Terran Strike Marines fight for victory. No matter the odds. No matter the cost.
The final battle against the Kesaht begins.
Lieutenant Hoffman and the exhausted Marines of Valdar's Hammer are called upon to make a desperate assault against the enemy's home world. But the foe is prepared, and their planet is a death trap.
While the Strike Marines fight for their lives, the fabled ship Breitenfeld remains captured by the Ibarra Nation, and the Ember War hero Valdar languishes in a cell. The ship and her Captain are held on a strange world of the Ibarra's design, and only the Hammers can free them.
Hoffman and his Strike Marines have fought from the icy wastes of Koen, to the jungles of Eridu, and even deep into the heart of a shattered moon, but their final mission will demand a price in blood.

Ferrum Corde and Gott Mitt Uns could of been combined into a single, slightly longer volume. Both tell a piece of the end of this part of the story. And a decent ending it is. The personal habits and bickering really make the Strike Marine books.
Wow, this book really didn't resonate with me compared to the rest of the series. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of one is because it concluded a few main storylines.
To give context to my review, these books (Ember War series, Terran Armor War series, Terran Strike Marines series) have been some of my all-time favorites and I've been binge reading them for the last 6 weeks. I've rated most books in the series 5 and 4 stars.
However, I found this last installment choppy and extremely difficult to read compared to the other umpteen books. To me, it seemed like the main characters were merely hollow caricatures of themselves compared to the previous books. The dialogue seemed trite. Imagine a bad sitcom with a bad laugh track... The plot seemed to really jump around and the story seemed very inconsistent.
Also, I was NOT a big fan of the main plot of our heroes I know, that's the opposite response many of the other reviewers had... Sorry!
Even the premise of why Valdar and the Breitenfeld are being held where they are makes absolutely no sense. Why
This book is full of fluff and should only have been a short story- or, as many other reviewers have mentioned, combined with Ferrum Corde.
Look., I'll keep reading the installments in the Ember-verse as they come out because I'm a big fan. I love Richard Fox's writing and the Ember-verse has been a blast.
But you can skip this book completely and be okay.
Constant typos and mistakes, sections are definitely out of order and sometimes characters that aren't in a scene are present for a line, then sufdeny referred to as being elsewhere. Combined with huge holes in the action and plot, it makes for a poor ending.
I agree with some of the other reviews that this book could have been combined with FC. I'm old it took me a bit to remember the happenings in FC that intertwined with GMU. I do like the back and forth between characters, sounds like a group of Marines or Police. I'm a little confused as there are a few areas towards the end of the book that I'm not sure about. I didn't go back in detail to check. Marc Ibarra is called Cpt Faben when communicating with the security element in the Liberty system, but no where that I could find ever mentions where he gave him a name. I had to go back a couple of times and try to find out who this person was. The other issue was when Steuben is going to deliver the sappers kit to Garrison, he runs until he finds drunk campers and doesn't have to run all the way to the city, but then later in another chapter they are loading up into some other type of 4 wheel drive vehicle as if Steuben had never left in the first place. I have read every book in the series that has anything to do with the Ember war and I'm not stopping now!
I am not sure where I am on this book , I felt a door trying to close but at the same time a resistance and being slammed open. I enjoyed this book maybe a little more than some of the others and I am not sure why. I have enjoyed every book in The Ember War series but this one to me was just a little better. It’s good to put Valdar back on his bridge. Hoffman still doing his job but not really in it since Opal is gone. And so many other emotions.. but all said it is so worth the read..
This book neatly rounds of the series,. The book overlaps and continues the tale of the Terran strike marines as rhey atempt Valdars rescue. One of the best thing about this series is the great writing of the interaction between the charachters of the TS Marines. You also cant help but like the Ibarrans as well. It is even quite emotional as well , as the loss of a funny charachter was sad. 2020 is a long tine off for the follow up!
What keeps me from giving this a 5th star as I've given most if not all of the preceding books if that I thought it had too much squad banter. Seems a small thing, but it came across as filler to me and had me skipping ahead a bit on a number of occasions.
Gott Mit Uns however is a solid 4 and a good wrap-up for these characters. I'm not sure where this goes from here, as I never got into the Terra Nova books, but I'll keep an open mind toward other spin-offs.
This series does not have to be read in order, but I would recommend you do. If you like military action sci-fi definitely but this series from Richard Fox/Scott Moon on your TBR list. Book 5 did not disappoint. Funny, snarky and serious all at the same time Gott Mit Uns continues the incredible story of one squad saving the universe. This is done without making the characters being over the top invincible. Great job guys, thanks.
I did not think it was possible but I believe Terran Strike Marines is as good or maybe even better than the OG Ember War series. It was a perfect mix of humor, action and world building. Not to mention that the characters are an outstanding mix that works great together. We need the strike Marines to continue.
Not sure it was the end I expected but the story was good once I had got over the initial overlap with previous book. The characters and plot worked well . You can see the next story line being developed so it be interesting to see how that picks up the threads.
Outstanding, always like the action I find in the Brietenfeld and her Strike Marines. Always good to read about the Ibarran nation and the Terrans, one these days those two outfits will get back together... Thanks for a GoodRead.
If you have been reading all the books in the Ember War series this is a very good book that helps finalize some of the series and opens the door for the future. I really enjoyed reading this book and I can't wait for the continuation
I've read the entire Terran Strike Marine series (as well as Ember War Saga 1, and 2 [Terran Armor Corps] and the Terra Nova Chronicles) and have enjoyed them all. Looking forward to more material in the future.
This book was rife with one liners that made me laugh out loud. It also made me cry. The entire series has been a joy to read. A great SYFY adventure. A must read!! Many thanks to Fox and Scott… well done, we’ll done!
great book love the story and the narration I highly recommend listening to this book and the rest of the series 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 this is the second time I have listened to it 😀👍
Great use of 1970's era lore and humor. Good design of the work to present the fog of war. Strong characters with depth and empathic understanding for the reader.
