultures and speak of humanity’s unity and deep connections through love, compassion, and the creative impulse.
ROGER NELSON runs the Global Consciousness Project (GCP), an international collaboration studying mass consciousness. He conducted psi research at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) laboratory from 1980 to 2002 and, while at Princeton, created the GCP in 1997. Interests in psychology, physics, philosophy, and the arts facilitate his research at the edges of what we know. His focus is the subtle interconnections that define an emerging humanity. Nelson is the author with Georg Kindel of Der Welt wie wir alle miteinander verbunden sind , published in 2018.

Excellent book. The author pursues a brilliant and original line of thought in his creation of the Global Consciousness Project and experiments spanning two decades. In my opinion, this book will prove to be a seminal work as it brings forth an undeniable effect of mind over matter

It's an account of an ongoing experiment in universal consciousness, and I am not at all challenging that there is some valid correlation between events and humans' ability to tap into a shared consciousness. However, I gave this book a "1" rating (and I very seldom do that; maybe 1% of the time?) because it is so incredibly boring. Endless pages of data plus extremely repetitive and plodding. It needed serious editing and would have been much more effective if it had been reduced to 30 pages rather than 300.

Full disclosure: I wrote the book. It is an effort to describe the project as a scientific experiment, and as a signpost for our development of human potentials. It shows that we are at the beginning of the next stage of our evolution -- to become a noosphere, a layer of intelligence responsible for the planet.

Was interested in this project, but a) a very poorly written / edited presentation and b)I don’t buy the interpretation of the results. Too many logical leaps.

Nelson’s research with the Global Consciousness Project is compelling. It uses data to suggest connections that are usually invisible. To me, it provided scientific backing. It suggested that my internal state might actually matter to the collective. I am glad for that. As I persistently chip away at the old cement walls that kept me stuck, I am not just freeing myself. I get to share my shine, my light with the collective.
