Scorched: Book 1 of the Scorched Trilogy

His touch was a revelation, but he was full of secrets. It's been two years since the death of my parents. I have no recollection of that night except for the small pieces that come to me in nightmares. People say I'm responsible. But I have no memory. Could I be guilty?I'd thought the mark on my arm was a scar from the fire until he showed up with one that was eerily similar to mine. It's just one of the mysteries that surround him. Still, I'm drawn to him in ways I can't explain. Every time we touch I feel the spark. There's a connection between us that disarms and overwhelms me. But he carries secrets about my past that will change my future forever. Trusting him might be the smartest or most foolish thing I've ever done. But what wouldn't I do to learn the truth about my past? This is Book 1 of the Scorched Trilogy. It is a full-length novel. This book is an upper YA and includes cursing and mature situations.

This is the first time I have read a book by lizzy prince and I was very luck to receive and advanced cope of the book. can I say I loved the first book in this trilogy and can’t wait for the second book to find out what happens to Annie and Munro. Annie just wants to live a normal life but has been through so much already as both her parents die in a fire and she was the only Survivor and she was taken in by her best friends mum. Then on her 18th birthday she goes to a club with her best friend and she feels some watching her from across the room but does get to see how it is. Then a new boy starts at the school and she gets the same feeling as she did in the club and it turns out to be a boy call Munro . I love how there relationship develops and he tells her she is a witch and he helps her to learn how to use and control her magic. It has been left on a cliff hanger and I can’t wait for the second book to find out what happens next. I loved the story line and the characters in this book

Now I need to say this is part one so the ending will lead to the next story and what it means for Annie and her loved ones. I haven’t read a series like this will be for a few years, it’s all told from Annie’s POV so we won’t get what Munro is thinking which would have been nice in a few of these chapters, but he has to stay all mysterious, typical. Lol.

Losing parents in a house fire not sure how it happened but losing your loving family is devastating. But Annie finds a home with a loving mother and a sister her age that they both adore Annie, I love reading with loving people bring in a new member into their family and treat her just like she’s blood. But her nightmares keep her up bring to her different things as later when she learns a secret that her parents kept from her and what she really is capable of. But with teenager girl there has to be a boy in there so we meet Munro , now he has dark secret he keeps until close to the end and what his past and what that did to Annie’s past and present will cause her future to look uncertain.

I really enjoyed the first book in the Scorched Trilogy. The book begins with the celebration of Annie's 18th birthday. Annie tries to live a normal teenage life- that is, as normal as your life can be as the sole survivor of the fire that killed your parents. After her 18th birthday, Annie's anxiety and nightmares come back in full force.

Meanwhile, a new boy starts popping up in Annie's life. She first sees Munro at the club on her birthday and then at her school. When she's around him, Annie notices an electric feeling that she can't explain. As she gets to know Munro, he finally tells Annie that she is a witch.

Annie has to learn how to tap in to and control her magic, manage her PTSD from the fire, and keep up her normal social life. This book has a great plot and even better characters. I can't wait to see what happens in book two!

Annie, a, would be normal eighteen year old, if it wasn’t for the nightmares and the anxiety attacks from the fire that killed her parents two years ago. Once her birthday arrived all sorts or strange things started to happen and one of them was Munro.

It all starts on a night out for Annie’s birthday and she sees a mysterious man watching her from a dark corner of a club, but this pull that she feels draws her closer and closer to him until she is almost right in front of him then bam! Maggie, her best friend, tells her it’s time to go. But that lingering feeling of electricity keeps her charged and wanting to know more.

Annie doesn’t have the best starting relationship with the irresistible Munro, due to the fact she seems to pass out each time they are in company! But as it turns out it’s because she drains herself of her magic that she possesses as she is actually a very powerful witch, which comes as a surprise but deep down it’s almost like it all makes sense.

The main story of Annie I found really interesting, initially, I did find parts of the story a little repetitive. Annie kept blacking out, being really tired, basically exhausted, in some of these scenes and it just seemed that we weren’t really getting further in the story just the same issues that Annie was having. But it soon becomes evident as to why when you finally find out that she is a witch. You are provided with some of the answers that you have on the tip of your tongue, the history behind her past but of course more questions arise, which keeps you reading on, for those answers!!

The characters from this story are well developed and I’m really looking forward to find out more about them. I did feel a little upset that once Munro came onto the scene he did sort of replace Maggie as she sort of disappears a little, which is odd as they are the best of friends, but Maggie makes an appearance at the end which I would hopefully assume she is back in book two?

Prince has created a brilliant story. She managed to get me on the edge of my seat in anticipation, felt the tense and intimate relationship of Annie and Munro, laughed out loud at the reactions from the characters and sad that I had finished it so quickly, but I had to know!!!

I really enjoyed this book and I’m a little excited to see what the second book has to offer!

This is the 1st book I've read written by Lizzy Prince; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I will definitely be reading more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the chemistry between the characters.

I received a free copy of this book via booksprout and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.

Where to begin except WOW. I have never read anything by Lizzy prior to this novel and I will continue on with this series!
We began with meeting the main character Annalise (Annie) 2 year prior to main story in a tragic event that spiraled her life into what it is today.
The writing style was easy reading and so much depth about the emotions and surrounding events of the novel I felt sucked in and had to keep reading to see what would happen next. I look forward to the next novel in this series

Okay

This was okay YA supernatural romance. Unfortunately, this book contained my least favorite YA romance trope, which is an MC that can't seem to stay conscious. Our MC is constantly passing out and needing to be saved. There is also the overuse of words and phrases, like the many references to Munro's accent and how our MC can always feel him nearby. If this was a werewolf book I would say they are fated mates, but it's not, which makes those references kind of strange. And there are a lot of them. Maybe in future books we will find out that they are some how fated to be together. The book isn't bad. There just isn't anything special about it and I'm on the fence about reading the next one. It's not a sure thing.

Too slow and boring

Not sure why this was 5 stars. The storyline was too slow. Couldn't get into the story and the characters. Too much back story and details on the mc school life. Confused as where the story was heading. Boring read...DNF.
