Download a FREE sneak peek of Heather Webber's Midnight at the Blackbird Café—a captivating blend of magical realism, heartwarming romance, and small-town Southern charm!

Nestled in the mountain shadows of Alabama lies the little town of Wicklow. It is here that Anna Kate has returned to bury her beloved Granny Zee, owner of the Blackbird Café.

It was supposed to be a quick trip to close the café and settle her grandmother’s estate, but despite her best intentions to avoid forming ties or even getting to know her father’s side of the family, Anna Kate finds herself inexplicably drawn to the quirky Southern town her mother ran away from so many years ago, and the mysterious blackbird pie everybody can’t stop talking about.

As the truth about her past slowly becomes clear, Anna Kate will need to decide if this lone blackbird will finally be able to take her broken wings and fly.

This is a pretty typical southern ‘chick lit’ book. There isn’t anything super special about it per se. But I really enjoyed it. I loved the characters and I loved the theme of forgiveness. It won’t win any Pulitzers or be seems great literature, but some books are just lovely for the sake of being lovely..and that’s ok. I’ll definitely pick up more of her books. And it was quite clean. I don’t remember really anything too objectionable. Maybe a mild swear word or two. And one character had gotten pregnant by her boyfriend, but it’s only discussed. It was refreshing

📚✨ Just finished Midnight at the Blackbird Café by Heather Webber, and y’all… what a delightful surprise this book turned out to be!

I’ll be honest — halfway through, I was thinking “eh, maybe 3 stars.” It was cute but a little slow. But somewhere in that second half, this story bloomed like a Southern spring morning 🌸 and turned into a full 5-star read! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

At first, it seems like a light story about some blackbirds and pie (and yes, there’s plenty of pie 🥧), but it’s really a heartfelt story about grief, love, and how the people we lose never really leave us. It’s funny, touching, and just plain beautiful.

A few quotes that really spoke to me:
💛 “Grief was a capricious companion. Sometimes distant and aloof. Sometimes so overwhelming it was hard to think a straight thought.”
💛 “That a person you love is never truly gone—they’re always there, whether it’s in a memory … or a dream.”
💛 “For where your roots are, your heart is.”
💛 “You see, the bonds of love are only strengthened when someone leaves this earth, not diminished.”

By the end, I’ll admit, I had a few tears rolling (the good kind). 😢💕 But don’t worry — it’s not a depressing book. It’s full of small-town charm, humor, and that Southern warmth that feels like home.

If you’re looking for something that’ll touch your heart and make you smile through the tears, I highly recommend this one. 🖤

Just the sort of lovely magic I needed. Nothing surprising here in terms of plot, but that’s okay. Interesting characters, a pseudo-mystery and happy resolution. Would like to think there are more stories coming from Wicklow.

I love books that inspire me to cook, bake, or garden! Not only was this a wonderful story, I am now thinking about growing zucchini and have been experimenting with different types of soup tea! Fun read!

A southern, mystery-lite, small town magic kind of book, but then make pie. I made pie for weeks after this.
