I loved this!! I love the cowboys that Em Petrova writes, they are so sexy and so alpha. I loved that they chose to use the chant from the Knight brothers. ‘Gut and Glory, one mission at a time’
This was a really interesting plot, not just your normal get in there beat someone up and get out, this was to all intents and purposes a dead case and then it’s the opened and a huge twist is found. I really liked the strong character of Nevaeh how she held her own against Nash and held her family together for a decade. And I also loved the softer side of Nash that at times he had running parallel with his alpha strength. So much feeling and emotion in the writing.
So I like how descriptive Em Petrova is and I think this story had a great deal of potential. I liked how she built up the explanation of how the Ops team was formed and liked the characters and how you really feel them. I even thought the plot was a good one. It fell apart for me for a couple reasons. SPOILER ALERTS HERE! Our hero meets out heroine and they pretty much right of the bat have a connection. Ok fine I'm ok with that. BUT for the hero he barely has any verbal interaction with our heroine - no for him all you get is that he loves her hair and she's gorgeous. Really that's why he has a connection? Come on there needs to be more than just the physical. Also the missing brother returns home from Mexico in the end 10 yrs after he disappears and was being held by the bad guys. But somehow he managed to get across the border? Really? Were the bad guys polite enough to allow him to keep all his IDs and passport etc? And supposedly the bad guys are going to want to get to him but then that story just disappears and everyone is happy at the end. If has so many great elements that just didn't deliver for me.

This is a spin-off from the Knight Ops series. It is a book about Homeland Security and a division of Operation Freedom Flag (an elite organization to protect the USA from threats and terrorists. Nash Sullivan and some of his men are invited to join this group on a special mission to Mexico - a really big honor and also very dangerous. When a person who went missing 10 years ago is sited alive in Mexico the team is sent in to rescue him. Now arrives the missing man's sister who is looking for her brother as well. Sparks immediately fly between Nash and Nevaeh - he tries to protect her and she fights him all the way. It is wonderfully written with strong, sexy characters. An extremely entertaining, captivating, and interesting read. Flows well and keeps you on the edge of your seat from cover to cover. The characters have great chemistry and pull you into their lives and the choices they make. Lots of steamy hot sex too. This book has hot passion, tenderness, hunger, sweetness, and most of all encompassing love. It really pulls your heart strings. I highly recommend it and I know I will read it again. I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.

Another new outstanding series started by Em Petrova
I have read many stories by Em Petrova, and they are always great. She knows how to tell a story with great characters with integrity and morales. These characters are people you would love to meet because they are just like you and I, they have feelings, have quirky personalities and just want to keep everyone safe. All of her stories are fantastic and a wonderful read.
Nevaeh has been waiting 10 years to find out what happened to her brother. He went to Mexico to do some hiking and just disappeared. Every now and then the Texas Rangers come by and ask her family more questions but never have any answers. Her parents are distraught. Her mother can't function after these visits and her father can only hold a part-time job. Nevaeh is an accountant, and after the last visit from the Texas Rangers, decides to take some time off for a vacation. She doesn't tell her parents, but she is going to go to Mexico to find some answers for herself. She is tired of her family being in limbo not know what has happened to her brother. Is he alive or is he dead? Until they know, they can't move forward without closure. Once she gets to the same hostel that her brother was in, she starts asking questions and flashing pictures of her brother. At least until a man grabs her and drags her into the hostel and a room and asks her if she knows what she is doing.
Nash is in Ranger Ops. He was a military man, a police officer, a Texas Ranger and now in a special group, OFFSUS team. The government, under Homeland Security, now has the second OFFSUS group. Knight Ops is another of Em's series that you may want to read after you read this story. This is the team that gets sent in and gets things done that a simple 6 men shouldn't be able to do, but they do. During one op in Mexico, at a quick stop, Nash recognized a man that has been missing for the past 10 years. As soon as he finishes his original op, he will be coming back for the missing guy. He gets all the information that the Texas Rangers have, and then some, when he spots Nevaeh asking questions. He grabs her, drags her into a secure room and asks her if she knows what she is doing. She is about to blow their cover and get herself kidnapped. With her help, they might be able to find her brother, if he is still alive.
The hardest part of this operation is keeping their hands off each other.

At Close Range (Ranger Ops Book 1) By: Em Petrova It's HARD To Deny Attraction When You're "At Close Range!" She ONLY wanted Answers, Sooo She Trotted OFF to Mexico~ The Scene of Her Brother's Disappearance... What She NEVER planned ON... Was find'n HerSelf "At Close Range" with a Team O' Texas Rangers! "At Close Range" with Guys there to find Her Brother TOO! Or Being... "At Close Range" AND Saddled UP (Close & Personal) With ONE Ranger in Particular! Especially, Cuz EveryTime She gets "At Close Range" with Him, She's NOT the Same... She go Crazy! She wants to Forget EveryThing & EveryOne Else... She wants to bring Him "At Close Range," jumping HIM purely for PL€@$U®€, Which is Wrong when they're in this Crazy Situation! I was granted an ARC of Em Petrova's "At Close Range (Ranger Ops Book 1)" via B00|{$P®0UT. I recommend this book to others based upon its own recommendations. All opinions expressed within this review are uniquely my own & freely given! Until next time... Happy Reading!
I was excited the hear that Ms. Petrova had started a new series and this one didn't disappoint. We are introduced to a whole new group of men who are amazing at their job and take care of the people they love. I also liked the brief mention of her other series Knight Ops. You don't need to read that series to understand it in this one but if you like this series, you will love that one.
Nash is a man who after a difficult mission is promoted to a newly formed team. He has to figure out the quirks of this new team and learn to function as one. He seems to do a really good job at this. I liked all sides of Nash. He is a controlled and tough man but seems to melt at the sight of Nevaeh. This was the part I liked the most, Nash seems to be a man who sometimes had a temper but other than that he is always in control. He follows the rules and works hard. However, five minutes with Nevaeh and that control slips. He wants her in a way he can't explain.
Nevaeh is a woman who is merely coasting through life. After her brother goes missing, her family sort of stops living. I admired the balls this woman had to go and try and find him. I also liked that once she realized the danger she had inadvertently put herself in, she listens to reason and followed Nash and the teams directions.
The third element of this book I liked was the "get to know the guys" portion. The conversation in the vehicle of if they can handle their spices and things like that hit my funny bone. I liked being able to see both sides of these men. The hardened soldier who you could trust to get you out of a sticky situation and the men who are giving each other a hard time.
I highly recommend this book and look forward to more in this series.
As a huge fan of author Em Petrova's Knight Ops series, I was over the moon thrilled to learn that she had started a new series, Ranger Ops. I tore into this book like a bag of Lays potato chips and devoured the entire book in one sitting. The first book in the series, "At Close Range", lived up to all of my expectations. Newly appointed captain of Ranger Ops, Nash Sullivan leads his team into Mexico with the intention of bringing back a US Citizen that went missing 10 years prior while hiking. Navaeh Vincent is in Mexico seeking answers regarding her missing brothers wearabouts. After hearing her asking questions that are sure to get her killed, Nash must not only locate and rescue their intended target, but protect Navaeh from becoming the next missing person to grace the walls of the Texas Ranger's office. Can he keep her safe and not give into his desire to make her his?
This book has it all! An Alpha hot male with impecable morals paired up with a strong, sexy, intelligent woman with hair to dye for (pun intended). A fast moving storyline with action and suspense. Sexual chemistry in spades. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series if their characters and storylines are even half as interesting as "At Close Range". But knowing author Em Petrova's work, I'm sure that each book will far surpass the previous book in the series. I cannot wait until Book 2 is released!

I LOVE this book. The story is such that it just grabs you right from the beginning. The story is the first of the series and we meet the team of Ranger Ops as it is formed. I look forward to the rest of this series.
Nash is the Captain of this newly formed team. While in Mexico for their first mission, Nash see what he believes is a man that has been missing from over 10 years. His team goes back down to Mexico to see if they can locate Antonio Vincent. Nevaeh Vincent, Antonio's younger sister, has been locked inside herself basically still the young girl that she was at fifteen when he disappeared. She takes care of her parents as they are fragile. When two Texas Rangers come around again with questions, Nevaeh decided to travel to Mexico for herself to see what became of her brother.
The journey to Nash's and Nevaeh's HEA is one that didn't disappoint me. I was glued to my e-reader. The action was written in such a way that I felt like I was right there in the scene. The dual POV format here really helped me to connect to the characters. I really loved Nash's intense protective feelings for Nevaeh.
I highly recommend this book to anyone over 18. Make sure you sent enough time aside to read this. You won't be able to stop reading. It is a very gripping tale.
This is amusing, dramatic, suspenseful, steamy and romantic. Nash is stubborn, fierce, brave and sweet. Nevaeh is impulsive, sneaky, determined and caring. After participating in an arms bust, Nash gets selected to head a new OFFSUS team. His first mission is in Mexico, and while he's doing some reconnaissance he sees a man who looks like a person who has been missing for 10 years. He collects information, and the man’s hard drive, to find out why he stayed there after a hiking trip. Meanwhile, the man's sister, Nevaeh, heads down to Mexico to try to find more information so that she and her parents can get closure. The first thing Nash sees when he gets to the hostel where Victor was last seen, is Nevaeh asking questions. He grabs her and hauls her up to a room and tries to put her place. Nevaeh tells him off at first, but eventually gives in knowing that they are better able to find her brother. Sparks and lust fly between them, even though Nash tries to keep it business only. The new group, Ranger Ops is full of tough, intense smart a**es. I laughed at their antics and cried at the loss. I look forward to the upcoming missions. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
My first book by this author and I have not been disappointed. I fell in love with Texas Ranger Nash Sullivan, hot, tough as nails but with a heart of gold. This book has everything hot chemistry, devoted family, a specs ops team to die for and a disgusting criminal to hate. When Nash spots a man believed to be dead during a mission it sets him on a collision course with the mans devoted sister Nevaeh Vincent. His life will never be the same again. Nevaeh has spent so long looking for her brother that she doesnt think twice about putting herself in harms way when she discovers that he may still be alive and nothing and no one will stand in her way, not even an incredibly hot Texas Ranger who her every cell feels connected to. Can two stubborn damaged people trust each other not only to stay alive but to embrace a future together. Of course they can, it is a romantic suspense after all. But they will have a rollercoaster of a ride before they can have their HEA. I enjoyed this book, it had great characters, a thrilling story and a surprisingly hot but sweet romance. I am definitely looking forward to book 2 as well as reading her original Knight Ops series.
What a great start to a new series. This introduces us to action, intrigue and romance. This is going to be a great team series. We are introduced to all of the team members and focus on Nash, the Captain. Nash and his new team head to Mexico, for their first op when Nash catches a glimpse of a guy that has been missing for 10 years.
Nevaeh has just been trying to keep her family together since her brother went missing. After a visit from the Texas Rangers, memories return and hope is renewed that her brother is out there some where. She finds herself in Mexico, looking for clues to the where abouts of her brother when she is ambushed by Nash and his team.
This story takes you on their journey. There is lots of action, suspense, and intrigue. Written as a third person, multi pov. Great story line. Awesome characters (both main and supporting), fantastic descriptions to details and engaging dialogue. All in all, a great read.
Would I recommend this book? Yes
Would I read more from this author? Yes
Sassy Beta Reading and Review

For anyone who loved Knight Ops then this is something you have been waiting for A second team has been set up to combat terrorism in the USA and all of these men may not be brothers like the Knight brothers but they are the next best thing these guys are all Texas Rangers and this first book is about their team leader
Nash Sullivan has just been made the leader of a new task force and he has to get his team to gel as soon as posible and they don't have the advantage of been brothers like the Knights the team they seem to compare them selves to often When he is in Mexico on a mission with his men he sees someone whose face has been on the walls of the rangers for years a man who went missing ten years earlier. When Texas Rangers come asking questions about her brother Nevaeh Vincent knows that something is afoot with holidays due she heads to Mexico looking for answers There she manages to stumble into Nash's mission to find her brother He needs to shut her down before she blows their cover but as they spend more time together he realises she is the woman for him Will they find her brother and do they have a future together and will the team continue or will they be disbanded
Nash is a modern-day knight in shining armor, a man who is fearless when he needs to be, compassionate and tender when he can. Tracking a man who's been missing for ten years isn't easy, but having to protect the man's sister along the way only complicates things further. Nevaeh isn't going to just sit around while someone else looks for her brother, not if there's anything she can do to help.
The writing is top-notch, keeping us fully informed about each of the members of the newly-formed Ranger Ops team and how they're learning to work together to get the job done. I loved the way the author showed how Nevaeh faced the emotional toil of caring for someone who does this kind of work. This is a standalone romance with an HEA that is also the first of a new series that I hope will follow the pattern of the Knight Ops series. These stories are among the very best in modern military hero romances, and I highly recommend them. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Texas Rangers turn Ranger Ops overnight. Nash relishes in taking the lead of his team of former rangers.
Nash and Neveah have an immediate, intense attraction. I wondered if Nash would be able to focus on the task at hand. There wasn't a great deal of communication at the beginning. He seemed to either grunt at her, or seem tongue tied. That evened out later in the book.
I really didn't have a good sense of Neveah's character, once she became involved with Nash. She seemed like a nice person, but was all wrapped up in Nash and her parents. Before Nash, she seemed a bit hard headed, brash, determined, and strong. After Nash, it seemed to me as if her personality dimmed.
There were a couple of unexpected twists and turns. One in particular I thought would have more detailed information about, especially seeing how injuries resulted from the situation.
A pretty fast paced romance with a little sadness, action and suspense along with a HEA. I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy received from the author via Booksprout.
At Close Range is the first story of Em Petrova’s brand new series, Ranger Ops. When the story started, I was unsure whether it would live up to the standard of its predecessor, Knight Ops, but I was soon drawn into the seedy world of crime and violence south of the Mexican border, and the men who form this unlikely band of super-secret heroes.
As with Knight Ops, I’m sure each male lead will have his personal demons and be challenged along the way by an irresistible woman; but what will ultimately draw readers in, will be the depth of camaraderie and understanding that is evident from the very beginning between these physically imposing Alpha males.
I thoroughly enjoyed Nash and Naveah’s story, however it was definitely not all hearts and flowers, and there is an element of insta-love. Danger and adversity also play a huge part in their relationship, and there was a heartbreaking tragedy that brought tears to my eyes. So by the time I got to the end of this book, I was totally hooked and confident that as spin-off series go, this one will certainly be well received by readers. Now I have to wait for Woody’s story and that will undeniably test the limits of my patience; patience…….yep not gonna happen!
Having devoured Em Petrova’s Knight Ops series, a Ranger Ops series was irresistible, and this first book in the series shows that this is a worthy successor. The story of Nash Sullivan, the newly formed Ranger Ops captain, and it’s the story of their first op. Across the border in Mexico on a different mission, Nash sees and recognizes an American who’s been missing for 10 years. The questions that start being asked because of this recognition lead the missing man’s sister, Nevaeh, to try her own mission to Mexico, putting herself in danger. And, of course, Nash and his team intercept her and the sparks between her and Nash are instant. I loved the characters in this new series, and, as always, Petrova has written heat and suspense that leave me wanting more. I can’t wait for the second Ranger Ops book.

Hot New Action Series! As a new series starter, this one is setting the pace of action, intrigue and romance. Loved the storyline intent, the character builds and comradery to make the team. Nash is pretty hot and has that all important "gut" intuition that keeps them alive and their missions successful even when civilians get in their way. Nevaeh is not only a civilian, she's the sister of the man they are trying to bring home. When feelings are added to the mission, there are no guarantees on the outcome, which made for some really good reading. I didn't connect with Nevaeh as I would have liked. I like stronger, smarter females, but that's just my preference, so not a big deal. There's a surprise at the end I'm still boggling over. Nash and Nevaeh do get their HEA but I am wondering if there will be more to this particular mission. I received a copy thru Booksprout and am leaving a review voluntarily.
This is the first book in Ms. Petrova’s new Series Ranger Ops. Nash is a Texas Ranger that has been promoted to Captain of his team. Another member of OFFSUS along with Knight Ops. These men are determined and highly trained in protecting their country and the ones they love. On a mission to Mexico to rescue Antonio Vincent, who disappeared 10 years ago, Nash spots Neveah, Vincent’s sister, asking questions about her brother and putting herself in danger. The attraction between the two is combustible and Nash knows he has crossed the line by acting on his feelings. This has a well written storyline and wonderful characters. It is fast paced and action packed, with intrigue, suspense, and hot chemistry. Can’t wait for the next one. Highly recommend this book. I’m a huge fan of Em Petrova’s. Haven’t read a book yet of hers that I didn’t love.

Neveah's brother, Vincent, has been missing for 10 years. The Rangers show up every so often to inquire if he has contacted her family. On a mission to Mexico, Nash spots Vincent on the street. When he contacts the head office, they send a Ranger to speak with the family again. The agent tells her that there has been a sighting of a man looking like her brother. She decides to go to Mexico to hunt for her brother. When Nash finds out what she is up to, he knows that she is in danger. He takes her under his protection as he continues with his mission. Nash and Neveah are attracted to each other. Can they keep the chemistry be kept under control? Was the man really Vincent? Can Nash protect Neveah and rescue her brother? I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to everyone.

Nash, a Texas Ranger on his first Ranger Ops case, has been sent to Mexico to work on one case but while he's there, he sees someone from a cold case and knows what his next case will be. When he sees Nevaeh, the sister of their cold case Vincent, they are instantly attracted to each other. But he knows that they have to hide her for her own safety and for the sake of their case. 💕💗🔥💕
This is the first book in the Ranger Ops series and it is a spin-off of the Knight Ops series. It is so full of danger, passion, and love that it will pull you in and hold you until the very end. I meant to only read a few chapters and then get some sleep but I couldn't put this one down. But it was so worth it! 😍💖

This was an action packed high intensity military romance in the new spin off from the Knights Ops series Ranger Ops. Captain Nash Sullivan is leading his first mission into Mexico when he comes across a man who has been missing for the past ten years. Having the Texas Rangers question his family causes his sister Nevaeh to go looking for him, investigating on her own, and stirring up trouble before Nash catches her. Their romance was explosive brought on by the emotions Nevaeh feels about the personal situation and the crazy drug dealing and electronic information stealing organization that is holding her brother. There are several scenes going after the bad guys and Nash’s team doesn’t come out unscathed. But he also shows his softer side bringing Nevaeh flowers. I’m looking forward to reading romances about the rest of the trash talking tough guys on his team.
Hot, hero saves the world Nash and Nevaeh's story had me swooning. What's not to like about a strong, hot hero with a heart of gold. Nevaeh's brother has been missing for 10 years. When another round of Texas Rangers comes around asking questions she knows there has to be a lead so she takes matters into her own hands to investigate in Mexico. Nash is on assignment when he spots Nevaeh's brother. Nash also finds Nevaeh asking questions that could get her hurt or worse. He takes her away to protect her and isn't ready for what she does to him. While they search for her brother things get hot between them. They both begin to see that they may not be able to live without one another. I was deeply interested in the suspense and action of the story but also very invested in the love story unfolding.
Nash is sent on a mission with his team to Mexico. When he spots a man that has been missing for ten years he decides he needs to investigate. He didn’t expect to find Nevaeh the man’s sister in Mexico asking questions that could get her killed! He is instantly attracted to her, but the mission must come first! Nevaeh is tired of not knowing what really happened to her brother so she goes to Mexico to find out what happened to him. She is shocked when the hot alpha Nash finds her and is angry with her for putting her life at risk. They must work together to find out what is going on with him brother. Can they fight their attraction to each other? Or will they give into their passion?

Em Petrova writes hot, suspense and thrills filled the romance and action.
People bleed. People die. Action has consequences. Love and life happen anyway. And sometimes either or both get lost. Not just a sex party where a stupid misunderstanding breaks someone up for five minutes.
Intense and gripping. Painful real life like struggles and joys.
One hell of a series and an awesome standalone with a kid gone missing, a family stuck in stasis missing him, and what happens when OFFSUSS gets involved .
I got an advance copy from Booksprout. I read this book on Kindle Unlimited. I am a fan who has either bought from Kindle or borrowed from KU many books in this series and other stories from this author.
Yes - love happens when one least expects it & pulls the rug out from under you. Seeing stars and praying the futures yours! This is it!
Nash a Texas Ranger promoted to Special Ops with a team that anyone would be proud of. He on a mission until a chance encounter changes everything. That breaks open his case & the unexpected connections. Nevaeh has lost a brother ten years ago and the toll on the family devastating! The special Ops mission & the twist and turns intriguing but the romance is the scorcher! You like a fast page turned with a hot dominate male, just might be the book for you! Texas Rangers turned Operation Freedom Flag operators is the premise of this Ranger Ops series. Nash Sullivan heads up the team. You get to meet the team; Woody, Jess, Cavanaugh, Linc and Lennon as well as Penn, Nash's brother. Hopefully the will each have their own story. Nevaeh Vincent is a woman on a mission, perhaps a suicide mission, when she goes to Mexico in search of her brother who's been missing for ten years. She comes on Nash's radar almost immediately and he sets out to not only protect her but to sequester her too. That does not sit well with her. Their attraction is immediate and palpable. Crossing lines is new for Nash but he can't stop. Growing feelings must be set aside as the mission comes first. Successful? Perhaps. Happily ever after, definitely.
This is a solid start to a new series set in the same world as Knight Ops.
We are introduced first to Nash, the hero, and learn how he became leader of a special ops team. Their first mission takes them to Mexico on the trail of an American who disappeared ten years ago.
Then we meet Nevaeh, sister of the missing man, who is also in Mexico looking for him.
The attraction between them is instant, and hot.
The story that follows has action, danger, steam, and humour.
The plot was convincing until near the end of the book when it became somewhat flimsy, and stretched credibility.
