I'm just a girl from Houston with a knack for words. I love adding a dash of Paranormal into our world. I write about sexy shifters who are hard on their foes but melt for their mates. Alpha males who love to protect their women. My heroes are rough, tough shapeshifters who possess the soft heart that a woman yearns for.
***spoilers ahead**** This was okay. A little juvenile to me. Could have been better. How do get severely injured, come back have sex immediately. Then you are kidnapped for few days, but you don’t even bathe just have sex. Could have played out better. First read by this author.
Damon Ward’s father had arranged a marriage for him, but Damon wanted nothing to do with that lifestyle. He had despised Athena when they met. But she was more stubborn than he, and she was able to curb his temper and make him happy – at least until the birth of their son. The baby had clear signs of Down syndrome, and Damon almost killed the doctor in his anger. Josias would remain human and never learn to shift. Although he loved his son, he would not get to bond over teaching him that skill. But they celebrated every accomplishment he reached and they loved each other.
As they were in the garden being silly over Damon wearing a flower behind his ear, tires squealed loudly at the front of the house. Athena went to check it out and there were gunshots as the Paal clan killed her and searched the house for Damon and Josias. When they finally left, he went downstairs and saw his dead wife. His 3-year-old son followed him and he blocked her from his view as he shifted into his dragon and flew away with Josias.
As Damon walked across the floor, a low rumble shook his penthouse building. This wasn’t a normal earthquake, the tremors getting stronger each time, so he ran to Josias’ room and picked him up as the building started to sway. He jumped through a window and shifted, feeling guilty he could not help others evacuate, but there was just no time. He was bitter at humans and the world he lived in because no one had helped him through his mourning.
Tasha Brickman was stunned at what had happened to the city. She was a contractor, owner of Grassroots Housing Incorporated, which focused on building affordable housing. The respectful way she treated her employees in building up her business, and encouraging their ideas, made her company one of the best out there. She came into the city to see what she could do to help these people recover. The worst damage seemed centered around one of the tall buildings which her company had not built. Yet this building, she noted, was built well and should have survived an earthquake. The foundation was solid. And there was no residual damage in the surrounding area, which she would have expected to see. It was very strange! As she discussed it with her foreman, the Mayor called and offered her a job rebuilding the city, along with a few other reliable contractors.
The Mayor called the people together to tell them they would rebuild their city. He introduced Damon Ward, head of Ward Incorporated, a humanitarian company that had donated a large sum of money to rebuild. Tasha couldn’t help staring at him, but looked away in embarrassment. He had seen the fire in her eyes and it intrigued him. Then the Mayor introduced Tasha Brickman, owner of Grass Roots Incorporated. Damon saw a hidden strength in her that radiated outward. He was looking forward to their working together so he could try to figure her out. As they got up to finally leave the stage, Tasha saw his dark brown eyes with honey-yellow flecks – and she swore they glowed! Will Damon let her in on his secret? Or will the choice be taken out of his hands when meets again with an old enemy clan?
The book starts off in a not-very-happy way, dealing with a variety of emotional reactions for the male character that finally resolve, only to have the next tragedy occur. The female character likewise has had a difficult fight to get where she is in business, but is now at the pinnacle of her career, garnering respect from her employees and everyone she has done work for. I was relieved when the story line started to take the reader to a hopeful place where the two main characters were attracted to each other. But even that goodness was threatened. Grab your copy of the book and see how the drama unfolds and resolves, and whether there is a chance for a HEA and a strong family to come together.
This story starts in the past, Damon's first wife and telling of his son with down syndrome, then his wife's murder. Back in the present Damon is mostly withdrawn from the world except to protect and care for his son and run his business. An attack on his building devastates the city and the rebuilding leads him to Tasha. Tasha is a successful black woman in a man's business. Recruited by the city to help rebuild, she's instantly attracted to Damon but tries to keep her work with him professional. Ya, that lasts for all of a minute. When Damon invites her to dinner their connection runs deep and ends with some heat by end of the evening.
I liked these two and that their romance was the focal point and the attacks were more back story. I was a bit startled by how after dinner Tasha jumped into a roleplay type of seduction, that seemed out of place. I would have expected something like that after they knew each other a bit longer, so that part didn't work very well for me, however the heat these two generated was clear. There was also a bit of storyline that while the mayor hired her he also wanted to hook up with her. When the mayor had called her twice in a row at her dinner with Damon I thought that might lead to another drama/tension point but it didn't really go any farther than give an opening for Damon to understand Tasha's initial reluctance and behavior at the start of the dinner.
I voluntarily received this book for an honest review through Booksprout. 'Protected by a Dragon' is an enjoyable read, a nice kick off for a new dragon shifter series, that briefly touching on multiracial and special needs themes.
This story starts in the past, with Damon's father having arranged a marriage of convience. Damon was not thrilled with Athena, but with ti.e he grew to love her deeply. It then jumps to the telling of his son being born with down syndrome, not allowing him to ever shift, fly, or breath fire (which was a completely different spin) then his wife's murder. It then jumps to the present day. Damon is mostly withdrawn from the world except to protect and care for his son and run his business. An attack on his building, which also happens to be his headquarters, decimated part of the city and the re construction leads him to Tasha Brickman. Recruited by the City's Mayor to help rebuild, she's instantly attracted to Damon and vice versa.they try to keep their work professional. When Damon invites her to dinner their connection runs deep and ends with a "steamy" night....
I liked these two and that their romance was the focal point and the attacks were more back story. I was a bit taken back by how Tasha turned into a seductress by the end of the dinner, that seemed out of character. It was slightly confusing how the story would "jump" between characters with no "pause". I eventually became used to it, but at first it through me. I don't want to give to much away of the story just a little "peak" it was a fun read and I liked the originality of the story very much.
I received this book as an ARC and am giving my honest opinion
Tasha Brickman is a self made woman in a mans word. Not shy of hard work and doesn't mind taking her work home with her. What she can't stand, was when men thought she was a easy booty call. When the parts of the city are destroyed by a earthquake Tasha is quick to go to the scene and start thinking of plans to rebuild when she gets the call from the mayor asking her to help rebuild the city. Her company had the best results and he knew she was the person to rebuild. Tasha was over the moon. She wasn't when he called to say they were doing a press release and she was needed to be present. This is where she meets Damon Ward. He is fit and she struggles not to look at him. But she needed to as they would be working together, Damon is a single parent taking care of his son who has down syndrome. He loves his son more than anything. He reminded him so much of his mother who was murdered by a rival clan Oh did I don't mention he was a dragon shifter living in between humans. What would happen when these two work together? would the major put a spanner in the works? Could Damon tell Tasha what and who he really was????? This is a great read I thought the ending was rushed and I would of liked to see how the family unit works but that's just me I like my HEA

Tasha owns Grassroots Housing Inc a construction business that she worked tirelessly at to make it a profitable and well respected business. Damon is in charge of Ward Incorporated it lends money to projects to help the people and better the city, his wife was killed by a rival clan now he’s a single father to his son Josias who has a disability his son is never going to be able to shift. When Damon’s penthouse starts shaking he grabs his son and shifts as he’s going through the window, the city has been devastated and Damon will help re build the city with his company. Tasha comes to the city to look over the devastation and she finds out where it all started from, the mayor offers Tasha a job to help rebuild the city and to work with Damon and his humanitarian company. When they finally meet they are both intrigued and attracted to each other but will Damon tell Tasha his big secret?, and when a rival clan starts trouble will Damon be able to keep everyone safe?. This is a very emotional story and I feel so sorry for Damon for everything that he went through, this is an amazing heartfelt story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
If it seems too good to be true, time to expand your mind. Tasha owned a construction which she built brick by brick. Being a black femals in a male dominated field made her tough and better than most. Damon, dragon shifter existed in life until he was forced to marry Angela who dragged him into growing up. She was murdered by Paal a rival dragon clan. Tasha and Damon feel the instant pull when they met at a reconstruction site hotsed by a questionable mayor. Their courtship is not ordinary beyond the professional/personal involvement. How does Damon tell Tasha about his dragon? Is the earthquake that destroyed his building and several more rival dragon clan related? Can Tasha handle a dragon partner and life on the real? Fantastically written! Characters are well thought out and defined. The story is captivating, romantic, fun, intriguing and good! My only issue is the ending was abrupt and left me with a lot of questions.Well done Ms Chase. I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.

well, at least dinner with him and his son was not just fun, but had one heck of an exciting finale - better without the bondage and battles to the death, but hey - mated with a dragon shifter, and facing an extended life - bonus!
now if she can just hold onto her own business empire, extended family and friends - what more could a girl want!

A strange earthquake like catastrophe happens in a small town and the mayor calls in the help of a well-respected construction company, led by Tasha. She has to work closely with the head of a company donating a lot of money for the reconstruction. She is intrigued and willing to find out more about the mysteriaous CEO. Damon is more than just a CEO of his company - a dragon shifter, who suspects that the earthquake was caused by a rival clan. Caught up in an unexpected courtship and a mystery the story starts funny and a little romantic, but develops quickly into mystery and a battle. Well-written and entertaining, the story is a blend of romance and epic drama on a small scale, like a fairy tale.. The clock is ticking on why buildings are collapsing be prepared for a roller coaster ride as they try to solve the problem
Anastasia Chase is a one of a kind author that will pull you in and leave you wanting more. This book was no exception and I did not want it to end. When an unnatural earthquake shakes their town destroying buildings and lives Tasha and Damon are brought together by the Mayor to help with the rebuild. Little do they know they will be building more than a city. Can this dragon shifter in hiding allow himself to fall for this human woman. Can he save her from the same people who killed his wife? Will anyone survive? This is a must read. My only complaint is that I wanted it to continue and thought it could have gone a little further at the end.

An unusual story as the heroine appears much stronger ( even if not physically ) than the hero, indeed this dragon is attracted to strong and willful ladies that will put him in his place . Filled with a slow romance amidst disaster with lots of heartache for our hero , action and revenge it will keep you reading till the end . Not sure if there is a series to come from this but it did leave quite a few questions unanswered so I hope to find those answers in a next book (???)

After Damon’s wife was murdered by a rival Clan he flees with his son and spends his life working and protecting his son. After his home is destroyed by an unusual earthquake, he meets Tasha. Tasha is contracted to rebuild part of the town that was destroyed by the earthquake, which involves working closely with Damon. She misjudges him at first, thinking he is like the Mayor – just wants to get in her pants! They get closer as they work together but, his rival Clan has noticed this too! This was a great read with action, misunderstandings and of course love. I received this as an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.
And a boy/young man so amazing that his beauty shines for all the world to see. I really adored this book. The fact that it deals with loss of a mother/wife and the fact that Josias isn't the man/dragon the world expected him to be - nope he's better! I loved the way this was done so sensitively - Josias is amazing and is itching to show the world just what he can do instead of what he cant - turn into a dragon even though that's his deepest wish - to be just like his dad. It is a swift romance and I finished the book before I even realised. Enjoyed it though. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book
I immensely enjoyed this shifter book. The characters were easy to know, relatable and very likeable. Loved tge connection between Tasha and Mr . Ward. Would have liked more erotic action between the two. Though important for progession of the story, I felt that the clash between Paal clan and Ward's clan was anticlimactic, even though this is when Mr. Ward's dragon is revealed to Tasha. Though this was a fantasy book, I appreciated the inclusion of a Down Syndrome child. In this story it showed what could be accomplished when surrounded by love, support and compassion.
I loved this book. The female lead was so strong, confident, mature, and curvy. The Damon, the male lead, was smitten at first sight. I loved that he loved who she was from the start and didnt try to change her. And I loved that she didnt freak out once she learned what he really was. This book had action, very little emotional drama, and a couple of great steamy scenes. This author never fails to give his great books with wonderful characters.

This book was such a wild roller coaster ride! Tasha and Damon were fantastic characters that were well written and believable (well, except for the dragon shifter part haha). They were both strong as individuals as well as together. The storyline itself was full of romance, action, thrills, and excitement, and it was hard for me to put down. Overall, this story was wonderful, and Anastasia Chase has done it again!

Phenomenal! This well written paranormal romance is action-packed with intrigue, violent suspense, danger around every corner, humor, witty banter, and hot steamy scenes. The storyline is interesting, thrilling, and captivating. The characters are strong and well-developed, with the chemistry between them instant, potent, and off the charts. This is an on the edge of your seat read and is definitely recommended.

Very enjoyable and entertaining read definitely not your typical PNR. It also deals with loss of a mother/wife and also with a son who isn't the shifter the world expect but has the heart of gold. I for sure loved Tasha she the epitome of what a female heroine is supposed to be add in some action, suspense, and of course steamy romance to keep you hook from beginning to end. Overall a good read. I received a free copy via Booksprout I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
This is the story of Tasha and Damon. I loved this story especially Josia. The author takes you on a journey that is amazing. Ms Chase has done an excellent job again. She writes such a real and powerful believable story that before you know it you are part of Tasha and Damon's story. This book is full of adventure, drama and suspense which makes for a page turner. Wish the ending was a little longer. Definitely recommend this book.

Damon is a dragon shifter, CEO and widowed father to a son with down syndrome. Tasha is a contractor and owns her own business. When a strange earthquake hits the mayor brings Damon and Tasha together to help rebuild the town. Loved the chemistry between Damon and Tasha and that not only did we get a great romance we also got an intriguing mystery. This is a well written story filled with drama, suspense, action, danger, passion and twists and turns that had me hooked from the first page until the last. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

The story delivers the hot scenes as guaranteed by the author. The story goes pretty fast as we learn the past and present for Damon. He is a dragon shifter that has been around for awhile but has definitely matured with his time. Tasha is a smart woman that has followed her dreams even with all the hostility of being a black woman in what is considered a man’s field. I really love her character and how she not only survives but overcomes everything to get what she wants. And then there is Jo. A sweet character that really shows the type of character Damon is to his son.
A well written story that I enjoyed reading. Tasha Brickman is the owner of Grassroots Housing Incorporated, and Damon Ward is the head of Ward Incorporated, a humanitarian company this story had me on the edge of my seat I had to know what was going to happen. An earthquake brings these two together but there is more to the quake than Tasha being human realizes. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Protected by the Dragon by Anastasia Chase is wonderful and compelling story about a business woman Tasha who meets a business man Damon. After their initial meeting they ends up having so much more than just a business relationship. This book is sweet, funny, scary, and sexy with great characters who are both human and dragon. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great love story involving humans and dragons.
I legit was sad when I started reading this, like oh my god this was getting intense. I was hooked from the beginning, I love these kinds of stories really. I do wish there was more to the ending though. Like just a little more on afterward, But I'm just the greedy type when it comes to books I like. I would definitely recommend this book.

I recd this book as an ARC book in return for my honest review. I really enjoyed this book and the characters in it. Damon didn’t want anything to do with an arranged marriage. He wanted to protect his son and didn’t want his secret known. When his wife was killed and he left with his son. If you want to know how the story goes and ends, get a copy of the book and I promise you will not be disappointed.
Not enough backgr... Not enough background story for me in this one. The little we get is rushed so it didn't make sense. Why was Damon running away from the beginning, he let her go check on the noise and she was human? I'm thinking the son is going to turn seeing all the referencing about him sleeping more and his reactions. Can't get started on the foolishness of the earth magic, why didn't Damons clan or the other dragon clans check the situation out? Not enough for me. 9/11/2019 23:13
There was more of the relationship aspect that the Fantasy part. It was more Damon hiding what he truly is from the woman he loves due to acceptance. He definitely had skeletons in his closet which led to his secret being revealed to her before he could really explain it on his own terms. It was pretty short so there wasn't enough time for the relationship to develop and watch them grow.
