Rate this book
It’s impossible to know when you've found the one from a photo, right? Wrong. In a matter of thirty seconds, all my years knowing I’d die alone evaporate. Work is my life. My oil rigs are my girlfriends, my wives, and they take all of my time. The woman I see looking back at me on my phone screen is also about to become my step-sister. Turns out, she has nearly as much interest in a relationship as I did before her ice blue eyes melted my frozen heart. The most challenging job of my life is to convince her we were made for each other. There’s a storm brewing from the past. Old losses turn to new grudges and they threaten to ruin everything. She’s too good for me. Too smart. Too everything. But, she’s mine, and I’ll breathe my dying breath making sure we get our shot. When you find the one, you just know. Author’s Take a hard-living oil field alpha, a Mensa smart over-achiever a heap of blasting powder, a few old grudges from the past and watch things ignite. These two are the least likely to succeed together but in every way that counts are perfect. As always, this novella is safe, no cheating, steamy like scalding coffee and a happy ending that leaves you with a sigh.

Since I was a little girl, I’ve made up stories. I would lay in my bed at night and before I knew what a trope was, I would make up these trope filled stories. Boy sees girl, boys falls for girl, boy saves girl….happily ever after. As I got older, the stories turned steamier and more intricate, but the basics never changed.

Now, my books are still full of romance but the naughty bits are naughtier, my hero’s are obsessed alpha types and my heroines are quirky, real women who come in all shapes and sizes.

So, sit back, banish the real world and get lost in some over the top romance with a heaping helping of hot. xoxoxo

Didn't like it. I was bored. Heroine not a virgin not sure about hero. I didn't like that heroine lost her virginity to an asshole. I also didn't like that H and h were obsessed with their career.

Van and Issi❤️

Well I have to say that this is the first 5 stars I’ve given in quite a while. Dani hit it out of the park with this one in my opinion. It has romance, suspense and steam!

HERO Van was a workaholic who never had time for anything- especially women and relationships. He was married to the job. I loved that when he saw Issi, he didn’t even try to play games with himself, he knew there was something there. He fought for her and made her a priority in his life. That was major since his previous philosophy was “work comes first”

HEROINE Issi was very likable. She was extremely smart and backwards. A lifetime of being the adult between her and her mother had led her to growing up fast. She too had the “work comes first” mentality and she worked really hard for her success. I was so happy she listened to her heart and didn’t constantly push Van away. She heard him out and gave him chances to explain things. She showed plenty of maturity.

OW/OMDRAMA None

STEAM the steam wasn’t immediate but when they finally was intimate, watch out because they we passionate and liked it rough. She was his “good girl”

SEPARATION No major separations. Part of the story is then commuting back and forth to be together. They are apart a day here and there

VIOLENCE No violence

SAFETY Safe- neither are with others after meeting

ENDING there are 2 epilogues a few months and then 3 years later. I would have liked some more details about their life and children (names etc) however, I thought it was a great wrap up

OTT with born again virgins.

On one hand it was kind of sweet and very safe. The dog was cute. There was a HEA even with her Mom.

On the other hand it was way too much lust instead of love. Hero would tell her he loved her from the first moment, but it was all lust. And her Mom going from "lovely-dovely" to "stay away from men" in a matter of hours. The "drama" that I could see from a mile away.

The page count was on the shorter sides. And as another review mentioned the name "daenerys targaryen" was badly misspelled. That's just lazy, because one google search (as I did) would have fixed this up. And at the end Heroine calls herself "conservative" but liking it rough in the bedroom. Well, for one the two don't exclude each other. And second, she's the least "conservative" Heroine that I've read about.

I enjoyed reading it but that's about it. No lasting impressions. No cheering for the characters.

I am loving these books where the H knows exactly what he wants the minute he sees the h and doesn't stop until he gets it. This story is proof that if you want something bad enough, you will make it happen. Another safe read.

Well where do I start this is by far one of Dani’s best books for me and o have read most of them. It’s steamy, sweet and has the right amount of suspense to keep you reading.

Isi has moved back to her home town after living in NY, she’s got the job of her dreams and a house she’s ready to call home but all that changes when her mother announces her wedding and she meets her soon to be step brother. She can’t help being attracted to him on sight and fights her feelings from the get go as she never wanted to fall in love or get married, she’s given up on sec after the disaster of her first time. But as her and Van get closer she loses the facade she’s always lived behind. Could the girl who had nothing and came from the wrong side of the tracks really have a HEA?

Van knew the second he looked at the picture of his soon to be step sister that his heart was in trouble, just one look and he’s all in. But there are forces against them and somebody wants to destroy them before they start. No way is bam letting anyone take his future away he will fight for Issi with all he has to convince her they belong.

Easy quick read highly recommended, safe and plenty of heat.

To be honest, the cover of The One misled me a bit. I've expected something a little bit different than the usual Dani Wyatt's story, with it being fancier and all pretty up.
I got the regular one, though...
Not that there's anything wrong with that, but right now, I am just in some kind of rut when it comes to her books, so it was hugely disappointing.

Quick read and I enjoyed reading it. The characters are both independent strong business people. Neither believing they would find someone who would put up with their drive to work, esp. since their lives consist of constant working. Neither is looking for love or family.
Van owns his own business. Oil drilling and rigs. He also, of course, owns several himself. His father calls to tell Van he's getting married again, #5 and expects him to be there tomorrow to meet Gayl, the bride to be and Issi, her daughter. He also sends a picture of them. He stares at the picture of the girl with white blonde hair arranged over her shoulder. He starts to get a tingling feeling in his back and he knows she's The One.
Issi can't believe her mother is getting married again. She's been married 5 times and now she wants to do it again. It's only been her and her mother since the beginning, except when she goes on the hunt for the next husband.
She looks down at the picture of the man on her phone. He's older than her. He has a rugged look, but then he works on oil drilling rigs. She keeps looking and she just can't stop looking at the picture.
They are to meet for dinner at the hotel tonight and tomorrow is the wedding with only Van and herself...
But not everything goes to plan...

Good

Van and Issi are both loner workaholics who are brought together by their parents wedding. Both are instantly attracted to one another. While Van is all in Issi has always been against love due to her mother’s past with a revolving door of men. Van is determined to make her his and show her how perfect they are for each other he just has to break down all her walls and earn her trust which may be impossible with her mother warning her against him. Van was a good H and was head over heels for Issi. Even while his business was in danger of collapsing all he could think about was her. I loved his devotion to her and to prove to her he wasn’t like his father.
Safety and Spoilers
Completely safe. H has been celibate for years and h has only been intimate once. No om drama and mild ow drama. No abuse.

This is the kind of romance between people who have renounced ever finding love in their lives as they think it's not for them. So when they do find it, it's even more life-changing.

The author has a knack with words to make you believe in their characters and feelings. It’s a well-rounded short story with equal amounts of romance and steamy times. I enjoyed it thoroughly because it's exciting, pretty and convincing.

What's hotter than a mature oil rig worker? A man in love, and this man is both. He instantly, powerfully falls in love with the accomplished young beauty. From then on, his heart changes and so does his life as he plans to put her first in it. I really loved how he fights heaven and hell to keep her and prove to her he is reliable and true.

The plot revolves around other flawed or vindictive characters who throw hurdles in their path, but they keep falling in love and building their future together no matter what. I also loved the dog! A really cute and feel-good romance with some spice too.

This was my favorite Dani Wyatt book. I loved these two, and this cover. Van owns and runs quite a few oil rigs and Issi graduated a few years early and is very successful as well. These two meet when their parents decide to get married after a hot second of knowing each other. He sees her picture and instantly knows, but once he meets her, it’s a done deal, she’s the one. They deal with a few situations along the way, but are able to overcome them together.

This was a great storyline. Safe read with very little drama, well it was non-existent drama. Older man, younger woman. Same great witty Dani Wyatt humor. Once these two get their hands on each other, they can’t get enough of each other...hot af. Ton of baby batter...like a ton. Epilogues, plural and an hea.

I can never go wrong with a Dani Wyatt story. This story introduces us to an oil rig owner/worker who focuses his whole life on his work until he meets "The One" his soon to be stepsister. She's also a huge workaholic, who practically raised herself along with her mother. These two don't seem like they should be a match, but they are perfect for each other. Add in the age gap, the fact that someone is trying to ruin his business and you have one explosive story. A perfect MFD to read any day of the week.

I super enjoyed reading this book! Two workaholic, independent and successful individuals who were about to be step-siblings became each other's, "The One", despite their age difference, their family's entanglements and heartbreaks, and a long distance relationship. I loved Van's character! Such a big heart and their chemistry was off the charts, super hot! This book had a bit of angst in terms of doubting someone's faithfulness but there was no OM nor OW in the picture. What prevailed in the end was their intense love for each other. Loved it!

I have received an advance copy of this book and this is a fair and honest review and recommendation voluntarily shared.

Both Van and Issi are workaholics and solely focused on their careers. It could be because they see their parents failures in relationships that they never want to be vulnerable to that. However when Van sees Issi's picture as the new step-sister to his fathers fiancee, he is hooked. He knows she is going to be his one and he will move mountains to make it happen. What he did not expect was their parents to be the one creating a hurdle.

I liked the idea of this one but the chemistry was not there for me. Issi was a bit flat, I liked Van a lot and the story did have a couple surprises. Good read.

I received an ARC of this book, and Dani Wyatt is one of my go-to authors for a solid Love at first sight story that takes insta-lust and gives the reader a reason to believe in it. Her characters are people the reader can feel invested in as individuals, which is critical for my enjoyment. I also love how here we see two people who are driven to succeed, have major differences to overcome, and both have lived lives before meeting the other person. As usual, Wyatt’s hero isn’t a manwh*re, and has a personality that shows respect and decency to all women, not just the heroine. Another critical piece for my ability to enjoy. Bottom line, trust Wyatt, and The One, to deliver a safe, sensual read.

Late with this

I’m late reading this one. I loved it! Well, except for Van’s
dad, what a jerk! That part of the story almost did me in. It was hard work for Van and Issi, but a great HEA.

I was done when they ran into one of Issi's "friends" that Van had a brief encounter with. I don't care that it was many, many years ago. Nope. Don't want that in my romance books.

WOW is all I can say about this book. Van feels the tug of his heart to Issi when he first sees a photo of her. His feelings for her were obvious (by the way his pants filled out) even before he met her in person. He had never felt anything for a woman but he couldn't get her out of his mind.

They were both finding out that their work was not the boyfriend/girlfriend in their life. Even in the turmoil going on in Van's work he still found time for Issi and she in turn was learning to work did not mean she had to be in any specific place but could take her computer with her anywhere she went. But then her job is threatened due to the same issue Van is having.

When it turns out that Van's problems are coming from a years back bratty drama of a spoiled little rich girl Issi went to high school with and Van had turned her down several years before that situation is quickly resolved and they can continue on toward their HEA.

Dani Wyatt has a way of putting action into words when it comes to a man/woman interaction and when it gets physical, well let's just say she is always spot on with descriptions. I love her books and you will fall in love with Van and Issi in this one.

Dani Wyatt is the queen of insta-love, with sexy alphas and strong women. Her books are always hot as hell and grab you from the very beginning. Make sure you have some time because you will finish this book in one sitting.
Van is a workaholic, oil rigging is his life. No time for anything, but work and he is fine with that. He is called to go to yet another one of his fathers weddings. Reluctantly he makes the trip, only to meet The One. Problem is she is going to be his new step sister.
Issi is also a workaholic, working hard to go from her hand me down childhood and make something of herself. Love was never something she wished for, her mother did not set a very good example growing up. Now she is on her way to another one of her mothers weddings and sees her future step brother, all her previous thoughts on love vanish.
Sometimes fate has a way of working and two people who are meant to be will find a way. Fall in love with The One.

This book had all the trademark things that make Dani Wyatt an auto-buy for me: alpha heroes who go from 0 to 200 from the first glimpse of the heroine, a sweet, but strong heroine, scorching chemistry and a guaranteed HEA. The heroine, Issi, stood out to me as a new evolved version of the heroines that I have come to expect. All of Dani Wyatt's heroines are independent and strong to a certain extent, but Issi seemed like her own person and driven. She was carving a successful like for herself, even if she still harbored the vulnerability and insecurity from her childhood.

What made this book stand out for me was the story and conflict surrounding our two main characters. It was fleshed out, which made the reading even more satisfying than it normally is.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was a lot of story packed into the length and will definitely be on my re-read list. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

I loved this book omg holy hotness alert i tell ya. Issi is a workaholic as is van but their parents have sprung a surprise wedding on them both. They are shown a photo of the other and time stills for them both theres an instant attraction. Something happens (no spoilers) and it frees them both to be able to pursue each other. Well i say pursue van sort of took control and demanded issi’s attention. He goes out of his way to become encompassed in issi’s world. Next follows a whole load of hotness steam comes off your kindle phew ;p. Their is a misunderstanding that nearly tears the two apart but van wont let that happen easily. He fights for her and eventually they get a happy ever after as told in the two amazing epilogues. The side characters help pull the story together and play large parts of the story at times. My favourite is george the dog who is anintegral part of vans life who falls for issi as much as van. You need to get this book its the one lol.

This book was beautiful it really captured my every being.

when Van gets wrangled into coming home for yet another of his dad's wedding but what really gets him coming is the photo his dad sends him off his soon to be Step Sister Issi... she is The One his heart is gone the minute he sees her and when they meet in person it only makes his connection to her deeper.

When Issi sees the photo of the workaholic aka her soon to be Step Brother her heart skips a beat he is all sorts of raw manliness she knows she shouldn't want him but she does. And after he saves her and helps her through an asthma attack shes a goner.

But when Van's dad does the unthinkable and cheats will this new found closeness go? or will
some other things are set in motion and their pasts try to get in there future.

I really enjoyed this book and Van and Issi Love is so pure and perfect the author has done an amazing job with this book.

Loved the cover, gave me high hopes that this would be a good book, but it was disappointing in the end. The story had potential, but was really pushed to be over-the-top in all the wrong ways. Starting early with having orgasms from seeing a picture (just a normal snap, not anything provocative), and both MCs doing it too in separate instances. There were a lot of other things that were over the top, just too many things to list. The sex scenes were a little too much too. There also were a lot of things that editing should have caught, that just didn't make sense that pulled me out of the story as well. I feel like I wasted my time reading this, & would never want to re-read this either. Not sure I'd want to even attempt anything else by this author either. I don't recommend this book.

Intense and Passionate!

The cover alone grabbed my attention. The characters are easy to fall in love with. Van is an overly protective alpha oil rig worker. Issi is a super intelligent career-oriented woman. Both are married to their jobs and have no intent on marriage or children. The One is an instant connection, flaming chemistry and forever love that will melt the pages. Van and Issi have their obstacles but nothing will take what they have found away. This book is more than just a man sees woman, falls In love and they live happily ever after. The One has its moments that will having you turning the pages so fast just to find out who is determined to end them before they begin. Pick up the beautiful book and enjoy!
