“It's been waiting thirty years.
Fifteen-year-old Dylan never thought he'd spend his summer break trying to survive. When new girl Emma uncovers a mysterious lot in a quiet town, a long hidden, horrifying secret will be unleashed, and lives will be changed forever.”
That’s all the book description says, but that was more than I needed after I saw that it was by Fredric Shernoff.
Teenage Dylan and new girl in town Emma meet at a CVS and start up a flirtation. They go on an adventurous first date to explore an old invisible pharmacy that can only be accessed during a full moon.
Jim and Clyde are lifelong friends and partners of a realty and property management company interested in purchasing a strip mall. They go to check it out, and discover an alley where one of the stores should be, but there’s nothing in the records indicating what was there or what happened to the property.
Both pairs manage to access the long emptied store and open the door to 1989. Have they discovered a time machine? How do they get back home when the only door opens to the same moment in 1989 over and over again?
I love Fredric Shernoff, his books are my favorite guilty pleasure. If you enjoyed the Atlantic Island Trilogy and The Traveler, you’ll love this, too. If you haven’t read him yet, add them to your TBR for some fun summer reading!
