Nikki Davis and Malik (Volt Kindred)
I just loved so much Nikki, the lonely exhausted mother of three ungrateful kids with the lying cheating husband! She needed a change of scenery so badly.
Malik the sweet but powerful Kindred with the ability of producing electricity was also such a nice guy and exactly what Nikki needed. His story with his destroyed planet is so incredible sad and his sacrifice to stay with a heartless mistress from Yonnie Six is admirable. All the fans know what the planet Yonnie Six requires for the males.
On the other hand while I was reading the story of Nikki and her bitchy alter ego Mistress Hellenix, I realised that being so absolutely mean sometimes it has its value. Nikki's ex husband definitely deserved some of her bitchiness and cruelty LOL.
Highly recommended if you are a fan of the series. Commander Sylvan and his Sophia also have a nice scene in the book.

I was originally reading To Sir Philip, With Love by Julia Quinn, but as I have that in paperback form, I couldn't read it while working out at the gym. I started this book instead, and when I got home, I continued reading it because it was so much more compelling even though Sir Philip was supposed to be my next book.
Nikki's life sucked before she was magically transported with the help of a special stone into the life of her exact genetic match, a Yonnie Six mistress. She and Mistress Hellenix trade places. Malik, Mistress Hellenix's body slave, is a Volt Kindred (I thought we had met one before, but I think it was Pyro Kindred) who has willingly placed himself as Hellenix's body slave so he can save his planet, which has been taken over by an AI (especially relevant now! I think AI is starting to go too far & shouldn't be worked on more before it takes everyone's jobs).
I felt like Nikki and Malik knew each other for 2 days before realizing they were in love!! It was too short of a time span to be believable.
The whole thing on Uriel 2 was really interesting, and I'm always amazed at how Evangeline comes up with these plots with the time travel, etc. It reminded me of Shade's book, which was quite complicated logistically to think up.
I was amazed at how Mistress Hellenix was able to fix and better Nikki's life so well, and I would have loved to have gotten that story.
Instead of having a sex scene between Ari and Lathe, the previous couple, we got one between Sophia and Sylvan. I like Sylvan, but Sophia always seems a little boring in comparison. I don't know why.
I think I'm starting to get tired of all the human heroines being plus-sized 😂. There is probably some skinny-shaming in the book: 1) Nikki's coworker who is her rival is described as "smug, skinny" 2) Mistress Hellenix's rival/enemy is rail-thin. It's super subtle, but it's something I've picked up from reading a lot of her books.
That being said, I still look forward to reading more Evangeline Anderson books.

Very ‘Twisted’!
I was somewhat disappointed with this book. The earlier Kindred books had solid d stories, although the sex was erotic it wasn’t too bad, easy to skip through. His book is really ‘Twisted’ though. I think it’s more pornographic than erotic and it’s pretty hard to miss. If you like erotica and pornography then you’ll like this book but, if not, then I’d advise you to skip it. I’m becoming very disillusioned with this series. I’ve skipped a lot of the books and I don’t feel like wasting any more money on them. I’ve given it three stars because it is well written and has a bit of a background story and, of course, there are many readers who will love it. Just not for me.

Long, fun science fiction romance erotica. I liked both characters immensely and the crazy sexual alien situations this author comes up with are always entertaining. I enjoyed the read.

The best part of this "I switched places with an Alien Dominatrix" novel was the part where the Alien Dominatrix slapped the heroine's thieving, cheating bum of a husband into shape.
By whipping him and dressing him up in black latex shorty-shorts and the highest whore-heels she could find in his size, lol. Best moment in the whole series, probably.
The "evil" Alien Dominatrix also made sure the heroine was respected at work and by the school board. Her three sons started helping with chores, doing their homework etc.
Obviously Mistress Hellenix was the true MVP of the novel.
Unfortunately, this novel wasn't about her. It about the goodie-goodie heroine who couldn't puit her foot down IRL and some kind of hunky sex slave as they tried to turn back time and avert the destruction of some no-one-cares kinda planet. Uh, yeah.
How could anyone waste such a great idea and write novel B instead??????
I don't know. No romance EA could ever write is more satisfying than to see her gross, snivelling macho exes brought to tears. The exes she writes are always THE WORST kind of garbage men.
And yet in the final chapter the heroine begged Mistress Hellenix not to take her worthless scum of a husband with her as a slave without rights because her sons need their father????? I know right it was insane.
If I were Hellenix I would not have been polite to the stupid woman who would reject such a MASSIVE favor. wow

I didn’t really connect with this one for some reason. Didn’t dislike it either. I’d say 2.5 stars but I rounded up.
I’m going to put this here because it’s the most recent one of these I’ve read, not because this is particular to this book. But I have a bit of a bone to pick with the author. I appreciate the way she has plus size heroines. It’s rare in romance novels, so it’s refreshing. Although I have to say that it’s becoming a bit too much. Skinny girls deserve good guys (read: Kindred) too. But in this series, the only skinny heroines I recall came from other planets. So all the skinny (or between skinny and plus size) women of Earth are stuck with Earth guys (read: weak, usually fat and balding, frequently abusive or just neglectful, also usually cheaters). As someone without access to a Kindred warrior in real life, I wouldn’t mind reading about a decent human male from time to time. And as I said, I’m of the opinion that non “elite” Earth girls deserve good guys too.

Twisted : Brides of the Kindred 23 - Evangeline Anderson

Kindred #23 is a fantastic story that includes old worlds (Yonnie 6, Mothership, and new worlds with amazing new characters. I love that the heroine is a little older (thank goodness) with children, a cheating stealing horrid soon to be ex husband, and a Volt Kindred (yes they carry electricity) who is one of the last of his kind.
There are several “Twists “ in the series, the first being when Nikki, the heroine, has lost all hope and is contemplating drowning herself when she finds a special stone in the ocean that exchanges her with her doppelgänger on Yonnie 6. This matriarchal horrible culture treats males as less than human slaves and many use pain and cruelty to control their slaves.
Nikki meets Malik the Mistresses main slave, who gets her thru impersonating her doppelgänger so that she is not caught (could mean death), until she is able to return to earth. Part of the E’lo stone exchange is she and mistress must uphold each other’s lives although that’s as also open to some loose interpretation they had to use creatively.
Malik must use Nikki to go back to his planet Uriel 2 which has been taken over by an AI, so that he can try to reverse time and save his people.
Nikki who is meek, modest and often a victim of lifes’ circumstances has to brave up and learn to overcome many of her weaknesses. She also has to accept a hunky Kindred finding her desirable and beautiful despite being plus size single mom who is in her late 30’s. Nikki must not only learns to love herself but embrace her sexuality and ability to be cherished.
I found it quite interesting (another twist) that despite the horrible despicable ways the Yonnie Mistress treats people and her slaves, some of her assertiveness, self confidence and ability to manage people are traits that Nikki desperately needs so the life exchange with the Yonniite is surprisingly not all negative .
Besides the twists and turns the storyline takes, emotions run full range in this exciting, suspenseful, emotional book (including the author’s unique writing of sensual erotic scenes and romantic love). It is also laced with humor and a surprising HEA, with introductions of characters that we will hopefully seeing soon in future stories (Dark). A totally original, unique, wonderfully creative, well written full length novel,awesome addition to the Kindred Bride series.

🌩️ This is largely the usual "vanilla FMC goes on a kink/femdom tourism, is vaguely disgusted by some of it, and remains mostly vanilla". She does seem to reach a place where she enjoys dominance a little, but I don't think we ever really got to see her embrace it.

🌩️ The pegging scene was hot except , so that kinda made the scene less hot for me. Pegging is only fun if both parties are thoroughly into it
🌩️ The ""body positivity"" in these books still grate for me. The women are "plus-size"/curved and beautiful despite their stretchmarks and grey hair. But all human men mentioned are "flabby" with bellies and balding heads. There is a sympathy extended to the female characters that is really not carried over to the men. And when I say women, I mean a specific type of women. This book shames "skinny" women a lot. It's something I feel like is in every kindred book I've read so far, and I really wish we didn't have to tear others down to feel good about ourselves.

Loved it!!
I really loved this story. The couple was amazing and it made me tear up. The whole BDSM doesn't usually work for me depending on how hardcore it gets but this was great!! On to the next one!!

Twisted is the 23rd instalment in the wonderfully creative author, Evangeline Anderson’s Brides of the Kindred Series. Each time I pick up a new story in this series I feel in awe of this fabulous writer. She is able to continue to create unique and engrossing storylines time and time again.
Twisted is no exception to that rule. This story draws you in you can feel compassion to the beautiful heroine of the story. Nicole is under appreciated and has let people get away with too much for too long. Thankfully her genetic twin can for once do some good in her life and make those around Nicole appreciate her efforts.
The story surrounds Nicole who unintentionally picks up a E’lo stone whilst walking on the beach contemplating just how bad she feels her life has become and whether she should end her life. Instead she is transferred to another universe and the body of her genetic twin, Mistress Hellenix. While Nicole awakens in a new body and tries to figure out what has happened Mistress Hellenix awakens in the body of Nicole on Earth. The two only have precious moments to open a link to exchange what each needs to know to get back to their own body. However, Mistress Hellenix is very well known on Yonnie 6 and it doesn’t take long for our hero of the story to unfold the truth in what is happening.
Malik is a Volt Kindred and also the slave of Mistress Hellenix. He has surrendered to daily humiliation and neglect in order to do one thing. Ten years ago his world was obliterated by an AI and the only way to get back his world back is to become a slave and wait his time before he would be invited back to his home world where he can set things right.
I absolutely loved this story. It had everything. Glimpses of older favourite Kindreds and their brides, hot sex, bad guys, new worlds and intriguing enough an insight into the Mistress we have all grown to love. As usual I loved the ending where we get to see what is installed for us in the next book. I cant wait!

Ok. So… I liked this one because I am into femdom. And even this crazy sci-fi set up helps me gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics.
If you look at how I shelved this book u will see the type of femdom in here. Pegging and chastity cages being predominant.
What I didn’t like.. well.. if yiu have read as many of the kindred books as I have you may recognize an annoying pattern. (Especially when u listen to the audio books, those are very obvious and annoying!)
See if you know where I am going with this..
Some annoying quotations:
“All…all right,” Nikki breathed.
“Well…” She bit her lip. “I…I suppose one kiss can’t hurt.”
“Of, of course—what do you want me to do?”
“Oh…oh, of course.” Nikki nodded. “I…I see,” she murmured.
“And this time make…make my honey come down.”
“You…you’re welcome.”
“I…I don’t…” She could barely get the words out…
“You…you’re already on your knees,” Nikki pointed out, rather breathlessly.
NEED I GO ON?
Seems like most of her heroines can’t complete sentences and are sputtering weaklings. And THIS CHICK is supposed to be convincingly impersonating the harshest dominatrix in the galaxy! Come on man. It is annoying to read and even more annoying to listen to. (I am currently listening to “Guarded by the Hybrid”.) but thy all basically sound like this.
So, as far as the Kindred books go, I was happy to delve into the femdom world but.. can’t we toughen these chicks up a little bit? At least make them coherent?

WOW!!! Thanks a lot Evangeline Anderson you made me cry at work. So my advice would be do not read this at work. It has parts that will make you laugh, cry, squirm over the heated steamy parts, and it even has parts that will make you angry on some of the character’s behalf. This to me is a sign of a great story. When an author can reach way down deep in your soul and stir all kinds of emotions. It truly is a book that you can not put down.
I found the twist that the author took on this story very interesting. The way Nikki Davis found her way on Yonnie Six was very interesting. I think Nikki needed that break away and I believe that Goddess knew what she was doing when she had her hands in seeing Nikki got that break.
I have to say in the past books when Malik the Volt Kindred was brought in the story I have been wanting to know more about him. I found him very interesting. He had that dark mystery about him that made him sexy.
Reading this I did not only have a great respect for Nikki but for Malik as well. Malik was so willing to sacrifice so much to right a wrong. But through this he also found a strength in Nikki that helped him with this decision and I feel not only did Malik make a great sacrifice but so did Nikki.
I truly loved this story and look forward to more books coming out in this series.
I found the twist that the author took on this story very interesting. The way Nikki Davis found her way on Yonnie Six was very interesting. I think Nikki needed that break away and I believe that Goddess knew what she was doing when she had her hands in seeing Nikki got that break.

A tremendous addition to this wonderful series….
Nikki had never thought when she was up against a wall that the Goddess surprises her by completely shaking her perspective up totally, this story was completely full of twists and turns that Evangeline Anderson is so very good at writing keeping her readers on their toes, once again she excels at this and it was a wonderful read.
The story itself was a little bit of a tear jerker, as a reader able to totally immerse yourself in the plot and the characters then you will not be disappointed the characters and the plot has been written absolutely wonderfully so that you will most definitely be unable to put the book down once you have started.
When you read through the books you will be only too happy to discover that there is a wonderful closure to this book so that you will be only too happy that you read this next book in the series.

Evangeline Anderson twists the romance universe, leading the reader on a path never taken before. Although I've read all 23 of the Brides books, this one had me holding my breath. Deliciously happy to desperately sad...this one journeys like a roller coaster through highs and lows and several very sharp turns.

This was another instalment in the Brides of the Kindred and featured Malik, a Volt Kindred and Nicole, a woman who gets switched with her VERY nasty counterpart, a woman from Yonnie Six. This is not my favourite of the series although there were some really funny moments (the fate of Nicole’s dreadful soon-to-be ex-husband for one). I did like the relationship between Malik and Nicole (what’s not to love with a Kindred). However, the ending just fell flat for me. I think I wanted to see more of the aftermath as Malik and Nicole and the boys build a life together. Still, if you are a fan of the Kindred, I don’t think you will mind those details too much!

What I truly love about these books is how you get completely immersed into the kindred world. As with all the other kindred books I was unable to put this book down once I started and found myself addicted to Malik and Nikkis story, and my heart just about melted. The real world kind of stops existing whilst I’m reading as I become so involved and unfortunately tend to get rather annoyed when I have to take a break.
This is such an amazing addition to the kindred series and you won’t be disappointed.

I enjoyed this story of an overworked mother of two with an ungrateful husband and a volt Kindred that is trying to change the past. Nikki is unexpectedly swapped with a mistress on Yonnie Six and is thrust into another world counter to her own. She must find her inner diva and strength to pull off pretending to be her alter ego. Malik is the volt Kindred body slave to Mistress Hellenix who doesn't know why she is acting different. Nikki and Malik must work together to get her home and to get him what he needs to change the past for his planet. Along the way they find there is more to their relationship and a future they had only dreamed of before finding each other. Good read
I have a hard time rating Kindred stories because I either really love them or they are just ok. This book is a little better than ok but not great. I liked the relationship between Malik and Nicole. I also liked the ending with Nicole’s kids and her hubby. Very fitting and very appropriate.
Most Kindred novels have them developing feelings so fast. I know it’s a different world, but I really don’t like that quick love. Feels like it has no depth. In some areas there was too much detail ( like the description of the room they were in and the non-appliances on Malik’s home planet). Other areas not enough details. Overall though, it held true to the Kindred universe so I definitely did not dislike it.

I have been a big fan of this series and this one does not disappoint. Nikki is at her end point and when she is in desperate need of some changes the goddess gives this to her with some unique changes in perspective. The story is chalk full of twist and turns that will keep you at the edge of your seat and plenty of steam that will make you squirm around as well. You should be warned though that this particular tale might even make you shed a tear or two, but a well told tale should envoke an emotion or two from the reader. Do not overly fret though this author will not leaving you dangling on a limb and will mend your heart at the end. Be prepared for a full coaster ride of a read.

Another great book in this series!
You go to the beach to think and to contemplate killing yourself. You step into the ocean and step on something that pricks your foot. When you reach down you find a small purple stone and then are suddenly transported to another planet. You are suddenly the mistress of over 100 male slaves that are kept in a state of sexual tension and are only allowed to climax when you give them permission. One of these slaves is there of his own free will and is after an artifact that the mistress owns. You will have to read the book to find out everything that takes place and to find out what happens to the mistress and the slave.

I swear this series just keep getting better and better. I was super excited to finally read Malik story, He had been mentioned in the previous book and I had been intrigue ever since then. This fast-paced read had plenty of laughable moment, intrigue, action, and of course steamy romance to keep you hook from beginning to end. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read. Love this series and this book. The character of Malik is pretty intense. He has sold himself as a body slave, knowing the horrors that would happen to him, all because there is a chance to save his world. And the Sophie is definitely a woman with really low self esteem. Terrible husband and children that walk all over her are only the beginnings of her problems. But the goddess always has a plan. I loved the constant unexpected events. Yes it has a happily ever after, but the fun is in the journey. And a very hot, fun and dangerous journey it is.

I was so excited to get Malik's story and I was not disappointed. Nikki switches places with one of the Mistresses from Yonnie Six and ends up being Malik's mistress. Nikki is a kind hearted person and Malik knows there's something wrong. They end up coming to an agreement to help each other. I loved how Nikki was decisive and knew what she wanted but was also realistic. They were such a great couple, I laughed, cried, and yelled at my kindle. I'm so excited for what's next!

Another entertaining tale in the world of the Kindred. Ordinary wife and mother Nikki finds herself hurtling through space swapping places with her doppelgänger. Totally opposite in personalities, Nikki finds herself being a dominating mistress with slaves. When it seemed like it was about to wrap up I looked down at my kindle and saw an hour and a half to go. So many twists and turns, the story took off again. As usual a little hint of what's to come in the next story. I can't wait to read it.

This was a great edition to this series Nikki was so compassionate and caring towards her family and Malik a Volt Kindred. I love the story plot of the body switch and seeing Nikki figure out how to be a mistress.. The chemistry between Malik and Nikki is smoking hot together these 2 fights together to accomplish there mission. I totally feel in love with this book I can't wait to read the next book.

It's a cute book, a bit stupid in the depth of the female character and her reasoning, but the whole thing was nothing unexpected. There was some sweet angst in the end when they had to separate but hea was guaranteed from the beginning.
Kudos for one extremely sexy scene where the female has to perform with her male in front of a whole crowd of women and the scene is testing out a pegging dildo. It's without a doubt the sexiest pegging situation ever. Just for that, I give it 4 stars.

Was a bit disappointed ; have loved the others in this series, and was looking forward to reading more about Malik. Nicole was the problem..just too much of a prudish doormat, but who didn't seem to care about slaves, as long as she didn't have to hurt them. Not too sure about the results back on earth caused by her doppelganger. Good to meet old friends though..hopefully we'll return to strong, capable women next book.

I love the kindred. This is a twisted tale about changing realities and trying to find their way home. From the beginning until the end, this twisted tale will keep your attention. It has great characters and an intriguing storyline. I would definitely recommend it.
