Shane King, CEO of King Steel was attracted to his sexy new attorney, Avarie Ingram at first glance so he went after her until she was his. Yes, people were not too accepting of Avarie's smarts but protective Shane got them told and FAST!
"Retain Me" was a short novella but my, my, my --- it a really memorable good read!

It was good but I felt like it was kind of repetitive. For example, it was continuously mentioned how Avarie could hold her own etc and even some of the sex scenes seemed the same to me.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It had me captivated from the beginning with the hot steamy scenes. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it!

Averie and Shane short circuited my Kindle upon their first time meeting!! No playing coy for either of these two. Their romance was off the charts right along with their business savvy. From the boardroom to the bedroom...and all places in between, this power couple took names and kicked butt!! Love had no color boundaries...well maybe to those who STILL remain ignorant!! Great read and I look forward to reading more in this series.

Shane and Avarie power couple in hiding
Avarie was to become the lawyer in charge of Shane’s companies account. She was there to do what was best for the company. It didn’t bold well for her that she was a woman and black. She had to put a few people in their place for being condescending to her. It was the good old boys club for some. And there were others ready to move on with business.
Peyton put together a good logical clear and connecting short. This was most certainly a lunchtime quickie well worth the time.

This book is meh
When I read the intro to this book, I was looking for a powerful black woman and a powerful white man falling in love as equals. This book was so not about that. The black woman was written as submissive with her powerful white man always to the rescue. I did not enjoy reading this book as much as I thought I would. It seems to be the theme for rhis author in a couple of her books. Maybe she needs to flesh out her characters and make her books a little longer. Everything seems rushed and cliched.

Love it!!
A great read, and I enjoyed it tremendously, not too short,not too long, no dragging, straight to the point. Just like Shane, the man knows what he wants and he wants Avarie , the go-getter, powerful lawyer. Together,they make sense, they belong together,they fit!
I was hoping for a little Shane or little Averie, maybe we will have some babies in Trevor's story. 😁

I love all of your BMWM romance novels. I read lots of them enjoy them and give us a beautiful outlook Interracial relationships. How love has no color. Is Physical and mental attraction , Without judgment on both parts of the families and friends,that will support your relationship. Avarie (lawyer) took over her father’s account with the infamous King brothers company as the top head lawyer. Little did she know that she would also catch the attention of Shane King. She wanted to keep it under wrap. Sometimes you don’t get what you want. Loved the story line, but I had to skip over the sexual content as it was a bit much for me ( yes there was a disclaimer).

I thoroughly enjoyed this short read. Sometimes I feel with short stories they can be so unbelievable as well as a bit cringey but this book was a cute love story.
