Ever since I started this series, I was suuuuper curious about Robby. Not only did I love his character (he's the sweetest person EVER), but I wanted to know more about him, about his past. After finishing his book, all I can say is wow! I don't really read m/m romances hardly EVER (in fact, I've only read like 2), but I could NOT pass on Robbie's story.

As always, Jen Davis has an undeniable talent with words. He stories flow smoothly and perfectly. Everything reads as if you were literally having the conversations yourself (inner dialogue included).

Robby had a horrible and definitely traumatizing past that left him scarred in many ways. So to say my heart broke for him would be an understatement. All the feeeeellllsss!!

A complete loner, Matt didn't really know who he was. In fact, he was completely clueless to everything, including Robby's crush on him. We didn't really know much about him, other than he had issues with his ex, a kid, and worked on the construction crew with the rest of the guys we've come to love.

Which brings me to Brick and Kane. I absolutely LOVE these two and I loved even more how they cared about Robby and his happiness and how they always included him (and Matt) in everything, like family dinners. It was more than a treat seeing more of these two characters and their stories.

"Robby" was a story that went beyond being a romance. It was about two people healing and finding their way, not just in life, but together. Even if you don't read m/m books, give this one a try. Robby and Matt's story will definitely pull on your heartstrings.

Five stars!

Despite vowing I wouldn't read this book after really disliking book 2 about Kane, I ended up caving anyway... and boy, I wish I didn't.
It's not that this book is bad per se, it's just that it felt terribly unrealistic. While I appreciate the heavier topics, LGBTQ rep and Robby's sordid past, because I know those things actually happen in the real world, it was Matt and Robby's rushed relationship with him that I had a problem with.

After hanging out like 2 times, Matt elevates Robby to best friend status. Pretty soon after, they become lovers, and I just didn't buy it. Maybe if this book had been a little longer, I would've gone with it, but it just didn't click with me.
The smutty scenes were hot though.

The latest installment of Davis’ Cooper Construction Series completely pulled me in. I’ve been intrigued by Robby since we first met him in Brick and I was eager to learn more about him. I was so excited to find out that he was getting his book and couldn’t wait to dive into it.

From the beginning, I’ve loved Robby. He’s so sweet and caring, he’s what really holds the group together. Even with all of that, it was clear there was more there, more underneath, and I needed to find out what. Add in all that Matt brought to the story and we had quite a bit going on. There was pain, heartache, confusion, excitement, passion, and so much more. Their lives were messy and things weren’t easy but nothing good ever is. I couldn’t put this down, I had to see if they felt the same.

I enjoyed getting to spend time with the rest of the characters, too. It was fun seeing where they were in their lives and relationships. I’m really enjoying this series and I’m excited for more.

I've loved and adored every single book in this series but Robby had my heart from the beginning. He was so obviously a little bit broken but extremely sweet. He befriended Brick and Kane, surrounding himself with friends, but needed that special loved one too.
I had no idea how Matt was ever going to be good enough for my darling Robby.
Luckily, Davis brought the goods. In this story, we see them bonding over video games and a shared sense of humour. They were so right for each other, and their love ease fix the damage each carried from their previous lives.
Did I mention that Matt was a single father? I LOVE single fathers.
Robby had a long way to go to love himself after the horrendous events he suffered. Fair warning, this is dark romance. But he got there and this has a lovely HEA.

I've been wondering how long it would take for this lady to finish this book. I loved her first two and I knew that this would be a bomb. Not everyone has an open mind about this subject but love is love, right?
Jen Davis has given me two epic books and I know that her next ones will be just as amazing. Her writing is raw and wild, forbidden and intense, beautiful and carnal. It's amazing and you should read her work.
Robby is her latest release and it's the third book from the Cooper Construction series.
This new book explores the lives of Robby and Matt.
Robby didn't have an easy life. No one could imagine the things he endured behind that sweet face, a bit awkward and shy attitude.
Matt wants to do his job and mind his own business. He's a wild wolf that wants peace and quiet.
How can you truly see what's right in front of you if you refuse to pay attention?
I'm speechless... I'm stunned... I'm overwhelmed... Dayum... Who could have thought that only one book could have this effect in me?
How can people be so cruel just because things are not the "normal"?
Amazing plot, super engaging and so freaking intense. This book is surrounded by darkness, drama, past demons as well as true love, friendship, family bonds.
How can the person who's supposed to love you unconditionally ditch you just because you're not what he expects you to be? Why can't gay people have a normal life and acceptance?
Well, this book will give you an insight into how they live through this and fight to their happiness.
Oh, Jen... This book is perfect and I'm so in love right now. I'm stunned, that's for sure, but so happy as well.
What's next?

Robby had secrets he couldn’t share with anyone, horrible shameful secrets. One thing that isn’t secret is the way he feels about Matt, his coworker.

I loved Robby and to a lesser extent Matt. Robby was everything I like in a hero. Strong (in spite of his past), caring (even though he mostly had to learn that on his own), hopeful (there again, never really given a reason to hope), and loving (he loved with his whole body and mind).

Matt had issues of his own. I got that he needed to put his sons needs over the man he was falling in love with but it still felt like he let Robby down when he needed him the most.

I mostly read M/M so I haven’t read the other books in the series but Kane and Brick were funny and sweet and gave Robby the family he so desperately needed. Supporting him in every way, no judgement, basically what everyone wants from a good friend turned family.

This book had it all. Angst, slow burn, friends to lovers, chosen family, and lots of love. I enjoyed it.

This was darker than I thought it would be, but I enjoyed the story and it had sweet and funny parts to balance it out. Robby has been through more than any person should have to, but he pulled himself out and is now pretty happy and successful. Matt is struggling to keep afloat, paying for his son's necessities and helping his mom with her bills. They had a cute relationship and I liked that they both helped each other be stronger and fulfilled. My favorite aspect of the story was the family aspect, the idea that even if your birth family sucks, you can make a family with people who love you as you are. I haven't read the first two books in the series, but I loved Kane and Brick and their protectiveness over Robby. I will definitely be checking out their books as soon as I can!

In the first two books of this series, we see Robby and how sweet he is with his crush on Matt. Unfortunately that crush is one sided, as Matt is pretty much oblivious to that crush. Robby came from nothing and has worked hard to get where he is, even though the loneliness is crushing sometimes. Matt lives for his son, a son that was conceived after one time and one time only. Matt has no interest in being in a relationship, no matter how hard he tried to make some kind of connection work with his ex, there just wasn't one. Now, for the first time ever Matt has feelings of desire for someone, not just someone, Robby! Both are in uncharted waters with this attraction, Robby has never been in a relationship and Matt has never had these feelings. Can the two figure out how to make something work out of this or are they too broken?

Robby finally gets his story told and it was amazing! I really liked everything about this story. From the drama, to the steamy naughty bits, and everything in between kept me quite entertained. I loved that we got to see the other two couples from the previous books and somewhat got to see what they are up to. Matt and Robby get 4 stars from me!

From the first book in this series, I was itching to get to Robby's book. I couldn't wait to read this, and now I wish I had.

I don't know if I wasn't in the right space to read this, but this was not what I'd hoped it would be. The story starts with the Robby I grew to adore from books one and two, and he turned into someone I couldn't recognize. Not that his character changes so much that he was unrecodnizable, but his progression felt chunky and rushed. The whole book was messy and felt off. I also felt like his relationship with Matt was rushed in a way that didn't feel authentic. I just could not get into the whole thing. Parts were nice but also so cliché, making it harder to like. Add in a couple side characters that were really unlikable and just horrid, this was another no for me.

This is a sweet , sad and hot , MM romance with a satisfying HEA.

It a story with a lot of subplots - lots is happening to our heroes Robby and Matt; as both of them have a lot of baggage due to a life full of challenges.

Be aware, deals with topics that will be uncomfortable for some - addiction , abuse - self- harm.

I did not know that this book is part of a series . But don't feel it affected in me, liking of the story.

We are really loving this series and characters. We loved Robby and Matt's story as there path was not and easy road due to Matt exploring his sexuality and Robby's past and a whole lot of baby mama drama."We loved it all !"

I loved Robby already from the other stories already but, I loved him even more this time around he was such a love-able soul . Our heart broke for what he had to endure to get through his teens just to survive and the hard choices he had to make but, he rose up from the ashes and made something of himself and created a family full of misfits.I loved how Robby did not let his new life be tainted by the old one and how he remained sweet and kind and not bitter and someone who wallowed in self pity. Robby was my favorite character this round but, I still have a soft spot for Brick .lol

We enjoyed getting to know Matt while he was figuring himself out and how he never put a label on his sexuality just went with the flow and what felt good a right for him.

We loved of course seeing our favorite characters again and seeing them celebrating their new lives with each other and their good fortunes. We love you guys!

Overall the story kept us engrossed and turning the pages. This was one heart felt dark tale but, through Robby and his darkest times and dark days he survived and now he is making a difference to those in need. With your new life and your support and knowledge and your good graces you are making this happen hoping to create a better world. The story also just had enough suspense to spice things up and we loved it and we hope there is more to come in this series.

Recommend read to all and its series!

4 stars!! I knew Robby was a gem!!

This is Robby’s story, book three in “Cooper Construction” series, and can be read as a stand alone. But once you know the construction crew you are gonna want to read about them all.

So this is a m/m romance and that is usually not my wheelhouse seeing as I can’t relate. But this didn’t feel like that. This felt like a beautiful friendship that turned into more. This felt like a person finding themselves and finding the person who completes them. It was beautiful.

Robby is like the little brother to all the guys. I love how Brick and Kane have always been super protective of him since the very beginning. And can I say that I even thought there was no way in hell he had a shot with Matt. I also didn’t realize everything that Robby had went through. My heart broke for him.

The author did a great job of developing this relationship and creating these beautiful characters. Maybe it felt like it dragged a little bit but I feel like after the halfway mark I was hooked and couldn’t put it down.

I don't know who I felt for more with this book. Matt was deeply confused about his own sexuality and painfully shy to the point where he could barely talk to people. Robby didn't have Matt's hangups about himself, but events in his past had left a dark stain on him that he hadn't quite dealt with.

They were a sometimes awkward, always sweet couple who had baggage, man. Baggage.

But they dealt with that baggage. Not always well the first time, but they dealt with it. As it turns out, having a solid foundation to lean on when things get bad makes all the difference in the world.

Matt doesn't really have anyone when we first meet him. He's trying his hardest to be a good dad and a friend to the one person who stood beside him when he was younger, but his baby mama doesn't make it easy. His mother isn't the greatest resource either, but I want to think that's more because she doesn't know what Matt's dealing with because MATT doesn't know how to categorize himself than anything.

Robby, on the other hand, has Brick and Kane and their families at his back. Brick and Kane are quick to jump to his defense when they see he needs it and that gives Robby confidence. Considering all he went through when he was younger, confident Robby is a GOOD THING. But, like I said, events left shadows on his heart and it takes a lot to get the poor guy to open up.

I kinda love this found family at Cooper Construction. They're big, tough, and they love whole-heartedly. Both with their friends and their significant others. *thumbs up*

You know when there are stories that just pull at your heart and make you want to change the world? This is one of them. I didn't want this to end. I loved all the characters in it. Robby, Matt, Brick, Kane and the amazingly open wives. To learn that you do what you can to survive and be able to move on from it without damaging your soul comes at a high cost. I want to know more about Kane and Brick so I hope there are more stories to come. Learn to love yourself and move forward in life. Loved this.

•••••••••

REVIEW: ROBBY is the third instalment in Jen Davis’ contemporary, adult COOPER CONSTRUCTION erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women who work for Cooper Construction. This is foreman’s assistant Robby Jordan, and construction worker /architect student / single father Matt York’s story line. ROBBY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: ROBBY contains scenes of M/M sexual situations as well as reference to abuse, drugs, alcohol and self-harm that may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Robby and Matt) ROBBY follows the building relationship between co-workers foreman’s assistant Robby Jordan, and construction worker /architect student / single father Matt York. Robby Jordan has been attracted to his co-worker for close to a year but single father Matt York is oblivious to Robby’s attraction, as well as his own tempered sexuality. Having always considered himself asexual, but desperate to prove otherwise, Matt’s one and only sexual experience resulted in his now one year old son. Lonely and needing a friend, Matt accepts Robby’s offer for online gaming, an offer that brings the two co-workers closer together. What ensues is the building relationship, romance and love between Matt and Robby, and the potential fall-out as Robby’s past conflicts with potential custody arrangements between Matt and the mother of his child.

Robby’s past is mired in abuse and rejection; alcohol and drugs but our hero has struggled to move on with his life including helping those who are unable or unwilling to help themselves. Matt battles his direction in life including his attraction to a man when he, himself, had never considered himself bisexual or gay. Using their work relationship as a conduit towards friendship and love, Robby begins a slow seduction of the man he has lusted after for over a year.

The relationship between Robby and Matt is one of immediate attraction but Matt struggles with who he is, and what he wants. Robby’s past is dangerous and dark, but a past that continues to haunt him both day and night. The $ex sense are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Brick and Olivia , Kane and Amanda; Matt’s friend and mother of his child Patty, and their son Jimmy, as well as a number of gay, lesbian, bi and transgendered youth who struggle for a place to live, and feel protected from life. The requisite evil has many faces.

ROBBY is a story of family, friendship, rejection and love; of finding where you belong no matter the path or choices that lie ahead. The premise is heart breaking, emotional and engaging; the romance is sensitive and provocative; the characters are broken, wounded but energetic and spirited.

Robby has had a hopeless crush on Matt for so long. I say hopeless because Matt is oblivious. He really only focuses on a few things - fixing the problems he has with his ex, and raising his son, oh, and making enough money to raise said son. So when his crew at Cooper Construction starts drawing him into their fold, he's a bit standoffish at first. But he soon comes to feel a part of their family, AND starts up something with Robby, the sweetest coworker a man could ask for.

Robby is a delight! I loved it for quite a few reasons, but mostly because of Robby himself. He's absolutely amazing - sweet, caring and compassionate, and strong and loving. He has a heartbreaking past, and it easily could have made him into a less amazing character, but instead, it served to make him one of the best heroes I've read in quite a long time. Honestly, I felt he might have been a little too good for Matt, who was a bit of a downer for most of Robby. Not that I didn't understand where his narrow focus came from, because of course raising his kid should always have been his #1 priority, but sometimes I felt he put Robby far, far down on that same list, and Robby did not deserve it. Still, Robby loves him, so he gets a big pass from me. The rest of this awesome story is just the way I love my romance (MM or otherwise) - sexy, emotionally substantial, and featuring a wonderful primary and secondary cast. I will definitely be checking out the previous two stories in this series now.

This book is part of a series and is book three of the Coopers Construction series but you can read as standalone with a few other book spoilers.

Robby is one of those love stories that is more than just a normal romance story. This story is about two people who are fighting for what they want whilst the past threatens to prevent it from happening. The story is about bravery, putting the past behind you and embracing the future.

The story is about two men that have a difficult past. When they find each other they are both at different stages of discovering themselves. There are some things they can work on together but other issues that will take a lot of work.

Robby has had a difficult childhood and even though he’s still young he has issues with addiction and his past has left him with both emotional and physical scars. Robby has had a crush on his co-worker Matt.

Matt’s life has been complicated leaving him with a child that means the world to him and a best friend that now hates him. He gave up everything to provide for his child and the women that gave birth to him. They have a complex relationship but Matt wants to be the best father possible and to provide for his son.

When Robby and Matt’s life start to cross things become even more difficult. It’s difficult enough for both men to deal with each other’s past but their friends and family also have their own opinions.

I love the chosen family relationship and the relationship between Robby, Brick & Kane. They might feel like those that wouldn’t connect due to each of their backgrounds but they are greatly protective of each other and honest with their advice giving.

Of note: I adored the chosen-family relationship or Robby, Brick, and Kane. They may seem an unlikely trio, coming from such different backgrounds, but they are fiercely protective of one another… and candid with their advice-giving. What a joy it was to read about such healthy relationships between a group of men from diverse backgrounds.

I read the first two books in the Cooper Construction series (Brick and Kane) some months ago and have been keeping an eye out for book number three. We met sweet Robby in those first two books and learnt about his crush on fellow construction worker Matt. I wasn't sure how their story, if it indeed would be their story, would play out. Obviously, when I saw the book available on NetGalley, I jumped at the chance to read it and find out.
In the first two books, Robby comes across as a young lad, quite naive, but with a heart of gold. It soon becomes clear that while that might be the face that he displays to the world, there is far more lurking beneath.
I really enjoyed this story, I liked Robby when we first met him, but as his character developed in this story, he was even more likeable. Matt has not had it easy either and while it's not nearly so dark as Robby's past, it still left plenty for him to deal with. I also really liked the way that this book dealt not only with a homosexual relationship and one of part of the couples' first foray into that but also with someone who had really found themselves sexually attracted to someone in the past. (In this age where we try and give everything labels, then I believe that Matt would be considered Demisexual) it added an interesting dimension to the storyline.
Overall this is really quite a sweet story and one that I really enjoyed.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Amount of sex 3 / 5
How explicit is the sex scenes 3 / 5
Story 4.5 / 5
Overall: 4.5 / 5

Robby is the third book in the Cooper construction series written by author Jen Davis. This was the first story that I have read in the series, and I had no difficulties in following along. Each book in the series focuses on a different couple and can be read as a standalone romance. The characters from the previous novels do appear within the story, but not in a confusing way.

In this story, Robby is the assistant to the foreman at Cooper construction. He’s been through a lot and works very hard. His family kicked him out when he was sixteen years old, and he has had to fend for himself since. Matt works with Robby at the construction company, and he’s very focused on earning money for his family. He’s never really felt desire before, so when he feels something for Robby, he doesn’t know how to handle it.

Robby was a really refreshing story. I thought the progression of Robby and Matt’s relationship was genuine, and I was quickly drawn in. The writing was flawless, and I look forward to reading more in the series! A definite add to your TBR list.

I don't usually enjoy MM stories. Not that I have anything against it but I like to put myself in the heroine's role. I took this book anyway because I enjoyed Kane and Brick so much. I knew of Robby and Matt and admit I was curious how their story would play out.

Davis does a really good job of making both men very relatable. They've both got issues. Mountains of issues. Matt's not even sure he's gay. Robby is deeply ashamed of what life has forced him to do. How can they find the love they deserve?

Robby's history is heart-wrenching. I really enjoyed watching him blossom into a new man. He made a lot of positive changes but the best comes out in him when he finds the Q-Center and learns he doesn't have to always please everyone. Life isn't all smiles and he doesn't have to pretend it is. He's also able to take his life experiences and use them to help others get out of their bad situations.

Matt needs to grow too and we watch him do so in this book. He's got to deal with his former best friend/son's mother, he needs to finish his degree and earn more money.

This story was full of suspense but more so a study in overcoming and creating the future you want. It was a good read.

Robby is the third book in the Cooper Construction series. It can be read as a stand-alone, which I did.
Robby is the foreman assistant in the contruction company with a troubled past and an obvious crush on his co-worker Matt. Matt is a shy, confused single parent with a lot of baggage.

One of the things I liked about the book was the plot (though a little messy at some points). I liked how the story unfolded and how the relationship between Robby and Matt was developed. I enjoyed the bond between Robby, Brick and Kane, you don't see friendships like that everyday.
The idea of Robby and Matt founding one another and, even though everything they went through, getting to love each other was really exiting. The thing is, I'm not sure I believed it.

Unfortunately the book is riddled with clichés and a few mistakes. No one is saying 'stop trying to top from the bottom' during sex, It's not believable. And the word 'lover' it's featured an unhealthy amount of times.

It was a good idea that didn't quite delivered

Robby is a superb boss/employee romance. This is my first read by Jen Davis, despite it being the third book in her Cooper Construction series.

Obviously it revolves around a construction crew. Through the use of multiple pov, the reader learns everything about these messy and complicated men.

Robbie's a nerd at first glance, but he's hiding so much pain and hurt from the world. Robbie's long crushed on his introverted co-worker, Matt.

This story is that of an ex-addict who's struggling. It's the story of a single dad who's fighting for custody, just trying to get enough money to help his mother and son.

Robbie and Matt are are complex and loveable men, who desperately need one another. Both men are full of tough life experiences, and together they can help each other heal. Adding to the fun is the wonderful addition of a great friends unit who include them and support them everyday.

Jen Davis' writing is great, with multi-layered characters, fluid writing, realistic dialogue, and a fantastic storyline. After enjoying the emotional journey in Robby tremendously, I hope to get a chance to read the previous books in the series.

This was a good MM romance. I haven’t read a ton of this Thorpe but I will say I liked this one. It is perfect for those that might not be sure how they feel about trying something new. Matt and Robby were great. I like that Robby was so strong and the fact that he turned his life around for the better.

Matt was hard to get a read on. He didn’t really know him self and in this story we saw him trying to to figure out what he wanted. I really wish we saw more of him with his son. He was a big part of his reason for working so hard but we didn’t see him much or Matt’s Mom. It seemed like filler to me at times.

The overall plot was good. A crazy type ex, a man who doesn’t know who he really is, and a super sweet romance. I read the first book by this author and I loved seeing all the characters again. I will say I struggled with the POV. At times it was more like I was being told instead of really seeing the things that were happening but I still enjoyed the story. 4 stars #2OCCJD

4 1/2 Stars!

Robby’s parents kicked him out when he was 16, so Robby had to do unimaginable things in order to survive living on the streets. But it’s been 5 years since he picked himself out of the gutter and changed his life around. Robby has worked with Matt for over a year and even though he knows nothing about Matt, he can’t stop thinking about him. Matt doesn’t know what he wants out of life ... the only thing he knows is that he loves his son and won’t let him down.

From the beginning of this series, we hear about Robby and his crush on Matt. I couldn’t wait to hear Robby’s story and I wasn’t disappointed! Robby is just as sweet as I knew he would be. And even though Matt is clueless about his own sexual orientation, I loved how he just couldn’t resist Robby and trusted him completely. A great addition to this series.

I really enjoyed this book. Though it's the third in a series, I read it as a stand alone and it reads well without having read the previous two books. Jen Davis has chosen to tell this M/M Romance in the 'He said- he said' style (very common lately) alternating between Robby and Matt. Both men have everything to give but both also have to overcome their own unique baggage they bring to the table. I really found the characters' backstories relatable and completely engrossing. Many (gay men in particular) will totally identify (on some level) with Matt and Robby's pasts and how it affects their future. Brick, Kyle and Patty are also really engaging characters. Robby is more about romance and building a true connection and lasting relationship than it is about sex. There are some steamy moments too.

I didn't totally love this book but maybe it is because I did not read the first two in the series. Rob is a construction worker who has a dark past, sadly, that he is trying to put behind him. He was on the streets at a young age and submitted to be owned, so to speak, as a teen by an much older man who abused him in all ways while also providing for him. Robby is still trying to get past all that he is lived through. Matt works at the same place and also has a past he is trying to move on from. HE has an ex-girlfriend, a 1 year old son and a life he is not so sure about as he is trying to figure out what he wants. Rob and Matt become friend and then become more. They become really close but do not share all of their secrets which causes problems for both of them in their new and fragile relationship. This is good story full of sadness angst and pain and how two men are trying to overcome all the problems they have faced while building a relationship together.

Readers who have followed the Cooper Construction series from the beginning, have met the sweet and endearing Robby and known about his infatuation with his co-worker Matt. Unfortunately for Robby, Matt has remained oblivious. But as a single Dad, Matt has more important things on his mind than romance; earning a living, raising his son and knowing that relationships are just too hard are just a few. But maybe with the right incentive, Matt will learn that taking a chance can have unexpected and rewarding results.

It was lovely to see a M/M story included in this series and the telling was mindful, respectful and gratifying for all involved. I thoroughly enjoyed these characters and was captivated by their fragile souls and tentative move from friends to lovers. A wonderful addition to the series and a winner for me!
