What does the expression, “having it all” mean?

For me, does this mean having a career as a successful author?

With more money than I need, best friends… a nice house?

I’ve been publicly linked to a phrase that might as well be mythical in nature.

No one person walking this earth “has it all.”

I have a privileged life, yes, but is it anywhere near fulfillment?

Not even close… until I met her.

Skylar

I won’t deny that I view the world through rose-tinted glasses.

Maybe it’s because I’m an artist, or maybe it’s because of my upbringing.

Regardless, not a single day goes by that I’m not grateful for my life, my friend, my apartment.

I never dwell on what might be lacking in my days, but spending my time picking them apart will never allow me to grow and flourish.

That’s not how I’d like to spend my life.

Have I reached the level of contentment I’m yearning for?

Not even close… until I met him.

This is the second book of Dawn’s I’ve read and I’m already anticipating the third. Her stories never disappoint. I find her writing so beautifully descriptive and calming. I’m
Always happy when I have her words in front of me.
Nobel was gripping, cute, sexy and damn well hard to put down. Sky is hilarious and Dane is a true gentleman. Together, they make the perfect couple for a perfect book!

Skylar Ives is a teacher at Pioneer Creative Arts Cultural Center where she teaches adults. She loves the freedom she has teaching and is looking forward to having a successful writer come in for some classes to share his expertise.

Dane Noble is a very successful author who guards his privacy and life as much as possible. He agrees to come into the Pioneer Creative Arts Cultural Center and is not prepared to be so attracted to Skylar from the moment he first meets her.

The chemistry between Skylar and Dane is immediate but soon someone else seems to have it out for Skylar. Will Dane be able to keep her safe?

This was a great book and the first time I have read this author.

I liked Skylar and loved getting to see her in her element with teaching but I also liked that she was working on things for herself too with her passion for the creative process. I also thought it was awesome what happened after Skylar read Dane's book.

Dane was very private with only a few people he allowed to get close to him and that included his bodyguard, Cason. I liked learning about Dane's past and how he was struggling to deal with everything and how he was battling within himself on how to come to terms with it all.

When things started getting sketchy for Skylar I was curious to discover if the stalker was a Dane fan or someone that wanted Skylar. I liked the way everything played out but I think I would have preferred if we had more interactions with the stalker as themselves.

I really liked the relationship between Skylar and Dane and how everything progressed. There were great lighthearted moments and other HOT moments!

The end definitely surprised me as I wasn't expecting that but I loved how everything ended!

A steamy romance, seasoned with wit and a touch of suspense, the story brings two people from very different backgrounds together. Dane's psychological thrillers are not on Skylar's TBR list, even though everyone else raves about his books and that he is the hottest new author on the horizon. In an act of public service, Dane finds himself teaching one of Skylar's classes and discovers a woman with hidden depths, whose art calls to his soul. Whilst Skylar's mother and best friend form the bedrock on which she builds her life, Dane is surrounded by people he can trust and who are more family than friends. Entering Dane's orbit brings Skylar into a new dimension, one where the need for bodyguards and book signings are everyday events. I loved the humour and interplay between the friends, as well as the romance that built up between Skylar and Dane as they explored their lives together. When a hint of danger threatens Skylar, Dane and his friends quickly close ranks around her. Whilst Dane is naturally inclined to be reclusive and withdrawn, his interaction with the gentle Skylar draws him out. Her understanding of his personality goes a long way to make this a tender romance, however, her tendency to burn food makes her a lot like the rest of us! The story is a standalone and comes to a happy and successful close, although it should definitely come with an age restriction. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.

Dane Noble certainly lives up to his name. A writer of psychological thrillers, you might think he harbors dark secrets, but his past isn't so different from anyone else's. Gradually, readers learn of his growing up with an abusive, alcoholic father after the death of his mother. Under the loving guidance of his grandmother with whom he eventually lives, he becomes the opposite of his father - a true gentleman who opens doors for women and refuses to curse in front of them. He and quirky Skylar make the perfect couple as they find love together. Their scenes are both sizzling and tender, engaging in a witty repartee. Secondary characters add depth to the story with just the right amount of humor. I love the friendships in this novel. The plot arcs well, leaving readers with a satisfying ending. A must summer read!

Dane Noble is a writer and author in the psychological thriller genre. He is a private person, perfect gentleman and keeps to himself. Unfortunately, Dane has some dark secrets from his past.
Skylar Ives, Art teacher who loves her job. Her boss informed her today to expect a guest speaker in her creative writing class. The guest speaker is, Dane Noble. Skylar does not know a lot about Dane, except that he is a writer. She is so excited about this.
When these two people meet they are immediately attracted to each other, almost as if fate brought these two people together.
This is a very enjoyable romantic story. Engaging characters and well written. Two entirely different people who find each other for the right reasons. Look forward to reading this author's other book , Blue Diamond.

This is the first book I’ve read by Dawn Umrie and I can honestly say I loved it. The author’s characters are well developed, each having a story to tell. The storyline was interesting and fun to become involved with..... having elements of romance and suspense.

I would love to see a sequel, a continuation of the story with the focus on some of the background characters. I definitely recommend this book and will be looking forward to reading more from this author.

A perfect read....

A fun frisky read.. finding the “one” that makes your insides smile. There’s a touch of suspense.. a dash of humor.. and the passion between these two bring on a whole lotta sexiness.
This is part of a poem that’s in this book that got me..
“While my heart right now feels empty and frozen? Maybe so I’ll relinquish my control, Of the negativity I harbor deep within my soul.”
Love that!

Skyler and Dane are such wonderful characters. Skyler is an Artist and Dane is an Author. She doesn't know who he is. Her friend Maggie loves him. His friend Aaron is his friend. They meet up at the school that she is teaching at. It is a fun emotional book with all the characters in this book. They are all funny. Cason is also a wonderful character who you hope finds a nice person for him. Love the ups and downs in the funny awesome book.

After reading Blue Diamond, I was ecstatic that Noble was available to read as well. This author has such a fun writing style, she controls the tension with masterful skill, and she keeps the reader engaged. She delivers intense romance, well-crafted characters, and charming humour. If you love modern romance pick this book up. It's a steamy and absorbing read.

I am not sure if it was a quick read or I read it quickly because it is such a good book. I couldn’t put it down. This is Dawn Umrie’s second book and I can’t wait for more. Her characters are easy to relate to and you wish they were you friends! I HIGHLY recommend this book.

In the beginning of the story, introductions of the characters are what are needed to the fullest. Dawn did an amazing job of introducing Dane and Skylar. With the way she described their appearance, you could really picture someone.

I love the way she described, actions; feelings; appearances and more. She really did create a movie in a readers mind. It is what I end up loving the most about any story. If they can create a movie with feelings, it's going to be a hit in my life.

Dane and Skylar had amazing friendships with others and they were beautiful. Their friends were the type of people you want in your life, friendly, supportive and more. Dawn had created the perfect friends for the main characters, which made it all the better.

What I loved the most, was the growth of their relationship. From Skylar creating Dane's new book cover to the blocked kisses, which made me laugh as well as being frustrated that is had to wait a little longer. The bond between them both were amazing, I can't imagine a perfect realistic relationship, other than this relationship. Most relationships that I read have the "It'll never happen in real life" but this relationship, I can see it happening in real life. Maybe not with the crisis in the middle, but I can see it.

The complications they had to face, they were tricky and confusing. I'm not one for poems, as I sometimes have trouble finding out about the feelings behind them, but after a while I learnt the feelings. Skylar got scared, maybe terrified? Dane got protective and the incident was caused by an ill student of Skylar's who loved her and as Skylar picked Dane, she wasn't happy. It's basic, read more for depth. It is worth it!

The last chapter before the epilogue was so beautiful. Most romance novels I have read, ending with either an engagement or a marriage, with are amazingly cute. This is the first ending I've read where there isn't an engagement on the last chapter, but a promise ring and a promise that they will both be married. Beautiful and moving.

I have never seen an epilogue like this before. An epilogue in the form of a diary. Now that was beautiful, it was so moving. From the way Dawn had described Skylar's personality was exactly the type of thing that I can see Skylar doing.

Amazingly cute. Read it. I recommend it to anyone who wants a cute love steamy story. It it the meaning of amazing!

I really enjoyed this romantic suspense. In particular, the fun banter and sense of humour shared between Dane, Cason, Aaron, Skyler and Maggie made me smile. I had hoped the suspense would have been woven a bit further through the story - it seem to end a bit prematurely? I also enjoyed that both Dane and Skyler were sort of portrayed as real people with imperfect lives and characteristics. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery.
