About the author

She grew up near Lake Nyanza (formerly Lake Victoria), Kenya, and, after working in Kisumu and Nairobi, went to live in Canada. She and her American husband have two children. She works as an artist in clay sculpture in London, Ontario, and has written articles on the language and culture of her people, the Nandi.
