•Includes four maps and guided city walks
Following on from the success of An Opinionated Guide to East London, Hoxton Mini Press are developing a series of 'opinionated guides' to aspects of London, each offering concise, highly-curated, insider selections alongside stunning, original photography. Two expert writers, Sujata Burman and Rosa Bertoli of Wallpaper Magazine, have joined forces with architectural photographer Taran Wilkhu to create an unashamedly confident guide to the must-see buildings in London, spanning all the architectural from Art Deco to postmodern, brutalist to futuristic. Over 50 buildings are included alongside four maps with guided city walks. Why buy a guidebook when all information is online? Because people want opinion to cut through the clutter.
A delightful little volume from the good people at Hoxton Mini Press. Nicely bound, beautiful photography, thought-through opinions (as advertised in the title) - and useful maps ... and some interesting walking routes.
Great pen portraits of mostly very well know London buildings with references for further research (of which there was lots during the reading). It's the further research that repays the investment in the book but it does also flag up a few little-known gems that will get you out further afield for a walk when time allows. If money is no object, there are suggestions for four days' of walking (North, South, East and West respectively) that will take you past the highlighted buildings while filling your stomach and emptying your wallet. If money is an object, plan ahead, book visits to the buildings and take a flask and sandwich. This is perfect for old London hands and new arrivals alike as a starting point to appreciating the architectural riches of the capital with no, or little, prior knowledge.
A beautifully printed travel sized book witch takes a look at the best of Londons new and old architecture. Without ever getting to technical for readers not to familiar with architecture like myself. The book gives a brief insight in the the look and history of each building with a short precisely written paragraph paired with a photo from London based photographer Taran Wilkhu. Highly recommend for anyone looking to find unique and interesting architecture hidden gems in the capital! (When you can go visit them after this is over)

A lovely little guide to beautiful and unique buildings in London, super accessible to people unfamiliar with both the city and the subject of architecture. It’s definitely a whistle-stop tour, and I wish more images and details were available on some entries, but it’s a fantastically diverse and fascinating selection that fulfils my inner architecture nerd.
A lovely compendium of architecture in London — insightful short write-ups, photographs that capture stunning angles of the buildings, and provides useful information on the nearest tube station, address, architect, access (whether paid entry or otherwise) and visitor info websites. Also includes suggested walking tours!
A brief and enjoyable tour of some of London's most-notable buildings. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the buildings were split into architectural movements, and are listed on a map in the covers' leaves.
