Tanner is a country boy who is pressed into the army due to the upcoming battle with the powerful kingdom of Tavor. During his train up, Tanner insults a powerful magic user and is scheduled to die in a duel with said mage as a result. It was during this battle that Tanner discovered a power not seen before, the ability to dispel magic. Tanner quickly becomes to the attention of the King who wants to use Tanner as a guard to protect his daughter and as an assassin to fight against the mages of Tavor.
I know a bunch of you have been asking exactly you the heck I am. First off, my name is Whiskey Flowers, I was active duty army and now I am a proud member of the New Mexico National Guard. In my day job, I am a corrections officer, I watch the best and brightest Albuquerque has to offer and make little money doing it. I am originally from Oakland, California, home of dumbasses and knuckleheads everywhere where I attempted to become their leader until the army put me on a different path. As many of you have pointed out, I never got my high school diploma, I am a GED student but I make it look good. If any of you are ever in New Mexico and want a drinking partner, I got you.
First off I want to mention that the description on Amazon has nothing to do with this book but it was amusing enough for me to give this book a read, I'm extremely glad that I did! This is by far one of the best trilogies I have ever read. I loved everything about Tanner and deemed him worthy of everything that he got (except his wife dying of course). If you enjoy the Reddit sub Pro Revenge then this book will be a delight to you, actually I can't see anyone not loving this book unless they are just horrible people with horrible hearts. 10/10
I previously read the first two books in this volume, "Sword of Ages" and "The Helm of Time". Both written under the pseudonym of A. l. Isset. In the first book Tanner, a 16 year old boy, is drafted in a war with Tavor. He shows unique skills and is immediately caught up in adventures and romance with his home town girl. In the second book, "The Helm of Time", Tanner has retired from the war and is living happily with his wife, Mary. She is kidnapped by the new leader of the Kingdom to force Tanner back into the war effort. He swears to kill her kidnapper when he gets back from the war. In the third book, The Hammer of Champions, also under the pseudonym Isset, a bitter Tanner becomes brothers with the Barbarians and conquers all the kingdoms, redraws boundaries and creates new kingdoms. He spares his home kingdom of Ket at the last minute. Will he be able able to overcome his bitterness and be happy again?
Have you read Kel Kade? The MC is sort of like that, he can do crazy crap to magic, but his personality is totally different. He gives no crap to what anyone says, and has some awesome insults.
An enjoyable straightforward book, but don't expect a super involved plot, or convoluted storytelling. This is just about a man making his way and killing what he wants, and doing what he feels.
This author has a strange sense of humor, right down my alley. The story follows the hero, Tanner, through his life and his troubles. He is sold as a slave and .... Well I won't give any spoilers here. Just suffice it to say it one he'll of a ride.
I hope everyone hAs as good a time reading it as I did.
Right now I am going out to look for other works by Mr. Flowers.
Written exactly like every Whiskey Flowers book. Some peasant boy with magic/special abilities is hated by the nobles. The first quarter percent of the book is rage baiting crap usually involving torture or r*pe to get the reader really upset. Literally everybody except the main character has it out for him and will commit horrible attrocities. The rest of the book involves the main character getting excusable self defense situations and just murdering and excessively goring nobles while ranting about how wronged he's been and he'll never forgive anybody.
I'm not kidding, the last 3/4 of the book is just ~250 page mini stories of an angsty teen beheading people and screaming about how he'll kill anybody that insults him (and yet the nobles just keep doing it, otherwise the reader couldn't get their justice boners going.)

Enjoyable reading, low price good quality writing!
I liked it and found it an enjoyable reading time. The MC Tanner takes no crap and is confident and overconfident in many of his adventures. I found it well worth reading and if you are on a budget can’t beat the price. The author said it is a form of therapy for him to write. I enjoy his therapy and I find my therapy is to read so I call it a win win! So far any of your books I have picked (been interested) I have enjoyed reading. I am sure I will be reading more and I do not mind paying for your efforts. Granted you are charging small amount for the quality and my enjoyable reading time.
I remember reading the first book years ago. I discovered this trilogy by accident and totally enjoyed reading not only the first book again but reading the rest!! What a fantastic read I really enjoyed it. Though I read about (spoiler alert) #### death right before bed. Trying to use a CPAC when you have tears in your eyes and the resulting stuffy nose did not work well. Thank you for taking the time to write,it is greatly appreciated.
Really funny MC talking all kinds of shit enlivens a traditional mage warrior story. There are editing failures that progressively worsen. Then it devolves to shit-talking and practically stream of consciousness story writing. The drama is handled poorly. This is an unfinished work rushed to publication.
I really enjoyed the story, how it was written, the way the author seemed to bring me right into the joy and the angst. Really looking forward to more by Whiskey Flowers.
Really good story. Pacing is perfect. Characters are well developed. The magic is really interesting. It was a really good Trilogy. There was a few dirty parts in first book, which was great. Wish it had more of that and I wished the MC could meta few more ladies, specially in later books.
At the end of book 2, I was so mad Tanner did not kill Edmond. Then mad again at the start of book 3. He has killed hundreds but not the architect ot his wife's murder? BS. However, by the end of book 3, I'm like, this is the saddest book ever.
I read a bunch of the reviews and a lot of them were worried about being grammatically correct….. I seriously doubt that anyone who has read the story and got carried away with really give a damn about grammar as long as they understand what’s going in
Still the same thing with this writer,he has the mc hate everyone but then he helps s the people that has hurt him the most!! Most of his books want to be harem books but he just can't quite get there yet
No matter what combination of family members wrote this it is still one of the best. Detail and story line is wonderful. Whiskey is a great writer and I look forward to all his books.
Another good book from this author. It was like 4 or 5 books rolled into 1. I'll definitely be reading more from this author when ever his next book comes out.
