Tamsin’s world is turned upside down after her mother’s death. Left to run Wolf Lodge on her own, she must come to terms with her grief and prepare for the spring season. To make matters worse, something is changing inside her.
Rafe is the Alpha of the Cascade Pack. The Clan Meet is quickly approaching, and the location needs to be secured. He calls the lodge. A curt woman answers and informs him of her mother’s passing. Before he can respond, she disconnects.
Mary never spoke of a daughter. Why would she keep such a secret from the Pack? If Tamsin was born a Shifter, a Blood Rite would be called. Challenge after challenge would take place, and the Alpha left standing would claim her as his.
I really loved this book. Romance? Check. Action? Check. The perfect pace to keep me interested without overwhelming me. I like more mature books so this was perfect.
I enjoyed this read. I enjoy the storyline. The only slightly annoying thing is that some sentences don't make much sense even when re-reading. It's confusing a little. Especially if the character is shifting, it's not explicitly said that the person has shifted or still shifted, so you end up wondering if they're in wolf form or human. The POV can be annoying sometimes; they're in the third person; other times, it's a 1st POV, which is confusing. It should be kept as one not switched between the type of POV. Switch who's POV it is, but don't change the type of POV; it confuses the reader. Because of this, I'm not entirely sure I'll read the next one. It will depend on the price. Because the standard of writing isn't excellent quality. It's very amateur
I thought this one would of been a good one, the description had potential but in the end, I was disappointed. Most of the read I was bored and pulling teeth to force the read, hoping it would of improved. I am totally for a female leader but I feel it was too easy. She was instantly great with NO practice. Just bam, she is perfect. Once that was expressed, events got predictable. I won't bother further with this series.
Mc was told surprise after surprise and recovered/had all the knowledge needed immediately. Supporting characters were predictable. Would not recommend.
Blood Rite is the first novel in The Lost Clan Chronicles series by Janelle Peel.
Tamsin’s mother has recently passed leaving the Wolf Lodge within her care. Every year the packs of the US meet for an enclave of sorts at the Lodge, in part due to her mother’s unaligned status. Totally unbeknownst to Tamsin, having always relegated werewolves to fiction of literature.
This work came before the Rogue Witch series. You can experience such different writing styles within their pages comparatively. I didn’t find as much enjoyment in Tamsin’s journey as I had hoped to.
It’s an interesting twist on werewolf literature. The differing classes of everyday weres, Royals, and even those whom don’t possess a twin.
I got totally hooked by the story. The POVs and the dialogs with the wolves twins added more interactions and interest to the plot. However, the fact that the POVs are written at the third person is sometimes confusing and made the reading a bit difficult. They are a LOT of name to remember in this book so I recommend reading it without a break otherwise you will forget who is who. In my opinion, Tamsin, the FMC, accepted too easily her new life as a shifter and then as an alpha. One day she didn't know anything about this world and the next day she's in charge, mastering her role and her shift... It was too fast.
This was a cool story. The concept of the wolf twin, totally original and awesome. You do need to give yourself time to understand the twin and how it works, but once you know that, you just want to keep reading. I read this book in a day. I didn’t want to put it down. And once I finished the book, I wanted the next one. Tamsin, what can I say, I want to be her! And Rafe, he is delicious. Yum. I can’t wait to read more. Janelle, bravo.
You did good Janelle. Looking forward to Book 2 that I have already bought. The genre of being a shifter without knowing is almost always entertaining but your take was even more unique than the average. The MFC, Tamsin, is another strong female trying to navigate a new and dangerous world. Her an Rafe have issues but learn that together they can face the evil that confronts then. Thanks again. Please keep up the good work.
This is the first book that I have read by Ms Peel, and I admit that she gets you from the first paragraph. She makes her story come alive from the start. Even though it's science fiction, it's very believable. I'm looking forward to more of her future works. Susan Peterson
This was a great book for those who enjoy reading paranormal romance. The characters were striking and full bodied. She wrote a page turner story you could not put down. You couldn't wait for the rest of the story to unfold. The next book will take you even further into their world as the story continues. Don't miss out on a great read!
I like the story and the characters. However, it is difficult at times to keep track of the story for two combined reasons: each person has two souls with different names and the story switches POV every two pages. I can't keep track of who everyone is and their distinct role in the story.
This book is definitely different than I'm use to reading. I generally read young adult because I dont like reading a book that describes sexual activity. But I got hooked on the book before any sign of that. I really did enjoy the story. A definitely different twist on shifters than I'm used which I think was a big part of the reason I was hooked
Loved this story it was disturbing and frustrating it had so the ingredients to keep me riveted. The characters were surprisingly realistic with social problems and tragedies that touched the heart. Kudos to the Author's ingenuity. Enjoy fellow readers.😊
This is an interesting take on wolf shifters. It also has the I am woman hear me roar vibe that is really well done. The characters were also well thought out. Overall it was a satisfying read.
I was absorbed into this book. Highly recommended. The only thing was that cliffhanger and now the wait until book 2 is released, I want to cry but thats because I loved it so much and I need more.
So this was really good. Descriptions were vivid, characters interesting, but by god that ending pissed me off more than I can say. How can you leave it on such a cliff hanger??
Have this book a chance even though it was low on reviews. Good story and fast paced. Definitely glad I have it a shot. Looking forward to the next book.
This book is really awsome. It starts off right away no slow build up. I love books that start this way. And it doesn't slow down just keeps coming with the hits.
